Ok, so I used to live in Chicagoland, and ethnic food is my jam. And I absolutely love Indian buffets. Has to be a buffet too, cuz I don't like committing to one thing. I want it all. But Covid killed buffets, so I thought my Indian buffet habit was a thing of the past. Recently, my wife drove by this place and saw all the signs for a lunch buffet, so we decided to try it. It didn't disappoint. The place / decor is simple and the place wasn't crowded. In fact, I was concerned that there were so few people there. But oh my goodness, it was amazing. I really liked every dish I tried, even the ones that weren't exactly what I remember from other experiences. And my favorite dish was one I'd never had: Kamundal aur Sarigobi, which is broccoli and mushrooms. It was phenomenal. Everything was just the right spicy too. The only thing that didn't blow my socks off was the kheer, which was just okay. The price did blow me away though. It was really expensive. With tip, like $30 per person. So be aware of that. But soooooo good. I also want to say that I met the owner and she explicitly said she'd cook a dish for us special if we called ahead and asked for it to be on the buffet. How awesome is that!? Love their lunch buffet! The cost is $20 (pro tip: bring cash to avoid an uncharge for card transaction. After tax, the cost is $21 even). It may seem steep for lunch, but it's worth it for the depth of flavor and amount of choices you can eat from the buffet. There are a few mainstays (chicken tikka being one) but they switch up several of their dishes from day to day. I always look forward to trying something different when I'm here. Yesterday there was an item with black beans and tomatoes which didn't sound too exciting to me but it ended up being my favorite dish of the day. This was my first time to visit Haveli Indian Restaurant and I am really glad that I did. I was greeted warmly at the door and had great service. The owner came out of the kitchen to visit with me and others who were in the restaurant. She asked how I learned about the restaurant and I told her that I found her online and read the description of her saag with "just a touch of cream," which is how my wife and I prefer saag, and I wanted to try it. I ordered the vegetable samosas and the saag with lamb. Both were excellent!! The samosas and accompanying chutneys are made in-house. The pastry on the samosas was delicate and crisp. The saag with lamb was incredible! I ordered it between mild and medium and it had just a hint of spice to it which was perfect. The owner came out to check on me and ensure that I liked everything. I found the Restaurant using Yelp. I visit different locations due to work. I'm always looking for a non chain to dine at. I visited and to my stories have been here about a year ago. The restaurant is nothing fancy or modern similar to a diner interior. The food was very good and they can mix and match. I wanted a spicy meal with more vegetables so the owner suggested a vegetable dish with half chicken. The owner is from the Chicago burbs with very friendly personality. I had for lunch: Haveli Sampler a savory assortment of appetizers including paneer pakara, vegetable pakara, aloo tikki, and samosa this was good and not over seasoned with sodium. Gobi Manchurian golden fried cauliflower florets in a spiced soy sauce with fresh chillies garlic ginger and pepperand assorted Naan bread. A bit salty a lot of sodium but some may love it. The service in here is slow, they sit you down and then left me there with no menu. They did give me water to drink with no ice or straw. About four people had gotten their plates while I was sitting after I had arrived and been sitting there with no questions asked for about 20 minutes. I understand that the people are here for the lunch buffet, but everyone is not eating from the buffet. I had to ask a guy to take my order and then finally the lady took my order at the table after I waited for over 20 minutes with no menu and the wait time would have been longer had I not said something. If it's your first visit be prepared to be disappointed if you are expecting good table service. If you are coming for the buffet you will enjoy it. If you have been here before and you want the buffet you will be fine and probably really enjoy this place. Expect terrible waiter service. If you are coming for a meal not on the buffet that equals terrible table service. At least it was with me, and getting someone to take my order was like pulling teeth. When they talk to you they seem friendly and food was okay, not fabulous as they are just to focused on their buffet customers. I've passed Haveli for years and have always made a mental note to check it out, the forget to. As a self proclaimed "city girl" it's just been easier for me to grab food from that side of town. I now live in the county so I can continue to visit Haveli with ease. Right now they are taking orders online. You can order through Menufy, Postmates or their direct website. They are allowing dine in but things are socially distance. There is a table for you to check in if you're picking up an order. I let the nice woman know that I was picking up an order for Dana but she said DtheMoodyFoodie maybe? I said yes, that's me. I forget that's how it pulls up on apps lol. After a quick laugh and banter she sent me well wishes and I was off to try my food. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. I decided to venture off from what I normally order at Indian restaurants. I'm glad that I did! The Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious and wasn't very heavy. It wasn't spicy but lived the combination of spices and there was plenty chicken. The non was a bit chewier than I expected but I'm use to eating garlic cheese naan which could explain for the difference in texture. Since I'm close now, Haveli will definitely be seeing more of me and I'll have to explore their menu a bit more. Once it's safe to open the buffet back up, it's on an poppin! read more

I had Butter Chicken and a Chicken Tikka kabob, both were amazing and clearly made with great care and attention. The Naan was solid too, clearly made in house. What a delicious tasty treat this little restaurant is. My partner and I came here for the lunch buffet and it was surprisingly delicious. All the food was warm and comforting. They had an excellent variety that really felt like you were getting a taste of their menu. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The people working were kind and attentive. Been hear 5x now since finding it in October 2017 shortly after my move to STL. Been a fan since! I love Indian food done well as it offers such a combo of flavor, aroma, nutrition and culinary experience all in one. Having been a fan of popular Indian dishes like biryani, vindaloo, naan breads, tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala, I had the bar set high for a place that does not just menu service but also a week long lunch and dinner buffet. Being just a mile from work makes this a great place to grab an affordable lunch thats consistent but just changing enough to expand my pallet each week. I have done dinner once and lunch 3 times as well as the UYE event I just held this past week which was great! The UYE brought in a new dish for me, the 'chicken 365' which is a spicy breaded chicken with onion and green pepper and garlic. Its got kick but its spice that builds the flavor not overpowers it. The other items were all my usual favorites I have come to enjoy here. I can say with confidence that the others who came out also did as well be it first timers or repeat customers like me. All had smiles on their face and stomachs full of goodness! Hamel and Parth, mother and son hold down the fort and have one amazing story to tell for sure. Hamel has had the business for 8 years now and the wall inside the entrance proves they have something going with year after year of RFT best Indian restaurant awards. Aks them both about what they used to do or plan to be doing soon and the answer may really surprise you! As long as the doors remain open, the kitchen is clicking and the buffet is hot, I will be a regular at Haveli for a good long while. I think anyone reading this should be too! I used to live in Maryland Heights and would always pass Haveli when driving on Page toward 170. I always wanted to try it, but never got the chance until last night! I attended a UYE here where we enjoyed the buffet for dinner. The food selection is really good, featuring both meat and vegetarian selections. The food was also very fresh and flavorful! The service was also superb! Everyone was very nice, informative, accommodating, and friendly! The buffet featured my favorite chicken tikka masala and some delicious sweet balls (they tasted like pancakes in small ball form dipped in syrup). I also really enjoyed the Chicken 65, which was brought out separately from the buffet. It was spicy and had good flavor, but wasn't unbearably spicy. As soon as I entered, I noticed the chalk board which said buffet is $19.99 + taxes and the first thought was that is expensive for a place that looked average ambiance-wise. However, the service was friendly and top notch. The buffet had three chicken entrees, three or four vegetarian entrees, pakoras, fresh naan, plain rice and vegetable biryani, two desserts, raita, chutneys, and salad. The raita was too sour and we couldn't eat it but other than that all the entrees and desserts were fantastic. The pandemic followed by staff shortages & inflation has been difficult for businesses. I am glad to see the buffet back in full swing at Haveli. I see other reviewers have complained about slow service which was not an issue for us as we went for the buffet but I hope the restaurant is able to resolve that soon. read more

Amazing food! Something for everyone... vegetarian (they have you covered), no curry (no problem, lots of other options), not a fan of spicy/hot ((there are fabulous dishes here for you too). I was nervous about trying Indian food until I found this place. Since then I've tried several other places (because I live about an hour away) but nothing compares. The atmosphere is casual, clean, and comfortable. It's locally owned and operated. The staff are helpful, efficient, and kind. Did I mention the food is AMAZING! But I feel like I was way over charged, the menu states $13.99 for the masala, and $1.99 for an order of butter naan, but my subtotal was $22 for those two items, and jumped to $27 when I added on a side of raita?! It was recommended to me by the wondeful lady taking my order (she may have been the owner) Sad that I don't recall the name of the dish, but it was a chicken with coconut flavor, (what I thought was curry, but the sweet lady educated me that curry was a time thrown out alot) It was lunch time, in my opinion not inexpensive, but fair. (I belive it was 17.00 with tax) Service was wonderful, not fast, but again, maybe to be expected. This is my favorite Indian restaurant. We live in Ballwin in West County with lots of Indian restaurants to choose from. All of them are decent. But Haveli has the BEST Chicken Tikka Masala I've ever had. My wife agrees. We will gladly make the 30 minute drive to eat at Haveli. Their lunch buffet allows you to try many of their dishes and I've never been disappointed. The wait staff are friendly and the owner even chatted with us. To borrow from a 90's rap classic, Haveli is kickin mad flavor in your mouth. A Friday visit to the lunch buffet. You walk in as the strong aroma of Indian spices takes over your senses. The place is packed with a diverse group of people, a testament to the fantastic food. The buffet is shaped like a square in the middle of the restaurant, which makes it very accessible despite the crowds inside. There's probably 9-10 dishes, great meat & veggie options. Everything I try, from the lowly fried pakora, to the tandoori chicken, to the spinach-paneer, is absolutely bursting with it's own blend of flavor and spices. Seriously excellent stuff here. The food is not overly spicy, but definitely not bland. The kheer (rice pudding) and gulab jamuns (fried dough balls in rose syrup) make for an amazing dessert, especially when you mix them together. Haveli is the first place I've seen in STL to have chola & bhatoora on the buffet. Bhatoora is a fried puffy bread, and it's served with chola, a chickpea curry. This is a classic North Indian comfort food that I've only seen in household kitchens. Haveli did a great job with it! The young guy who manages the place is very kind and funny, and always does his best to make sure everyone is happy. You can tell he really cares about the quality of his restaurant. The service is also lightning fast. For a measly 10 bucks (tax included) you cannot beat the lunch buffet at Haveli, and I'd imagine anything off the menu is just as good. read more

A four or five! I really couldn't decide! I choose four because, although my husband and I choose the buffet, there are still soon many options on the menu to experience. The buffet was clean and had a great selection of rice, veggies, and meat options. Definitely try the Saag Paneer and Veggie Vindaloo (I think that is what it was with potatoes, green beans etc.). Not even remotely worth $19.99 on a Tuesday afternoon. I hate to see what they charge on a weekend. The food was mediocre at best as was the service (service spent most of our time in the back out of site). The chicken tandoori was nonexistent on the buffet until right about the time when I was ready to leave. I was the first one up there immediately after it came out and was astounded that she only brought out like five or six tiny little pieces. It was not worth the wait. Funny because I remember really really thinking the tandoori was amazing here about 6-7(?) years ago. A couple curries that were in my opinion overly cream-based. The chicken vindaloo was kind of like a mush, the chicken all shredded almost like you would encounter in a Mexican enchilada. Flavor on that dish was OK. Nothing too exciting. Naan wasn't coming out fresh either. I get that they make the food fresh, but Jesus, for the price they are charging they're going to have to throw a bit of food away at the end up each day. All in all I was just astounded at the price for the value and quality of the food. I was expecting it to be like 14.99 maybe 15.99 on a weekday. I can't believe I'm writing a bad review for Haveli. I haven't been here in a year, but last year I probably ate here five times and did not once have a bad experience. I'm not sure what happened tonight; whether the quality of food went down drastically or what, I don't know. My family came here after 8:30, which I don't normally do as I don't want to be a nuisance for the restaurant which closes at 9:00, but I had just gotten out of class and my family and I were craving Indian food. The order was super simple though: Butter Chicken And naan. That's it. I've never before had bad Butter Chicken and naan, but I guess there's a first for everything. This was legit bad food; the sauce on the butter chicken was extremely thin. Not luxurious and decadent like every makhani sauce I've ever had before, but instead milky and lacking flavor. The basmati rice (which was an incredibly small portion, and it'll run you $2.99 for a refill) was undercooked, and possibly worse of all the naan was practically drowning in butter to the point of being inedible. I came here hungry but barely touched anything. I could tell that the employees didn't want us there, which I can understand to an extent because they were trying to close up and go home. Nonetheless, if you sat us in your restaurant the least you can do is check up on us and ask us how everything is. No one asked us how the food is, if we need boxes, or brought us a check. The only thing that was said to us was and I quote "you don't need more naan right?" If you don't want to seat anymore customers, then tell us at the door. I'd much rather have went to a different restaurant rather than waste both of our time. I'm giving two stars instead of one because of all the fond memories I have eating here in the past. My fiancee and I frequent this restaurant very often, considering how little we actually eat out anywhere... It is a great little spot in Overland right off of Page. Do NOT judge the restaurants in Overland by their exterior appearances or you will miss out on a lot of great food! We have always chosen to eat the food at the buffet when we have come in, and we have never been disappointed. The food is always warm and well-spiced, without fail, whether at lunch on a weekday or weekend dinner and everything in-between. They keep it well stocked, so the food will rarely run out completely (unless somewhat eats a ton of naan quickly), but they replenish the food very quickly. The two entree go-to's that have been on the buffet each time we've been to Haveli are the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Meatball Korma. Both are rich and decadent tasting, absolutely perfect on a bed of white rice with plenty of fresh Naan or Batura to mop up the sauce with. The onion and spinach Pakoras are usually on the buffet as an appetizer, and are a great salty, fried, decadent treat. The dessert that is always on the buffet is Gulab Jamun, which is great if you love honey and donut holes. We have tried more other foods on the buffet than I can possibly remember, and we have enjoyed all of them thoroughly.
