Went there for my birthday - Night before I was gathering with friends for a casual birthday get together, I went to haven to make sure they would let everyone in. The bouncer downstairs was very friendly and so were the staff upstairs. They said they had no minimum even though I was having 10+ friends showing up. On the day of, they had people sitting at the spot we asked them for the day before but they apologized and said that we could have another area and they would add seating and when the rest of the place opened up, we could spread ourselves out. They were really good with their service. Drinks were a little expensive but they were strong and served pretty quick. When they came out with a cake the staff did a little dance and sang - it was cute! Overall, very very accommodating. And the no minimum for even more than 10 people is a big plus in this city. roof is enclosed and can get a little overheated. Music is pretty decent too. read more

Simply - NO. The worst service I have had in the city yet. We made a reservation after work for 7 people on a Thursday night. Our waiter was attentive...sadly though, a bit too attentive? As when the bill arrived we were charged for 6 glasses of wine we did not order nor consume. After saying the bill would be adjusted to remove the items, it was returned to us with only 2 of the glasses removed. We asked to speak to the manager, he came over to the table and proceeded to tell us that there was simply no way that the items could be entered into the system if we did not order them. He then proceeded to raise his voice and actually YELL at our table as one member tried to speak to him and explain the rounds of drinks, and that there was simply no way we could have consumed that much alcohol in the time we were at the establishment. I've never been yelled at by a restaurant manger. I've never been told I was lying and trying to cheat a bill. The drinks were accidentally added to our tab, but in their minds there was absolutely no possible way this could have happened. Ignorance and misogyny should not be served on a rooftop in Manhattan. read more

We had a reserved table for dinner and drinks .our bill came to about $500 for 8 people , the food was good and the drinks were good until we seen the bartender use her bare hands to put fruit in a pitcher.it took forever for the waiter to come our table when we wanted to order. Then when it to them taking out dinner plates away dessert menu where shoved in our face. So we ordered dessert and cocktails not even two minute the bill came to our table like they Were rushing us out. Not only that we had 3 ghetto drunks cursing , and drinking , speaking out loud. One of them missing an engagement ring freaking out , and then her friend throwing upright next to our table . You would think the manager would apologize to his his customers to us for having to see that and watch her friend call everyone thief because ring is missing which she found in her purse. But no we got rushed to pay the bill because someone else needed the table . Will not be spending my money again in there terrible service. read more

Yikes, where to start on the service I experienced here. Myself and friend on a nice sunny saturday afternoon decided to have a cocktail on the roof top. All was good, we had our drinks set down on the tables and the staff started to move all the furniture. Servers knocked our drinks (approx 1/3 of the entire cocktail) and said sorry, the bouncer apologized and said they would be replaces. OK so far so good. We waited.... we waited. Nothing. A sour hostess was directing operations, saw the event and we mentioned what happened. SHe said it was only a little spill (great professional attititude if ever I saw one) and would top up the glass. Ten minutes later she apears with a cocktail and what must be the remnants of our drinks (15 mins before) and pours iced water into my cocktail glass. YUM YUM. At this stage I was astonished and thought she would reappear to at least refill the glasses with the same quality beverage they spilled. NOPE. WE had to go complain again and lo and behold another 10 mins later the same same sour faced hostess appears with 2 replacement cocktails. Ever the professional she placed the glasses on the table and said again "It was only a lttle spill". AHH rude New York service... you can't beat it!!! read more

I am not sure if these other Yelpers have never had this sort of cuisine before, had too many drinks prior to eating, or simply did not eat the food, however, Haven rooftop has undoubtedly made the list for worst food I have had the displeasure of eating. The only reason that I gave it one star was because the atmosphere was very nice and the service was good as well. Collectively, we ordered the Guacamole and chips, a Filet Mignon with couscous, and chicken with a lemon-butter sauce. The guacamole literally looked and tasted like it came out of a can. The presentation of it was awful but that is not very important. It was extremely salty and tasted like rubber. The chicken was decent, but the steak was very dry and the couscous was awful. There was no seasoning or sauce of any kind and quite frankly it tasted like sand. I hate leaving poor reviews and rarely do it, however, the cost of the food is what really pushed me to do so. I do not mind spending a lot of money on food as long as it is of good quality; this was not even edible. The guacamole at 18$ made absolutely no sense considering how artificalit tasted, and 35$ for the Filet Mignon/couscous would have been okay if it didn't taste like rubber and sand. Like I said earlier, it was a nice environment and the bar area was decently packed for a Sunday night. The drinks are pricy for those who do not frequent city bars, but appropriate for the location. Once again, I would not go back to Haven unless it was for the sole purpose of having a drink at a nice rooftop lounge in a good location of the city. read more

We went here after work for a quick drink and once we closed out the bartender Mona let us know that she had accidentally given our card to another guest. I asked her if she could waive the bill and help us locate the other guest since she informed us that she was a regular but she insisted that if she waived it the cost would come out of her paycheck. She was painfully cavalier about the whole experience and told us that we had a lot of negative energy when we could simply cancel the card. Had she not been busy putting credit cards into her bra and flirting with the other patrons she might have noticed that she was distributing the wrong cards to the wrong people. When we spoke with the Supervisor who was extremely helpful but also implied that this bartender had done this before so I'm not quite sure why she still works there. He offered to waive our bill but the card is still yet to be found. If you're looking for a rooftop bar in Midtown I would go anywhere but here. read more

Really enjoyed dinner here. The food came out rather quickly, and all of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our server wasn't the best- didn't seem to like us asking questions, but we overlooked that as the hostess' and security were incredibly kind! Gabriel, who was the security detail working the downstairs elevator, was so personable and kind enough to give my mom and I recommendations on where to go after. My friend was in town so we decided to check this place out. I love rooftops especially in the summer; so, I was looking forward to seeing Times Square from above. Riiiight. The hostess Tamera who walked us to our table was very pleasant. So we get situated and we all start talking about the disappointing view. Also, I don't recall them playing any music which is strange for a rooftop. Our waitress comes and takes our orders. She suggested we order a pitcher and so we did, a pitcher of Margarita which was a complete waste of $50. Sadly our $50 was a pitcher of ice. Then we decide to order fried calamari for appetizer which were very dry. Again, a waste of money. I order the haven chicken signature which was decent but overpriced. Almost everyone's entree came with fries yet we didn't have ketchup on the table but that's not as important as their failure to bring water after three requests. Mind you that for a party of 6 gratuity is a hefty 20%. And for what? I'm not going there anymore and neither should you. Each of us spent an average of $40 and yet we left hungry. If you happen to be around Times Square do yourself a favor and check our the R Lounge part of the Renaissance Hotel. The drinks may be a little pricey but worth the money. Other than good drinks you get a panoramic view of Times Square. Their Hummingbird drink is amazing. Their three cheese dip is great, too. I'd love to go back to 230 Fifth Ave which offers you an amazing view of the Empire State Building, good food and the service is 100 times better. IHaven Rooftop you're a steal!! read more

This place is a pretty decent rooftop bar experience, without being overly pricey. Staff was friendly and accommodating. After first getting up there, had to wait probably 20 minutes for a table, but it didn't feel too long since we spent that time getting drinks from the bar. Have to say, it was a little crowded near the bar and loud music, but once we got to our table things eased up. They later opened up the roof shade, which made it feel more of a rooftop experience. Food was good as well, I ordered the penne with chicken-- delish! Not really a great view up there, but all in all it was a decent place. read more

People lighten up! This is a great & happenin' place!!! Perhaps a little busier than management expected and/or planned for, but I am sure they will add some staff soon; the food is absolutely fantastic and the super cute servers are running around trying to make everyone happy. The music is just what you need after a stressful day to relax and go on a 'mini vacation'. We have been back multiple times since they opened last month and each time has been a wonderful experience! There are many online lists indicating which might be the best rooftop bar in the city. I randomly chose this one to experience on my visit to town off such a list. I made an opentable reservation. When we arrived there was a doorman at the hotel, a complimentary coat check, and a brief 2 minute wait for the solo lift to return from the 10th floor to get us. We were seated at a reserved table just one table away from the window. Our server was very friendly, and attentive, as were his assistants. The dining tables are situated behind the hostess station just off the lift with a bar on each side. Each of the bars had a private party going on in them, so I am glad we had made a reservation. These parties really added to a great dinner experience. Having a proper French dinner under a glass roof with a DJ spinning dance tunes and people partying all around you is quite the fun change of pace for a dinner atmosphere. We ordered entrees, which were served in perfect portions. My fish was really good and properly cooked. After our entrees, since we hadn't really eaten all day, we were still kind of hungry so as we had more drinks we ordered the guacamole app. It had to have been homemade - it was really great! Service continued to be great through the entire meal. I noticed the hostess was charging 2 cellphones for a nearby table. And when the table to our right by the glass wall left the hostess told us we could move over if we wanted to. Just 10 floors up may not sound impressive, but the view is great and the temperature is perfectly controlled in the winter. It is pretty cool having a glass ceiling and the lights of all the skyscrapers clearly visible towering above your head. read more

This place is terrible. Awful food, terrible service. I came in with my fever voucher for 2 cocktails , 2 entres, 1 side, and 1 appetizer. The waitress was rude, no one knew about the promo. They questioned it and finally when they served me, the food was terrible. The risotto was undercooked and the broccoli over cooked. And to boot, the waitress have herself a 22% tip that was NOT INCLUDED IN THE VOUCHER. She cashed out 25.00 from my 75.00 voucher. Outrageous. I'll be speaking to a manager. read more

Nice little rooftop bar very close to a lot of Broadway shows! I was told to take off my ballcap before we got in the elevator (we weren't expecting to see a show that night but got rush tickets, so were not dressy), but they were very nice about it. I saw other people wearing caps when we got to the roof, so I don't think they enforce it. We absolutely loved that they had a Happy Hour (until 7pm) with $5 bottled beer and $7 wines! We had a cheese and meat plate and a flatbread with soppressata. There were three cheeses listed on the menu, a Cheddar, a Blue, and a Parmesan. When the plate came out, there was no Blue cheese. When we asked our lovely waitress, she apologized and said they had run out, and replaced with a Manchego. She offered us extra of our favorite cheese, which was a very nice gesture. The flatbread was delicious. This is a great bar to hang out and have a snack in before a Broadway show! read more

I was looking for a place with a good view not too far from Herald Square to take my friends from out of town to. Haven seemed like a good option. When we arrived it turned out, it does not look anything like in the pictures. The tables are very cramped, the chairs are very uncomfortable, waitresses kept walking back and forth very close to us. It was not cozy, it was not loungy, it was not pretty. My friends were upset, because I promised to take them to a beautiful rooftop and brought their cameras to take pictures. We had a chicken entree, a fish entree and tuna tar tar. Everything was not bad, but not good either. Just ok. The service was rather slow, considering that very few tables were taken. When we got the check, we saw that 15% gratuity was already added, even though there were only 3 of us. They must have added it because my friends had foreign accents. It is sad that they assumed that people born outside of the U.S. will not know how to tip. I often leave 20% tip, but I just went with 15% that they included. read more

Small rooftop. We got here at 10 on a Friday night and the place was dead. People were grabbing dinner. Seems like a really good spot for dinner. We ordered gnocchi along with drinks at out table. It was a rollercoaster ride for sure. Started off on a positive note, in an overly tourist area of the city a little gem ( I thought). We were seated to a beautiful view of times square, 2 stars for that. Then it started to go down hill. Our waitress was rude, not very attentive and when we questioned her she gave us attitude. I am sorry but beer should never be served warm...that's a no no . Specially on a warm summer day. After we placed an order she made sure to tell us that it would take 45 min for our food. Really, we were only having appts... Okay okay, that's fine. Our first app came out, Guac and chips. Stale chips for $16 ....I do not mind paying as long as it tastes good. After a few minutes I found the manager and mentioned to him how the service was and that we were not happy with the food. He immediately really tried to help and make or experience better. He is the only reason I would ever consider going back to this place again. He was kind, attentive and really gave such wonderful customer service. Our other apps came out and I have to say they were blahhh, the best part were the fries and honestly can one mess up fries. Our waitress suddenly became super attentive and pleasant. Really cool bar but unfortunately the GM ruined it for me. Security has a tough job and handled themselves quite well considering people can be pretty obnoxious at a bar on a weekend night, and they even posed for photos with our costumed and rather boisterous birthday boy in drag. The GM unfortunately managed to sour an otherwise fun evening at the bar upstairs, when we chose to go outside to smoke after they had closed the smoking section due to rain. Our party was booked by someone who has some pretty solid connections at this establishment, but I won't forget when management has a poor attitude. Last night's GM did not act like a gentleman and treat me with the courtesy I expect when dropping hundreds on drinks and behaving in the manner in which I was conducting myself. I would expect someone in his position to know how to treat people. A real bummer as it is a great location with an excellent bar. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Been here once before & it was alright but the problem with this place is that Tip is included, so the service was horrible. Went there for happy hour & dinner. we got seated & it took 40 min for anyone to come see us. The waitress finally arrived, when we asked about happy hour she said it was only at the bar & that it would be unfair for us to get drink specials because the tip wouldn't go towards her, went to the bar where they were having a private party. Another waitress then asked if I was part of it which then I said no, she instructed me to the bartender, we asked for the happy hour menu & he said there was none because there was a private party& then continue to charge the company for the drinks. As we stepped out of the bar & back to our table, one of the managers came up to us & accused us of deceiving 3 people which we had not, and demanded we paid for the drinks immediately at regular price. So basically I double tipped the bartender for messing up. This lady was rude and condescending! never seen anyone in the industry so unprofessional, I felt like I was stealing the drinks or something. Spoke to another manager who brushed it off. I didn't walk out of there because we were a party of 8 & it was an office thing. To top it off 18%+ gratuity was included in our bill never going back ever again! STAY AWAY!!! read more

I dine out a lot and I'm in NYC every month for the most part. Stumbled on this place via Open Table and decided to give it a try. It was a wonderful experience. Cozy rooftop dining, terrific/varied menu, great drink options and our server was top notch. Customer service was wonderful all around - which is quite abnormal for Manhattan. We started with a caprese salad and it was fresh and flavorful and then we ordered two entrees - Talapia Caesar Salad which which featured a truly fresh and flavorful piece of fish mixed with fresh greens. A+ and honestly the best I've had in Manhattan - no joke. This place had a steady bar crowd flowing in and out of the upper deck area - all controlled yet full of energy. Views are really nice from its rooftop location - wonder how it will be kept warm during the winter months as it was perfect in summer. Its only a year old and I will be back often as I found a little gem in Midtown/Times Square. read more

Maybe it has more going for it in the summer, but there's nothing charming or inviting about the restaurant in the winter. If you're starving and have no alternative, fine. It will work. I just celebrated my 50th Birthday at the Haven Rooftop and I can't say enough about the place. The venue is decorated like a ski chalet and is warm and inviting. The staff were unbelievably accommodating and catered to our every need. The specialty drinks were amazing and the food was delicious. It was truly a memorable evening! I would definitely recommend giving the Haven Rooftop a try either for drinks and appetizers or dinner. If you are planning a special occasion give this place a try. It will meet and exceed your expectations as it did mine! read more

I was there 4/17/2015 for a Meetup and the rooftop was hot as hell. It was a warm day and they chose to enclose the rooftop which was a bummer. 1/2 the rooftop was part restaurant thus making the lounge area quite small. They have another bar but you have to walk pass the diners and this bar was really short. There was not much standing room so then you have to go back to the lounge passing the diners. I would not want to eat here with people passing back and forth. I have to agree with another yelper, the look of this restaurant is NOTHING like the studio pictures. It might have been that way back in 2012 when it wasn't a restaurant but not now. I left 3 minutes later since I could not stand the heat. read more

It's a cool place, nice views. Centrally located if you're in midtown. Nice break from the hordes. Food is mostly good. The guac is okay, needs more spice or even pepper (why don't they have salt and pepper on the table?). But it was fresh. Fish tacos, eh, not worth the money. Both steaks, filet and au poive, delicious. But, they brought two filets so I had to wait for mine. But, pretty good service. Good fries.Crowded for a Sunday night. Pricey apps, okay prices on entrees, but limited choices. Drinks are good, the cloudtini is yummy, it's basically a lychee martini, but there is alcohol in there for $14. Get a deal. It's worth it. They do add gratuity, which I find tacky, but hey, it's 18 percent. Fine, you add it, you don't get 20 percent which is what I would have tipped. Wierd thing, those poor waitresses have to wear these tiny, tight, short dresses. Fine, but they were all walking around pulling them down over their asses all night. My friend and I made a reservation for new years and it overall was not a bad experience. Although there were no more available times for reservation after 4:15, we left at 5:45 and the restaurant was still half empty, which was a little strange but I guess they wanted to get prepared for the new years party for later. I think they are trying to go for some Arabian/Moroccan/Oriental feel but all their food is americanized. I got the shrimp curry and it was absolutely not spicy at all, although it was sweet and good. The portions were also pretty small for the price - I would not have come here if I did not have a coupon. My friend got only 4-5 raviolis for her order and I got 5 shrimp with my rice. Usually I can't finish one adult order at restaurants, and I finished this one without struggle. It did fill me up though- but just warning that you are paying for the ambiance, not the food. The view is okay, not very high, but you can see some buildings and it's pretty at night. The service was good, our waitress was very patient and helped us out with the menu a lot. I can't wait to go back to this place. My sister and I took our brother here for his birthday and he loved it. We made reservations for a sunday night and the place wasn't packed at all. It was just my family and maybe two other groups. Since it was October, the place had put up some type of protective cover over the rooftop so our view was a bit blurred but still beautiful. For this reason I can't wait to go back this summer. We ordered the Guacamole and chips to share which was really good. For an entree my mother and I ordered the Heavenly chicken while my sister and brother got the penne pasta with chicken. It was all good and the right portions. My brother and sister even ended up ordering an additional plate of the penne pasta and heavenly chicken so that they could share. As his birthday treat my brother got chocolate mousse in a martini glass and it was really good too. Our bill, including tip,ended up coming out up to almost 200. For the location, quality of the food and service I wasn't bothered at having to pay this at all. I will definitely come back here! read more

We made a reservation for Haven and showed up on time only to be made to wait over an hour at the bar, where there was barely room to stand. We kept checking in and we kept being told it would be another 10 mins. They finally told us they could seat us downstairs, and we followed them down to a table that still had people sitting at it. We were told to stand next to it and look at the menus to try to pressure the other people out. When we finally did get to sit and order, we waited a very long time for our appetizers. When they finally came we were informed that they didn't have what one of us had ordered. The main course was mediocre and definitely didn't save the experience.
