The cauliflower sandwich was amazing. A great option for vegetarians! It was delicious. It really annoys me that it the same piece and the regular chicken sandwich though. I think it's quite ridiculous to charge so much for a piece of cauliflower, especially since the chicken burger is like double the width. Still, it was very good and spicy. Definitely really fresh and crispy. I just wish it were cheaper. It doesn't feel right to pay $15 for cauliflower. The fries were super good. The cauliflower nuggets were very good. They were so crispy and oily that it's hard to eat so many of them. I love spicy food so much and I have to say, the spice level here is very good. These nuggets made me feel awful afterwards but they were good. I wish they had more cauliflower and less fried oily batter. The banana pudding was honestly very disappointing. Stopped by Haven hot chicken when I was visiting Connecticut. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it was super delicious, the chicken was spicy and crispy and the waffles were soft and it paired perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and he said the spice level was perfect. visit the location in Middletown. Right when I came in all tables were all dirty, garbage overflowing. When I went to order I mention if someone can clean the tables, the lady didn't say anything and just continue to order, so then I ask the gentleman that was standing around not doing anything to clean a table so we can eat at. it seems to be a huge hassle for them to clean the table and take out the garage that was next to the soda fountain, it makes the restaurant look dirty, so if they keep the front where people at dirty, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like! Today, I visit the Orange location, tiny firstly, and when the lady saw me at the register her cellphone rang she went and grab her cellphone out of her pocket while waking to the register then turned around and walk to the back to take it. OMG, what kind of customer service is this Hot Haven having.. we ordered and then I just said to my husband just to cancel the order. I was done with this. Sadly we are getting one close to where i live and will test that location. I really hope this is better!! Got a THE Chicken sandwich (medium spicy) and the Tendie Trio (hot spicy). Both were freaking DELICIOUS. We like spicy food, so the spice level was just enough to make us sweat a little. The slaw and the pickles both have the perfect level of sweet and sour to counter the burn of the chicken. Our only complaint is the "blue cheese" that we paid $.70 extra for. I don't care about the cost.....what I care about is a) flavor....there was NONE. It's a thin white sauce, no chunks of blue cheese, no flavor whatsoever. Not like mayo, or sour cream. Ordered online for pickup and the service was FAST. I placed the order when I was 10 minutes away from the location and within 5 minutes, they told me that my order was ready. The location was really tiny. There were 2 or 3 other parties in line when I arrived and I felt cramped as I had to squeeze through them to get my order. Despite that, the place was very clean. There was no seating available so people just ordered and took their food to go. The chicken sandwich I got was good! I got the medium spice level, but in my opinion, it was not spicy at all. It was very flavorful though and I enjoyed it! I'll have to try the next spice level the next time I go. The assembly of the sandwich was not the most eye-pleasing (as you can see from the picture). It seemed a little sloppy as the lettuce was all over the place and one side of the sandwich had sauce spilling out while the other side had no sauce. Nothing a little reassembly couldn't fix though! Decided to check this place out because I saw it mentioned on TikTok...great idea!! They only do take out or delivery..we got there at a good time with no one ahead of us. My son got the sandwich with the haven Level spice...he said that while it didn't make him cry while eating it..he expects that it might make him cry later. He said the sandwich was really good , the fries were the bomb and I could hear the pickles crunch from across the way. My Mac and cheese bowl was great..medium Level spicing.. got a few extra tenders so we could try the "hot" my lips are still burning but I enjoyed both medium and hot. I got The Sandwich in the medium heat level and I was underwhelmed. I'm not sure why my sandwich was not hot - both temperature wise and spice wise. The fries were really hot so I don't know why the sandwich temperature felt like it had been sitting out for a bit. As for the spice, I do have a high spice tolerance but I was feeling like something less painful that day so I got the medium. The medium tasted like mild to me. I didn't even have the slightest runny nose . I tried my friend's hot spice level sandwich and it was actually what I thought medium would be, according to the reviews. It had a building spice but it was pleasant. If you like spicy food, like me, don't bother with the medium because I am super confused if I received the right heat level. I feel like if the sandwich was hot on arrival and spicy, I would've liked it way more. I do appreciate the crunch and the not dry chicken. The bun and toppings are good too. There is a decent flavor to the chicken here. They're not allergy-friendly. When I specified that I have a dairy allergy it was explained that they dip the chicken in buttermilk. So if you have a bad relationship with dairy as I do I wouldn't recommend Haven Hot Chicken. The fries do have a good taste, and they practice good Covid-19 precautionary measures. The workers are very polite and courteous, they made sure I was aware that they could not make adjustments with the dairy issue. I had my first Haven Hot Sandwich Combo today... and I'll definitely be back. I ordered the "medium" which was plenty spicy but not overpowering. I'm pumping it up to "hot" next time. We've swung by several times since opening, and we're always impressed. You're most likely here for the hot chicken sandwich. It's a classic southern-style hot chicken sandwich with a vinegary slaw, not too much exposition needed -- it's fantastic. The chicken is sizeable, and the quality control is excellent. The spiciness is rich in flavor, and has a nice depth of flavor beyond just pure capsaicin. It's on the mild side but the heat levels aren't very consistent: the jump between "country" (no spice) and "mild" (the next level up) is surprisingly large, while "hot" and "Haven" are pretty much indistinguishable. As someone who eats a moderate amount of spice, Haven is ideal for me; however, it might not be sufficient for true hotheads (though I hear you can request off-menu levels of hotness). For $3 more, you can add an enormous serving of fries to the sandwich. Fans of Beer Collective's fries will be happy with them, but I generally skip them because the sandwich is big enough. (Probably good for groups.) I haven't had the "not chicken" (cauliflower) sandwich, but I ordered the nuggets once. They were alright -- the batter-to-cauliflower ratio was very high and it felt like eating balls of fried dough. I probably won't get them again. The tenders are very good for tenders, but are a little bit dry (even with the dipping sauces, which are excellent). I'd recommend getting a side of slaw, which helps the sandwich from tasting simillarly dry. They come with a slice of white bread which can help if you get a high heat level, but I generally skip since I find it a bit gross. Overall, very, very well executed fried chicken, which is something New Haven could always use more of! read more
