I found Gwenn on an internet search. I interviewed a few other designers but hired Gwen after her receiving her detailed follow-up email from the initial visit. In that email she clearly articulated a vision for how my house should be furnished and accessorized. I was sold: "Based on what I gathered from you and your home, I imagine the design of your space would fall somewhere in the realm of warm contemporary, comfy, understated but a touch swanky, masculine, PNW natural / rustic. Neutral and subdued colors, varied natural textures, layered and homey, soulful. Furnished with timeless and quality elements that could work in future homes too." Gwen has executed on the vision perfectly all the while taking my feedback and taste into consideration. Gwen selected furniture, carpets, lighting, art, plants, and décor for my office, living room, bonus room, master bedroom, kitchen, outdoor patio, and hallways. She helped me accessorize my kitchen with all new cookware, knives, silverware, gadgets, etc. Saying that Gwen selected all of these items does not do justice to her work. The pieces selected were of the highest quality. Quality observable to the eye and to the touch. Most the pieces selected are themselves a work of art that give me joy just to look at daily. Some of the pieces were custom made to be the perfect fit for the space. Gwen found the craftspeople and helped design these custom pieces. Gwen was a consummate professional throughout the entire process. She did all the coordination of ordering and deliveries. Gwen found electricians to install the lighting and spent all day here making sure that a custom light fixture was installed. Her punctuality is something that I must comment on because when she told me that she would be at my house at a certain time I could set my watch to her arrival. I sincerely appreciated this punctuality because I believe it speaks volumes to how she cares about her clients and her craft. All of this work and sourcing was during COVID shutdowns when lead times on furniture exploded which made the project more difficult. All of the accounting and billing was online and easily accessible. In summary, Gwen designed the spaces in my home in a way that bring a smile to my face ever day. She did all of the work and minimized the amount of effort needed by me. I couldn't be happier with the result.

After several conversations, Tanya assured me that she could take on the furnishing project. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. She created a sense of urgency around payment right before the holidays, and I paid based on the understanding that the project would move forward. The holidays came and went, but the house was never properly furnished or ready for Airbnb use. As a result, I continued carrying the monthly expenses for the property out of pocket with no rental income coming in. Earlier this year, we mutually agreed to part ways. However, to date, Tanya still owes me thousands of dollars for services and/or work that were not completed. Her failure to perform caused significant financial damage, including months of lost Airbnb income and ongoing carrying costs. At this point, the matter remains unresolved, and legal action appears to be my only remaining option. Based on my experience, I would not recommend hiring Tanya. The lack of follow-through, financial impact, and unresolved refund issues have made this an extremely frustrating and costly situation.

When we bought our house in 2020, we knew one of the first big projects we wanted to take on was a…read morekitchen remodel. The kitchen was dated, small, and hidden behind walls. Absolutely no fun to cook in. A google search brought us to A Kitchen That Works, and Molly. After an extended phone consultation, and then an in-person meeting. The decision to work with Molly was an easy one. She was very knowledgable, and easy to talk to. We completed the initial design and planning stages in the Winter of 2021. Expectations and schedule were set from the get-go. We knew exactly what needed to be done (by us and her) and when. Molly is so in-tune with the industry...when she heard cabinet prices were going to be increased, she let us know immediately, and we were able to jump on ordering before it happened. Construction began in March of 2022 and was completed in June 2022. We were living in the house during construction (my husband working from home). The job site was left tidy each day. Molly has a great collection of sub contractors she works with, each one equally knowledgeable and as impeccable as her. And trust me, the poor electricians were really put to the test at our house! We only had a few small delays, neither of which were Molly's fault (a pandemic can definitely make things difficult). But, communication was clear, and we always knew what and why something was (or wasn't) occurring. I would absolutely work with Molly again and recommend her to anyone. She is not only an amazing designer and general contractor, but an all around good person. I will not hesitate to call her for our next remodel project. Her and Clive are now on our Holiday card list, whether they like it or not!

Known for coming in on or below budget Molly met that criteria. It's clear she knows her stuff and for those who think it's easy handling not only different tradespeople, but personalities, particularly being in a 'man's world', she ran a tight but fair ship and all the workers I talked to privately expressed their admiration for her work. As I sit here and look at all the details in one part of our now open concept downstairs, it's a package that all works: placement of windows, lighting, etc as well as choices of trim. doors, etc. And though ultimately all the choices were ours, she nudged us in areas to find the most practical and aesthetically pleasing elements.
