My wife and I ate at the Hawaiian Hut for the first time last week, which had recently opened in late February. My wife and I both got different entrées. The marinated chicken dish I had was excellent. Both of our dishes came with rice and some macaroni salad which was very tasty. The portion sizes were pretty large for the low prices. My wife's dinner contained a lot of stir-fried vegetables, which she said tasted great. She liked all her food, and had enough leftover for lunch the next day. The food was great, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was fun, without being cheesy like other themed restaurants. You can dine in, or take out. The Hawaiian Hut is a reasonably priced, healthier alternative to traditional fast food. I would recommend this place for either lunch, or dinner. read more

It's not grilled that I can tell just looks like and tastes like old chicken that's been sitting in a crappy teriyaki sauce for days! Been driving passed this place for quite some time now. Finally decided to step in the door. As soon as I did it smelled heavenly! Yummm... I got the volcanic beef over rice. Gooooood stuff. I ordered it hot, and to my surprise... it was actually spicy! Added a little teriyaki and soy sauce, and we were all set. I also tried a little bit of the Hawaiian pork. That was amazing stuff. What a disappointment!!! We got the Scorch beef and teri chicken in one plate and bought a side of mac salad. The scorch beef was good. The chicken had been sitting around for way too long...it was difficult to swallow because it was so dry. The mac salad was downright disgusting. Went to this establishment around 730 on a friday night. Walked in with a young girl at the register. No hello, or reconition we have walked in (mind you no other customers were there). We walked up to the register with her talking to some guy (cook?) We stood in silence for a few uncomfortable seconds untill i had to ask for a menu. We ordered teriyaki chicken with mac salad, and some hawiian soda. Very generous portions of.....trash!! The chicken was tough reminded me of leather. It tasted weeks old even drownded with sauces. The worst was the bone dry mac salad. They might as well just boiled some noodles let them dry, and served them on my plate. They should definitely takes some tips from noho's! Delicious and quick Hawaiian BBQ bowls, wraps and salads. Generous portions. I had the burrito with pineapple and perfectly slow cooked pulled pork. I usually enjoy eating here but not today! I like the mac salad and after taking a bite it seemed off on the usual flavor. I tried it again it tasted sour. I called the restaurant and the manager said it was made today and basically made me feel like a liar. Working in the restaurant business, yes it could have been made today but was it left out of the holding temperature for a longer period of time? Were all the ingredients in code? I didn't like his response as a paying customer he should have given me the benefit of the doubt and looked into the issue and offer an apology. He said what do you want me to do replace the mac? The price was decent but we didn't get to try anything sweet they had because we got so full from meals. This place is a must try and the flavor was on point. Nothing tastes bland at all. I choose Hawaaian Hut quite frequently for lunch. I have a half-hour and it's close enough to grab my food and eat it before returning to work. Today, I walked in and was the only person in line. The young lady behind the counter informed that they just got a shipment in, so if I wanted chicken, it would be a 15 minute wait. Being on a time-crunch I opted to order a steak meal, which was $2 more than my usual meal. After 20 minutes of not receiving my meal, I was frustrated. I remarked to the cashier that I should have ordered the chicken. Still waiting for my food, I used the restroom. When I came out of the restroom, she had my food bagged and ready to go she apologized for the wait, and I left still feeling miffed. When I was able to get to my lunch on my break, I realized she had placed "Hut Bucks" in my bag, entitling me to one free entree. Although it took them a long time, they attempted to reconcile my concerns. My suggestion is this; if you wanna grab a good lunch and have no expectation of expediency, Hawaaian Hut is a great place to go. If you're in a hurry, pick something that may be quicker. read more

The food is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!!!! The portions of food are huge. Excellent location. Under the circumstances this place is outstanding!! The owner was working a full time job and starting this business. Opening week everything that could go wrong did. The Pepsi people showed up 3 days late, someone stole one of his signs, the sign out front had to be re-done and so on and so on. I think if you have any type of good taste, a few pictures missing on the wall isn't going to make the food taste bad. Give this place some time. It's been just over a year since my first visit to Hawaiian Hut. At that time, I was less than impressed, but today's visit for lunch was a much better experience. They've added decor, so it feels more Hawaiian and authentic and less like a big metal box. The restaurant was busy with the lunch crowd, but the wall hangings and decor helped dampen the noise. I ordered take out, which came within a reasonable amount of time, considering the number of people ordering food, and the food was really very good. Hard to beat this place for a good cheap plate lunch, and I have eaten here more than 5 times now. I have had a lot of plate lunches in Hawaii. They aren't gourmet meals by any standard. What impresses me about HH is that they have tweaked the Hawaiian tradition for a couple of slight improvements. 1. The sauces taste homemade, better than any I have tasted in Hawaii. 2. The pepper added to the mac salad gives it a wonderful flavor while allowing them to use less mayo. There are a number of bad reviews for HH; everyone's taste and experience is a little different. Just found the location on Saturday August 25 had a #6 small. Meat was extremely dry. Figured maybe leftovers because it was a Saturday. A group of 3 from work went again today and the meat was really dry again. One called it boot leather. 2 had beef and the other Kahlua Pig. I have lived in the islands and I know that this isn't completely authentic; however, it is still good. You get to choose from 3 sizes for each meal which is great. I only need a small and its a great price and I am not rolling out of there. They give you the option of brown or white rice which again I love!. The macraoni salad is probably the most authentic...........simple yet tasty. I make a mean kalua pork and it is even better in the islands.........this one is good but not amazing. It does the job of filling a craving but it could certainly be better. It isn't smokey enough for my taste. Other than the pork, I have only had the spicy chicken and it was good.
