Updating my review because Jamie, the owner, reached out after reading my feedback and invited me…read moreback to give The NOW another try. Wow. My second experience was night and day. Jamie recommended Louis for deep tissue work, and he was exactly what I was looking for. He was professional, thorough, and clearly very experienced. He checked in throughout the session, listened to my concerns, and knew exactly where to focus. For the first time in a long time, I walked out feeling like a completely different person. The tightness and pain I had been dealing with were significantly improved, and I finally felt like I received the deep tissue treatment I had originally been looking for. I also want to thank Jamie for being such an attentive owner. She took my feedback seriously, followed up personally, and genuinely wanted to make things right. That level of customer service is rare and says a lot about how she runs her business. I've already booked my next 80-minute massage with Louis in two weeks and am happy to remain a member. In fact, after this experience, I'd even recommend The NOW to my husband. Sometimes the true measure of a business is how they respond when a customer isn't completely satisfied. Jamie and her team exceeded my expectations, and I'm grateful she encouraged me to give them another chance.

I popped my massage cherry…read more I ended up coming here on my birthday for a birthday massage. I was massaged by Jo who was extremely kind and thoughtful. I was able to try their 55 minute Swedish massage. The ambiance inside is dark, calming, and they have ocean waves as audio going. It is amazing. The set up is cute and aesthetic, they have a basket or hanger for your clothing and a bowl for your jewelry. The massage bed is heated so it is nice and warm in there. You won't get cold. They also have a sheet and a sheep skin looking top blanket that adds a small amount of weight that is enjoyable. Prior to walking in there's a small area where you can talk to your massage therapist and let them know about any preferences, ad ons or problematic areas. The only thing I did not like was that the lotion used leaves such an uncomfortable feeling on the skin. I don't know what exactly they use but I could just *feel* the layer of lotion sitting in top of my skin. I was itching to take a shower. It was not my cup of tea. Jo was amazing! I had so much joy and relaxation out of my massage. I had plenty of knots that she found in my upper shoulders but I did not choose to get the deep massage because I definitely would be crying and biting on the bed. My knots are crraaazyyyy so slowly but surely I'll be able to handle them coming out. I know home girl was like "this girl has some terrible shoulders" but everything is a-ok. She applied the appropriate amount of pressure and is receptive to feedback. The service overall was extremely friendly. They have complimentary water with citrus or regular water. Parking is in the garage or on the street. They do have a restroom.

She takes the time to understand your skin, your goals, and what's actually going on instead of just going through the motions. There's never any pressure, just helpful guidance that's clearly based on what will actually work for you. The spa itself is in a super convenient spot in Long Beach and parking is easy, which makes a difference. The whole team is always warm and welcoming, and the vibe is calm and relaxing every time I go. Emma is a big reason I keep coming back, and I'd absolutely recommend checking this place out.

I have heard mixed experienced from locals about Belmont Shore Spa and thought I would at least give it a try because the rates looked very affordable. I originally talked with Diane about a 90-minute deep tissue and at the time 60 was avail for the next day. I booked that for the next day and was told she would send verification to text and it was not received till next day (minor concern). But I got a nervous feel, and I was told many times CASH! That is no problem. Then what seemed like a nice shift.. I was informed Lynn could take me for 90 minutes if I came by right away. And I asked fee and was told $100 cash which is also listed on the website. Great .. easy . I grabbed a $100 and was out the door. Parking was horrible though and I had to walk literally 4 blocks. Upon arriving Diane was friendly and introduced me to Lynn who seemed tense, and non-communicative. I wasn't expecting just curtains and no private rooms which felt mediocre to me but I understand this type of set up is often customary. I undressed and ask Lynn to please use just coconut oil. The massage was incredibly rough and I had to say a few times to go lighter. The experience was horrible.. tense, then she got on top of me and straddled my body digging in. This felt incredibly uncomfortable though I know this is done in some traditions. But it felt unprofessional. To me there is no need to straddle someone on the table. I wondered if this was some Thai sex massage parlor, it made me uncomfortable. When I tried to talk about what I needed and what to do she shushed me for talking. This made me even more uncomfortable- Though some areas of my body did feel looser after the massage. That night I had horrible pain and felt worse. Now I have had massages for over 40 years and NEVER once had this kind of reaction. I still have burning in my shoulder and felt she caused injury. To make matters worse then I went to pay $100 which I was told and she said it was $105. Luckily I had atm which sometimes when paying cash I don't bring ATM. . So felt extremely tacky to atm me for $5. Next I was never asked by Lynn or Dianne if I would like to leave a tip. AND TIPPING IS OPTIONAL!!!!!!!!! Hassling customers for tips is simply unprofessional .. HINT Customers will WANT to tip for exceptional care and service. Before I left I asked some other questions to find Lynn for example is there 9-6 M-F Like seriously? I get it now. This is a sweatshop slumlord style operation where they overwork their massage therapists and probably pay them little. Instead of basic business skills. Then I'm on the Freeway about 15 minutes later and receive a call from Dianne asking where is the tip? Are you serious? How stressful, tacky, unprofessional and just rude. .. Completely unprofessional, miscommunication, misrepresentation on website of fees. SO yes this is one of the cheapest spots in 90803 area code but now I know why. If you want a cheap massage this is your place ===customer beware! I have now talked to two other neighbors that had horrible experiences at this location. This review is on Diane and what I experienced, and the painful and unfriendly massage I had with Lynn. Won't be back, and will tell my friends, to stay away in droves.

I came seeking relief for my neck and shoulder pain, and she exceeded all my expectations. I explained my needs, including deep tissue work to address the root of my issues, and even though I used pretty basic terms and gestures to describe the pain, she understood perfectly. Her knowledge and expertise really stood out. The session was intense yet effective--a classic "hurt so good" experience. She targeted all the right spots, and I left feeling significant relief. I'm hopeful that with continued sessions, including a lymphatic massage and ongoing work on my neck, my years-long pain will eventually be resolved. It's truly inspiring to feel like there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel. I was so impressed that I immediately signed up for a package of four sessions. The only downside is that her schedule fills up fast, but that's a testament to how amazing she is. If you plan ahead or get on her cancellation list, it's worth the effort. She's down-to-earth, professional, and gets straight to work--qualities I really appreciate. Long story short, she is exceptionally skilled, and I couldn't be happier with the service provided. They have you fill out a "preferences" questionnaire that asks if you prefer talking, no talking or talking only if it's self initiated - which is a nice touch because sometimes you just don't have the capacity or desire to talk. My masseuse was good. I got a basic massage and the scalp oil treatment as an add-on. The massage was good but the scalp massage seemed a little short but I would get it again. The facility was clean, the only issue was the water pressure in the bathroom. The faucet was a tiny stream and the toilet didn't flush after several tries. I let them know and they said it was an issue with the entire LBX property. I didn't use the shower. Hopefully will be fixed soon. The price was good comparatively speaking. Overall, I will be going back!
