BBQ in Danville. That's one type of food we have been missing here. Ordered the family pack. It came with Brisket, pork ribs, half a chicken, pulled pork, and sausage. We also ordered fries and the Mo' Caesar salad, Middle earth salad macaroni and cheese and bbq beans. Everything was pretty good but the brisket was really dry like it had been cut and sitting out for a while. The salads were really good and this is a bbq place. Staff is friendly and order was ready pretty quick. Ordered at the counter and then pretty much take care of yourself. Seating, drinks utensils plates and napkins. Doesn't deserve 3 stars but gave them 4 stars because it's a local place. Also my expectations might be a little higher right now because I just came back from eating Texas BBQ for a week. read more

This has to be the worst BBQ in the area. I have tried this place on several occasions and it's gotten worse each time. I got the "fatty" cut of Brisket from the point. It was dry, lacked flavor, rubbery,etc. How can you even consider this BBQ. This is utter trash. I would go to other BBQ places in Pleasant Hill or Walnut Creek. Was super excited to try this place but if you know your BBQ this place is sub-par at best. When you walk it looks like a production line instead of a homestyle BBQ joint. It felt very quick moving and the front staff was a bit short with our questions regarding allergies. No one in our group was particularly impressed with the food. Some of the comments: 'The beans are canned with some flavoring added' 'Burger is average, on the smaller side' They label everything on the menu that is 'gluten free' but it doesn't help if the restaurant hasn't trained the front staff how to address questions. Super disappointed on the knowledge of the staff. I also ordered garlic fries as they are clearly labeled 'vegan' on the menu. I am dairy free but I guess I should have still questioned the label. These came with cheese and buttery like substance on them. I liked my burnt ends and brussel sprouts but didn't like the whole feeling of the place. Seemed like high volume, low quality. Staff didn't even know if the ribs were baby back or not... I mean come on, don't hire people and not train them on basic BBQ knowledge. my mom doordashed me a bbq salmon meal for $33. i expected a ginormous, substantial portion for that type of money. imagine my dismay when i open up the bag and the "meal" they give me is a salmon piece 4 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, a side of brussels sprouts, 2 thin slices of garlic bread, and a bland side of fries. FOR 33 DOLLARS. "well maybe quality over quantity." the salmon is bone dry. there's not even a hint of barbecue. i am struggling to get the salmon down my throat because it's as dry as the sahara desert. for $33, i'm left with a subpar "meal" that looks like it came straight off the kids menu of a third rate diner. Very crowded bbq restaurant but they had indoor and outdoor seating. We have an infant so we sat inside where it was more quiet. We ordered $80 worth of food and it was brought to us cold. We had to go back to the front and ask them for fresh food. The customer service was good, so that's a plus.. they gave us a new meal that was more warm but not hot in temperature. We didn't want to go back again but we like our bbq hot when it's served. The place was clean but things were a bit scattered as far as condiments and silverware. The bbq itself was okay. They have great ribs and macaroni but everything else was average on a food scale for taste. The food was a bit bland and the meat wasn't as tender as we thought it would be, except for the ribs. There was too much of a charcoal taste to everything and it honestly wasn't too impressive. Visually everything looked great but it was poor in taste. Don't recommend going here unless you live in Danville and absolutely are dying to have bbq... we weren't impressed. Burnt ends were dry. Coleslaw tasted weird. I had the opportunity to try this place out last week and ordered a barbecue combo plate which included tri-tip, sausage, pulled pork, and ribs. We also tried the beans and the macaroni and cheese. Overall the meats were pretty good However I thought the tri-tip was overcooked and a bit dry. The pulled pork was decent and the ribs were good. But both definitely needed sauces. They did provide three types of bbq sauces that were tasty. The beans were above average and the mac & cheese was not bad at all. Overall I can't complain with those two dishes as well. From a food perspective I thought this place was just OK having been to Kinders and other bbq spots. I did however like the location and the ambience of the restaurant and the outdoor seating. I received an email announcing the addition of a new beef bone item but that it would only be available on weekends. I called them to ask if they had them for this coming weekend. I was told they were only available on weekends. So, I made a reservation for us and another couple to join us. We got there on Sunday, April 3, at 11:30 AM. We all wanted to try the new rib dish. But when we tried to order it, we were told they didn't have the item. So, we didn't get to try them. We decided to stay and have breakfast, anyway. We liked our food and the outdoor patio is really quite comfortable. They have very unique salads. And the serving portions are good sized. We had a nice brunch. This would have been a 5-star rating except they did not have any of the beef ribs available for service at that time. We came here expressly to try the new item. This review is for the food I had at Dust Bowl in Livermore. Hot dang their food is gooooooood! I'm big into barbecuing and smoking and they definitely know what their doing. I can't stand eating fat with my meats but the brisket and the fat with was excellent. Their barbecue sauce is definitely something so dang good. Their pickled onions and pickles are perfect. If you want Garlic Bread --- this is the place to go! It is a family favorite solely because of the garlic bread. The BBQ is so-so and a bit hit or miss. Don't get me wrong, it's a fabulous spot -- and probably one of the best (if not the best) in Danville. But... that's not super difficult to be as there are not that many BBQ choices in Danville. So, there may be times when I have gone multiple times in a week, and the quality is MUCH different one day vs. another. Some days dry - others days perfect. The seating fabulous! There is indoor and outdoor seating. On Thursday and Fridays there is live music. The TV coverage is also hit or miss, somedays it works outside and other days it does not. I found myself in the Danville area and wanted to give Hazy another shot. This experience was slightly better than last time - call it a 4.5. The brisket was still lukewarm to almost room temp, but wasn't oxidized. Unfortunately, the slicing needs work (IMHO). I asked for 1/2 lean and 1/2 fatty. At most bbq joints, this means some slices off the flat and some off the point, not slices from the middle that are 50% point on top and 50% flat on the bottom. The brisket also wasn't sliced uniformly - some slices were as thin as 3/8" on the top and 1"+ at the bottom, so overall, by weight, I probably ended up with 75% lean and 25% fatty. The parts from the point were absolutely delicious though - perfectly seasoned, moist, and I feel a much more pronounced smoke flavor than last time. Unfortunately, the flat was dried out. BBQ is hard - it's hard to render all the fat and connective tissue while keeping the flat moist - but at least help yourselves and don't give 1" thick pieces of the flat. Everyone knows you save a dry flat by slicing it a bit thinner. I also tried the burnt ends and a sausage link. The burnt ends were good - sticky, sweet, delicious nuggets of brisket. The sausage on the other hand was really dry. I don't think they're making their own sausages (at least it didn't taste homemade - a bit too homogenous) and these were clearly left in the smoker way too long. We had Hazy BBQ cater our son's 1st bday party this past Saturday. I can't recommend the food and service enough, especially in a large group setting. We had ~70 people and heard nothing but compliments for the food. Portion size was excellent. The brisket stayed juicy. All the sides including the pesto pasta and the Brussel sprouts were well received. Another big hit was the nacho bar with all the accompaniments including an excellent salsa. They delivered on time, set up well, and provided utensils and serving spoons. A great experience and I would definitely consider them again if I'm hosting another party or event. read more

TL;DR: If you want room temperature flavorless barbecue, come here. I've been here before and it was okay. My girlfriend reminded me that I didn't like it before but I had a bad craving for barbecue. I ordered for pick up and arrived a few minutes after my scheduled time. Once I got there, there was about a 10 minute wait for my food even though I had placed the order 40 minutes ahead of time. I ordered 1 pound of tri tip, burnt ends, brisket, and a Dino bone. Also got a side of Mac and cheese and cole slaw. The brisket, which should be a staple item, was BY FAR the driest and worst brisket I've ever had. Majority of the food room temperature at best. Dino bone was flavorless, and did not have a lot of meat. Certainly not the "1 lb+ of meat" advertised online. Tri tip was okay, but over cooked. Not pink in the middle at all. Mac and cheese was mediocre. Burnt ends and coleslaw were the best part and why they get two stars instead of one. read more

They were patient and cheerful and let me try a sour cider (I didn't care for it) and figured out how to discount a half pint of Pilsner. Food was very good. I'm not docking stars but the owner needs to fix the lighting above some of the tables. Sitting at the farther round 4-top across from the coke machine is like being in an interrogation room with the light blaring down on you. If you want a meal that tastes like a 1985 Denny's with a new cook, then order delivery. If you want a good bbq restaurant to eat at, go there and eat onsite. I love Hazy BBQs afternoon Happy Hour - 7 days a week. They have an excellent wide selection of great draft beer, a terrific view of the Clock Block in Danville from a sunny patio, a Sonos sound system (sometimes Live Music too), a fire pit/heaters, lots of shade if you prefer, TV screens and a variety of comfortable seating. Their lunch/daily specials provide very reasonably priced and tasty menu items to choose from including daily/weekly specials on food and drink. I particularly love the Thursday $20 Rack of Barbecue Ribs to go special and usually grab a Happy Hour Drakes before heading home. I haven't had the nachos yet but next time my buddies and ride our ebikes there and hang for a bit, I am going to try those too. A variety of salads, meats, appetizers and drinks too. We have ordered from Hazy a couple times since their opening and have always been pleased. By far my favorite are the ribs. Husb and kids love the brisket.
