This was our first time in Oahu we arrived on a Sunday and I knew that we had to start planning what to do. So I went on Groupon to check out the deals for Hawaii Tours and came across Hawaii Turtle Tours this is exactly what I was looking for. Tour of Hawaii and snorkeling with the turtles (something my youngest daughter wanting to do) Anyways so I booked 4 tickets which was a good deal. I was having trouble booking it on line so I called them and they were so kind and booked it for me. So we were picked up around 10am and was greeted by K.C. he was GREAT!!! Excellent customer service and what I loved about him he said we were all Ohana (Family) cousins in his term and we all looked out for one another. The tour was Great especially with K.C. being so knowledgeable about Hawaii's cultural heritage and history behind every place we stopped and got out and drove by. He was also willing to answer any question that he was approached with. I really enjoyed that we got a chance to get out and take memorable pictures since this was our first time in Hawaii. Husband and I took this tour on our first full day on Oahu as part of our honeymoon. Our tour was great -- tour guide was knowledgeable, pickup was on time, van was clearly marked. The sites we stopped at allowed us enough time for pictures and walking around. Our the guide was great at helping us understand what the tourists often see vs. what the locals see. The sites chosen were generally fantastic, and we got a good feel for the island. Lunch was not that good. We drove by at least two spots where a bunch of food trucks were parked on our way to this rundown, out-of-the-way little shack with minimal options, minimal coverage from the midday sun and lots of bugs. Food was good and portions were huge though, so it wasn't horrible. Snorkeling spot was a bad one. The instruction we got was great, but I think I would have enjoyed it better if we were in a better spot for it. The combination of rough surf, coral bottom (rough like sharp sandpaper) and shallow water (low tide-ish) meant we came out with scraped up legs and backs, and didn't see any fish because of the murkiness of the water. We did get to see a turtle on land though, so that made it better. All in all, it was a really good day. Would definitely do it again if we go back to Oahu, though I'd probably bring a lunch and enjoy the beachfront instead of snorkeling. read more

We took a tour of Oahu yesterday. Our guide Raul was full of energy and gave us some history of Hawaii and helped us better understand Hawaiian culture. We spent time snorkeling on the north side and stopped at two different beach spots to go into the ocean. Short stop at the Dole Plantation and drive through Chinatown. Had an amazing time and so glad we went. We were able to see parts of Oahu we've never seen before. Highly recommend!! read more

The absolute worst experience we had in Hawaii. Saw no turtles, spent $400 to do a repeat tour of the island we did the day before. They laughed on the phone and said it wasnt guaranteed to see turtles and refused a refund. Save your money. Our tour guide KC was amazing! Local born and raised had a vast knowledge about the history and the makings of modern Hawaii. The tour stopped at all the main attractions we wanted to see (dole plantation, north shore, and diamond head) and had a lot of hidden gems like a macadamia nut farm, delicious shrimp lunch, and snorkeling! The turtle tour we got was awesome! We have an awesome tour guide as well; his name is Jake. He was very knowledgeable and talked about everything from good food places and history of important landmarks. We did the turtle express tour that explore fewer locations, but you get to spend more time at each location as opposed to the turtle eco tour that explore more locations and spend less time at each one. We were able to see quite a few turtles. We visited Waimea bay and did cliff jumping, which was cool. I highly recommend this tour and Jake as a guide. read more

Did the turtle tour today, currently live on the island but this was still a lot of fun. Our tour guide Ryan was extremely knowledgeable about the island and biology. We saw whale sightings at 2 locations and we were able to see a sea turtle while snorkeling! Fun! read more

I was less than impressed with this tour. First, I was really upset when the driver made me move seats after one of our first few stops to give this couple with a baby more room, even though the family said it wasn't necessary. They already had their two seats, plus a seat for the stroller. It meant I couldn't sit by my sister and I had a seat on the side of the bus with less views. The driver then continued to make other accommodations for this family while on the trip that inconvenienced others, again, despite the family saying it wasn't necessary. We all paid the same, so why was this the case? Second, the bus was super hot. The whole back of the bus was sweating the entire time. The driver said the air was up all the way, but it was hot. Also, the driver made the same jokes over and over again. The multiple comments about tipping him were unnecessary. The snorkeling with turtles was not what I expected. The water was murky and you couldn't really swim anywhere near them. I went on other snorkeling trips with turtles that were WAY better. The other stops were cool (nut farm, dole, beaches), but they weren't enough to recommend this tour. I think I would have been better off driving myself. read more

My boyfriend and I went on this tour in the hope to swim along side with sea turtles... and we were not disappointed! We had a great tour guide who provided us with lots of local knowledge and made many stops a long the way at local businesses and scenic spots to take pictures. While we were able to swim alongside the sea turtles the spot in which they take you, your swimming in about a foot of water with lots of rocks that house sea urchins, you therefore cannot put your feet down and need to swim breaststroke the entire time trying to avoid putting your feet down or touching the rocks. My experience would of been better if provided with flippers or some ocean booties to protect your feet, so I would recommend bringing them. You therefore may find it difficult to snorkel here if you are not a competent swimmer, but don't worry you can still spot them while sitting on the beach and if you're there on a warm day you'll probably find them on the shore sun baking... just give them plenty of space as they are a protected species on the island and heavy fines and penalties can be issued if you break these laws. You really can't beat swimming alongside sea turtles and watching them munch on seaweed in their natural environment though. read more

Kev the owner was very trustworthy and made sure I got on the right North shore tour. There are so many out there that are not even close to the same as these. Make sure you book this one. It's a 40 minute drive and you start at Pipeline beach where we got to watch the big beautiful waves and crazy surfers. Our driver Bo took us to 2 other beaches. One beach we got to snorkle and hang out. We saw turtles under water and on the beach Then we got to go paddleboarding or kayaking down a beautiful river. There were also a couple turtles mating on the river. Bo also was very involved and helped us surf on our paddleboards If we were brave enough. He gave me a little push and I am so grateful I went "surfing" for my first time! We ended the tour at The Dole Plantation which had an awesome huge gift shop , pineapple products and best of all the pineapple whip frozen yogurts. Bo was very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor. He made everyone feel special and accommodated. Thank you Bo and Kev and Brady for helping make my last day here amazing. read more

My best friend and I celebrated our 30th birthdays this year by spending a week on Oahu! Whoo! Flirty-thirty! She was given a pamphlet of a different company's tour, but we ran into complications when trying to book it. So, I found Turtle Tours online and honestly, we felt that we lucked out on booking the Hawaii Turtle Tours instead ^_^ Our guide was Mario and our driver was Henry aka "Chief". Both were such lovely dudes! (I want to type in the heart emoticon, but apparently Yelp.com does not allow it. Hmph) We stopped at the most beautiful scenic locations, stopped at places to eat (the banana lupia turon from the Kahuku Land Farms fruit stand is A MUST GET!!!), and got some fun tips & Hawaiian facts from Mario about the Oahu island (like did you know the Mormons owned a good chunk of Oahu? I did not!..) -- Mario likes to reference movies, so be sure to brush up on your "Lilo and Stitch" lines! Also, for families with kids: both Henry and Mario were so attentive and lovely to this one very talkative and curious 8-year-old boy. He's at that stage in life where he asks a bunch of questions and always had a comment to something, but both Henry and Mario never seemed impatient with the child. They interacted so well with him. For someone that comes from a strict customer service background, it was super encouraging for me to witness this great service being provided. Honestly, the only downside is that we didn't get to stop at every location on the original agenda. But that's because we booked our tour on a weekend! So I'm not that bummed about it, because that's understandable. A lot of the other tour buses stop at the same popular sights (like Hanauma Bay), so, of course, on a weekend there would be a line. But Mario and Henry were so considerate enough to provide us with other stops and even extra time at the other spots, so that we got our full day in! So super-duper important star tip: try to get a tour on a WEEKDAY, so that you can see every spot on the agenda! But if you DO get a weekend, fear not! With Mario and Henry, you'll still get your money's worth :-) Things to bring: - Shoes AND flip-flops!! You do a lot of walking about, but the flip-flops come in handy when you do the snorkeling bit. - Personal bag with... sunscreen, towel, cash (enough for the food stands AND tip for Mario & Henry!), water, little snacks for the bus ride, camera / smartphone, sunglasses, maybe a plastic bag so that you can take away fresh fruit / food from the food stands!! Things to note: - Be sure you understand fully where you are meant to be picked up. We were assigned to the Hyatt Regency Hotel. There are A LOT of other bus tours that pick their customers up from these stops, so be sure to have the Turtle Tours number handy, just in case! The van has the Turtle Tours logo on it, though, so just keep an eye out for that when at your stop. - It's best to book this kind of tour at the START of your trip, so that you can ask Mario and Henry about some places they recommend to visit, too! (We went at the end of our trip, but now know of a bunch of other places to eat and visit for the next time we go!) - DO NOT GO SNORKELING RIGHT AFTER IT RAINS!!! Our tour was one day after it rained, but because of the amount it rained, we couldn't see ANYTHING in the water when we went snorkeling. The water was murky with all the mountain runoff. A bit of a let-down, but at the same time, it was just straight-up fun to swim in the ocean and whatnot. But if this is a deal-breaker for you, then you should know to wait a few days after it rains!! Thank you, Mario and Henry!!! Jillian and I had a wonderful time with you guys. First off let me tell you I would highly advise to do this tour at the beginning of your trip and the reason why is because the tour guides give you plenty of insight on other things you can do while on vacation. Both the driver Matt and the tour guide Mike were awesome!! They were both very knowledgeable about the history of the land. Towards the end of the tour you get a chance to snorkel with the turtles. My wife who is absolutely terrified of going into open water above her waist and has never snorkeled before was nervous and hesitant but decided to still do it. I think the head lifeguard could tell and luckily was nice enough to come out and show her how to snorkel and had us follow him out. When we were out we saw and held a starfish, saw some other cool fish and got to see a turtle swimming around. After it was all said and done it was a full day of fun and I'd highly recommend to others. read more

On our trip to Hawaii we had the opportunity to take a tour with this company. With Bo as our guide, and Victor driving the van we toured the north shore of Oahu. Bo was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable of the area. He had lots of obscure trivia, and history of the area. This tour included snorkeling, a visit to pipeline, lunch, paddle boarding, and the Dole pineapple plantation. We had a blast. He even took us to a beach where the turtles were swimming in the surf just inches away from us. During the paddle board trip, I had the opportunity to see a manta ray in its natural environment. Awesome! Bo's knowledge of the island and Victors skill in driving (I tend to get carsick) made this a fantastic trip. The size of our tour was perfect, we had about 20 people in all. With the small size it felt like a private tour. Bo was able to make everyone feel important. I would highly recommend this tour. Oh and you can buy your tickets from William on the beach at Waikiki. The North Shore Turtle Tour came highly recommended by our hotel. It took care of three of the places we wanted to visit, plus took us to a few more. They took us to Waimea Bay and showed us how to jump off of rock into the water safely. They also took us to the Pipeline to see where all the sponsored surfers live and play. After that, it was lunch time. They took us to a place that had some amazing shrimp. They also had paddle boarding and kayaking there. Next was the main reason for the tour. They took us snorkeling with the turtles. When we arrived on the beach, there were two laying out on the sand. After a short swim, I found three more turtles feeding in the coral. These turtles were huge, and just hanging out. It was an amazing sight to see! After we finished at the beach, we made one more stop for some yummy Dole Whips. We really enjoyed our tour guides, Jake and his trainee at the time, Bo. They were both very informative, entertaining, and just showed us a very good time. read more

Great tour to see lots of Honolulu beaches and look out points. The snorkeling though was extremely basic and not much of a reef for sea life or turtles. Our guide did do his best and took us to another spot where turtles were hanging out and we saw them bob their heads in and out of water. We didn't get much time at the Dole Plantation, since most of our time was spent in line trying to get a scoop of pineapple ice cream. So I would recommend that the tour give a lot more time for exploration at this stop. Otherwise, our guide did his best to entertain us with stories and facts about Honolulu and the different sites. This was what we came to Hawaii for, on the Turtle Tours we got to see 75% of the Island, we got a well informed and polite driver KC, we got to see all the cool spots that other tour buses don't , we got to snorkel with the turtles in the ocean, stand up paddle , SUP as the locals call in a river with the turtles, we got to eat the famous garlic shrimp and shave ice that was recommended. My 2 kids on the way back to our hotel would not stop saying that they want to go back to Hawaii......they are only 5-7 yrs old....the hotel was on another planet to them.....we highly recommend this tour to all ages, well thought out tour, we will be back! read more

My wife and I took the tour on October 3, it was the second year in a row that we have gone and it was just as good as the first. Our guide Brock was very knowledgeable and made sure that there was never a dull moment, he even stopped at a farmers fruit stand for us to try the local fruit. The day is perfectly planned with great stops, scenic views, snorkeling, turtles and a fabulous lunch. Tsue's Farm has outstanding food in a beautiful setting on the river where you can paddle board or kayak if you would like. I recommend this tour to everyone and it is very family friendly. This was a great tour. Our guide Shane was fun and informative. We had my 8 & 11 year old with us and the tour was perfect for them - as they liked the activity instead of "just sight seeing". Snorkeling at turtle bay resort was fun but the most awesome part was seeing and snorkeling with the giant sea turtles on turtle beach. Lunch was just "meh" and I wish I had brought something for the kids. The bus is a bit of a bumpy ride so I would advise anyone with a tendency to get motion sick to take something for that ahead of time. Ice cream at Dole Plantation was great but lines were long - so rush out of the bus so you have enough time. I wish we had done this tour the first day instead of our last! I took the Circle Island tour with my two teenage sons and we all loved it. It was definitely the highlight of our entire vacation. Our driver was Ron and our guide was Raul. Raul knew a lot about the island and had tons of energy, which made the tour really fun. We saw parts of the island that I know I would not have seen if we did not take the tour. I felt we had enough time at each location but it would have been nice to spend more time snorkeling with the green turtles...just because it was an AWESOME experience. I highly recommend this tour. This tour was really great for us since we only had a few days on Oahu and wanted to see as much as possible. Jacob, our guide, was very knowledgeable of the island and shared a lot of really interesting facts and history about Hawaii. The lunch spot was pretty cool - highly recommend doing the SUP or kayak while there (otherwise you sit around while others do that); you go down a really pretty river. The spot where we snorkeled with turtles honestly wasn't that great. The instruction on how to be around turtles was great, but the water there was really murky, the water was super shallow, and it was about 90% coral at the bottom so there were very limited places you could stand up so you had to stay floating the whole time. Did see about 4 turtles though! The Dole plantation was really great and the ice cream was so delicious - we just didn't have a lot of time to explore the plantation since most of the time was spent in line for ice cream. We stopped at a few beautiful scenic spots and beaches along the way that made for some great photos. Love the fruit stand towards the beginning of the trip - some of the best fruit I've ever eaten. Overall it truly was a great experience - just wish we could have spent more time at some of the spots... maybe skip certain spots to then truly enjoy others. Many of the stops felt so rushed - totally get that we were on a tight schedule to get to as many places as possible, but if you don't like feeling rushed this might now be for you. read more
