An important part about this review is that my order was take out (not dine in). Food quality typically drastically decreases when the kitchen-to-mouth time increases; this fact is irrelevant in some of the item comments. I came from 15 minutes away. It closely resembles disintegrating foam from a car seat that was abandoned and left in the sun 20 years ago. (This bun was also used in the pulled pork sandwich.) I'm confused why one would use this type of low grade bread. Good thing for the restaurant that this is just my opinion, maybe it's widely liked (I doubt it). I was hoping to find some bbq that is close to Everett and Jones, but this place doesn't even come close to the McRib that they serve at McDonalds. Heard about this place from my sister and brother-in-law who love it. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The front was kind of confusing where to order and pay. It's a fairly new Danville BBQ spot. I got to try the BBQ Sampler plate which comes with brisket, pulled pork, chicken, ribs and sausage. I also tried their side of cheesy mashed potatoes. It's definitely enough food for a couple of people. The sauce is self serve, there's stacks of small sauce cups you can grab near their soda fountain. Going with 5 stars due to it being an overall pleasant experience each of the many times I've been, and all the different groups I've gone with. Hazy's just makes it easy. We've enjoyed garlic bread, ribs, chicken, an array of sides and salads, nachos, chicken wings, brisket, carrot cake...goal next time will be finding a spicy bbq sauce. My taste buds weren't feeling the spice this time with the one I picked. I like the privacy of sorts that the wide-open space affords us. Regardless of whomever else is also dining there, we can engage with each other in a fashion more like in a home setting. Ordering at the counter, place-setting and saucing on our own, wrapping leftovers, getting assistance at the table or counter as needed...all with zero stress or effort. Been here several times. This place has solid BBQ very good brisket, pulled pork and other meats. Pickled veges are the bomb as well as fried green beans. Also Love the patio, TVs and great beers. We had a really good experience with the staff at Hazy. We were a relatively large party and I had made reservations before to make sure they could accommodate all of us. Cameron called me to confirm the party and asked if we wanted to be seated inside or out. She also gave me a heads up that there was going to be another large party before us so there might have to be some adjustments on the seating. She called me again about an hour before our arrival letting me know that she seated us inside because of the live music outside to make conversation easier. When we arrived, Ryan confirmed my pre-order of food and the timing. He also checked in with us several times throughout the night. The hospitality of the staff was more than I expected. My vegetarian wife was going out, so I took advantage and got some bbq to go. Ordered online, took about 15 minutes for it to be ready. Parking was easy for pickup, but I was a little shocked to see how close all the tables were for outdoor dining. It did not look, from my perspective, that tables were six feet apart at all. Additionally, diners were not wearing masks in between courses and had them off almost universally- which may be fine for some. The food itself was good- I got the small sampler for myself and had leftovers for dinner the next night. Nice smoke flavor, good sauces, not too salty, etc. The food also has a good value- not too expensive for the amount of food you get. Just beware if you are not vaccinated or don't feel comfortable in crowded places yet, it's probably better to do to-go. read more

The brisket was tough and dry (not properly smoked) and with just a little flavor of smoke. The tri-tip was not as bad but certainly not good. We had to cut the meat into very small pieces and eat it with the onions for anything coming close to flavor. The sides were good but not mixed, meaning you got just cabbage then got pure vinegar in your next bit. We mixed ours ourselves. I've tried almost everything on the menu and tonight the Saturday special was a gigantic beef "Dino" beef rib about 1.5 pounds. Oh my it was so good, my husband I had garlic bread, cheesy garlic smashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts and of course two jack and coke slushees. Had andouille sausage, chicken and pork ribs. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The ribs fell off the bone. The sausage was a little dry, not as spiced as I like. The red onions and pickles were good. I was not a fan of the potato salad. It's skin on potatoes and it was tough and tasted a bit like wet brown paper towels (don't lie, you know what they taste like). Order from the counter like cafeteria style. Person taking orders is so helpful because the menu is huge and a lil overwhelming if it's your first time there. Order drinks and desserts at the register. You can watch them pack up your food but you don't gotta like stand at the glass and talk to them for anything, they have your ticket. Went back a 2nd time in one week because I wanted to bring my mom along! So far have tried: - mo ceaser salad - southwest salad thing (not the name but haha) - cauliflower - brussel sprouts - fries - cheesy mashed potatoes - garlic bread - 1/2 lb bbq salmon - 1 Dino rib - 1/2 lb brisket - carrot cake All of it was delicious. Garlic bread is crazy good! Their menu outlines items that are vegan and vegetarian (heads up the Mac n cheese is not listed at vegetarian wahhhhhh ) so it's a pretty diet inclusive place despite it being BBQ. Outdoor seating is nice, lots of TVs for entertainment, right off the main drag too so nice for people and car watching (just look out for the real rad trucks who gotta fly down the street with trump signs hanging off the back). Wow, this restaurant is awesome. I have a lot of dietary requirements and I was well taken care of. The manager, Ryan, was amazing. We had a table of 6 and we all ordered separately. I asked about specific ingredients in their food and was told there wasn't any by the staff and the counter. Ryan immediately came to our table and asked what our requirements were and replaced anything I couldn't eat with something I could. He was very personable and funny. We just got back home and I can absolutely attest that this place is amazing. First, the food is spectacular. We got the five meat sampler to try a little of everything and nothing disappointed. The winner hands-down were the ribs but the burnt ends and accompanying sauce were spot on. Nothing disappointed. The people working the front counter were super helpful, knowledgeable and pleasant on top of being incredibly efficient. Where do you find that these days? They had a phenomenal beer selection and the guy working the register had a great conversation helping me pick the right beer to go with all the BBQ. He nailed it with a hazy IPA from Original Pattern. Super family friendly. A little loud, but that's what you should expect in a restaurant frequented by happy families. Everyone was obviously enjoying their meals and the ambiance. The table next to us even brought their grandpa there for his birthday. Now...to the trolls who rated this place one star, you are everything that is wrong in this world. I've read the worst of the reviews and they are clearly people who walked in the door with a bad attitude and were praying one tiny little thing was not to their liking so they could draft a scathing review. My friends and I decided to ring in 2021 with Hazy Barbecue. Known for their "Texas style smoked meats," Hazy Barbecue was the perfect New Year's Eve feast. Due to COVID, take out / delivery only available at this time. We picked up our order on December 31, 2020 around 3:30pm. Since it was New Year's Eve, they closed at 4pm. Upon arrival, there was already a line formed for online/phone orders. It moved quickly. The employees were welcoming, attentive, friendly and professional. There's a small parking lot adjacent to the building and I can only assume it gets packed quickly. While waiting for our order, I took a sneak peek inside. It's clean and beautifully decorated; the amazing smell of BBQ made me even more "hangry!" I definitely want to come back once COVID is behind us so I can dine inside or even on their outdoor patio. Hazy Barbecue is located in the heart of Downtown Danville. My friend swears my future husband lives in this affluent town. lol. I digress. I love that Hazy is family owned and operated. It was started by two brothers, Sean and Brendan, who have always shared passions for barbecue and beer. So in 2018 they brought that passion to life when they committed to bringing Hazy Barbecue to their hometown of Danville. According to their website, "our barbecue technique parallels Texas style; smoked meats with signature dry rubs over oak wood fires. And although smoky, tender, juicy fare is literally 'the meat' of Hazy, we also offer a variety of delicious salads, fresh vegetable sides and many unique options for all ages, diets and lifestyles." We ordered brisket and bbq pork ribs and their "mo' caesar salad, enough to feed 8. We were a party of 4. Let's just say we had leftovers, but not much ;) The brisket was flavorful and tender. That yummy smoked bbq flavor, though! Definitely a 5/5. The pork bbq ribs were my favorite. The meat literally fell off the bone. Without a doubt 5/5. Nothing special about the Caesar salad, but it was good and I'm happy I got in my greens for the day :) Overall, excellent service and delicious meats. This place caught my eye once when driving around the area because of the live music. Decided to try this place out for a date night! I ordered the brisket and my boyfriend ordered the tri tip. The brisket was pretty tender and pulled apart well! Pretty decent. I think the flavor heavily relied on the BBQ sauce rather than the actual meat itself. I actually did not like any of the sides except the fries. You can't really go wrong with fries but the tangy coleslaw and the Mac and cheese were extremely bland. The Servers take your drink order while you wait in line, and then if you want to order food; you wait until the counter person serves you. We sat outdoors and were able to find a table. I actually lost an article of paperwork possibly between the BBQ place or the previous place I had visited earlier. I left a message with staff and checked with the servers after I left. Surprisingly, they called me back, but unfortunately for me there weren't able to find my lost article.
