Question I went to blkdot this weekend and ordered a drink asking for no ice. I even stated that i understood the cup would be much less filled and I was ok with that since I wanted to save it for the next day. the cashier stated to me TWICE that it was now there policy to no longer offer drinks with no ice. He said he would do it this time, but moving forward I should know to not ask for "no ice" in my drinks. when I went to pick up my drink I was then told again by the barista that they can't drinks anymore with "no ice". I mentioned to her that I was made aware of the "new" policy when I placed my order and thanked her for doing it "this time". she then proceeded to tell me 2 more times after that I can't order my drink this way anymore because they are "not allowed" to do this. No one wanted starbs so we decided to see if there was something a little cooler and exciting and we landed on this place. Loved their cup that said "sleep is overrated" I got the matcha ein...the matcha thingy with the foam. It was incredible!! My husband got the vietnamese coffee version and really loved it. My mom got the spanish latte and she enjoyed it! My dad got the regular viet coffee & slurped it down so i say that was a winner too. Used to go to blk dot back in high school at another location but haven't been back in years. My friend ordered a lychee black tea and it was so refreshing, especially after a hike we went on earlier. Came here to try their matcha latte since they use Uji Matcha which is one of the highest grades of matcha from Japan. The matcha powder does come from Uji, Japan and is made from young tea leaves. I haven't tried this grade before but I loved it. It made me have lots of energy throughout the day (very slow burn energy). They do offer a regular and large size which I liked. Usually a lot of coffee places have one size only so I appreciate the multiple sizes they offer. There is parking in front of the store and in front of Pavilions which is next door. The matcha latte was sweet but also left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth which I enjoyed. I also love gardening and they had free coffee grounds to help garden which was so nice and cute. My go to is always their iced vtm and it always tastes great but I got my drink and there was a good amount of space at the top (pictures included). I understand it's kind of a stupid thing cause I'm assuming they usually just add more ice but it's still disappointing cause you're not getting your full cup of coffee (I barely touched my lips to the one on the right of the pictures and look how under filled it is). And on top of that, just look at the hot honey toast. It has the thinnest slices of half an avocado and cost $13. Like ok yes inflation but their toast used to be so good and piled with mashed avocados and veggies what happened. Now it's literally a piece of toasted bread with a little bit of avocado, bacon, and honey so you're definitely overpaying. Blkdot is my favorite place to buy peach iced tea! This is the third location that I've tried in OC and it's just as good as the ones in Irvine. They have a wide selection of drinks from Vietnamese iced coffee to Thai iced tea to Lychee Peach iced tea, which is seriously the best! This location is conveniently located near Laguna Beach with a small one way parking lot but additional parking can be found next door at the grocery store lot. This location has great service, friendly staff, clean storefront, and has consistently great drinks. PRO TIP: Order your read without chia seeds, they aren't soaked prior just raw so they end up feeling a little crunchy or sandy when you drink them. They have a small seating area with umbrellas outside that is shared with the other shops in the plaza. read more

This did it for me. I actually like their Vietnamese coffee but after my third experience all the same I won't ever come back to blk dot coffee. I ask for light ice for a coffee over $8 because if I just wanted ice or a sip of coffee on ice I sure as heck wouldn't pay $8 for it. I pay the price and I at least want my one damn expensive cup of iced coffee that's mostly creamer and still ice. The cherry on top is the gap they leave because of light ice. And God forbid you ask anyone working at 3 different locations they are trained to apparently not ever give you a drop more to fill that gap. I don't know if they threaten to take it out of their paychecks but this is making Starbucks look like heaven. It's ludicrous with the prices they charge that they are so stingy with their coffee. A GREAT WAY TO END My girlfriend and I decided to start out our last day in Laguna at Blk Dot Coffee. I ordered the iced uji matcha latte and my girlfriend ordered the iced VTmatcha. I also ordered the Ham and Cheese croissant. The matcha latte is as expected from what you would find at any other cafe. My current favorite is coffee bean's matcha with oat milk. It's rather indulgent so that is my measure. The VTmatcha came in strong with nuts but I limited myself to just a taste to avoid spiking my caffeine. I am confident that whatever you choose will satisfy you but that's not why you should visit. I will share the real reason you should come next. The beauty of this location is its proximity to Divers cove and Fisherman's cove beaches. A 5-10 minute had us arriving at the water's edge. The morning crispness was still in the air and we shared the beach with only a few dog owners. Enjoying our drinks with this backdrop made this an experience I will not forget and long to repeat. I can't wait for the next time I can grab a drink and walk down to savor it on the pacific. LOGISTICS We parked at the Pavilion parking lot. There was signage that stated parking was only for the market and you would be towed. This seemed like an acceptably low level of risk. But you will need to cross that bridge. There is a small parking lot located at the store itself. But the lot itself is small, and if you plan on walking to the beach I do not think it would be considerate to leave your car for a prolonged time given the size. Went here for a coffee break. Gotten the light Vtm frappe. I love it. There's a nutty taste to it. And coffee is strong enough. The sweetness is perfect as well. The barista is extremely helpful when ordering. I asked to see if I can adjust sweetness. From what I have known, Vietnamese coffee usually have set ratio on the ingredients, sweetness and coffee level. So I was really glad that he tried his best to think of any ingredients that he can possibly adjust to mild down the sugar level and asked if that would be acceptable for us. The service is just excellent. There was a miscommunication in between staffs so one of the barista have forgotten to make my drink and started to chatted with others so I had to waited extra five minutes for her to be reminded that my drink is missed. I was not in a rushed so I thought a simple verbal apology for the inconvenience would have been enough. I would also be okay without it. After all, it's Sunday and the store traffic is slow so it's understandable to be slightly laid back. After I walked out and sat at the dining table to enjoy my coffee. The coffee here is so delicious. My friend came up with an amazing concoction, an iced oat milk latte with brown sugar syrup. Try it, it is absolutely amazing! It's pretty strong coffee, a perfect way to start the day. The pastries look amazing, although I didn't try them, the croissants were huge and looked so delicious.
