I came for dinner on Thursday night with a group of friends. Our server's name was Jason and he was awesome! I think he might have been a manager. He was fun, had a good sense of humor, and really helped make it a great night for us. Wine by the bottle was 1/2 off. The pizzas were big enough for 2 people to share. Parking was pretty easy - there's a lot and a garage next to the hotel and in the evenings it was $2 for 1 hour or a flat $4 for the rest of the evening. I would definitely come back. read more

Wonderful experience at the Heathman Hotel and Hearth restaurant. The remodel from Trellis looks amazing, however the food is mediocre. I ordered their burger with fries and the fries were sooooo salty. The salt wasn't distributed correctly. The crab sandwich was decent but they did a lazy job with the salad. Instead of cutting the salad, it was just the entire leafs added with dressing. My husband who had to take care of our baby couldn't eat the salad with one hand. I had to cut the leafs into smaller edible size for consumption. Wish Trellis was still there. We gave this place a try for brunch. First red flag it was pretty empty. Then the couple next to us left with about 3/4 of their food remaining. But the menu looked good and we decided to give it a chance. The drinks were good (they make their own bloody mix). And that's where the good ended. Despite the lack of customers our food took forever. When it arrived my eggs were cold with the inner yolk all coagulated. The bread was either toasted and then cool for so long that it was firm and chewy or it was stale. My partners food (burger) was "okay" but nothing special. At least it was warm. The main issue is that our waiter never came back to check in so we weren't able to tell them the issue until they retuned for the check. If you look at recent reviews, it seems service is an issue. There are so many breakfast and brunch places around - I'd skip this one. read more

I was wandering around downtown Kirkland on a Saturday morning looking for breakfast, so I decided to try this place on a whim. I saw that the reviews were decent, so I was hoping to at least be decently satisfied with the meal. Spoiler, I wasn't. I walked in around 9:15 am and it was pretty empty aside from 2 parties already eating. No one was at the front when I entered, so I ended up waiting a couple minutes before the hostess finally saw me to get me seated. I then ordered the Complete Breakfast and a glass of OJ. The OJ came super quick, to my delight. The meal came about 5 minutes after ordering. The meal itself it pretty "complete" - some potatoes, sausage links, and 2 eggs. The eggs were pretty standard - I asked for over easy, I got over easy. It would've been nice if the meal came with some toast or bread for me to dip in the egg yolk, but I guess I had my potatoes for that. Speaking of which, the potatoes were very crispy, which was the highlight of the meal. They were bite-sized, yet still filling. I wish they gave me more of them. The sausages fell short of the mark, however. They were definitely overcooked, and didn't taste much like anything to be honest. Jimmy Dean has better sausages than what I was served, which is sad to say. Overall, it wasn't a lot of food - I literally finished everything in 10 minutes, and I wasn't rushing to eat or anything. I then got the check, which turned out to be $21! For the amount of food I got, I thought that was insane! They definitely charge a huge premium here, and I don't think it's justified. Located in the Hearth Hotel, parking is available all around downtown Kirkland. I think you can even park for free in the library parking lot, which is just 1 block over. Because of the price, I just can't recommend this place. There are so many other breakfast places around that provide much better value. I hope they either reduce their prices, give more food, or improve the food quality altogether. read more

The food was just okay. The only true highlight of the meal was the breaking bread. Just so tasty and the roasted garlic was addictive. My partner got the Cubano for an entree and liked it. I got the flat iron steak which was juicy but bland even with the steak sauce on the side. Service was rough. I say this because it took awhile to get greeted, awhile to meet our table server, and then another long while to get one alcoholic beverage. 0 stars for the lies. I ordered the duck on suggestion of server as best entree. They brought out entrees and what looked like lamb to person bringing out but server confirm it was duck. So I tasted it and so did my significant other it and it tasted like lamb so we ask server about it. He took it back to kitchen and brought it back out. And said yes this was duck since lamb had bone. It was mediocre and didn't want to hold up the party but looking it up after leaving the restaurant, the "duck" dish that had the pomegranate pieces and kabocha squash that matched the lamb sides vs cabbage and bread pudding for the duck. The server said duck was his favorite dish so both the kitchen and server had to be lying. Kinda funny, but also kind of maddening. Unless you love Gaslighting do not go to Hearth! read more

I used to dine at Trellis often and finally got around to trying Hearth for dinner, on a cool Saturday (early evening) in May. My friend and I made a reservation for outdoor seating along the sidewalk, which was pretty "full" given covid. There is some greenery--so you have a little bit of privacy--and there was outdoor heating, although I left my jacket on. For drinks I ordered a simple glass of bubbles then opted for a side of Sweet Potato Fries ($7) and a "petite" Baby Lettuces salad with green goddess dressing ($7). The vegetarian/vegan options are quite limited, but a salad and fries sounded good at the time so I can't complain too much. The fries were a decent serving size, and a pleasant thickness (not too thin and not too thick), plus hot and seasoned. They were served with ketchup (fine by me) although I believe the menu mentioned aioli? The salad was light and fresh. I prefer a lightly dressed salad and this hit the spot! No complaints regarding the service. I'd be happy to come back if someone suggested it, their craft cocktails do sound tasty! read more

This is usually a consistently good place. Tonight was the exception. They had a special BBQ menu they were pushing and the food was lackluster at best. I had ribs and pulled pork, mac & cheese; and a roll. The ribs were terribly undercooked and tough - rather like shoe leather. The mac and cheese sauce was watery and lacked flavor. The roll was served room temperatures-ish. Definitely not hot. Coffee was definitely sitting for awhile and tepid. A large party with a gaggle of screaming kids arrived, totally ruining what I had hoped to be a quiet evening. I am looking forward to other dining options in Kirkland and will wait until Heath has its act together again. read more

I was relaxing at the fire pit at the Hearth, and was so comfortable I stayed for dinner. Everyone was very kind, especially as I was sitting alone at the best table in the place. The Rye Whiskey Sour was perfection! I followed it up with a Chat. Ste Michelle Cab that was the perfect foil for my Steak Frites! The meat was perfectly cooked and the fries were crisp and hot. A happy little rocket salad was dressed gently (also perfect!) Rarely does a hotel restaurant (in my experience) deliver the way that the Hearth did Saturday night. Thanks!!!! read more

Saturday breakfast. Bacon and eggs. Chicken and waffle. Waffles with berries for the kiddo. Food was good. Coffee was tasty. Service was . . . atrocious. The server literally never visited our table after dropping off the food. I never got a refill on my coffee--and we were there for well over an hour. My kiddo's lemonade was dreadful, and we never were given an opportunity to order a replacement drink The restaurant was not busy. After finishing our meal and waiting for over half an hour, we finally had to flag down a neighboring server to get a to-go box. When the check came, we asked to have the lemonade removed. The bill came, and our server periodically appeared to clear other tables but never came to take our payment. Finally the neighboring server took pity on us and ran our credit card. First time in my life I have never tipped (and I almost always tip very, very well). I was flabbergasted, but since we received zero service, I couldn't see the point. read more

Came here for an event, so we were able to sample a variety of morsels vs. full menu. The patio is nice, albeit on a street - great heat lamps! Inside decor is pretty cool. The food was tasty - highlight was the beef sliders - wonderful flavor... I also enjoyed the pork belly as my next fave. Didn't sample any cocktails, so I look forward to that on future visit. I love this bar! They have a great happy hour and half price bottles of wine on Wednesday's. They are really Covid friendly. The tables are spread out and menus are one time use only. For appetizers we got the cheese curds and the crab fritters, both were fantastic. Great quick service. read more

This review is for our Sunday brunch experience here. They have a large heated outdoor seating area which is open for dine in. They also offer reservations so we were able to book a slot and not worry about waiting. The space is beautifully set, there are plenty of heaters and the space is quite large, so we felt quite comfortable dining in. I did see the staff wipe down each table after every group was done so they are taking precautions for covid. We got to sit near the concrete gas fireplace and were super cozy throughout our meal. The service is great, no complaints, we got our food on time, she was making sure to check on us. I got their farmers plate and my husband got their complete breakfast plate. The food was average, overall could've done with more seasoning. It was good, nothing was standing out. We really liked the sourdough that they serve, and both of our eggs were cooked really well. The highlight were the beignets..they are mostly air, very very light and really fresh! Highly recommend them. My mimosa was tasty too. Overall it was a nice break for us to finally eat out after ages, we felt really comfortable with their setup too and enjoyed the warm fireplace throughout! It is a little expensive though, expect to spend about 60$ for two including drinks. read more

Came here for a Yelp event, and really liked it. Quality: the food is top notch. The pizzas are unique and not greasy. But pizza is really the only vegetarian thing here, which could be improved. Quantity: it's an nice restaurant, so the sizes are on the smaller side. That being said, one pizza is enough for 1. Price: can't comment since I did not see the prices at the event Service: they seemed a bit understaffed, but the staff are nice and accommodating to special dietary requests. I used to love the old restaurant, but this incarnation has poor service, awful ambiance (at least indoors in the evening ), and just ok food. The lack of attention to detail is incompatible with its $15 glasses of wine and $30-$40 entrees. 1. Ambiance: It seems like the lobby restaurant of a motel. Bright lights with a lack of attention to making it a relaxing place cozy, warm spot for dinner. Outdoors for pizza during the summer may be ok. 2. Servers/Service: We were barely acknowledged after being seated for 15 min. Long wait even to get the menu. Long waits for drinks (order and delivery) and the appetizer and main course. They may have been short-staffed, but no apologies or were offered 3. Food ok - not worth the entre prices. The salad was good. Not wow dishes. It is also weird that several dishes had $2-3 extra for avocado or onions Whyese prices - why not fix a price, not add $2 for bacon on a 24-dollar burger. I do not recommend it 'for dinner indoors. I've been going to Hearth for the last two(?) years or since they revamped their breakfast/brunch menu. I like bringing guests there since it's spacious and doesn't get loud even when it's crowded. The outside area is great if I bring my dog and/or it's nice out. Except for the removal of avocado toast on the menu, which I loved, I really like the new food changes. I also like that they offer special menus for Valentine's, Easter, Mother's Day, etc. which allow us to try new items. We've typically had Candice as our server and she's great unless there are forces beyond her control. Mother's Day was definitely not ideal for everyone including the wait staff. She was good about telling us up front though that they were short staffed unexpectedly that day. If that was your only experience at Hearth, I highly recommend giving them another shot as I've generally had a pleasant and yummy experience. read more

I went last weekend for dinner with my fiancé. We did not realize it was Seattle Restaurant Week and it was more crowded than usual. The hostess was able to seat us on the patio at the table we wanted without a reservation. I usually opt for the patio because they have heaters covering the entire patio so it stays warm and it is a great location. The server was very prompt and friendly. We both ended up going with the Seattle Restaurant Week option and were very happy with the meals. I have been going to this restaurant for a couple of years and have definitely noticed there has been a positive change in the quality of food and service more recently. I will be back! read more

Weekend brunch was wonderful!! Recently returning from New Orleans I was on a grits kick and wanted to try the side order of cheesy grits. I have been to Hearth twice in the last two weeks, not only is it amazing food and great staff but right now with Covid they have a beautiful outdoor patio with heaters and even blankets. They also are doing reservations which is nice because a lot of places are not taking them. My coworkers and I made it for happy hour last week and they have an amazing happy hour! The pizza was delicious (wood fired) and the wine for five dollars was absolutely my favorite. Another plus side is a pie on the fly where you get half off ordering a pizza to go. We had such a great time that I also want to shout out our waitress Emily who truly added to our experience and dealt with anything that we gave her, she went above and beyond and I truly thank you! The cheese curds are also amazing and my favorite pizzas are the happy hour with mushroom and sausage , the white mushroom pizza and the duck confit. (The fall time was also delicious) Another great part is that it's a beautiful place for all ages, a couple college friends and I have been and once with my coworkers and another time with my parents. I hadn't been back to Hearth for about 8 years, but visited the restaurant many times since they opened 20 years ago. Last visit 8 years ago was a disappointment. I am happy to report that the restaurant if back to its high standards. Dishes worth ordering are the grilled carrots, the meatballs, and the pasta with ricotta. We LOVED Trellis. It was comprehensive- cohesive- and GOOD! We dined at the newly renovated Hearth last weekend, and we had the Open-faced Crab Melt, the croissant french toast, and the breakfast sandwich. We also had coffee and some orange juice. The cocktails looked awesome, but we didn't get the chance to try any. The menu was really lacking ANY truly veggie/vegan options. Everything seemed ala carte-- which that is not brunch. Bruch is big and hearty and consists of two meals in one. When the food came we were all pretty dang hungry. When we went to Trellis, we were usually greeted, with homemade doughnuts, or a plate of fresh fruit before we even got to order. It was a really nice touch and made it feel like brunch was about to happen. Breakfast Sammie - My husband's breakfast sandwich was as plain as you can get- wrapped up in parchment paper and that was it. No sides, no veggies, no sauces to go with it-- just bread, egg, and cheese. We don't eat pork so we omitted the strip of pig fat. Crab Melt - This is almost sac religious to the PNW- crab is crab -- its beautiful the way it is. No need to mess with it that much and add a bunch of mayo and salmon roe topped with cheese. When I think of a crab melt, I think of bread, a delicious amount of crab and then cheese covering it-- which-- I omit the cheese because seafood and dairy don't really jive. I usually top it with some avo and melted butter and a tomato slice to add a little more fat and acid, maybe some lemon too. Anyway-- this came with a mix of, mayo relish and salmon roe in there-- which gave it an extremely unpleasant taste and texture. I split this with my grandmother-- and she couldn't really eat it either. The French toast croissant - This sounded so good-- but again fell flat- it looked like it was just fried in a bit of egg and put on a plate with whip cream and that's it. I make a croissant bread pudding-- and this is more along the lines of what a croissant french toast would be like. This french toast was lackluster in flavor-- and chewy and actually a bit cold when we dove in. That didn't get eaten either. This was our go-to spot in Kirkland-- such a diamond in the rough. Anyway-- hopefully when we check back in a month or so we will see some menu updates and changes. The new decor is really pretty! Hope to be back!! read more

Little, very little to "experience" here. It was a BIG mistake!! Tried this place for the first time and will never ever ever return!! Started with bland, absolutely tasteless large, blocky potato wedges. Horrible enough that we had to salt them ourselves to try to fix them. Asked for my steak medium/some pink; got it a solid overdone medium. The battered asparagus was barely edible; chewy and stringy. The Cuban was bland; seems to be the theme here. It was like something you would pick up from a work cafeteria; tasted like ham on bread. Honestly, we should have complained about the whole meal, but the server was nice. We gave some small insight, but it will probably go nowhere. Bottom line, this place is a horrible replacement for Trellis. They would have done better putting in a buffet. read more
