4/28/2026 After all this time and after Concord, Dublin, and Hayward all sending me away with an invoice that says "Unable to verify problem" and also treating me like I was some sort of crazy, I decided to look at the vehicle myself. Starting from the back of the car and looking at every possible inch of the car and thinking outside the box I popped open the hook and started looking very closely and to my susrprise I found plastic protective films that were left inside the engine area and even on the battery from when I purchased the car. Upon removing it all some pieces were even burnt which explained what was making me sick because this would be getting pulled into the cabin through AC. Heat exposure: Vinyl/plastic can melt or off-gas when exposed to engine heat. Odor / fumes: nausea, dizziness, or headaches. Heated plastics could contribute to chemical smells entering the cabin, especially through the HVAC intake. Improper service handling: If these were left after recent service, it suggests sloppy workmanship. Reasons it is usually missed Most dealership visits are complaint-driven, not full inspections. If you reported: "odor" "feeling sick" "AC issue" Techs often jump straight to: HVAC system cabin air filter refrigerant system ...without doing a detailed engine bay sweep for foreign materials. 2. Flat-rate pay system (big factor) Dealership technicians are usually paid by the job ("flat rate"), not by the hour. That means: They're incentivized to work fast Extra inspection time = unpaid time So unless something is clearly part of the repair order, it may get skipped. 3. I brought my vehicle in for a diagnostic after a battery issue caused warning lights to appear. From the beginning, I explained that the problem was likely related to module programming. The dealership charged me $250 for a diagnostic and told me the issue was the transmission, recommending a very expensive repair. However, their own diagnostic report showed a coding/module incompatibility issue related to the ABS system -- not a transmission failure. I took the vehicle to another shop, where the problem was properly diagnosed and resolved through correct programming. There was no transmission issue. This was a frustrating experience. The lease return experience here was incredibly frustrating. I was forced to wait for almost an hour just to get simple paperwork done. During the entire wait, not a single staff member proactively checked on me or gave me an update. It wasn't until I finally had to escalate the situation that they reluctantly processed everything in the last 20 minutes. I'm not sure if the staff is just untrained on lease returns, or if the sales department simply stops caring about customers once they are returning a vehicle instead of buying a new one. I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN! The service department is horrible. I brought my vehicle in on Friday, January 23rd and on Tuesday, Jan 27th I was told my vehicle was essentially being held hostage and deemed undrivable by the tech for steering issues with no loaner, and no responses from my assigned advisor, Jailene. Calls and messages went unanswered, and when I finally spoke to the Manager and Assistant Manager they both said the same thing that they would have her call me with an update yet still nothing from her. John the Manager said he would work on getting me a loaner but that wasn't true. They say what they can to get you off the phone. The assistant manager said it would be done by the end of the next day yet when I called to check in, NO ONE WOULD ANSWER! I called the service department numerous times along with the reception and my calls started to instantly get sent to the automated Cleo rep. I had my husband call right after from his phone and they immediately answered. They gave him vague excuses instead of real information. I finally got a loaner on Jan 31st after a week with no car. On Feb 13th I switch loaners for something that could accommodate my family better. Parts were still not ordered/approved at this time. It took 2 additional weeks for the parts to be approved through warranty and my vehicle wasn't fixed until March 4th! I also reviewed the rental agreement prior to returning and the information was for a completely different vehicle! When I went in to get my vehicle, my service advisor wasn't there and I was told by another advisor that I needed to pay for the oil change yet when I told them I had a service plan they said they couldn't look up my warranty and I had to find out myself who I went through. I call another dealership and they pulled it up instantly to which they said the advisor could have done it themselves. But Yes, it was covered. My vehicle definitely has scratches and dings from being there for a month and a half but I honestly don't have it in me to complain since no one there takes other people time and belongings seriously. A lot of my issues could have been resolved with basic communication--I would have been content with simple updates or REALISTIC timelines. Being ignored while they have my vehicle is unprofessional and disrespectful. I would not recommend this dealership based on my experience. read more

They give you a price that they claim they would match and then says it's $1,000 more expensive. Don't walk in until they give you the out the door price. Have them email you a breakdown. Buying a new car can be incredibly stressful, but Mick and the team at Hayward Kia did their best to make us feel at ease throughout the process. We initially visited to check out the Niro, but the excellent mileage didn't outweigh how we felt about the steering. So we asked for a test drive of the Sportage, which felt like a more confident drive and has had reasonable mileage for us so far (got 40 mpg for one driving session on the highway because I drive like a granny on eco mode). Long story short, everything felt right with the Sportage, and we ended up purchasing one to replace our older car. My 2021 Kia soul's check engine light came on in about a month ago. I contact Kia Hayward and brought it in the very next day. They did some diagnostics and discovered that it was part of the recall of a piston seal problem. My car was under warranty, but even if it wouldn't have been, I had my engine and radiator replaced without any charge to me and was given a loaner car. It took several weeks as they had to order the parts. My experience with them was stellar from the front, Dess folk, and the mechanics did a fabulous job, and my car runs great. Good customer, They got me in the very next morning to evaluate an engine light. They arranged a Lyft ride home. After evaluating the car, they said they needed to order a part and since it was the afternoon and I needed to go to work, they arranged a Lyft ride to take me to work. The following day they told me they might be able to get me a loaner car since the car was going to be ready the following day. But when I called to see if the loaner car had come in since my car was supposed to be ready the next day no service advisor called me back. it was too late to rent a car for one day and I needed to go to work so I had to pay for my ride to work and back which rental car would've been cheaper. I did leave a message asking if they could pay for my Lyft ride to work that day, but they did not call me back. The following day, my car was ready as they said it would be. They sent me a Lyft ride to pick up my newly washed car.. I don't blame the service advisors for not calling me back. I could see how two of them were very busy. When I've gone to dealership for services there were usually four service advisors. They have a good price on oil changes specials so I will be returning for that service and I will return there for other services because overall I was very happy with the care and price. read more

Good experience here--I was able to book an appointment literally minutes before I walked in. Had to get a tail light replaced. Price was reasonable for the work it took. Staff is very friendly and they provide round trip shuttles if you need it, just like the old San Leandro service center I used to go to. I stopped going there since they would take all day for things like oil changes. I dropped my car off here at 8:30 and was called around 10:30 to say it was done. That's more like it. Be very, very wary. What started out as a great experience with Hayward Kia later left us feeling greasy and taken advantage of. My husband and I live in the boondocks in NorCal, 3.5 hours from Hayward Kia, but they had a Telluride in the color we wanted. First time ever purchasing a Kia. Negotiations over the phone went well, and we feel they gave us a fair price. When we arrived at the dealership, the salesman that took us on the test drive, Nimer Massis, was fanastic, very nice and friendly, and we felt very comfortable at the dealership. The problem started to unfold when we sat down with the finance "closer," Majid Olia, who sold us a third-party service plan and extended warranty (Ally). We have had issues in the past with third-party service plans with Ford. We live a good distance from any major city, so it's not just a matter of popping over to another city for service. We specifically asked Mr. Olia if the Ally service plan would 1) be honored by any Kia dealership; and 2) covered the full expense of the 30K and 60K service. He said, "Of course, of course." like we were asking a silly question. So we purchase the service plan and head home with the car, only to realize that Mr. Olia gave us no printout of the sales contract, service contract, or extended warranty contract. So we had them email everything to us. Sat down and read the service contract, and we DO have to go to Hayward Kia or the service plan will only pay $125 for ANY service. And the contract states that the buyer can ONLY go to the seller dealership for service. Service won't be fully covered by even another Kia dealership close to Hayward Kia. We would be responsible for any amount over $125. We tried calling the finance office, but no one answered the phone or returned our calls. No one answers the main line so you have to pick a department in the hopes that someone might answer. So we sent in a WTH? inquiry/complaint to Carnamic Car Centers, who owns Hayward Kia. A manager eventually called us back, seemed puzzled why we were told the Ally maintenance plan would work at any dealership and said he would call our local dealership to see if they would work with Ally or possibly get us switched to another plan. If not, he would cancel the Ally maintenance plan for us (you only have 30 days to get your money back). OK, made us feel a little better. Then he never called us back. My husband called and left him a voice message. No call back. We called Ally and cancelled the maintenance plan ourselves. We thought car dealerships were past the days of this underhanded and slimy way of treating their customers. We were wrong. read more

I was in the Bay Area this week for a family emergency. While my sister was recovering from surgery, I decided to take my car in for an oil change. I had contacted multiple places which quoted $140-150 but had no appointments that same day. I finally decided to bite the bullet and called the Kia dealer fully expecting them to be more expensive. Hayward Kia had a same day appointment, they were less expensive than other places, they cleaned my car, and the sugar on top was that they gave me a Lyft ride to and from my sister's house. The lady that helped me get checked in was so great! I could not have asked for more. It really made my day. I was so happy with their service! I will now make it my place to go to in order to get the maintenance on my car (even though I live in LA). read more

Unfortunately I can't put ZERO stars. I'm from LA and I leased a Kia Niro from them but they didn't deliver the car for 11 days after I signed the lease. When I received the car it has 244 miles on the ODO (the signed lease stated ODO is 15 miles). The car was very dirty inside and outside with pets hair everywhere and stains in the rear seat. One day later I realised that one tire was damaged and requires replacement. All of these for supposedly a "new" car that I happen to lease from them. To shut me up they ZELLE me money for the 11 days of delay and the miles they drove the car. Where is KIA USA ???!!! read more

Great place to buy a car! Went in looking for a Telluride and they had a great selection of them. We ended up deciding that we wanted the Jungle Green color. The GM Nasser and Sal were the most helpful sales person that I have ever dealt with. They answered every question we had and never pressured us to do or go for anything that we didn't want. Sal took all the time we need to make sure he explained everything in the Telluride so we wouldn't leave with any question unaswered. Drove 2+ hours to look at a car my daughter was interested in. Waited over 4 hours to try and finance my daughter's car with me as a co-signer. The "general manager" Micheal Whang kept telling us the bank was holding it up. We finally got tired of waiting and went and got a cashiers check for the car. They offered us a free car wash or a free oil change at their dealership for all the wasted time. Driving 2 hours for that??!! No thanks Micheal!! Don't waste your time. Horrible customer service. However, shortly after completing the transaction and driving off the lot, I encountered an issue when a protective piece covering the bolts on the bar came off on the second day of ownership. Despite my efforts to contact Elizabeth and Nasser immediately upon noticing the problem, it has been 12 days since I received any response, despite numerous attempts via text and email. This lack of responsiveness has left me deeply disappointed. Initially, I was inclined to recommend this KIA dealership, but given this experience, I must now advise against it. Adding on: I had an email chain between myself and Ayman (manager) where I was told previously by Nasser that there is no ETA on the part. Ayman suggested I come in to the service to have it looked at when the image clearly shows what piece fell off. He also contradicted Nasser by telling me they could get the piece when there is no ETA on the piece. Then he claimed I was being harsh and difficult as I was telling him it does not make sense for me to drive in to not have it guaranteed and paid for by the company that sold me a car that has pieces flying off the second day I'm driving it AND if they do not have the part. He then claims it is not their issue that the car had pieces coming off as they only sell the car and not manufacture the cars. They do not care for you after you purchase. I got a recall notice for a software update to my brand new Sorento, and called around to see where I could get it taken care of. Most dealerships said they could only fix it M-F, but I live across the Bay and work full time so I wouldn't be able to make it. Kia San Leandro said they could fix it for me on Saturday between 7am and noon, although they recommended arriving early. Awesome! I dragged myself out of bed at 6am Saturday morning and got there at 7:20am (40 miles away and across a bridge), and the dealership is closed till 9am. I don't even see a service center, but nobody told me it was somewhere else. So I go online and the website says the service center isn't even open till 7:30. I call to see if their outgoing msg has any info about where the service center is and nope! Website? Nope! I wait till 7:30 and try to call again hoping for a person to answer. Still nope! All in all, I call 6 times between 7:30-8am, with no answer. I also left a voicemail asking for the address of the service center, which was not returned. Finally use the chat service on the website to get a rep who tracks down the info for me after 10 mins or so (it's at 2085 Wayne Ave attached to the Nissan dealership, in case you're reading reviews looking for it like I did). So I finally get there at about 8:15, almost an hour after I arrived at the dealership, and check in. I'm already upset since it took so long to find the place, and the one positive thing about this experience was the woman who checked me in, very friendly and understanding. It'll take about 2 hours, ok, whatever, that's what I expected. I catch a Lyft to the Target at Bayfair to kill time, and get a call at 10 that it's ready. Get a Lyft back and arrive around 10:25 to pick up the car... but their system just went down and they can't check me out, please go have a seat in the lounge and we'll come get you. I wait another half hour before I finally get up and go inside to see if maybe their system is back up and they just haven't bothered to get me, and yes, that's exactly what happened. I wait in line while they finish with the people ahead of me. Get my key back, and yay! I'm finally free! Except when I get back to my car there's a piece of cardboard in the seat, whatever, I'll throw it away myself because I want to go. But it was covered in adhesive on the bottom and STUCK to my seat!! So I had to go back inside, wait again, tell them the problem, and then wait again while they found someone to clean it, which took another 10 mins or so. I finally got out of there FOUR HOURS after I arrived, for a service that would have taken 1 hour and 45 minutes if this place had its **** together. read more
