Kinda a weird experience! I got the burrata salad. The man at the bar asked me if I wanted to add grilled chicken to it and I said that would be great. When it came out it was like this sprinkled on dusted canned chicken on it , maybe pizza or quesadilla chicken. It was not grilled checked at all . Now I am looking at photos on their website Ans here on Yelp and I see that they have revaluation grilled chicken. I am not sure why they didn't add it , even though they clearly have it. Went here with a friend on a Sunday afternoon. This place is nice and had plenty is seating. It wasn't too busy went we arrived. The parking lot is small and very tight to move around when busy. We were able to find parking. We ordered a beer flight to sample there beer varieties. The ones I had were pretty good. You were able to pick the beers you wanted to try and you are able to pick 5 types. I also ordered the shrimp tacos and those were delicious. The service was great. I've been hearing alot about this brewery, so I finally checked it out... First of all, the place was soooo NOT cute lol. Not sure why, but I expected a much nicer brewery. This place was just a typical dark, grungy-looking bar with rows of tables and hightop, some street-style artwork, pretty much of a dive really. It was fairly big, but everything seemed so thrown together and squeezed together (not the place for Claustrophobics!). Hated the layout! Also, hated the small table we were seated in. It was barely big enough to hold all the foods we ordered. We literally had to throw down the food, so that they can place the second dish in its place. Just awful! Then the service was quite weird. Our waitress didn't seem to be on her game, and we think she failed to place the order for one of our dishes (though she blamed the kitchen staff). We had to wait an unusually long amount of time for one out of three small dishes that we ordered. Her explanation just didn't make any sense to us, as we saw guests that came after us getting served their dishes. In short, we feel that she was just BS-ing. Then, more problems with the one dish that got delivered way too late. It was the Chicken and Waffles Tacos...and the Waffles were COLD! I brought this up to the waitress, and she just cooly said she'll tell the Chef...that was all. No attempts to make good on it whatsoever! Most waitresses would have at the very least offered to take it back and re-deliver a hot plate. Nope...nothing! Not even a small deduction from the final bill. Just WOW. The one big winner from our Heist experience was the Short Rib Flatbread Pizza...SO GOOD!!! In fact, it was possibly the best pizza I've had all year...including all the pizzerias I've been to! We liked the Beer Cheese with Pretzel Bread Sticks, but didn't love them. Also the Chicken and Waffles Tacos were really good too, but again...COLD. Truly, all the foods here looked really good, all well presented too. If only our Waffles weren't so damn COLD! As for the beer, my husband wasn't overwhelmed with them either. He even tried the Flight, which included 5 small cups...but nothing seemed too great. Since not a beer fan, I had the Mule (again)...Moscow and the Berry Berry Mule. Funny thing is they both looked and tasted exactly the same. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she said the Berry Berry was indeed what it claimed to be...though, again, it looked and tasted exactly like the Moscow Mule. At that point, I felt sure I was lied to TWICE. Still, I have to say, the Mules were good...and STRONG! Just 2 Mules, and I was near drunk!! (Of course I have a wimpy tolerance for alcohol) So yes, despite the uncomfy, awkward ambiance and bad, floppy service, we had a great time lol! Overall, it was most definitely a disappointing experience here at Heist. I've been to several breweries around town this past year, and I think this was the worst experience to date. To end on a good note, I will repeat that their Short Rib Flatbread Pizza was amazing...and for that alone, I may return...but possibly to the Heist Brewery at Woodward Avenue. Heist has it all. Beer, wine, cocktails, and good food. I'm not a beer drinker so I started with the Asian Pear martini (really good, just the right amount of sweet) and then switched to red wine. My date and I shared the short rib tacos and the carne asada flat bread. I recommend both! The tacos are served on a single corn tortilla which broke apart and made it hard to eat. It's customary to double up the corn tortilla on a taco but I guess Heist has its reason for the single tortilla. This place is great for beer, not so much for food though. I've been here 3 times to eat, after seeing them featured on food network diners, drive-ins, and dives. They must have a new chef because none of the food featured is on the menu anymore. They also now have a brunch buffet that's not worth it in my opinion, everything was just kind of underwhelming. The mimosa carafes were great at $10 for a large carafe, but otherwise the food fell flat. The most recent Time I went we got the sliders which were incredibly dry. The fried chicken Mac and cheese which was ok, and a Caesar salad which was completely inedible. The lettuce tasted frozen, I couldn't even eat more than a bite. It's a shame it went so far downhill after the show, because everything looked great on there. Come for a beer or two, skip ordering anything on the menu. read more

All of the beers we drank were great, good flavor profiles and use of hops. The beer menu explains which hops they use in the beers which is super helpful for those that like certain hops. Ended up eating dinner here, the burger and chicken wrap were really good! Didn't come with fries which isn't a bad thing but if you want fries - remember to order them separately. Heist Brewery is one of those places that you need to check what's going on before you go. They are ever evolving and changing their service model. Having said that...the employees have always been accommodating and pleasant and the food and drinks are crafted to order. Today's visit was on a Sunday and they have a limited menu on Sundays. Who knew? We certainly didn't. So after seating ourselves (which was new) and getting the limit Sunday menus (which was new to us) we had to order at the bar (again something new to us for them) We had a large party so we ordered a bunch of apps which were all good but would feed really only 4 people each at best but we made it work with the variety we had. The flat breads would feed more than four people with each just having one a piece. Overall the food has always been very good and the mixed drinks are great but inconsistent in what kind of glass they are served in. So some may be bigger or smaller depending on glass but same price. I suggest be open minded and go with the flow or choose another option. read more

Like I said STRONG! for food we ordered beer cheese and pretzels and pimento cheese fries. For lunch I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The others got Diablo burgers and Buffalo chicken wraps we. Hs The most disappointing part was that appetizers were served 2 minutes before the main courses. That is probably one of my biggest pet peeves when eating out. I have to say, I have no issues with any of the breweries I've been to in Charlotte so far, and this one definitely adds to the list of great places. I came here with my bf Sunday evening mainly for food since we were starving, but ya can't go to a brewery without ordering a brew... so I opted for a cider (can't remember the name). I got the 10 oz which was extremely filling, but I should have gotten the 6 oz. I wanted a Sour but their beer menu is slightly limited, and there weren't any available. For the food: We ordered a basket of fries, beer cheese pretzel, and nachos. One word = delicious. It was so so good!! Definitely recommend all 3. I saw many people walking out ginormous pizza boxes which were available a few steps away so I'll definitely have to try that someday. However, Heist is a go to & I recommend 100%! read more

I visited Heist with a group of friends recently for a bachelor/ette weekend, and we had a great time. Even with a party of six and no reservation, we encountered great service. The hostess quickly seated us while my husband parked and the rest of our party arrived. There's a parking lot onsite, although it can be crowded at times when the brewery's packed, and it's shared with a pizza place next door. With plenty of outside seating, you can bring a dog, and I saw several families with kids and a birthday party going on. Heist's food was exceptional and is served as small plates for sharing. Everything came out quickly, and I had the mango shrimp tacos, which were simple but good, and our table also shared an order of wings and the pretzels with beer cheese. I didn't have a drink, but my husband had a few of the smaller pours and everyone enjoyed their beer. Coming from Charleston, we were all excited about the brewery scene around NODA and Heist didn't disappoint. If I lived in the area, I could certainly see myself returning. read more

This is a great spot for good food and good beer! My friends and I were visiting Charlotte and wanted to check out Heist. It's a big place and it was moderately busy when we showed up. We waited over an hour for a table (they weren't utilizing all of their tables due to social distancing) but we didn't really mind. We grabbed a beer and hung out. They told us that we could hang out on the patio which ended up being a concrete slab with a table and some chairs, we were expecting more of a set up. It was chilly so we hung out at the bar while waiting. Once we got seated we ordered food, I got mac and cheese, it was good but the portion was a little small. Overall it was good, if I was a local I'd definitely check it out again but I'm not sure that I'd make it a point to return next time I'm in CLT. read more

I've visited Heist for years with their food and ambiance being my favorite features. Food is still excellent, but the experience lacks with their current system of forming a line to order food and drinks at the bar. I used to enjoy the previous configuration of their taproom, but the recent updates to their tables makes it feel like they tried to fit a much bigger brewery into a space that can't quite accommodate it. Yesterday's trip in was my third attempt to go in this year - the previous two times I walked out without ordering because of how overcrowded the taproom felt and how long the order lines were. I'm so glad I found a table yesterday and that I got to try a new menu item - not typically a sliders person, but these bacon jam ones were truly excellent! Brussel sprouts and Cajun fries were delicious yesterday too. After eating we wanted more beer and it just felt like we waited forever to get through the order line and some of the magic of the meal definitely wore off... We wanted to order one of the pitchers we saw on the bar to make our long wait feel worth it and so we could comfortably stay a while/avoid the line again, but were told those are only available on Sunday. Cost wise it definitely felt comparable to a restaurant- my boyfriend and I ordered two entrees, one app, one side, and two beers a person for $80, but without the perks of a restaurant including service. We heard some other guests sitting near us a bit displeased about bussing the tables yourself too. I would go back, but I do not see myself going to Heist like I used to for entertaining visiting family or groups of friends. read more

Heist has definitely gone downhill since it debuted in NoDa many years ago. It used to be a neighborhood staple but not so much anymore. The bad: Dear God, can someone clean the bathrooms? If it looked this bad on a Monday night and they were not busy, how does it look on a Friday or busy night? The food: Mediocre at best. I had the house salad and a flatbread pizza and was disappointed in both. The salad was just boring and the flatbread the same. I imagine they serve better food in prison. Not worth the price of admission and there are far better places to eat in the neighborhood. The Good: The bartender was a sweetheart, didn't catch her name. She was fast, efficient and really nice. The beer: The two beers I had on tap were pretty good. Not bad to wash down the misery and shame from the poor quality of food. **Live music happens here occasionally and apparently they are bringing back all you can eat brunch buffets. I've been here a dozen times and the food is lower than sub par. Fried mozzarella was just that. Outside cooked inside just cold mozzarella sauce just jarred sauce with no flavor. Cool spot that I need to visit more often! While they do brew their own beer I have always thought of this place as more of a restaurant than a brewery. The place is large inside with plenty of seating but it still gets busy so you may still have to wait a bit. It is definitely worth it for brunch! I have tried the waffle fried chicken sandwich and it was incredible but most recently I opted to go with the classic breakfast. Scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage, bacon, and a couple of biscuits. Fantastic! The eggs and fries were perfectly salted, and the bacon was just how I like it, not overly crisped. The biscuits were a little too dry and not especially fluffy but the rest of the meal was overall great. I need to come for dinner some time so I can explore their menu a bit more. read more

Our daughter introduced us to the Heist Brewery brunch and we've been back several times. It never disappoints. I normally don't like buffets but the food here is always fresh and varied. When to heist for my bday. I always have a great time at heist because there's liquor for people that don't want to drink beer and the atmosphere is always good. Split the breakfast burger and the beer cheese. I'm not a huge fan of runny egg on my burgers but I thought this was a decent burger for what it was. One of my all time fav apps is this beer cheese. I love how gooey it is, and the pretzels are not ordinary ones, they're not as salty as regular pretzels. For to drink I had a high fives, they're best IPA in their menu. I have always loved Heist! I've gone here quite a few times and the service is consistently good and food is fantastic. The thing I will always make my friends try from out of town is their chicken and waffle tacos. They are so incredibly good. A subtle hint of flavor with some Siracha but not overly spicey at all. In the past I have also had their Poke Bowl which was good. Their menu has everything from burgers, to pimento cheese fries to tacos. Definently not your typical "brewery" food. Also for beer drinkers, lots of local beers on tap!!! Recommend this place if you are looking for a local brewery with great food and staff. **covid protocol** this is probably the best restaurant I've been to in Charlotte in terms of taking precautions and social distancing. They only let one party in the door at a time so a bunch of people aren't waiting by the hostess stand. They also take your temperature. Don't let the line outside fool you, it moves quick. Add this to the list of places whose menu descriptions sound way better than what actually shows up. They're in the club with Cowfish and Bebo's. Every single small plate sounds like it's going to be the best thing you've ever eaten. On our most recent visit, we ordered Steak'N'Taters (marinated flank steak! truffled parmesan! potato cracklins! red wine demi glaze!), Chicken Waffle Tacos (sriracha chicken! hot sauce butter! maple syrup!), and Sweet and Spicy Flatbreads (roasted peaches! pickled jalapeños! pineapple glaze!) Sounds amazing, right? What actually showed up were three small plates of under seasoned, un-inspired food. All edible but all disappointing. I've never been a fan of Heist's beer, either. When they first opened years and years ago, the beer was just plain awful. Ted tells me they make really good IPAs now, but I don't drink IPAs, soooooo... Again, on our most recent visit, they had about 6 IPAs, a pale ale and a barley wine on draft. I went with the guest tap cider. This was my first visit to Heist Brewery, I came on a Saturday afternoon with a friend. We grabbed a seat at the bar, It wasn't crowded. Parking was a pain. I would recommend parking further down the street and walking. We sampled a few beers before ordering. I tried the Blackberry Pick'n and the Good Road Blue ByWay. Both were great options! I liked the tart flavor of the Blackberry Pick'n and the blueberry cider flavor of the Good Road Blue ByWay. Heist Brewing also offers food. Went here for the first time today... I tried the Barrel Rum BFF imperial stout as a 8oz and it was quite a taste! Super strong and a good deal for the price. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with a side of Parmesan Truffle fries. The fries were so nice to munch on and the sandwich was fried with a delicious crunchy breading and the pico and avocado on it were so yummy. My boyfriend got the poke bowl which was so refreshing without any sauces it was so healthy. The atmosphere was so nice they have outdoor seating as well as multiple options for indoor seating. I was there to meet an old friend, and we noshed on some nachos, which were nothing special, but it didn't make is regret having nachos. The craft brewed beer, made onsite, was fine. I don't remember the name of the recipe that I tried, but it was advertised as having a sweetness to it (which I prefer,) and it delivered. Truly, this place is all about the atmosphere.
