Picked up an order around 6pm on a Saturday. They were quick (around 20 mins) and had it ready to go when we arrived. We got the seaweed salad, free egg rolls, sushi, and one of the chicken curry dishes. Everything was delicious! I thought the portions looked small but we were really full by the end and had leftovers. Will be coming back

Got delivery and though it took a while, the food was good. Got the ALASKAN MAKI, SPICY TUNA MAKI, NEGI HAMACHI MAKI, and the GYOZA app. Yes, I ate almost all of this on my own. I saved the Gyoza (pork filled dumplings) for a snack later. My favorite was the spicy tuna, though all three makis were good. By sushi standards, I ordered a lot just for myself and thus on the expensive side, but that's how sushi goes. Genius whoever decided that raw uncooked fish would cost more than a cooked fish dish on other menus. Bottom line, the sushi is average for my delivery zone. Had much better, but for delivery/take-out food it's decent. Would order from again.

Covid-19 Phase 4 dining update There's patio dining outside and 2 tables of indoor dining. I went on a hot day so I sat inside. The door was kept open so it was quite warm inside the restaurant as well, to a point I felt bad for the workers who'd have to work all day in that heat. No more lunch special! We sat in one of the 2 indoor table. Another group of people came. Sat & asked if there was lunch special. When told no, they left. I don't blame them because 1- I also asked if there was lunch special and 2- lunch special was one of the reason why we went! I ordered a dish from the menu but after 2 of the 3 dishes came out, I was told my dish ingredient isn't available to make, so I had to pick another dish. Since I felt obligated to decide quickly, I chose for another pad Thai. We looked forward to Hot Woks but unfortunately wasn't quite the same as prior to Covid times.

my husband and I are first time parents of a newborn, so we no longer get the luxury of leaving the house for a dinner date. We decided to treat ourselves and we ordered three rolls and nigiri for delivery. this is honestly the most inconsiderate, careless, disrespectful packaging. I've ever received from a restaurant that I've patronized. The rules were just dumped into two containers. some of the rolls were flipped upside down. They threw in the containers of soy sauce where they kept the rolls. The soy sauce had bits of sushi all over it. they also didn't include any utensils, and we end up having to eat the sushi with forks. This is the second review I've ever written about a restaurant. I am just shocked that this is how little they think of their customers, and I'm disheartened that this one opportunity for my husband and to indulge a little bit, ended like this.

Takeout order review** I was craving sushi and noodles and just wanted to try somewhere new. I ordered the pad see ew noodles and a spicy salmon roll. Pad see ew - I am surprised how good these noodles were. I've ordered this dish from a couple different places around the city and I have to say these ones are up there. Some places have good flavor but then some of the noodles are dry/crunchy, which I hate. These were so fresh, soft and delicious, and not a single hard noodle! The flavor was great too, I got it with beef, which was very tender. Spicy salmon roll - The salmon was very fresh and buttery, rice was seasoned well and the roll itself was very good. I'll definitely be ordering from here again.

Small little sushi spot that is doing dine-in outside with a heated patio. Parking is easy to find on the side of the street. Menu offers sushi and even poke bowls, It's not a bad sushi spot just over all I've had better sushi. The presentation is beautiful but as far as the flavor goes it's okay. My honest opinion, the cucumber salad was actually delicious and loved the sauce. The miso soup was also flavorful but the rolls were okay.

Points for location, prices, variety of different Asian dishes. There's a convenient Walgreens parking lot and street parking next to the restaurant. Variety includes Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes. Prices especially lunch special is decent. Don't expect authentic quality in anything. The food isn't bad but you won't get the depth of flavor you should expect in say, the ramen and udon soup as opposed to a Japanese restaurant where they specialize in Japanese cuisine.

Tuna tataki extremely overcooked.

We used to come here all the time. I mean probably twice a week delivery if not actually going in for the longest time. Food was amazing. We stopped because their prices are a bit high. But have recently given it two chances. Sadly we won't be back. Recently half of what we have ordered has had issues. Last time we ordered, petite egg rolls were under cooked, avocado in tuna avocado roll was brown brown, and spring roll paper was so hard it couldn't be eaten, and tuna avocado salad was filled with bad lettuce. We had never had issues like this before so we let it go for the night. This time, again the spring roll paper was dry and hard, and the tuna tataki was nearly cooked through. No exaggeration when I say it tastes like canned tuna at that point. I dont know what happened but there are much better options in the area.

Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box. The chicken was overdone and not what I expected.

The food as a whole was disappointing. It's worth the lunch price, but I'm unsure about dinner. Hot Woks Cool sushi is at a wonderful location -- it's right across the Irving park train stop and I-90. I pass by it frequently, and always wanted to give this place a try. Dinner was starting to look busy at 7 PM on a weekday. My boyfriend and I were promptly seated and we ordered a cashew chicken, tom yum soup, and a teriyaki bento box. Tom yum soup -- 4/5 We both enjoyed the chicken Tom yum soup. It was sour and mildly spicy. I personally would've liked more spice, but it was perfect for my boyfriend who's sensitive to spicy foods. The chicken was a little tough, so I would recommend splurging on the shrimp. Teriyaki chicken bento box -- 2/3 I didn't like the teriyaki chicken at all. It was very tough and overcooked and the sauce was not viscous enough for it to coat the chicken. It looked like it was boiled in the sauce! The tempura was okay, but the batter was rather thick. The Asian salad that was on the side tastes exactly like one that was store bought. I enjoyed the Californian rolls, but they were just A-OK. Cashew chicken -- 3/5 The cashew chicken wasn't anything special. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. To sum it up, I'll probably go somewhere else for sushi and another place for Thai food.

Seemed a bit different for my last order, after years of reliability. Didn't seem as fresh and portions a bit smaller. Decent enough.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive. Portions are straight out of the 90s--massive trays that could feed a family of four for under $15. Cash-only, BYOB, and everything comes out blazing hot in under ten minutes even when the place is slammed. The ladies running the show are legends: fast, funny, and they'll roast you (lovingly) if you can't handle the spice level you asked for. If you leave Chicago without hitting Dai Yee's at least once (preferably at 1 a.m. with a six-pack), you didn't really experience the city. This is real-deal, no-filter, soul-satisfying Chinese food that reminds you why we fall in love with restaurants in the first place. Dai Yee's isn't just a restaurant; it's a Chicago institution in the making. I'd wait in line in a blizzard for those smelts. See you at midnight.

We had starters - fried calamari and a spring roll sort of thing. We also had eggplant, another stir fry and walnut shrimp. All of it was fresh and delicious. My one recommendation would be to pay close attention to the menu. I didn't realize that the shrimp in the walnut shrimp was battered and fried - would have picked something else if I had. To be clear- it was delicious! It's just that I had already had two fried appetizers so would preferred something lighter. The eggplant dish was my favorite! And the special cocktails were also delightful. The restaurant is very busy and a little noisy at times, but it didn't detract from our experience.

It's crazy it's completely died down by the time we were finished with our meal. The service was great, the interior decor was beautiful and the staff was friendly. The dim sum offered for brunch was good as well but pricey. Especially since some dishes were only offered with two pieces. If you have a party of three then you're kind of forced into buying two of the same dishes. Which is strange. Traditionally most dim sum dishes have three pieces. Rarely see 2 pieces being offered especially for double the price. We ordered their Jiaozi, Char Sui Bao, crab Rangoon, chilly chilli noodles, and their Xiang long Bao. All were great. The chilly chilli noodles is served cold and was very flavorful. The Xiang Kong Bao was amazing. The potstickers was probably my favorite dish and it's mess up char Sui Bao. We were going to order wings but they had ran out I guess by 12pm on a Sunday. I was also going to order fried rice but it wasn't offered for brunch. Overall despite the priciness of the menu, we still enjoyed our food and the service. I obviously knew what I was getting myself into by visiting this place, and can definitely see myself returning in the future.
