Our server is always Greg and he is outstanding. He, like the rest of the staff always makes you know that your business is much appreciated. The food always comes out hot and always delicious. The Haymaker, Thunderbird is always consistent..... consistently great!!! One thing does bug me just a little. I am on their loyalty/rewards Ap. Today for the fourth time my breakfast points are not posted. I'm not sure what the problem is. Whenever I go to other Westside Concepts locations, I always get my points. The Ap is a nice perk. Used to go to Dillons quite often. My wife suggested I take my friend out for lunch at Haymaker. The decor was ok but just pretty plain. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. I got the adult grill cheese. My friend got a hamburger. Both sandwiches looked to just be thrown together. Mine had pieces of bacon sticking out at different angles. My friends hamburger had the lettuce sticking out like it had just been thrown at the burger. The food was fine and tasted ok. My friend said his hamburger was ok. Hamburger is one of his staples and if it had been exceptional he would have commented. If someone wanted me to go there with them, I would. It would not be my choice. The biggest complaint would be the presentation of the food. It tasted ok. read more

HOLY SMOKES! We've tried coming here a couple times and finally we were able to get right in. My husband ordered a build your own Hamburger which was ahhhmazing. Definitely not a frozen patty and cooked just how he asked for it. I ordered the brisket and Omgosh it was so much brisket. It was soft and super flavorful. The best brisket I have ever had. Long version: actually stopped in the first part of February to try the place, and almost didn't find it (thanks to Google maps being wrong). It was an early dinner Saturday, probably about 4:30ish so it was not crowded, which means we were seated immediately. The decor is nice and our server came to the table right away. We both ordered from their special drink menu (winter warmer & maybe it's cold outside). I will say I was slightly disappointed when the winter warmer came out and it was room temp; I was expecting it to be heated up, but maybe that's just because that is how I drink mulled wine. Regardless, it was a wonderfully flavored drink with a nice aroma. The cornbread and friend zucchini were equally good. My sister ordered the beef brisket platter, I got a burger. Both were well spiced. It was a tough decision to pick a meal as their breakfast menu looked just as appetizing. They did have a select few breakfast items still available but not what I wanted. I generally don't leave reviews for most places, especially when they are not completely positive. Today my wife and I went to Haymaker for lunch. When we spoke to our waitress Kaitlyn who was wonderful, we asked what Haymaker was know for. She told us the BBQ and the Country Fried Steak. I asked her if the steak was fresh made in house or a frozen patty and she said it was fresh made. Well needless to say I was thrilled and ordered that while my wife got the Brisket sandwich. The Brisket sandwich was quite good and my wife really enjoyed it. The Country Fried Steak was quite another story. It was absolutely a frozen patty that was then served on top of some very off color potatoes and swimming in gravy. To say I was underwhelmed is being kind. I was raised eating good country fried steak and I generally rate a restaurant based on that particular dish. Had I known what I was going to get, I would have ordered something else. Perhaps the wait staff need to be better trained on what is actually being served. We will likely try Haymaker again, but it will be a while before we do. Fresh made food is always better. read more

Let me start positive by saying the servers were sweethearts. The restaurant was not run down but the floors need a good scrubbing. On a Saturday night, prime time, it was dead but we chose to give it a try based on overall reviews. Anticipation was building up as we waited 20 minutes to be seated, so surely this was a favorite brunch spot as we had heard. When we were finally seated, it was next to a noisy group who should have been seated elsewhere as there was plenty of room for a large group in one of the side rooms and not right beside the booths so we had to shout at each other to hear ourselves. I have never been to a place that would not serve at least one slice of bread when you order a brisket platter, but they would've charged me $1.50 for one here and that's just cheap. This being a restaurant and not a barbecue shack, I was very surprised to be served on a metal tray with a piece of thin wax paper that the meat soaked into and I wound up ingesting. The cowboy beans and gluey macaroni and cheese were served in cardboard side dishes and the serving size was so small they should have been embarrassed to serve it: maybe 4 TBS each! The beans were average but the brisket was tender and flavorful even without any of the provided sauce. My friends both ordered the Haymaker Benedicts, which for $17 each did not include an English muffin (so I ask, why bother calling it a Benedict at all if it doesn't have an English muffin?) guess the mashed potatoes are what they use instead so you'd have to pay $2.50 for an English muffin, but you'd think they would at least offer a piece of toast along with the meal. They said they were flavorful but overpriced. The prices for the drinks weren't on the menu, so the 3.55 Coke, 3.25 coffee, and $5 OJ brought the bill up to close to $70 with the tax, and by the time the generous tip was added in since Greg was working mighty hard esp. because of that demanding group, we knew we wouldn't be able to afford coming back anytime soon for no ambiance, small portions, no courtesy bread, and picnic style presentation. These are all fixable things since they have a great product with the brisket, but it's hard to notice when so much else was awry. read more

The metal plater the meal was served on had some sort of paper underneath the food. When you try to cut the meat to eat you end up with soggy paper in the meat. They need another solution for something to put down before the food goes on. My wifes Arizona burger was greasy and looked and tasted like the grill needed to be cleaned. Old Favorite. As you walk into The Haymaker you can't help but admire the decor. The decor is very patriotic and respectful of our American values. On this visit we decided to get our food togo. I couldn't decide what entrée to choose so with a recommendation, I choose the chicken strip basket, B.L A.T sandwich, and fried zucchini. The chicken/zucchini were absolutely delicious and flaky. Both were light, crunchy, cooked perfectly, and served hot with the best homemade sauce and seasoned french fries. My dinner companion had the B.LA T, and ribbies and commented that both entrées were awesome. The entrée portions at Haymaker are large, enough for two. You will not be hungry after your meal. Came here with a few friends one night just to see what this place is all about. The location was nice and well kept and well furnished. Very spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food came out at decent speed. Everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered their grilled cheese with onion rings. The cheese was quite burnt in one part inside of my sandwich, but still quite tasty. Their onion rings were very tasty, they reminded me of Burger King Onion Rings. Just bigger and a little more juicier. Okay time for the serious stuff. The Loo. At time of visit, it needed to be picked up, paper towels pieces could be found all over the floor. Water was also on the floor fortunately I didn't slip lol. The loo was quite retro too, but it's okay. And the paper towel roll was not inside the paper towel housing, it was just rolling all around the floor, not very good, people would be scared to use it. The power level of the throne was only slightly more powerful then a common modern house throne. Not bad. Overall a decent loo. Overall good experience, decent food, excellent service and average loo. Don't see why we wouldn't come back. read more
