This is in deed one of the best hidden jewels of long beach for golf begginers & good golfers working on their short game & putting. Nicely kept greens & enough lights to see the balls until 10pm. Cool sandwich shop & awesome driving range. My biggest complain is golfing 18 holes right after the whole course has been reseeded or punctured or picked. I golfed on Wednesday March 27th 2019 6:30pm , & I had no idea they had reseeded all 18 holes. I had made reservations for a twosome 3 days before the 27th & the guy who helped me with the Tee times over the phone, never mentioned or warned me about the condition of the holes. 18 hole par 3 golf course. Short - almost all the holes are around 120 yards. A few at 85 yards. Nice well maintained course. Very busy! Went at 6.30am and expected to zip around the course. I had to wait a few minutes on every hole. When I left at 9am the parking lot was almost full. The back 9 is a lot more interesting than the first. The front 9 is somewhat generic. Hole 3 - is where Tiger Woods got his first birdie when he was 4 years old. You can rent carts which is good for seniors or people who have difficulties with walking. The fact that you can play here at night automatically gives it 5 stars. The fact that the course is actually pretty well maintained with manicured greens makes you wanna come back for more. I just wish it was a little bit closer to my work/home. I mean, when can you play golf on a winter weeknight and still finish all 18 holes? Probably nowhere but here. It's a short par 3 course, very easy, but if you want to sharpen your short game, there probably isn't very many places that'll beat out this course. When you play at night, it forces you to concentrate to make sure you land your ball on the green, or at least somewhat around the green. If you shank or mishit your ball, chances are you won't be able to find it, unless you are using a glow in the dark ball...which if you are a beginner is a really good tip. If you are 9-6 M-F regular worker like i am that has some passion for golf, but is not crazy over it, you really don't get very many opportunities in life to hit the course. You usually want to spend your weekends doing something else. Playing golf on the weekends at a sub-$50 course usually has long lines and will typically take up 6 hours of your day. At this course, you can finish up your work by 6, drive over to Heartwell, warm up a little, and tee off at 7pm, and finish all 18 holes by 9:30pm! where else can you do this?? nowhere. you just got yourself a really good workout (since it's all walking), and most likely had an enjoyable time. Went to play with a few buddies after work and was expecting something pretty hack and go. I was pleasantly suprised by the well lit course and seriously nice greens. All but hole 7 was very well lit. The tee boxes are a bit beat but have a lot of available turf to work with. All in all for $15.50 for a round of 18 is a steal. This course is pretty fun. The longest hole is around 140 yards. It has a lighted course so you can play at night. It gets pretty backed up at the back 9 because they don't really regulate people from going on. For 16 bucks, im all for it. The driving range is packed in the evening. I was there on a Thursday, and there was people waiting for spots. I wouldn't go for the range. The reason I gave this course 4 star: They have the 15" cup! This is something that Taylormade and the pga got together to make. It is supposed to make the game more run and increase the pace of play. I went for it on a couple of hole and it was really fun. Heartwell is one of my favorite courses- Have been a regular for over a decade, and it was actually here that I first learned how to play! Had an official lesson last Saturday morning, and it really stepped up my game. Definitely recommend if you enjoy golf- Even if only for leisure. Atmosphere: Beautiful and woodland-esque. I always feel at peace while playing, and it's a fine spot for grabbing some fresh morning air. Cleanliness: Putting greens are always cut and watered, and the entire course is void of litter- Very well kept! Food: The on-site restaurant is a great go to- Steaming hot fries and tasty sandwiches, before or after playing a game! Customer Service: Employees are always courteous and quick to lend a hand. The golf teachers really help you develop your own swinging style based on which stances work best for you. Enthusiasm: Passion for the sport is prevalent wherever you go. There are also driving range stations for left-handed golfers. Overall Impression: An excellent course that anyone, regardless of their overall skill, can enjoy with family and friends. Their Google page said it would be open. There are golfers on the course, people on the range. It is 6pm on a Monday and the big guy behind the cash register says the course is closed and not handing out any more range balls. If that's the case Heartwell, update your Google page so people don't drive their thinking you are open until 9pm and have their time wasted. read more

This range sucks but it's the closest to me so I guess I'm stuck. The balls are always wet and dirty. The ball machine goes down all the time and a bucket is really expensive. I also don't really trust the yardage markers. The one good thing is they have lights to hit balls at night read more

What a bummer. We reserved a 6:10 tee time looking forward to playing under the lights. Their website-which has no COVID updates and aged information-FB post 4 months ago, Twitter post 2yrs ago, mentioned no operating hours. A Google search states they close at 9pm. I tried calling the pro shop, and after numerous attempts thru the prompts, never spoke with a live person. At check in, the starter informed us that they are not turning on the lights and that they close at 8pm. Said we might get 12 holes in. What a disappointment. Announcements were made on the course that they would be closing promptly at 8pm. The course cleared to the parking lot where the gate was locked around 8:20pm. Lake was drained, and weeds and overgrowth everywhere. Loved this course-grew up playing this course. Until they figure some things out, we won't be back. read more

This is the place where you want to go for practice for professionalism for fun not only that but Tiger Woods started playing in this place in his teenage years. You got to check out their remodeled dining room kitchen and patio they have a new tables and chairs for the dining room awesome collar and two big TV screens they also have in the patio new patio furniture check it out. This place was in it's prime about a year ago. Now, it's just really bad. There are 3 holes in a row without lights 6th,7th,8th and no mention of this at the proshop when you pay an overpriced rate for only 6 holes... Please replace the lights on the course, this is your bread and butter and it's been like this for about 6 months too long!! While you are at it, try to aim the lights towards the fairways and not at the eyes of the golfer at the tee. This range is suppose to be on the grass a couple nights a week and has not been on the grass for several months. I wonder if American Golf knows about this... It just seems like they are too lazy to switch it, much like skylinks. Also, I called the proshop to see how busy it was and get a tee time, the woman on the phone said "it's empty, there is no one here." 5 minutes later my wife and I arrived to see every teebox on the entire course jam packed with groups of 4 or more. I asked if there was a tournament, and she said no. I then said, I just called and you said the course was empty. She replied with, it was when you called. I said that was 5-7minutes ago, so how do you explain every hole being crowded? She had no answer. She lied to try and get more customers on an already overpacked course. Since the public is not allowed to use the restrooms behind the pro shop, the outdoor restrooms should be maintained, checked and and cleaned throughout the day. The lock on one door is not operable and both restrooms were disgusting. The course could be in better shape, especially the tee boxes. read more

Absolutely unprofessional people working inside except one young man who was kind and apologetic didn't get his name but was very helpful. Two random guys just standing around let my purchase driving range balls while I'm with my son who they assumed the age of. After I purchased the range balls the guy with glasses made a comment about his age and said he can't golf here because he's under the age of 5. That was posted on the desk for the course not the driving range very vague description so understandable but didn't appreciate that he just assumed my son was underage. Very unprofessional. My son is starting out and wanted to practice with him but guess this place isn't the one to start at. Website nothing posted about the age. Understandable this is a golf course and people are there to relax and play and it could be dangerous for a child to be there, it's just upsetting that they just told me my son couldn't golf there. The employees disrespect was the most upsetting thing wouldn't make eye contact with me looked away and went on with there conversation. Once again the young cashier was great and didn't do anything wrong he handled everything after professional seemed to confused about the rules as well when it's comes to the "golf course" that states no child under 5 and the driving range. read more

I have played this course 3 times in the last 4 weeks at night and the 7th hole has had no lights on the tee every time. While this isn't my "home course" I'd definitely say this course taught me how to play golf the most over any other course. Beginner friendly, usually about 120 or so to the hole, all par 3. Course is kept in great condition, especially considering it's only a par 3 which are usually lower end and not too many bells and whistles. This course is fine if you go early morning. Greens are beat up with divots. Good for practicing short game. Had a tee off closer to 11 and almost took 4 hours because there was no regulation on pace of play. Also drunk guys driving around in a golf cart and eventually crashed into a tree. They were a huge risk because they were just smashing the ball and destroying the course with no regard to anyone's safety. Again, no one there to stop this from continuing. One of my parties cancelled on me because they fell ill and went to get tested and I was still charged the cancellation fee despite being there with my other party. This place has no soul. They also couldn't tell me they were charging me when I told them the situation. They decided to be silent about it and secretly charge me 4 days later. Stand up place this is. It's an extreme beginners course. Most holes are 100-120. Lots of people, they do a decent job keeping the greens in good shape. The tee boxes are horrific but again it's hacks like me all day beating them up. Not much they can do. My favorite part of Heartwell is Kim. She usually runs the pro shop on the weekends. She runs a tight ship, no bs. I love that. If she isn't there it can be a show. She knows what she is doing is tough but fair. Thanks Kim you the best. read more

Traps not being maintained, but true lot of places and temporary rules say you can lift out. Busier than normal in COVID era and best to get a reservation the day before. Driving range backs up a bit more too, especially afternoons and weekends, but usually on within 10 to 15 minutes. read more

Honestly the worst customer experience I have ever had. We called this morning to confirm club rental was available for our 7 PM tee time and we were told that it was. We drove 45 mins to play some night golf and had been looking forward to it all day. We were one minute late, got to the front desk to check in at 7:01. The course was not even busy as he just let a solo walk on right before us. He told us that club rental ends at 7 and he could not rent us clubs. We walked out appalled. I went back to beg him to let us rent a set as we had just driven 45 mins to get there. The guy went back and forth with all different excuses as to why he couldn't rent us the clubs, none of which made sense. He finally agreed to rent us clubs but said he would would only give us a sand wedge and a putter. Just a slap in the face. Most people who work in the pro shop are awesome helping people. This guy clearly hated his job and should probably look for something else. I will never return to Heartwell due to this experience and I'd suggest you shouldn't either. Many better courses to play in the area don't waste your time with people who will waste yours.. read more

Has a lot of spots at driving range but the ball machine and ball pickers breaks down often. I have been coming to this place to practice in the past few months and the ball machines and or ball picker broke down at least 5, 6 times during this time period. It's a small little course that has very few golf carts to ride around with I had 8 o'clock in the morning T off time and there are no golf carts available I had to walk the course which wasn't something I really preferred to do their excuse was there was a big group that went out in the morning they pointed out him it was for golf carts for golf course to not have golf carts in my opinion is ridiculous it goes to the heart of the matter how well the course is not kept up and how long it takes to play around of golf because the people in front of your place so slow and there's no Marshall to move people along but of course how can you complain there's no golf carts and everybody's walking I don't recommend coming here at all find yourself a better course read more

Lately this has been my go-to when I want to play an 18 hole course. It's perfect for working on your putting and short game. They have an open field driving range (wish it had an overhead for cover especially during the summer) which tends to get pretty busy. Pace moves pretty quickly, they will pair up two doubles to speed up the pace. They have a nice kitchen you can order a bite or a beer from. I usually grab a beer after hole 9 since it is right in front of the kitchen, then make my way to hole 10 soon after. Carts are usually all checked out but you can walk the course without much issue since only 2 holes are 140yds. The rest are 100-125yds. I bought a monthly membership for 44.99 since it gives me access to the 5 courses in LBC and I get a free large bucket of balls for the course ($15 value) every day and a free beer after you play a round of golf. $7 to play a round (compared to $21) if you're a member as well. Pretty damn good deal to me. read more

The course is Awesome! We live in Temple City and wanted play the course as my Daughter is going to play the SCPGA! I called and asked for info, the Lady on the Phone (Kim) said come to the course if you are a member and we are SCGA members and also at the Arcadia Par 3 ! She hangup on me without listening to me! when we went there around 12 she said the SCGA membership can't be used untill 2 and we would have to wait! We waited! Another person at the counter when she left, let us go to the course and charged us the membership rates! Went there today at 1130 same thing she asked us to wait and when i told her that the last time, the gentleman let us go early with the membership rates, she said that there are always new people and some don't give the correct information! We had to pay full price for playing the course as we could not drive back to Temple city! She (Kim) was not friendly and informative, she also did not treat me well! Her attitude towards me was not nice, while she was nicer to other people! Just because my daughter has to play golf we have to go back! Hope she will be nicer or we don't come across her..
