At one point says "yo, what do you want to drink?". That was the first and last time we saw our server. At 7:35 we asked for our checks because we have not seen our waiter or food. Instead of the checks they bring our food despite asking to get the checks and leave. The food was so spicy it was inedible. 18% gratuity since we had 5 people. The food is really wonderful, I have to say. I tip my hat to everyone cooking in the back. That said, my deepest condolences to the chef because the service was absolutely awful. Not only did it take like 30 minutes from ordering to get 1 soda and 1 tea on the table, but when our meal eventually did arrive, it was missing a dish entirely. The waitress even asked how spicy we wanted it when we ordered, so she surely must have put the order in.... At one point there were half a dozen people waiting by the front for to-go orders. One guy even loudly proclaimed "THEY MAKE YOU WAIT FOREVER HERE," which was both ironic and hilarious, to say the least. I would think take out is the logical solution due to the dine-in service being terrible, however I straight up saw the waItress take the phone off the hook. For a while, it was making that typical "phone is off the hook" sound loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear. Absolutely incredible. Again, the food is fantastic. Everything we got was great. Looked them up on website and Google. Both said they were open. Paid $10 for parking only to be told there were closed. Went back in to show them the error with hours. Worst service ever. We were the ONLY people inside on a Saturday night. We saw our waiter maybe 2 times the entire night. It took over an hour to get food and 1 drink and there was no apology from anyone. Popped in for a take out lunch. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and helped me choose a platter. I got the chili potato(appetizer portioned), dal, and chicken tikka. Order also came with rice, naan, and a dessert. I did not particularly care for the dessert but everything else was exceptional! My combo totaled $9.95 and with the amount of food that you get, it is definitely fair priced. There are still a few kinks to sort out but it's nice to have this as an option in the downtown area and I hope it has success. I will definitely be back! read more

Sadly this place has gone downhill since it opened. The service has always been poor but we had continued to order for delivery (despite the delays) because the food was fairly good. But now with our most recent order it's become evident the food quality has gone downhill as well. The chicken vindaloo was borderline disgusting and the bag was splattered with curry. Amazing atmosphere, and even better food! This was my first time trying an authentic Indian restaurant and it definitely exceeded expectations. My girlfriend and I both had the chicken Tikka Masala, we both loved it! The Samosas were amazing as an appetizer as well! The pastry was flaky and amazing. I've been a chef in this town for many years. One of my favorite cuisine's to enjoy is Indian. Primarily because the flavor combinations or something even as many times as I have attempted I cannot begin to properly execute. There's a delicate balance between the subtlety of some flavors in the intensity of others. This place not only Executes their food with complete balance... But combines it with explosive flavor and a beautiful delicacy the combine for quite the dining experience. Of all the Indian food I've eaten both in town and throughout my travels that's just became one of my favorite. And for those a little apprehensive to try Indian food much of this menu is comprised of Indo Chinese which you will see similar Chinese dishes but was Indian influence. I hesitantly give 3 stars but I do based on the food which I really enjoyed. We also had great service, which was a concern based on many of the other reviews. To be fair it was super slow and a Tuesday. Why hesitant if I had good food and service? They clearly put time and effort into the décor of the place. So it's off putting to have boxes of supplies all over the restaurant in plain site of the customers. There are boxes on the staircase, by the bar, on the bar. Do they not have any storage? A back area? The mop and broom are in plain site in the bathroom. Who ever manages this space should be replaced immediately. Being in the restaurant business for over 25 years it was something that bothered me through out the meal. Atmosphere is a large part of the dining experience. Next up the drink menu. It's large. I was excited until I found out there were only a couple of beers available (out of maybe 15 on the list). Same with the wine and every other section on the menu. My only thought is maybe they're going to close and they aren't re ordering items. The waitress didn't know why and I felt her pain. This is all a shame as the food was wonderful. Went in for lunch today and had a lovely experience! The location and decor are great. We live downtown and are so happy to have a restaurant back in this location. We were greeted by the owner and as it is a new restaurant it was the first day of the full menu. We ordered the vegetarian samosas for an app, they were perfectly golden brown with a wonderfully seasoned filling. For my main course I had the chicken maharani, their house specialty and garlic naan. It was delicious! The chicken was perfect cooked and the curry was so flavorful but not too spicy. I ordered mild spice, but it still had great flavor. The owner came by to check on our experience, he answered our questions and was kind and clearly passionate about the restaurant. I would wait for new ownership to take over , long story short they had 3 ppl in the place on a sat night , no bartender ( ever according to the waiter) so the awesome drinks on the menu ... not going to happen. When we tried to order drinks I was 1 for 6 they just didn't have anything so I settled on a beer. Wow, they really dropped the ball for 2019 Pride weekend. In 2018 I dined here during the Pride parade, had cocktails and food with friends, and watched the parade in air conditioned style from the 2nd floor dining area. It was fantastic and they were very accommodating. Not sure what happened in a years time, because our experience this last weekend was quite the opposite. I made my reservations (for 6) using OpenTable and requested the 2nd floor for parade viewing and made it clear that we would be eating and drinking-we had done this last year, and we were really looking forward to dining here again. I called to confirm two weeks out...the man who answered rudely told me to call back closer to the date. I called back 4 days prior and spoke with a woman. There was no reservation, so she took it down for us and Again I requested the upstairs area and made it clear we would be DRINKING COCKTAILS and eating. She told me it shouldn't be a problem but would call me if it was. Pride morning, we show up at 11:30 when they opened, and the man told me that no, they were "cleaning" the upstairs and it would take an hour (we were there since 10:30 outside waiting for the parade to start. Half the staff was outside with us that entire time) Then in order to accommodate us they had to rearrange a bunch of tables-because clearly they had no idea we were coming. Why do you even bother to take reservations? We could barely see the parade sitting on the first floor but the food and drink had been so good last year that we resigned to stay. Then they tell us that THE BAR IS CLOSED! On PRIDE WEEKEND? What?!? Who's the genius who made that decision? So, we got up and left. And all 6 of us are happy to share this experience with ALL of our friends. Don't bother with this place. I'd give em zero stars if I could. read more

Not sure how long this place will last. Their social media posts make the place look like the best restaurant in Columbus, but the actual experience was dreadful. From the incompetent bartender (didn't know what a mule was when there was literally one on the menu, said they didn't have Cabernet and my friend went and pointed out the bottle in 5 seconds), to the large bones in every bite of (what was hopefully) goat briyani, the tiny little lumps of chicken in the butter chicken, to the server telling us we didn't order something when we did (he even asked if we wanted it spicy or mild). Like the good little millennials we are, we didn't make a peep to any management, and paid about $90 for everything amidst all the problems, but I will be shocked if this place lasts another 6 months. read more

I ordered two dishes via ubereats and when my order arrived there was no rice. Instead of apologizing the restaurant said there was nothing that could be done. I asked if they would eat chicken tikka masala or buttered chicken without rice and they said no, but if I want rice I should put in another order. Very poor customer service. I used the online ordering and pre-paid only to walk to the restaurant on my lunch break to see it still closed..... talked a cook smoking at the rear of the restaurant 20 minutes later, got a text 5 minutes after that saying it would be ready in another 25 minutes.... got the food with an excuse as to why they didn't open on time (no apology or attempt to make it right) and the food itself was mediocre. White rice with tasteless chicken gravy is called biriyani at this place. In the photo the yellow rice seen on top is the only flavored rice in the whole box. No biriyani masala anywhere. Had asked for mild spice and got extra hot. It took 10 minutes before I could place my order for pickup at the counter even though I was the only costumer. The boy at the counter is nice but a little slow. Food not worth it. Won't recommend. How can a chef destroy biriyani like this??? Didn't provide cutlery either. read more

Website says they open at 4pm, got there at 4:30 before the hockey game and they say there closed until 5:30 pm. I always go to the website of the restaurant to get the most up to date time since it's not consistent through all the websites. You should update your website if that's the case not only google and yelp. read more

I was spending the afternoon with my daughter and she noticed Haveli Bistro and asked if we could dine there, so we did. The atmosphere there was very comfortable and inviting, and everyone was very polite and welcoming. The food was delicious, my daughter agreed. We've been to India twice in our travels, and Haveli Bistro reminded us why we love Indian food!!! They nailed it on three levels.... Sight, smell and taste!! The food is on point. Very, very good. As others have mentoned, the front of house is a bit confused. Our waitress said it was her first day. That's fine. She was quite nice. If they are still confused in a few months I'll start to wonder. They certainly aren't to the Amul level of service where it is a coordinated dance amongst everyone on the floor and never a water glass goes empty. If they can get the service hopping, this will be an easy 5 stars. Also, parking is sticky. There essentially isn't parking except for meters. I worry they'll have a hard time at this location due to parking. That said, we'll gladly have you move further south into German Village. :-D We'll be getting take out regularly from here I can already tell. read more

Oof--this was a rough one. Stopped in for my birthday the other month and was immediately concerned by the lack of people for a Saturday night. I tried to order a drink and was told they couldn't serve any cocktails because there was no bartender. When asked if the bartender was off, our server told us there hadn't been one the whole time he's worked there. My fiance tried to order wine, but 4 types he chose off the menu they didn't have. Terribly slow delivery combined with horrible customer service. We ordered at 7:02 and the projected arrival was 8:02. At 8:10 we called and they said wait another 20 minutes. At 8:35 we called and they said wait another 10. At 9:05 we called and they said....well you should have came and picked it up and refused to refund us. It was 9:08, 2 hours and 7 minutes later when the food FINALLY CAME. Horrendous service for average Indian food.
