First thing I have to speak on is the service that they give you. all the staff is very very very nice and attentive. From the doorman to the guy at the elevator to all the waiters are outstanding. The drinks and the crowd on a Thursday is really cool. The margaritas are on happy hour and they are strong and taste good. The food is a little pricey so be aware of that. I tasted the calamari and is was pretty good, it wasn't the best I ever had but it was good. The music was good also. They have so many different areas in the roof top If you are going to try and grab a view don't. There is not real good view. But it is a very nice rooftop. read more

My husband and I spotted this place from our hotel room and hit the streets searching for it and found it! We had a good experience here, nice Friday after work spot to go to. The rooftop is covered which was great because it started to rain and we were good to go. I had the tuna appetizer which was just okay, next time I'll probably eat somewhere else and just come here for drinks. But over all, we had a fun rooftop experience. Eh. A little too prententious for me. An OK spot with nice view. The menu was tiny and a little confusing. Food was meh. The bartender did make a very good dirty martini. We got a bunch of appetizers to share and a pizza to share. Then we all ordered salads as our meal. It's good for drinks & apps but wouldn't go again for a full dinner. Left hungry. It was either get an entre salad or spend $20+ bucks on a giant meal... We then met friends at the bar after which is tiny and next to the bathroom and people kept bumping into us. I dunno, maybe it just wasn't my scene... Our sever did bring my friend dessert for her birthday with a giant sparkler and they played Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" over the radio. It was a work function for about 20 people & a reservation WAS made. We all arived on the rooftop at the expected time to find out that the staff was unable to find our reservation. The manager was sent over & we were all told that Haven was UNABLE to accommodate us, and we all had to leave. Honestly it appeared to be a cramped space on a tiny rooftop that gives away such false pretenses. Staff is unmannered with bad attitudes & quite bitter. We ended up going to 48 Lounge - where we accomodated with such class & a LOVELY private room. Haven is HORRIBLE! read more

I went here for a birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Waitstaff was attentive, food was delicious, ambiance was good. The only thing was the view could have been a little better, but that's alright since the quality of the food is more important. We had the bouillabaisse and cajun tilapia and they were soooo good. The view and ambience is unbeatable. The food is good. Service, however, is TERRIBLE. The nicest person was the gentleman in the hotel lobby who brought us to the elevator. The hostess never smiled and mumbled as she greeted us before turning back to her phone. Our server was very friendly but then disappeared for over an hour (we had to hunt him down to ask for our check, and then we had to ask for it a second time because he never brought it the first time we hunted him down). We also would have had seconds (and thirds?) on our cocktails and wanted dessert and coffee, but he never came around to ask. I'd go back again because it's a gorgeous location, but give yourself a good two hours to complete your basic meal; tack on more if you want dessert. Maybe bring a crossword. read more

Hip, great music, young vibe we baby boomers were in heaven ay the top of this rooftop find in NYC. ANISA guided us through every course - the tuna tartar stack a must with arugula salad to steak au poivre filet to her recommendations of flan and chocolate mousse. Came here with my husband for our anniversary. The food was pretty good, decor was nice and all but there wasn't enough space for a rooftop bar I thought. Oh and the service was really slow. Everything took forever from ordering the food to receiving it to getting our check. And we kept having to ask for more drinks because our server barely came to check up on us. It seemed that whenever she came to bring us something she came to bring something to another table as if she would rather multitask then bring us what we wanted faster. read more

His venue is beautiful. When you walk into the hotel you see the beautiful chandeliers, we were told to wait in line to head up to the roof which wasn't so bad the wait was only a minute. The elevator ride is short and when the doors open we were presented to this beautiful open rooftop where you can see an excerpt of manhattans skyline. The food is great their happy hour special are wonderful definitely a great spot for after work drinks or just apps and drinks with friends. The service is outstanding and the staff is beautiful. I also really enjoy the theme they have, which was perfect for summer. My friends and I enjoyed their truffle fries a couple beers and delicious chocolate mousse dessert. What this place did well was the decor. In the winter time this spot is dressed up as a ski chalet, and it works. The space however is very small, and the view is not the best for a rooftop as it is surrounded by many encroaching tall buildings. The staff was ok but seemed pretty apathetic about their jobs. Definitely not what you are looking for as you are paying a premium to be on a rooftop near the theatre district. As for the food, I was unimpressed. My date had the havenly chicken and said it was ok. (It was a second date what else is she supposed to say without sounding judgmental) As for myself I ordered the penne pasta with shrimp. The portions and quality were not worth the price in my opinion. All in all it was ok, yet overpriced and unexceptional. Also if you see a deal for this spot on living social, for what it offers versus menu prices, there is basically zero savings. read more

My husband and I spent the night in the city and we're looking for a rooftop bar. I checked our Yelp and found Haven. We loved it. The drinks were terrific. Service friendly and efficient. The only thing we ate was calamari since we were heading out to dinner later. Calamari was yummy. Only negative is that the view isn't great. You are basically looking at other rooftops but is is a fun place to stop for a drink and snack. read more

Went with my two children after a show. We had 7pm reservations and arrived early (615pm) but they couldn't seat us. The waitress forgot to place our appetizers but the food was decent. The seafood linguini was nice and the salmon over lentils was a bit dry. There were a couple birthday celebrations so shot skis were out. Decent place to grab a drink or two with an appetizer. I really wanted to like this... we had reservations at 5:30 that we had made s LONG time ago. I always check to see what the attire is somewhere before we go. All it says is 'casual' and my son wore a baseball hat because it was going to be outside and it was really sunny. He had to take it off. Hadn't done his hair so he was embarrassed. I was also told my shoes were unacceptable since they didn't have s back strap. They were NOT flip flops... they were very nice flat, expensive flat sandals. So this started off badly. Then, when we were seated, our table was literally on a ramp. Yes, on a ramp. There should never be a table put on a ramp. So my son and I struggled not to fall into the table and my daughter and husband struggled to not fall backwards. Ridiculous. Food was just sort of ok. 260.00 for a crappy experience. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. The look that both the hostess/bouncer gave us was extremely rude and disrespectful. We walked in after enjoying our time here in NYC and time square to grab some drinks on the rooftop. Apparently we weren't dressed up enough to get in to this place. Our friend arrived before us and was already on the rooftop waiting for us to come up. They didn't need to look us up and down and treat us like we were bums off the street. We were dressed for a casual day out here in NYC, not grubby just not nice enough for this establishment. All they needed to tell us was there was a dress code not look at us like we were dirt trash walking into their rooftop lounge. They need to learn some manners especially coming from an establishment that seems to pride themselves on how people look, they need to have courtesy toward any human being that walk into this place. Saw an article on DNA Info about where to watch the eclipse. On the spur of the moment, decided to go to the one closest to where I live, which happened to be at The Sanctuary Hotel, the rooftop bar there, Haven Rooftop. The promo I saw said doors open at 1pm - $20 includes a drink and glasses to watch the eclipse. No mention of reservations. I actually tried to see if there was a reservation situation going on there but found no evidence of it. Got there about 20 minutes early and stood in line. 1pm came and went. Then there were staff members going through the line asking if anyone had reservations. Then I overheard someone asking about the doors open time and a staff member answered that people with reservations were being let in first, but there weren't that many people who had reservations. WTF? So finally around 2pm a group of us is led into an elevator. The doors close. Nothing happens. One person on the elevator started having a panic attack. Someone rang the bell. Someone else called the front desk to let them know we were stuck in the elevator. Thankfully, someone in the lobby was able to pry the doors open and set us free. Then a staff member led us to this other elevator where we'd have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to the rooftop bar. OK, whatever. We get to the top. We actually have to walk up 2 flights to get to the rooftop bar. So we start trying to find out about glasses and if the hotel will at least comp us a drink for our trouble. No and no. People with reservations had priority, which apparently meant no glasses for us. Was able to get a drink at the bar for $13. And kudos to the clearly overworked bartender. She really kept her cool and after I bought 2 glasses of wine, comped me a third. A couple of people lent me their glasses so I could see the eclipse, which was cool. They also had the TV at the bar tuned to a channel that was covering the eclipse, which was great. Overall, though. Haven Rooftop, you have to go back to customer service school. This should have been a no-brainer. You were obviously making hand over fist via the bar tabs alone, not to mention food being ordered. In the middle of an otherwise slow Monday afternoon. I was really excited to try this place for Sunday brunch. But the service was so bad from the very get-go that I was immediately turned off , and I wasn't able to enjoy my experience. We got the buffed up Dominican waitress_didn't say hello and /or introduced herself . She immediately asked if we were ready to order. Didn't bother to take our drink orders first and give us time to take a moment to relax and look through the menu. Drinks were good_ can't say consistent because after she took our order didn't come back after it was time for the check. Food was good and tasty but nothing that would want to make me come back. We asked for waters and other stuff to the busboys _ pretty much the busboys did all the work. This was my second time here and I must say my experience was so much better than the first. I came here on a date with my girlfriend with no reservations and I was sat in another level of the restaurant which wasn't my favorite, not the best view but the service was great and made everything much better, axle was friendly/funny and though he looked busy he made sure our dine in experience went great. The food may be ok, the environment pleasant, and the views interesting if not breathtaking but good luck getting the friendly but disorganized staff to come to your table, bring anything to you in an even remotely timely fashion or pull themselves together even after being begged for merely adequate service. There seemed to be a bunch of staff but I still am not sure anyone was assigned to our table. Even after a waiter was flagged down and asked for help, there wasn't much in the way of follow-up. My friends and I wanted to go to the eclipse party so we called a week ahead of time to make a reservation, we were told it would be first come first served and to be there early. OK. 3 days before the eclipse we called again, you know.. just in case they changed their minds. No, still first come first served. the day before, same story... So we decide to get there early. We were right at the front of the line 30mins early. Then at 1pm we notice them going up and down the line asking who has a reservation. Hmm.. OK.. so we wait and although the door was supposed to open at 1pm it didn't open until 1:26pm! (Yes I kept track, by that point I felt insulted but I was supposed to meet people there) We went up, no glasses, no special cocktails as promised on the flyer. We headed to the bar area after putting our names down for extra glasses. But surprise surprise, we didn't get glasses even though the guys who put their names down after us got some (we were 4 girls) The only thing I can conclude from this is that if you have an accent you don't get a reservation and they dismiss you like you're not a valuable customer. (All 4 of us have accents, some british, some french) I am, however, a US citizen and very annoyed at the treatment me and my friends received. Went on an afternoon at 3pm. We were the first customers there. You get to the front of the Sanctuary hotel and get checked in by security. They take your temp and inform the restaurant when you are on your way up. The elevator doors open and the hostess is right there waiting for you. There are many signs regarding social distancing and they have plexi glass barriers between each table. We ordered the margherita pizza, chips & guac, fries for our edibles. The pizza was good and so was the chips & guac. Nothing special about the fries. Our drinks were watermelon mule and Jameson sours. The drinks were good and strong. After reading some reviews I was expecting weak drinks but that wasn't the case. Could have been because we were the first customers there? Just like every other restaurant we've been to recently, you need to scan the code on the table to see the menu but you place the order with your waitress. The service was good. The price was what you would expect for a rooftop restaurant in times square. My only complaint is that they told us several times that we had a 90 minute deadline. I don't mind the deadline but I do mind being reminded constantly. read more

Where to I start... 1. The view is terrible. 2. It took 10 mins for someone to ask us if we wanted to order a something to drink 3. Our waitress only came to our table 3 times-- once to take our order- next time to ask us if we had placed our order (mind you she took our order)- and lastly to bring us our ticket. No refills, no asking how our food is, no so we need anything else. 4. The food was edible- meaning I got the lobster roll and I'm pretty sure I can buy that at the deli and my boyfriend ordered Penne Pasta with chicken and the chicken looked like it was out of a can. In fact, we could've gotten that at the Olive Garden for a 3rd of the price and it would've probably tasted better. Overall- this place is not worth the price. It is clearly for tourist who think they are getting the "New York experience" however, all they are getting is an overpriced Olive Garden at best that overlooks a Port-A-Potty.
