Best tasting of all were the two 1" slices of garlic bread (total about the size of a half of a hotdog bun), which is a sad reflection of a restaurant that specializes in BBQ meat. We were in the area and were in the mood for some bbq. They have a really nice patio but as it was fairly cold we opted to head indoors. The dining room is very spacious with a lot of tables and some booths along the wall, but everything looked grimy, definitely needs a deep clean. You order at the till, the process was quick and easy. As there were not that many people around, our food came out very quickly. Both kids ordered burnt ends, mac and cheese, beans and cheesy mashed potatoes and were quite happy with their food. Both my husband and I had the brisket, mac and cheese and cole slaw. Unfortunately, while their brisket portion was very generous the meat itself was very dry, chewy and under seasoned. It tasted like overcooked roast beef rather than smoked meat. The mac and cheese was quite tasty but also lacked some seasoning. Creamy coleslaw was really tough and chewy, not edible. We've been exploring downtown Danville and stopped into Hazy BBQ for dinner. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, lots of street parking (I can't remember if they have their own parking lot), and a great place to gather to watch sporting events with friends/family. We built our own platter since we're such indecisive people. The burnt ends were my boyfriend's favorite while I really enjoyed the ribs. We both agree the brisket was also very tasty and thickly cut. The sides were also very delicious and pleasant additions to our meal. Our go to spot for BBQ in the area. Pricing: Value is pretty good for what you get compared to other BBQ spots in the East Bay. They sell their gift cards at Danville Costco, which is a great way to get a deal on their food. Food: My wife and I typically get the signature sampler and Mama T salad. We like the sausage in the sampler, and the salad has a nice balance of acidity and texture. That is more than enough for both of us and we end up taking home leftovers. They have several sauces that you can choose from to compliment the meats. Our favorite is the mustard based sauce. Service: Staff are friendly and food comes out fairly quick. Location: Parking is limited right next to the restaurant, but plenty more spots are available in the lot across the street. Also close to a lot of other spots in Downtown Danville. I really, REALLY wanted this experience to go well. I was hoping to find good BBQ locally, especially after paying over $30 for a 'one meat combo plate' plus $9 for 1/4# of brisket. Asked for sauce on the side, didn't get any. The ribs (1/3 slab, 4 bones) were room temperature and overcooked... the meat was mushy. The brisket was one thick slice (slab) that was dry, tough and undercooked. There was absolutely NO SMOKE RING or taste. Wife and I split the ribs, potato salad, tossed the garlic bread (hard), and only ate about half the brisket. Not intended as an insult, but $4.50 for 1/8# of dog food is expensive! When you think of a brisket, it will be moist and tender and juicy, but this was not it. Brisket was dry as a bone, and without extra sauces it was not edible. 3. Chicken wings {3/5 stars, $10} - very little meat on these wings and once again, very dry and not tender. They say smoked for over 3 hours, but tasted like left overs. 4. Overall, pretty disappointing with a few bright spots. I came in at about 7-8pm on a Friday, the vibes were great here - a nice bar area, really good service, lots of TVs, and a great atmosphere. I can say confidently, I would have a great time here on a game day. Unfortunately, the food was pretty lackluster, especially the beef and pork. I'm not sure if it's because it was later in the day and the meat was sitting around for a while but the brisket was so dry (as pictured). There was not a single shine on the brisket and it was tough and difficult to chew. It almost felt and tasted jerky-like which was disappointing because brisket is usually my favorite cut for BBQ! The pulled pork was the same, dry and tough. I get the feeling that this would taste much better for lunch or earlier in the day. The chicken was decent and has good flavor. Smoked chicken isn't usually super juicy so I expected it to be of a dryer consistency. The best part of the meal was 100% the sausage (I forget if it was a hot link) but it was so flavorful and juicy. I could eat like.. 5 of these in one sitting. The coleslaw was also delicious and I loved the herbs that went into it. I would come back just to have sausages, coleslaw, and some drinks. I honestly don't know why we waited SO LONG to try Hazy BBQ. Good thing we finally came to our senses as we stopped in for lunch.... and we weren't disappointed at all. NOT.ONE. And we dove right in as soon as our meal was placed on the table! First, I must say we really loved the homemade pickles and pickled red onions that accompanied our meal. The pickled red onions were a great compliment to the savory, juicy, draped in BBQ sauce beef and chicken. And the chicken!... oh man, the chicken was super juicy and moist. Not one single dry piece at all. Enjoyed the cornbread, although I would have preferred it be warmed up so the butter could melt all over it. Regardless, it was still darn good! Note: Hazy BBQ offers three types of BBQ sauce (Sweet Smoke, Fired Up! & Mustard Tang), which you can find in the self-serve area. Someone gifted us with a GC so we decided to try one fine Sunday and to our amazement the place was located in the very heart of Danville Downtown which was so beautiful and the choices of food are amazing. We ordered two (2) family size good for 2 so we can have varieties of sides... all of which are really good... we tried their half chicken bbq, pulled pork, tri tip and ribs all of which are a delight. He admitted we got a more lean piece of brisket and it was so good we still chose it for one of our meat options! We Came here on the recommendation of our friends who live in Danville. We were a group of 10 and stopped by for a barbecue lunch on a Sunday noon. I must say their Menu has a lot of options and also cater to gluten free diet as well. We got the barbecue platters with chicken, hotdog and the works along with a bunch of sides mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, Potato salad and garlic bread. Most of these items were really tasty and highly recommended. The coleslaw was ok though.. and for some odd reason it does not match up to close Slaw we normally get at KFC :)... but that's only me. We also got the spicy margaritas and they were delicious. All of us including Kids and grandparents love the food here and we had a very enjoyable time. They have a small parking lot for about 6 cars that gets full quickly. Lots of seating, both inside and outside patio under the shade. Handful of TVs to watch a game on. My eats: 1/3 rack of pork ribs combo plate ($16) and a happy hour glass of Old Rasputin stout beer ($4 for 9% from Fort Bragg). Ribs were super tender, fall off the bone and seasoned well, even before I dipped it in one of their BBQ sauces. It came with slices of dill pickle, pickled red onions, garlic bread, and choice of 1 small side (I chose their tangy coleslaw which has a hint of ginger in it). We decided to switch things up by ordering from a barbecue restaurant for our Thanksgiving meal this year. And this place did not disappoint. We decided to order a variety of things, so that we could try a lot of different stuff. We got barbecued turkey legs, turkey breast slices, tri-tip, sausages, brisket, etc. We also got a bunch of sides: cheesy potato, stuffing cooked with sausage, mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and a bunch of different sauces including honey Dijon mustard barbecue sauce, regular barbecue sauce, and so much more. I know that people typically would start with the star of the show: the meats, However, the sides that we got from this place were extremely good though. Let me start with the cheesy potato; it was like mashed potato, but with extra goodness from the slightly charred, caramelized cheese all over it. It was extremely delicious. The mac & cheese was equally delicious and cheesy as well. The stuffing was probably the best stuffing I've ever had in my life, it was flavored with sausage so it was savory, yet at the same time I don't know what they put in there but it also had this subtle sweetness to it, which kind of balanced out the savoriness from the sausage; it was perfection. Their Brussel sprouts were just mediocre to me - I was expecting them to be more charred and crispy, but I did not get either. For the meats, my favorite was the tri-tip; it was cooked to perfection, had a little bit of fat on it making the meat feel very tender, it was very delicious. The brisket was pretty good, but not as good as the tri-tip in my honest opinion. it was not the most tender, but it was very flavorful. The turkey breast slices were just OK, they were a little bit dry, but they were turkey breast after all so dry would be expected. The barbecued turkey legs were quite good; they were grilled to perfection and had a lot of flavor. All of the meats went really harmoniously with the sauces provided. I especially really liked their Dijon mustard fused barbecue sauce; I thought it was smoky, savory and kind of tangy, making it very balanced flavor-wise. I also really appreciated the fact that they gave us some condiments: pickles and pickled onions, both of which were really good and went really well with the meal. The tang from the pickles and pickled onions was really welcome and helped cut through the greasiness and heaviness from the rest of the food. Overall, I was really happy with their food. I ordered the full of ribs and is on promo on Thursday for $19.99. They have variety of bbq sauce to satisfy your taste buds. I was satisfied with ribs with ground pepper spice to give it a little kick and meat falls off the ribs and the spicy sauce compliment the meat. The service was ok. New rep in the front so be patient and bartender kinda there to help. My complaints: the ribs are delicious, however if you want meat on them you may want to go somewhere else. Lucky it was on promo. Customer service is weird and the only place on earth you will be charged for soda water. You don't even get lime or lemon. Maybe a mistake but next time I'll see if there is a water charge. Now worst part, we were waiting in line patiently (again person was new), we were gonna lunch menu missed it by 3 minutes because worker was figuring out system. We came here for my kid's school fundraiser. This was our first time here, and we will definitely be coming again. The staff was super friendly. The food came out quick.
