Place has gone downhill in last - 60 days- one of the brothers who own is no longer there- don't know why and as a result it is not the same friendly place- food is still good, but the soda machine is often out of a flavor or choice and they are not in hurry to fix it! Food: Very good Mexican food! Order the carnitas street tacos and you will not be disappointed. Atmosphere: The restaurant is in an old building, so it isn't much to look at. Very small too. Absolutely the best authentic Mexican food around here. I am from the southern cal area and used to go to all the little hole in the wall joints where you could get authentic (not generic taco bell stuff) Mexican food. If you want down and dirty Mexican, this is a good place to visit. Only once have I been disappointed, and the experience wasn't a repeat. The burritos are huge and really satisfying (I get the chicken), and so are their enchiladas and tacos. I've never ordered anything else from there (sometimes I play it safe), but I've been with friends who have and they swear by the chimichangas, the quesadillas, and the shrimp tacos. The chips are usually fresh and the salsa selection is right on. It took a while for me to love the pico de gallo, but now I can't get enough. I ordered the super carne asada burrito and it was delicious. Now I will say that if you are sensitive when it comes to customer service then this may not be the place for you. Like no greeting when you walk in, they say they don't have cups of water when you know they have water and clearly can see cups (can we agree that we don't have cups of water is a different thing than maybe saying we have water but I would have to charge you for the cup?), and then my all time favorite I can't give you a copy of the receipt. They also didn't answer the phone so I could not call in the order. If you can get past the less than friendly service I think you will enjoy the food. read more

One of the better burritos i've ever had, and i'm the kinda guy that fancies a good burrito. They feature organic tortillas for $. 15 more. Their salsa selection is diverse ranging from the mild pico de gallo (amazing) to the hotter variaties of chili verde and tomatillo. As a person who is literally all over California all the time, I get a decent amount of Mexican food exposure and can say with relative confidence that I can tell the difference between the good and the bad. Hecho en Mexico is definitely on the winning list for me. I got a meat medley of tacos and all four of them were delicious. The only one I had a minor issue with was the carnitas; I felt that the meat was kind of chewy like it was from the crappy part of the pork perhaps. The lady at the counter was super nice and invited me to free chips and salsa. All of their prices are ridiculously low for what you get. Burrito was meh. The meat is low quality as are the rest of the ingredients. Not sure how this is 4 stars but I'm guessing it's a result of having no other options around. Mexican food in the middle of nowhere fairfield. Not somewhere to take anyone but surely a nice takeout venue. Food is good. Nice and hot. Can be better if you dine alone it's perfect. If you go out here, don't expect the best, just expect something good, quiet, relaxing, and cold drinks. Ill return here, for the authentic flavors of mexican food once you are commercially done with the chain "fake" mexican food. Fair prices. Go for the tamales and soft real tacos. I've been here twice. If you come here you really need to sit down and eat to really enjoy the food and take full advantage of the salsa bar and chips! I mean it's not like SD Mexican food or tacos but it beats me driving to napa, san jose, sac, or anywhere saturated with the hispanic population for some dang tacos! We went here for the first time the other night expecting great things based on the previous reviews. I was really looking forward to trying their carnitas because I've yet to find a place in Fairfield with really good carnitas. Previous reviewers had said the carnitas were the best around. We had to order a minimum of $35 to use our coupon, so we tried several things. The prices were quite inexpensive. We ended up with pastor nachos, taco salad with carne asada, 4 small tacos (2 carnitas and 2 carne asada), the chile verde dinner, horchata and 2 other drinks, and a carnitas super burrito. That's a lot of food for $35! The food came out very quickly!!! The chile verde was some of the best I've ever tried! My friend said her taco salad was wonderful. The horchata was ok, a little thin and not so wonderful. We loved the pastor nachos. Really good flavor! I was very disappointed with the carnitas though. I tried the carnitas taco and the meat just had a slightly strange taste. I thought maybe it was just me, or maybe it was a little old. I also tried the carnitas burrito and thought the same thing. On the off chance that it was just me, I took almost the entire burrito home and tried it for lunch the next day. It still tasted like something wasn't quite right with it and a couple of my coworkers tried it too with the same opinion. I'd probably go back for the chile verde and something with carne asada, but in the meantime, I'll continue my search for good carnitas that are close to home. read more

I love this place. Only Mexican restaurant in town with a line out the door. I don't mind the line that only means food is good and so is the customer service. I teach at a local school and used to eat here often enough. The last few times-the quality of food has gone way down. They serve really horrible chips (that they obviously buy from the bag by a distributor). The beans used to be made there, now they taste like canned beans. I am sure that they can't screw up a burrito... but it is not as good as it used to be and I won't be eating there again. I have a feeling it is new ownership as none of the people are the same. So.... yesterday my boyfriend and I tried them for the first time. We were looking for a new Mexican restaurant, so per the reviews on yelp we made our decision. I am a Vacaville native and grew up on Murillo's Mexican food, which I love! So when I read the review from the one lady who said they were better then Murillo's I had to try it and see. It is a whole in the wall restaurant and they usually are the BEST finds, the decor was very authentic the employees were friendly and the service was fast. We ordered two of their steak crunchy tacos, a wet jumbo Carmita's burrito to share (since I read the Carmita's were the BEST) and the chips and salsa. So, first the chips taste store bought, the salsa temp was good but, they all taste like roasted jalapenos, even the guac. :-/ The steak tacos we good once you put a bunch of tapa tio on it. The meat was flavorless otherwise and the shells weren't fried enough very soggy. Then we got to the wet burrito good portions for the money. But, again it lacked flavor, from the enchilada sauce to the Carmita's inside (the meat tasted funny). We each took a couple bites agreed that it was horrible fed the rest to the dogs and went to Murillo's to eat. I don't know about this being authentic Mexican, I have plenty of Mexican-American friends and have had mom's and dad's cooking and it was NEVER with out flavor it would be so good I wouldn't even think about sharing any with my dogs! read more

It was OK. The prices were decent but the food was blah. It tasted like re-heated food that'd been sitting for a while, especially the carnitas (dry and almost jerky-like) and the chile relleno which was very stringy and overcooked, presumably from being cooked prior and then reheated. The sauce they use for the Wet Burrito was good however and if I had to return to buy anything again, it'd be this. It's convenient since we live near Travis Air Force Base. We might return, but only if other alternatives weren't available or we were looking for a quick bite to eat and didn't have time to look elsewhere. For what it's worth, the guy who I talked to on the phone as well as who rang me up was a really nice guy. If they improved the quality of their food, it'd really make a difference in my book as far as frequency of returning. read more

Although it does say that they're open on the weekends, every time I've gone they have been closed. Across the street from Travis Air Force Base in a run down strip mall. Looks dirty and dumpy from outside but decent food. Easy parking, but careful of the huge pot holes in the parking lot. I usually get the chicken lunch special with chicken tacos. Decent prices and staff is friendly. Free chips and salsa with meal, salsa is nothing fancy and chips are basic store bought. This place reminds me of a little restaurant back in college. Simple Mexican dishes with truly authentic flavor. Rather than the cliche, "Americanized" Mexican restaurants too frequently seen now, Hecho en Mexico is true to it's name. The soft taco lunch special is my favorite, particularly the pastor or the carnitas. They also feature hibiscus agua fresca, as well as horchata, and a wide array of Mexican sodas. The food here is amazing and to date this is one of the best Mexican places I've ever been to. I always get chips and salsa, even when I order to-go, and it never disappoints. The staff is also quite friendly. My only reason for not giving a fifth star is that lately whenever I go (just after 8pm), the doors are already locked or I've been told, "sorry, to-go only." If your place of business stays open until 9pm, then your doors stay unlocked until then and you need to continue serving until then. I also inquired about this on a future visit and was lied to, ("no, we never lock our doors early,"). Put a sign out or update your hours if you don't want to do dine-in after a certain point. Would you pay for jumbo prices to find out you get regular result. 1st time here today(1-26-19). I paid for a jumbo burrito asked to double everything but please take out the rice and beans. Waited service fast. I got my food. Unwrapped the foil to find out my jumbo burrito is the same size as a regular burrito. A $3.00 difference. I asked the lady at the counter why is this? Immediately got offended and said we don't double anything. I said so why not just charge me for a regular burrito. And she continued to rant about how I'm offended. Gross Gross Gross. I grew up in Southern Cali and this was nothing like the Mexican food I grew up eating. I went one day with my husband, after reading the reviews on yelp and yuck. I got the lunch special carne asada soft tacos and my husband got the carne asada fajitas. The meat was horrible, chewy with no flavor. Almost no onion and cilantro on my tacos. The same meat was used for the fajitas, what a joke it was so bad. Maybe the carnitas are better, but I am not going to find out. I don't know how this place stays so busy with the garbage they serve. The salsa was watery and bland. Not even close to the worst hole in the wall places I've been to. If you've burnt your tongue and cant taste anything I guess this place wouldn't be that bad. read more
