Visited Indy for a concert and went to Hasuno for dinner - I wanted something in walking distance of Gainbridge Fieldhouse. I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. Not the best wine selection but the Lychee Mule was very good. I arrived a little after 5 and was pretty slow but got busier as the evening went on. High quality sushi for a reasonable price! Came to this Fountain Square gem on a Friday night, it wasn't too busy so we were able to get seated right away and the service was super quick all night. We started with the shrimp shumai and it was the perfect starter to share. For my sushi roll, I got the orange blossom (our waiter suggested this was the most popular spicy salmon roll). The presentation was a 10/10! I loved all the sauces on the roll and the salmon tasted fresh. Everything is reasonably priced too - the simple rolls are under $10 and the specialty rolls are mostly under $15. Highly recommend!! read more

Definitely a hidden gem in Fountain Square! Came to Hasuno with a friend after craving sushi and so happy that I did! The minute we walked in we were quickly greeted and seated at a table. I was quite surprised with how big the space is inside compared to the outside. However, ambiance was quite nice and I appreciated that they had their own bar seating area as well! Our waitress was super sweet and patient with us as she walked us through the menu. I ordered a lychee mule and it was perfect. Just the right hint of lychee without being too overpowering! The sushi roll I ordered was extremely well made and the salmon tasted so fresh. Now here's the kicker, the prices. Everything on the menu was so reasonably priced and I was surprised with both the service and quality of food/drinks. We had a birthday dinner at the restaurant on the14th and everything that was planed between my self and the employees for an after dinner birthday cake that I brought in that he didn't know about it being there. The food was excellent and so was the service.. I have spent very much time in Japan and the food at Hasuno is amazing! They brought the cake out after w were done eating along with a Happy Birthday song coming out of there stereo speakers And we sang right along to the music. We tried several sushi rolls and were super pleased. They also have lots of Japanese style drinks. Several people in our party had Japanese liquor in our drinks and really loved it. The restaurant is perfect for a date night, a quick solo dinner or dinner with friends/family. One time I went on my own and sat at the bar for a quiet relaxing dinner; while the second time I was with a large group! Screaming and happy crying that Tegry opened up a location in DT Indy, called Hasuno!!!!! My husband and I are huge sushi fanatics and Tegry is one of our favorite sushi spots. When we discovered that Hasuno was a re-brand of Tegry, opening up in Fountain Square, we couldn't wait to have it. And of course, it did not disappoint one bit! When you walk in, the ambiance portrays calmness and beauty. They have several tables, for big and small parties, and a full bar. Their sushi ranks as my new favorite in DT Indy! Came on a Friday evening realizing it might be busy. Went straight to the bar as there was no host, I assumed that was ok.. Bar tender didn't tell me about the back log until after I placed my order. His words to me, it may be a sec as he walked away. I tried to get his attention to ask what that meant (how long exactly are we talking) but he was pretty slammed I assumed maybe 20-30 min. I understand when restaurants are busy the place gets bogged down but it's really important to let your customers be informed before being committed. I waited 1 hour for 4 rolls, I was alone at the bar, not with a big group. If you cannot handle normal wait times for food (in Indy) just restrict the seating or advise the customer, it's not a big deal, that way we know. I overheard him telling his staff that it might be over an hour for food but he never once relayed this to a customer (at the bar). I was ok with not marking the review down until I said something to the bar manager who was serving me. He wanted to argue with me that he said it was going to be a while, I told him I wasn't trying to argue that I just asked that it might be good to let the customer know ow about the expected wait time. He told me to not tell him how to do his job and to please leave (as I was singing the bill) and he didn't care if I tipped him. I realize a busy restaurant can be extremely stressful it this is definitely not the way to handle this situation. I'll give the gentleman credit, up until that point he was professional and courteous but at the end he was extremely rude and unprofessional. Sushi was wonderful btw. So this negative review is not reflective on them. read more

New sushi restaurant in Fletcher Place! It's a great addition to the neighborhood, especially since there isn't sushi in Fountain Square. The ambiance is nicer but don't let that steer you away if you are in leggings and a hat. There is a cute bar and tv so you can watch your favorite sports game if needed. The place is big enough to accommodate 6-8 people in a group but 2-4 you would fit more comfortably. Sushi is very good and fresh! Plus it's priced fairly compared to other sushi restaurants on Mass Ave. There are many options from basic rolls to creative combos. Also, if you have someone in your group that isn't opposed to sushi but doesn't love tuna, salmon, etc, they have chicken options! Our waiter JJ was very nice and attentive. He didn't rush us at all and let my friend and I chat at our table after. The owner also came by and she was so sweet and made us feel like we were at home eating in our own kitchen. First time here and we had a great time. The restaurant is medium size and has a nice interior which helps create a family-like cozy atmosphere. Our server Carlos was very friendly and brought some water right away. We got a seaweed salad and edamame as appetizers - both were done in 10 mins and tasted great. Sushi-wise, we ordered a rainbow roll, orange blossom, unagi, Las Vegas, and lollipop - the presentation was great and everything was delicious! You can tell apart good sushi rolls based on the rice texture and the size of pieces - both of which checked the box here. The rice was good and the pieces were properly bite size. I can't say food was overpriced either, comparing to other sushi restaurants in Indy. All in all, we had a positive experience and would come back. This is the best sushi in Indy in my opinion! My friends and I went to celebrate my birthday and we could not have had a better time! The ambience is great, the wait staff was incredible and friendly, there is an extensive menu and everything we all tried (which was a lot) was so delicious!! We didn't get any pictures because we were caught up in the moment and ate everything so fast, but I will definitely be back soon and will add pictures!
