The "ceviche" is sooooo fresh and delicious! The flight of mimosas is a great deal and def not mostly just juice. The fries are soo light and CRISPY and Philly cheesesteak sandwich was so tasty! I was also very impressed with their vegan cheesecake. I liked it much more than any I've tried before! And they give a good amount of raspberry sauce. My boyfriend got the migas brunch and loved it. The appetizers are very small you order the trio shareable and it's basically a scoop of salsa, guacamole and cheese and they serve it with like 7 stale chips and 8 plantain chips. I order the falafa sandwich the falafa had a smooshy texture unlike Zabak's Mediterranean Cafe (which sadly closed due to the pandemic) the falafa is served cold and over topped with more lettuce than tahini sauce. read more

Bring Next Door BACK!!!! So disappointed that they decided to get rid of Next Door bar, and replaced it with a restaurant next door to Hungrys. The food is OK, nothing to rush back for. The place is always empty when we go to Hungrys. You guys need to seriously think about bringing the bar back. read more

Words cannot accurately express how much I enjoyed Heartbeet! Let's be honest, Texas and in my opinion Houston are not known for vegetarian/vegan restaurants. But Heartbeet is a place that should be known! Coming from Southern California and being a longtime vegetarian, my standards are high and Heartbeet delivered! They had a decent, albeit small wine selection, including vegan and Texas wines, offer classic cocktails and cocktails made with fresh pressed juice. I had an old fashion (my usual) and it was delightful. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak and gyro. Both were on point! read more

We ordered the "Snackers' Trio" as an appetizer and the cashew queso is hands down the best non-dairy queso I have ever had! It tastes especially good with the plantain chips, as did the guacamole (which was mixed with pico) and the salsa. Our entrees consisted of the "Mediterranean Fusion Bowl", "Philly Cheesesteak", and "Crispy Eggplant Tacos". The Mediterranean Fusion Bowl had roasted Brussels sprouts, legumes, grains, butternut squash, and a variety of other things that I just can't remember right now - regardless, the bowl was very delicious and filling. The Philly Cheesesteak was also very good! It had seitan instead of actual meat and I must say, the delicious flavors made up for the absence of meat! It also came with fries which felt very airy and light when you bite into it. The Crispy Eggplant Tacos were packed with flavor. The interior of the restaurant was very well decorated with bright colors and lots of plants - the natural lighting really added to the experiment as well. This place is definitely a hidden gem! Houston's vegan food scene is top tier to most places, so to compete you need to be on it! We came today and were surprised to be the only two people in the restaurant. We ordered from the entirely too small brunch menu, Tofu Migas and a Breakfast Burrito. Both of which were underwhelming and lazy, in my opinion. We LOVE tofu, all ways, but the way this was done needs to be improved. In both dishes the tofu is cubed and barely seasoned, if at all. Both plates were rather small for the price, especially the burrito (it was TINY). Plenty of other places to go for the same price and better quality brunch. The sides to both plates were a few pieces of fruit (pineapple, melon, berries) and home fries that were pretty soft. The cocktails were okay... Also, ONLY almond milk as an option for coffee??? Maybe we are snobby vegans, but there are so many other options much closer to home with better flavors, presentation, and price. We love Hungry's in Rice Village so were very excited to try this place out. The menu states it is a "passion project", which I think is lacking the passion and more of just a project. I know the west side wanted a vegan option like this, but if they plan to stay, they need some improvement. The restaurant itself is very cute and photo worthy. Bathrooms are clean and nice. Ambiance is 4/5 stars. BUT its all about food for me and it was definitely lacking. Hopefully things get better soon! read more

The atmosphere is great, staff is great, and food is even better. Went in to Hungrys (the restaurants next door) for brunch and stumbled upon Heartbeet. I went in to see the atmosphere and see how long they've been open. The waitstaff and manager were amazing. They showed me the menu and let me try one of their juices. SO DELICIOUS and much needed after the night I had. I was able to order from the HeartBeet menu at Hurngrys and tried a lot of the starter options with a sampler. Everything on the menu was delicious. I tried the Philly cheesesteaks as my main course, which was risky cause seitan can be a hit or miss. And it was SO GOOD! Definitely should try this place out. read more

Depending on what you order, you might want to dine-in instead of ordering delivery like I did. The falafel tacos I had the issue with but the cheese steak wasn't what they advertised. The sandwich was onions, bell peppers and mushrooms on bread. No seitan like they said when I ordered. I pretty much paid around $15 for a 3 vegetable sandwich. Smh read more

This place is great! We drove half an hour from the museum district to try this new place. (Will travel for plant-based restaurants!) We were a group of four. One vegan and three omnis, and we all loved our food, the staff and the charming outdoor patio complete with string lights. I highly recommend the eggplant tacos (even if you're not an eggplant fan). The cookie for dessert was excellent. Think of it more like a cookie pie than a regular cookie. It's worth the calories :). Try this place. I think you'll really enjoy it. read more

I didn't know the restaurant was vegan/plant based since I just saw it and stopped by. As someone who is not used to eating 100% plant based food, I really wish they had some grilled chicken as an option to add on. Wow! We found this cute & delicious place on Happy Cow as we were driving through Houston, and we were so glad we made the stop. The food was superb, the atmosphere was chill yet elevated, it was very family friendly, and the service was too-notch. The **Beet Poke Bowl** was AMAZING! The best vegan bowl I've ever had in a restaurant. My husband loved his crispy eggplant tacos, our kids ate a generous special pizza with Brussels and eggplant on it, and we all devoured the spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips and plantain chips. We even tasted some of the ceviche, queso, and eggplant dip, all of which were great. This would be a great happy hour spot, weekend outing, date night, or family meal with kids! Mediterranean with some Mexican dishes and staples like spin dip. I had the burger and shared the crispy eggplant tacos. My husband had a burrito I think because he was curious about the beet potato salad. He is not a fan of beets but he ate those. It was so good. Great flavors and seasoning. Hefty portions. The spin dip was served with tortilla and plantain chips. Drinks were great. We took it home. Lovely meal. My omnivore husband said he would definitely like to come back. Me too. But I've now been to HeartBeet 5 times and each time have ordered different menu items and loved them all. They also have green juice on the menu for a reasonable price. Since moving to the area, I eat at Heartbeet almost once a week. It's always great. So many options for vegans/vegetarians and those who prefer meat can order from the Hungry's menu next door. They have such a cute patio set up. Sometimes servers can be slow especially for a restaurant that's usually not very busy but I still love this place. read more

So glad someone finally brought a good vegan/vegetarian menu to this side of town. Bravo to the peeps of Hungrys. So far I have tried most of the options on the menu and they are great. My only request is something a little more palatable for kiddos who haven't fully adapted the vegan/vegetarian diet. A grill cheese sandwich or a cool peanut butter and jam sandwich.
