Just had a super disappointing experience here. They've never been good, but nothing I'd ever write about. My fiancé and I just wanted to stop for a quick beer after walking the trail. We walked in to the bar to grab a drink and seat ourselves on the patio. There wasn't a single person at the bar- we immediately noticed the bartender (Tatiana) left a tap open while someone went to change the kegs so beer was pouring out overflowing the glass. She didn't acknowledge us when we walked in and sat down, we didn't mind at first bc of the mess she needed to clean (although I still think acknowledging your only bar guest wouldn't have killed). Then she proceeds to ignore us and have a private conversation- not work related- with another employee also noticing we're not getting served at all. He sees me looking and gestures her to look over AND SHE STILL JUST STARED AT US- so I asked if we could have a drink and she just said "yeah" in the rudest way. Takes our drink order, drops them off, says nothing. I asked her to close my tab and she takes my card and charged me $26 for a Bloody Mary and a beer with no printed receipt and only one copy to sign and walked alway without saying a word. My fiancés beer was maybe $7, so she charged the rest for a Bloody Mary without asking if I wanted a premium vodka or anything. HORRIBLE experience. I'd ask to speak to a manager, but in the 10 or so times we've been here we've never seen one. read more

This location has tons of space! Service was professional and staff was very friendly. The meat was tender and tasty. My group went with the meat club which included brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar and black pepper sausage. The brisket cut like butter and the sausage was seasoned to perfection. This place is so off the chart good that I think I'll keep it to myself so the rest of you don't form lines down the street to get in, inhibiting my foaming at the mouth psychotic addiction to this place. They are all equally as addicted as I am). Now that the common folk riff raff are gone, I'll share a couple of surprises I ecstatically fell upon, since you're already scooped on the dripping brisket and meats and the burnt ends and the beyond spectacular steakburgers. One is the "baked potato salad." I cannot eat potato salad. I am literally allergic. But this stuff - this stuff - well, if you haven't yet - boy oh boy. Pop your cherry and order it, trust me. Another is the Texas Blonde beer - really sits well with BBQ meat. And my final surprise is the onion rings. Gawd almighty. Okay, I hear people coming back in so shush for now! See you guys! Proves scaling up is hard to do. Not near as good as original Magnolia location. Despite ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and same food menu , the overall experience was 2 stars. Unlike to original location, here it is cafeteria style which in theory would be good, but it was one of the major process differences that led to a bad experience. We found that by the time we got thru the line and paid, our food was cold and less appealing. 2pm Sunday. First, the log jam began for everyone in line when they were out of potato salad, or thought so, and the lone guy left his position to go ask kitchen for more. +2 minutes and meat getting colder by the second. Moving over to cashier, we then had to place order for the "bar food" loaded potato skins. Paid. +2 min Log jam backing up more when the lone cashier had to go get our banana pudding, found it missing from default location, and went to hunt for it. +2 minutes. I looked back and there were 5 people behind me waiting to pay. This is terrible process management. Because this was slowing everything, I said skip it, I would come back in a few. Go sit down and now must go get utensils, drinks, etc. +3min. The brisket is only good piping hot when the fat is rendered, but now all the food has been getting colder for at least 10min Went back up for the dessert I paid for, she gave a Cobbler as sub for pudding, it was stale and some old corner piece. Should never go out to a paying customer. Had one bite. (see photo) Unlike original, had to bus own tables, but tipped at POS, why the tip?! Staff was nice. Theory is good. This poor experience is all on management. People should never leave their post in a cafeteria line. If you read this far, know that at the original location, you order, you pay, you sit, food comes out all together, it is hot and excellent, they bus the table. Perfect. read more

Best BBQ in Fort Worth. I will also stick to the original location on Magnolia but the new location was really cool. Had the full menu which was great because I could get the items that aren't always on the menu. Can't go wrong with any meat that you get. But their sides are amazing. Their potato salad is by far the best I have ever had. Atmosphere of the new location is good. Its much larger than the original and has a massive bar. Had no problem finding a seat like you can sometimes have at the original. Will be back for sure. read more

Disappointed tonight....we've been to the old smaller Heim multiple times and loved it. Tonight we took friends and it was less than expected. The sliced brisket was very fatty and the fries weren't fresh. The bar service wasn't good. The drinks were good but the service wasn't. They said they couldn't do anything about a warm draft beer (didn't offer to change to a bottle or anything- just said "that's how our kegs are because the lines are outside). When our drinks were ready they snapped their fingers and told us to come grab them (literally 2 bartenders and 3 people at bar drinking-not busy at all) I hope they haven't come down with service with a bigger beautiful building read more

I am all about the BBQ meat when a business trip took me to the land of BBQ. I like their pulled pork and brisket, and mac n' cheese was another good side disk. Since I was there during lunch time, so service is ok and the cashier took time to explain to me about the menu. So, I wasn't sure the bar, but the outdoor sitting was cool. I love the food! I love the sausage with cheese/jalapeños, the brisket, the Mac n cheese etc.. it's great food! It's got a hip new look compared to the Magnolia location. HOWEVER, it is not "new customer" friendly. What do I mean? For starters, there's a "Generic" menu on the wall. For example: No one knows that there's 2-3 sides with their 2-3 meat plates, no one knows that you have to ASK for pickles, onions, and jalapeños. The next thing is the line is confusing! Yes we went on Fathers day and we expected the long wait. Which was actually an ONE hour wait (well worth it, by the way). The line should be more zig zag to let the patrons that are leaving have an easier time getting out the door. They also seemed very short staffed, with tables that weren't clean, we watched for an hour in line how the dirty tables were not being attended to. Perhaps since this place is so new, they are trying to fix the kinks? I do know that they ran out of a ton of things by the time we ordered, which was at 215pm. Next time we go, it'll be on a regular day and not a special day or holiday. I truly love the food here, just hope they get the kinks out and add more staff! read more

Worth. every. penny. Best bacon burnt ends EVER. The ribs were also to die for. The burnt ends literally melt in your mouth. The plate of food (which I really wish I took a picture) had great color, heat and texture overall. The meat was well seasoned and the sides were also quite delicious. We had the macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. The Mac def has a little hatch flavor which I really loved the small amount of heat. It complemented the coleslaw really well which is simple, primarily red cabbage, and surprisingly really good. We went on a Saturday early lunch and there was no line (which SHOCKED ME) and everything we wanted was available. I definitely recommend going sooner than later cause I would t be surprised to see their burnt ends sell out quick. Only downside of the whole visit: there was one stall in the ladies bathroom you couldn't access because the toilet was too close to the door. Probs should fix lol. read more

What's a cross between a rowdy school cafeteria and a hipster shrine? Finally tonight, we went to the new Heim On the River BBQ to see what all the fuss was about. Usually, when a place is uber-trendy, it's not quite up our alley: you're supposed to be so grateful that you're there that you overlook all the bad stuff. That's the case here. The good stuff: bright, big spaces, plenty of parking. I'd get the pulled pork and collard greens again - neither were over-peppered beyond recognition. Bordering on forgettable: You expect the brisket to be a standout, but it was nothing to write home about. The ugly: Oy, where to begin. One of the least-handicapped accessible joints I've ever been to. One hard challenge after another, unless you like a metal bar jamming you in the back. I tried not to cry. Also, we sat in the center seating area, and I'm told that many time during the night, drunks nearly rammed me on the head. Plus, wrong orders! And then there was the baked potato salad with the nasty mystery ingredient I could never pinpoint. Plus, the coveted burnt ends were so hard that I chipped a tooth. Tiny, hard little fries. Some of this will improve with experience; some won't. We'll continue to visit our favorite pitmaster in Northwest Tarrant, who does a better job with BBQ, and we don't have to jump through all the hoops it takes to worship at Heim. read more

A bit disappointed in the new location & with the menu changes (at both locations). First, the cafeteria style feeding is awful. It feels like you're back in elementary school. Passing of the tray, back & forth, it feels so cheap & it's not a cheap meal ($20 for 1 meat w 2 sides & a drink pre-tip). If you want to do the tray, great, have the meat station pass to the sides station. *Let me add that I know they do this down in Lockhart, however those locations have a much bigger separation between stations making that necessary. Here, it's a couple steps and unnecessary. Also, put the ribs back on the meat plate options! The excuse of "the owner didn't like how it looked" makes zero sense. I understand the growing pains but this could be remedied easily with "choose ribs for $X" in place of one meat (for 2+ meat options). Thankfully, the brisket still tasted good. The coleslaw had old carrots used in it which is yucky. Be better. It would be nice if you had more keto options for sides but that didn't reflect on my rating, just a suggestion. There's a TON of seating but parking still doesn't match the seating capacity (we had to park around the corner & walk through a grass field area). While the brisket might be great, I miss so much of the old location charm like the menu on butcher paper for example. The way food is served, etc. I just feel like there's too much missing/taken away & not enough to compensate for it. read more

Ok so first off...$20 for a 2 meat plate with no bread or included drink?? So I'm spending $25 total for self service and eating on paper plates. However if the foods great whatever I'm fine with it. Food comes out and the turkey is cold and dry, I've honestly had better turkey from Dickie's (no offense ). The Brisket was luke warm at best and also dry. Had to douse everything in bbq sauce. All in all next time I'll just go to dickies and save $15 in the process. They used to be great though and I'm not sure what happened but prices have gone way up and good quality way down. read more

We have been there a couple of times this month. They have the best Green Chili Mac and Cheese. It's been great both times we've been there. No it's not spicy at all. It just adds flavor to an already awesome super creamy Cheesy Mac. I had the jalapeño sausage sandwich as well. I believe the bun is homemade. Great sandwich and you get a pretty loaded sandwich. My wife loves the loaded potato skins. It's like brisket Nachos with homemade potato chips instead of corn chips. Do yourself a favor. Don't drive past this place. read more

Out of all the food we tried I have to recommend the twice baked potato salad or whatever it's called and the Mac n cheese! I don't even like Mac n cheese but this was next level! My husband recommends the burnt bacon ends. My kids weren't happy with the Mac n cheese due to the pepper flavor and green specks in it. So if your kid is picky skip the it for them. It was pricey we got 3 meals and spent about $70. Portions were average. BUT that potato salad and Mac n cheese is worth every dollar spent! read more

I'm giving this place 4 stars but it's more like 3.5. The first time we ate here, it was really good! The Dr Pepper burnt ends were sweet and tangy and were like heaven in my mouth. The second time we ate here was a week later. The burnt ends were dry and over cooked and were just luke warm, not hot. I would still go back and eat here. The Heim in the River District is a sweet gem. Great indoor and outdoor space. Great place to bring your dog. Great place for a drink. And their staple is fantastic fall off the bone bbq. From the best Bacon burnt ends you'll ever taste, to taco Thursday promos filled with brisket and/or pulled pork, to a specialty burger loaded with tasty meat and cheese, to tasty corndogs, There's not a bad item on the menu, and the atmosphere is hard to beat. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service! We just left. I am beyond disappointed to write this because their food used to be good. But the staff is so incredibly rude. We just waited for 10 minutes at the front of the line and were completely and totally ignored by the staff. When we finally asked if we could place an order with anyone/someone, the lady behind the counter literally rolled her eyes and stared at us until we ordered. We asked if there was a manager, she came over and was even worse! Immediately started saying they were having a bad day and my family was rude to them. We were not in the least! She then basically asked if we were just looking for a free meal. How insulting! Someone with an attitude like this should never be a manager. I just said we'd take a refund and leave. I will never go back. I have never ever been treated so poorly as a customer. Especially while nicely trying to give feedback to management. I loved Heim before, recommended it to many friends and, being a local business owner myself, I try very hard to support local businesses. But there is zero excuse for customers to be treated like this - especially by a manager - in the middle of a pandemic. So rude. And such an awful experience. Heim may be experiencing growth, but treat people the way we were and it won't last long. read more

They don't have ingredient lists for their items. I asked regarding ingredients because I have lots of allergies. No one knew and said it was prepared off site. The chili made me sick because it did have allergens in it. It is really hard to figure out how to order at this location--a little stressful even. The food also came out lukewarm. The ambiance and decor is great, but given our experience we won't be back nor would I recommend it, especially for anyone with food allergies or sensitivities. read more

Love this new location, lots of parking and plenty of seating too. The bbq and all the sides do not disappoint here either. This will be our new go to location for Heim. I hope this location last for many years to come. read more

We gave the new location on White Settlement Road a try with a couple dozen HS classmates for lunch. The decor is contemporary modern.....interestingly bi-polar for a Texas BBQ place. It is VERY loud inside .....like impossible to converse LOUD. The sound bounces off the walls in there. Fortunately, I suppose, there is an outdoor seating area. I found the brisket to be good quality good tender texture and excellent taste. My plate came with 2 large sides of cole slaw (not your grandmother's kind) and pinto beans, kinda just like the ones I make at home. I found it a bit on the pricier side but I imagine any new location close to the so-called "River District" is going to charge more. Personally I have alternatives that I would rather fall back on where my comfort zone is met concerning consistently great brisket and ribs, price and Texas country decor. Last night we went to the White settlement location of HEIM barbecue, and I must say that the pork ribs I had were the best pork ribs I've ever had! The smoke flavor was great they were juicy and just had the best texture and flavor. My wife's brisket you could cut it with a fork it was just buttery. My grandsons had the hamburger which was excellent in spite of them ordering them plain.
