I will NEVER GO HERE AGAN ! I got takeout from Haurkis 2 days ago and it inedible! It was clearly BAD FISH along with burnt rice. I call the restaurant and was HUNG UP ON while I explaining my issue! I would only eat sushi from Haurkis in the past every week but I will never eat there again and make sure I let everyone else know! I'm disgusted and disappointed that they would treat a paying loyal customer or any customer this way. I called yesterday and asked to speak to a manager and was told they were busy and would review my order and call me back. SHOCKER they never called me back. Way to Run a business and treat customer. read more

I've been here a few times. I'd usually rate it 4 stars but I feel the quality has deteriorated. We ordered hamachi kama which arrived burned. The oshitashi spinach was missing dried fish shavings and the rolls we ordered were missing ikura salmon eggs on top as was pictured so we sent it back. Finding good Japanese cuisine in Rhode Island is no easy task. With only a handful of Japanese restaurants in the area, the choices are limited and so are the prices. You'd be unsurprised to expect a $20 meal per person minimum at most places. This is where Haruki is Rhode Island's saving grace. They offer great food, present a calming ambience, and boast talented culinary artists at an affordable price. It is a very clean, well-kept restaurant with excellent decor and great food. Not limited to just sushi, Haruki offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes such as rice bowls, yakisoba, and curry. Unfortunately, I am allergic to seafood, so I am unable to review their sushi menu. But I have been able to eat the Tamago (egg) sushi, which is freshly prepared at their bar. It tastes great and I always grab a side order of it whenever i'm there. Other people have told me that their california rolls and regular sushi are excellent, so I will take their word for it. Their non-sushi dishes are mostly good, though some particular items need refining. And I'd love to see some missing staple items on the menu like Onigiri. Just for the sake of completion. But in the long run, just about everything tastes great. The service is to be commended, too. The waiters are quick, friendly, and take their job seriously. You won't find any bored college dropouts busing your table with a fake corporate smile. No, the service here is genuine and feels personal. Some of the chefs at the sushi bar are also chatty and don't mind talking to you, either. I always feel welcome at Haruki. read more

Haruki is the best Japanese food restaurant in Cranston besides ichiban which is equally as good. The spicy scallop roll here is hands down the best in the state and anywhere I've personally eaten it. There's a reason why they've been open as long as they have. Beautiful bar too. read more

This is my best Japanese food I had outside Japan I have been eating at Haruki since they were in Cranston over 13 years. They moved to Warwick 10 years ago. Mr. Haruki is the owner. You still find him there behind sushi line once in a while. I love interaction with my sushi chef, Mr. Take when sitting at sushi bar. Unlike most Sushi place in Boston owned by Chinese or Korean. Sushi chefs here are all Japanese and working here over 10 years. Sushi here remind me of Nippon Tei in Bangkok which is the best Japanese restaurant in Thailand where the royal family and Japanese people eat. They are just fresh, high quality and most of all...cheaper than Boston. I always spend around 100 dollars for sushi for two. We would pig out ordering almost everything off sushi menu. When I crave for sushi, I drag myself down to Providence. Here what really good there.........................everything. Don't forget to get dessert there with shaved ice, sweet red bean paste, and milk. UNBELIEVABLE! EDIT : A few years ago, the whole restaurant customers on a lunch sunday gave Mr. Haruki a standing ovation and loud cheering because he chased a big trashy biker out of his restaurant. This guy sat three seats away from me at Sushi bar. Continuously complained about one teriyaki dish and had it sent back 4 times. Everytime he started to complain out loud, there was couple pieces of meat left on the plate. He ate them almost all. Mr. Haruki was polite at first and gradually lost his cool after 4 sent back dishes yelling in Japanese with right hand pointing his sushi knife at the guy. A food critic who is a regular told me to observe the show this guy tried to pull. As soon as he demand another dish cooked for him for free and wanted it packed for togo. Man, I thought Mr. Haruki changed his name to Mr. Miyaki in Karate Kid......He was gonna kung fu ninja that guy. The best thing I have seen in restaurant....... when he got back behind sushi bar, he came back with the same coolness, chatted with customers, and acted like nothing happen. I have driven by Haruki I don't know how many times and I literally want to kick myself for not stopping in sooner! For a lover of sushi and asian cuisine, it was a mistake not eating here as soon as I moved into this area. FINALLY went in the other night and was super impressed with the food and service, as well as the prices. I've been to Haruki in Providence which may have ambience but completely lacks the warmth of the Warwick location. When I don't order sushi I Really enjoy the tuna with white and black sesame seeds (which wasn't on the menu in their Providence location when I visited). read more

They do an excellent job, service was awesome, and the prices are very reasonable. My husband had the soft shell crab special, and he loved it. I stuck with the California roll, and an appetizer of Oshitashi, which was a tad bland. Presentation wasn't as neat as some of the other times I've been there, but they were super busy. It's about time that I wrote a review about Haruki seeing how I am there every Monday for $5 martini night. Yup, you read it right, 5 bucks for a deliciously made martini. Quite a variety, but I always get the Lychee martini. We always start with the black tea edamame . I love the habanero eggs on the spicy tuna roll, the superman and dinosaur rolls are good also. We have been to Haruki many times. The food is always consistently great and deserves 5 stars! Our issue last night was with the server. First the drink orders took forever and the Pino tasted like sweet water, so she brought another glass that looked and tasted completely different. We ordered a variety of sushi and sashimi for 4, expecting it would all come together. But it didn't. She brought it separately on plates rather than together in a boat. Like Haruki East, this place rates just as good. I do feel like east is a notch better. Haruki Cranston actually has a parking lot for convenient parking. So parking isn't fussy.. The food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. I sat for a good 10 minutes without being treated or offered a drink. I got my drink after waiting another 5 minutes and all i had ordered was a water. Haruki is really hit or miss. I've been here several times and walk away with a different impression every time. The portions are kind of small and the price does not make up for it--it is about $40 a head for a normal dinner. The fish really varies in quality, sometimes it's fresh and delicious, other times it just tastes old (not something I desire when eating raw fish). I come back only because its the only decent sushi place in the area, but it does have me searching for other alternatives. On weekends, service is quite slow and unattentive. I had to remind our waitress of our order several times during the course of my dinner one weekend, making me question the point of her being there in the first place! Best Sushi in Rhode Island, and I think I've tried them all. Do yourself a favor and order the Spicy Scallops roll if you go there - they are phenomenal! I find myself going back almost every week. While the inside decor is a bit outdated, the food is high quality and the service is super friendly. First time we went, we were seated and taken care of by a very nice asian lady. Second time for lunch the owner was very nice and outstanding. Loved the food. But 3rd time I ordered to go today and the lady taking my order didn't mention the website was hacked. I ordered everything off the lunch menu. So when I picked it up I was shocked at the total price. :(. The sake don is only for dinner. The last taking the phone orders needs to learn better service and to tell the total to the customer. I normally love this place and the food is great. But on my last visit the service was atrocious!!!! I had to wait for over two hours to get my food. I've eaten here for years with no complaint until today. I was served a gross unidentifiable cockroach looking bug on top of my salad. When I noticed it (which was right away - thank goodness- since it was on top) I immediately asked the server to take it away.
