I went here through a groupon. Patty was very helpful and accommodating in booking my massage appointment. She called me in advance to reschedule and it worked out fine with me, I didn't mind it. The place is not fancy and yes I could also get some strange smell. John was my masseuse for the hour and half session. He was professional and had a lot of funny incidents to share. Since I am from India he sounded off some Indian songs and names of politicians - at a point I thought I heard him say Mohammad Gandhi :) I usually prefer quite massages, but I appreciate his efforts in making the experience easier. I stumbled upon Haven Day Spa wanting a massage when I saw that they offered skin care services also. I asked about the services and they were able to book me an appointment with their esthetician, Monica. When Monica came, I asked her about facial recommendation for my skin and she recommended me to have microdermabrasion done. She was very thorough and was not very chatty; which was good because it allowed me to relax. After the procedure, my skin felt baby soft and refreshed, but just slightly red from whitehead/blackhead removal but after my skin calmed down, it looked better than before! Came to Haven because I received a prenatal gift certificate from groupon my friend purchased for $60. It was a side to side massage, usually for prenatal you get a special table. The lady who massaged me was so light with her pressure. I asked her apply more pressure but she didn't. After the hour massage, felt like I didn't get one! In a word-ANGEL-my therapist at Haven is a natural. She uses pressure points as well as a combination of other moves to relieve problems you don't even know you have. For a small woman she is incredibly strong and very delightful to talk to. found groupon deal for discounted massage. ...it's always risky going to massage spa without prior recommendation, you never now what you're in for! the spot was in an office building with parking lot behind, man at desk was friendly, offered water & led me back to room where i undressed & waited for massage therapist. i do find it odd she didn't greet me- i'd prefer to meet the person touching my body BEFORE i am undressed & before they are touching my body ((energy felt a little strange- i wondered what really went on there!). she was very nice, pressure was firm- almost too strong (language barrier) but she did check in with me & adjusted her technique. maybe my body is so wrecked it would have been painful regardless? oh my! everything hurts! i just turned 40!!!! definitely loosened me up, i felt like a new woman the next day, taller & walking with ease... this means i need more regular massage! read more

My masseuse was very good, but it was so cold in the room and the thin sheet she had to cover me with was so thin that I couldn't relax. I didn't seem the masseuse was empowered to turn the heat on- which was really the only solution to the cold. When I mentioned how cold it was in response to the man at the desk asking how it was, he didn't even acknowledge my complaint. Why did he ask me then?? If I had rated it the first time, I would have given this place 1-2 stars. My massage was from Lona and despite asking for harder pressure in all places and lighter pressure only on my lower back, I felt like I got the opposite. There was a lot of rubbing on the bone and not the muscle. It was just not a good fit and we had a language barrier. I ended up needing chiropractic services for a couple weeks for the pain I ended up with after the massage. Also, the hour massage was more like 45-50 minutes and I talked to the manager who offered additional time for the "next time." THIS time, about a month later, I decided to try out their massage again. I would have rated it a 4. I had YoYo. I had the additional time from before and the manager convinced me to do the 90 minutes. She spoke more English and had the right amount of pressure. She was more attentive to my needs. There were still some moments of pain where the bone was rubbed more than the muscle, but It was a better fit than last time. Not the best ambiance and not the massage therapists who have gone to professional massage schools, but definitely better customer service than other Chinese places because they want you to be happy. read more

I had been to Haven Day Spa previously for a deep tissue massage, and it was good, exactly as expected. I went again today for a Therapeutic Massage with Karen, and I was incredibly happy with the massage I received. After just a couple times down my spine, she asked if I worked in an office at a computer. Yup! And from there she was spot on with her pressure points and movements to work out my tight muscle areas. At no point was I bearing through pain because I knew it was good for my muscles. As soon as it started to feel a little sore, she would change technique or move to a different spot, so all I felt was relief when she was working on my back. Only thing I was surprised about was that I stayed on my stomach the whole time, but maybe it was the type of massage or the fact that I asked to focus on my lower back. Regardless, it wasn't necessary as the massage I received was perfection. I will definitely return for this particular style of massage with Karen. I'm particular about massage. I have back issues and won't repeat with just anyone. I tried Haven Day Spa because my go to masseuse, Patty, moved there from another location. I find the establishment to be clean and the massage rooms bigger than I'm used to. There are some tables with face cradles, and some with holes. If you've got a preference, ask. They also have a large shower. This is important as it makes it easier to clean up after a long day before getting a massage. I've been seeing Patty for many months now and she's delivers a great deep tissue massage. One thing I like in particular is that she doesn't waste time during the massage with any type of delaying tactic. She's good. She delivers. Ask for her. My sister took them and got a treatment herself, I was in LA and could not make it and the owner was so accommodating by taking my Spafinder Certificate over the phone. My mother and grandmother were in the same room and they had the time of their lives. My grandmother had never received a massage in her life. Very basic location with bare minimum decorations and flair, but the massages are cheap. They offer deals very frequently for $35/hr massage once you get on their mailing list. The masseuses also know their pressure points. I walked into the room and they immediately asked if I wanted to do something for my legs - they could see I had sore legs even before I knew myself! After2.5 years of patronage, today I've made the decision that I no longer support this business. 2.5 years ago I was pregnant and desperate for some back pain relief so I stumbled upon this here, on yelp for prenatal massage. Just within the last 6 months things started to do down because the price and masseuse was inconsistent. I feel like when John the husband is running it, he's charging me more( weekend worker) even with cash. I've never had problem paying $45 Cash for an hour body massage. He started to get a little upset when I asked and I saw that he didn't give me my point for the five star. Then the price started to be $50 and now $55 even when five star sends me emails for their specials $45. He ignores me when I ask about it. So therefore today is my last time there. On top of the unreasonable inconsistency of the price, I had one of the worse massage ever. The masseuse asked me "where's your pain" and I answered shoulder the first five minutes of her stretching me. Within ten minutes I realized that she was TEXTING or on her phone while squeezing and rubbing my calf's, to one point where she just stops. Awkward. She does this for 15minutes and get side tracked. She starts again to massage and asks me for my pain are and once again I said shoulder. Believe or not that's where I got the LEAST attention. I feel worse now than I did before going in.
