Headlands, another long time get here, brings a different culinary feel to our town and the change is welcome. A cash only location that has an artsy, chic and bohemian feel. You are greeted as a local and served as a lifetime friend. The menu choices focus more on health than fat with a variety of vegetarian dishes. We chose the waffle, special jalapeño bagel with lox and Pompeii panini that my daughter chose. Funny that is her mom's favorite as well. This is a great spot on Laurel Street, our shopping hub. The One That Got Café Stopped into this quaint coffee shop, located in charming downtown Ft Bragg, to grab a cup o' caffeine. The layout of the store is warm and inviting with it's all-wood interior, but the service and feel of the ambiance is one of inhospitality and pretense--I know pretentiousness is kinda SoP for coffee shops but this was over-the-top. The Good: *I must say they do make a damn, fine white chocolate mocha. Really tasty blend of Joe, flavoring and cream made this one of the best drinks we've had in a while. *Blueberry scone from a local bakery was delicious. Not too sweet and packed full of blueberries. Cute little Cafe up in the tiny town of Fort Bragg. They have a nice little menu and some pretty good coffee, if I do say so myself. Haven't been able to try everything on the menu, but I'm sure I'll be up and around this vicinity more in the future and can update as I go along if need be! When I saw slices of Princess Torte in their glass display case, I immediately knew I had to try one! It was delicious, reminding me of the ones I had in Sweden - very light, moist, and not too sweet. Their eclectic selection of coffee was also very tempting, but that day I felt like having something lighter on caffeine, so I selected the chai tea - very good, in a smooth and light kind of way which paired well with the Princess cake. We also tried the Veggie Frittata and Bacon Frittata. The staff re-heated them for us, which was really nice. Everyone here was very kind and social distancing was well enforced! Coffee was good & atmosphere is nice with a locals vibe. Free WiFi. It seems the owner has some weird control issue regarding to-go cups, which imo takes away from the experience. I prefer to-go cups because a) they keep the coffee warmer longer, b) they are 16oz vs. 8oz and c) I can drink some on site and some on the road. If the owner has an environmental issue I'd suggest he invest in compostable cups. If it's a cost issue charge for to-go cups. But to insist the customer not have their coffee the way they like it is not good business at all in my view. When I mentioned (to who I assume to be the owner) it was a strange policy he defensively replied "No it's not." I love a good local coffee shop, but this wasn't it for me. Thankfully, I read the reviews beforehand and had cash on me, but their cash only business is quite annoying and outdated. I ordered bagel special and iced vanilla latte (suggestion: please start carrying oat milk!). Someone took my bagel so they remade it for me on toast since they ran out of bagels. I was quite disappointed when it came out disassembled, not even the cream cheese spread out on the toast. The taste was okay, but the long wait for it was not worth it. The cashier was losing his patience because he wanted to take a break ( there were 3 employees how the f*** can the staff not rotate breaks instead of closing down!?). They continued to let people in so.... The barista gave us the right order but the WRONG size. When we asked her that the size should have been a large instead of the small she replied "well that's what my staff wrote down", she turned around got the ticket (it was actually a pink POST-IT note lmao), walked back over and said "oh I lied", then turned back around leaving us hanging awkwardly without saying anything. I thought Headlands Coffee house was really sweet. They had lots of different pastries from Costeaux and also house made breakfast sandwiches, burritos and quiche. I could see the love in each item prepared in house. The baristas were laid back and kind. I got an iced coffee and for non diary milk options they had almond and soy. That was a fun blast from the past so I got almond. The coffee was nice and the price was right. We walked around downtown and had so much fun exploring antique stores and shops that sell only socks and some interesting alleys with gorgeous murals. So very disappointed. I'd been coming here for many years to relax and enjoy a Cappuccino. I personally enjoy my coffee from a paper cup where it stays warm longer. Today for the first time, the server refused to serve my coffee in a paper cup unless I left the cafe. She rudely explained that it was a "takeaway cup", so I could not enjoy it inside. Then she complained about the cost of garbage service to dispose of the cup! I offered to pay for the cup and its disposal, but she insisted that I leave and consume my cappuccino in a paper cup OUTSIDE the coffee shop. Lame service! read more

I wanted so much to grab a delicious coffee and pastry, go sit and watch the waves. Ordered an almond croissant and ginger molasses cookie with a simple cup of black coffee. Croissant was tough and chewy, not light and flacky and the cookie had good flavor, but was also kind of gooey. I ate the cookie, tossed the croissant. Coffee had zero flavor at all, that also got tossed. The guy at the register had the "what do you want, your annoying me" attitude.
