Found this place out in Tacoma and it seemed pretty busy on a Saturday night, if you have a big appetite this is a great place for you to dine. Waiting time was about 20 minutes it's a very spacious place. They have a variety of selections to choose from like Sushi, soups, Mongolian grill, Noodles, Hot foods, Desserts, etc. I couldn't try it all, it was just a lot to choose from I especially ate mostly seafood from shrimp, dungenous crab and clams. Nothing like having your time wasted. We usually love this place but tonight we called prior to coming in and was 12 minutes away and were told that we could get in and they would have everything. We got there, paid and waited 20 minutes then was told we are getting a refund and we couldn't eat because they still had no table and was closing. Environment today was so loud from a group of band inside a big dining room. Why can't they close the door? My family and friends had a headache, couple of diners were talking off their heads, some grimacing due to loud sound. Staff did not acknowledge our concern about sound being too loud. But the adult customers think it's okay to push my young children around to get food. Tried to take out my kids who are under 6 for food and the customers not having respect. Such a great variety of food. Everything was fresh and tasty. Best buffet sushi I have ever had. The desserts are fruit focused and yummy. Highly recommend the combination of Macha ice cream and Mango pudding. Kids seemed to love the cotton candy. Must have fried chicken wings and chicken teriyaki. In terms of the food and environment, there are lots of choices and things are relatively clean. The place is huge so their rooms are always reserved for some kind of party. In our experience it's always been graduations or some sort of pacific Islander family event. The cons are the lines for the desserts are always super long and crowded with children because they offer crepes and cotton candy, and the parking situation. Not only is it scarce during the weekend but there are plenty of homeless folks around. Just be wary of your cars and the belongings inside. I went out to dine with my family for my birthday on a Tuesday at 6 PM. The cashier rushed us right when we walked in and paid the $91 tab for self service. The food is amazing , However the staff isn't very friendly. Coach the staff to be approachable , because your customers feel like they are a nuisance. Not very good. Not too sure what I'm missing. This place is HUGE. Yes, the buffet has quite a bit of food choices but it's not good food. Plus there is so many tables and chairs, everything is crammed together. It was $21.49 Adult Buffet. For two people, two drinks, total was about $50+. Didn't think it was worth it at all. Ate one plate and regretted walking in. You know when you leave a buffet full? No, here was like one plate, push it to the side, I'm DONE. CHILDREN RUNNING EVERYWHERE. Mongolia Bar would be a great/better experience if the ones at the grill weren't RUDE.. the amount of times I told the guy "thank you so much" and smiled, it was like talking to a brick wall. BURNT my meal and it just wasn't a great experience. Nice idea but wrong execution. However, the "steaks" were fairly brown. I wish I took a picture. Tables get cleared constantly but they push these big carts around and it's just too much. The carts get in the way and the workers could careless. Big place with a beautiful looking interior. I paid $16 for just me and they ask for the tip ahead of time, but of course it's all you can eat. You seat yourself and you get your own drinks. I like they have a sushi bar and a Mongolian bar. They have all different types of food from pizza and French fries, chow mien and orange chicken, to steamed buns and dumplings. Stopped in here after taking my kids for a weekend away mostly because there was no general consensus on what to eat. 1 child wanted sushi, another Chinese food and myself and my child's friend wanted seafood. Felt like I was at a chucky cheese. We went on a Sunday night at 8pm & were completely over stimulated by the amount of people and kids everywhere. I even got ran into once. Other customers just had no common curtesy with their kids & I know that that's on the parents not the restaurant... but they could try to enforce accompanying children to the buffet and back to a table. It was a complete free for all nightmare. Food was not great, definitely not worth the price. Lacked flavor on everything almost. I get that it's a buffet but I have been to many others that were WAY better. They do have a lot of dessert options though that weren't terrible. What a nice buffet to have in the Tacoma area! Harvest is tucked nearby Goodwill, Outback Steak house, and Ross. Parking is vast, so it's easy to find a spot for your vehicles. Walking inside, it's beautifully renovated from the ground to the ceiling. It's spacious with sparkling floors, new modern technology to accept many formats of pay. That includes Apple, Samsung, and Google Pay. There are many stations where you can pay at when someone is available. Lunch for the weekday is $11.99/person. Add a soda or tea for 99 cents. Weekday dinner is $16.99/person. Seniors for lunch is $10.80, dinner $15.30. Friday dinner and all day Saturday and Sunday is $17.99/person. Seniors are $16.20. After you pay, show your receipt to the host and she will walk you over to your table. She then places a laminated sign that politely asks you to flip over the sign after your done dining so the staff knows it's okay to clear your table. Drinks you get on your own. They have Pepsi products. There's a section where you may build your own stir fry with noodles, meats, vegetables and much more. Same thing for build your own soups. There's also a sushi station on one side. Items will vary depending on when you come in to dine. Shrimp and crab seafood mix was the only thing available during the lunch. They have a dim sum section with dumplings, steamed buns, tripe, and chicken feet. Yes, I said it... chicken feet. Honestly, they were actually pretty good. There's also your normal Asian meats, rice, noodles, and veggie option. At one end of the bar, there are your fried foods such as fries, breads, chicken, and fish. Tartar sauce is in a container right next to it. Then, you have your basic cold salads, dessert bars with ice cream, a crepe station, mini 1 bite desserts, and a cotton candy machine. Most of the food have very good flavor. I was very surprised by the fried fish. I did enjoy their stir fry noodles with seafood, the roast, and their egg drop soup. Their sushi selection was delicious as well. The staff frequently came by the tables to collect your dishes as you were done. Soy sauce, salt and pepper were on each table. Hot sauces are in the buffet area. There are some TVs for your entertainment. The booths and tables were clean. The only thing with the booths are that they're a little flimsy. Tl;dr: Best buffet in Tacoma. Huge variety of delicious food at a great price, but an impersonal dining experience. Stepping into Harvest feels like stepping into the lobby of a fancy hotel. They have stanchions up to form an orderly queue in front of a marble concierge desk where you pay for entry. The prices are very affordable: $16.99/adult, plus $0.99 for a soda if you want one. You are then seated, and you get a card for the table that you flip over when you're done. The inside looks like a hotel event center -- a large, well-lit space focusing on the various rows of foods on display. There's seating everywhere. I counted at least 4 huge separate rooms for seating. Despite being so new, the whole operation appears to be a very well-oiled machine. I could hear an automated voice from the kitchen calling for various dishes to be replenished, and generally all the food tasted fresh (the sushi was a bit chewy, but buffet sushi always is). They had everything from sushi to pizza to crepes. There's a Mongolian-style grill where they cook your meat to your liking, and even a cotton candy machine. The highlights were the coconut glazed prawns and little pork buns. It seemed exceptionally easy to get your money's worth of good food. I had a concern regarding customer flow. You can enter the buffet lines from either side, so in the middle you'd bump into people coming from the other side and would have to step around them (thereby "cutting" in front of other people). The buffet etiquette wasn't immediately clear and the customer flow through the line was slowed by this, but we all gradually got what we came for. The music choice was also strange. When we entered, they had a children's choir rendition of the Happy Birthday song on a loop -- even the hostesses commented on how strange it was. Eventually someone switched it up, but the rest of the night was still serenaded by a children's choir singing Christmas tunes. It made the place feel ever so slightly like a Chuck E Cheese's. The high ceiling and cafeteria-style seating also detract from any sense of intimacy. Even though the food is great and the architecture feels like a hotel, it's slightly chilly and wide open. I've heard this is the sister buffet to Feast in Renton. If that is the case, then Harvest is the little sister that never quite can live up to the high expectations that Feast has set in terms of food options. Harvest is clean, new, and has a ton of employees that are always ready to assist you, however I still find myself wanting to drive twice as far for a better option. I'm a bit biased because I tend to go to a seafood buffet for pounds of salt and pepper crab to which they don't have the best selection compared to other establishments. That being said, my kids love this place; they're all about unlimited cotton candy and french fries so some are easier to please than others. I will continue to come here when I'm too lazy to drive to Renton but for the most part this would be my second choice. read more
