This place is great. They actually weren't able to help me with my problem because of time limitations (getting vomit out of a suit in less than a day) but it was very help that they were able to tell me this at the beginning. I bought a lovely Donna Karan # at Buffalo Exchange and, naturally, it had a couple of stains, but was absolutely worth the $18. The dress is spectacular and I wanted it so badly to be salvageable. Not knowing where to find a good dry cleaner I browsed trusty Yelp and found Helena's. It did not disappoint. The dress looks brand new (did I mention it's white?!) Helena's is great! As a first time business professional, I had never previously had to worry about getting my clothes dry cleaned. But now that I do have a job that requires me to wear clothes that must be dry cleaned, I wouldn't choose any other place but Helena's. My clothes always come back in great shape and if there is a rip or tear or missing stitching that I hadn't noticed, they always give me a call to ask if I would like it repaired. One great customer service experience I have had from them was when I had received an email that my dry cleaning had been delivered but when I went to the concierge in my building they checked about a dozen times and stated my dry cleaning was not at the building. After calling Helena's, their records showed that it was in fact delivered to my building and was scanned in, but that he and his manager would go check again to make sure. So I went down and we searched every possible place it could be but could still not be found. I called Helena's and let them know it wasn't there. At first I was a little frustrated because it was at least 20 articles of clothing that had gone missing, but someone from Helena's was constantly following up with my and assuring me that they will be checking all the other building they deliver to to make sure that they could find me my clothing. 2 days later and many follow ups later as well, my clothing had been found and they were extremely apologetic. S#!t happens and mistakes are always made but I feel that Helena's did an amazing job of fixing the mistake and following up to ensure that I was happy! read more

Hands down, the best!!!! I am so impressed with Helena's and will continue to use them as long as I live in Seattle! I thought I had sent a dress in to be cleaned last year and totally forgot about it. I was thinking about that I hadn't seen it and figured it had gotten lost at the cleaners. So I emailed them a brief email with a description of the dress. I assumed that either a) I would get no response or b) they would be like, "oh you don't have a receipt? We can't help you." Wrong. Literally an hour later I had a detailed and kind email from the operations manager, Will, who went ahead and sent me an Invoice that appeared to be my dress and a confirmation that the dress had indeed been delivered to me. Long story short - I found the dress in my apartment (I'm an idiot) and this place rocks. End of story. Kudos for awesome customer service. read more

They charged $7 for a pair of pants, which, I thought was high, but apparently is pretty low in Seattle, so I really can't complain about this place. The service is always prompt (even when I go in at 5:15 like everyone else just getting off work) and the prices are reasonable. I've visited Helena's three times, and I'm very happy with their service. They make it super easy for someone with a busy schedule -- at home pick-up/drop-off, email alerts when your order is received. Also, as someone who likes nice dress clothes, it's reassuring to see how well they document your clothing (e.g. navy brooks brothers slacks). This suggests they'd have an easier time locating lost items or accurately reimbursing. I highly recommend Helenas to anyone living in upper or lower queen anne. read more

Took my brand new (expensive) linen table cloth that had 2 small wine stains from dinner party in and when we got it back there were big discoloration all over the table cloth. Called them and they said they would rewash and take care of it. We got a call from them and they claimed it's Sun Spots??? I explained how can it be sunspots when I purchased this brand new and used it once!! So instead of working with me, he proceed to say it wasn't his fault and he can send it to a lab and have it tested, are you kidding me!! Wouldn't he have noticed it when we took it in? These guys are full of sh*t and won't take any responsibility when they mess up! I would NEVER NEVER take anything to them again!! read more

I just got my beloved silk wedding gown back from Helena's and it looked beautiful and they did a great job, they even managed to get the red mystery stain out of the skirt. The price was way better than the quotes that other cleaners gave me, after a few calls around town I was convinced that the dry cleaning chemicals had gone to their heads. Helena's was totally fair and did a great job. Their employees are super nice too and bless em' told me what a beautiful dress I had which really is the only thing a new bride wants to hear. They even packed it with acid free tissue paper for me so it was ready for me to box (in an archival box I purchased on line). So I am totally satisfied with their service and even though it was out of the way (I live 11 miles away) it was worth the trip and I would trust them with my precious keepsakes in the future. The first time I sent some shirts to them for dry cleaning, they came back with some of the stains still on them. I sent the shirts back, and they cleaned them again without charging me and they came back much better. The second time I sent clothes in, I had the same issue - they came back still missed spots. I wasn't giving them a second chance, so I went with another dry cleaner that also picked up at my building down town. I used the other cleaner for at least a year before they stopped picking up at my building, and so I had to go back to Helena's. The first thing I sent to them after a long hiatus was my brand new Boss suit. I had worn it once at a wedding, and sent it to Helena's to be dry cleaned. I got it back, and it sat in my closet for a couple of months (the dry cleaning bag was never unzipped) before I finally took it out to use it for another event. When I took it out, I discovered one of the buttons was missing. They did not give me any indication when they returned it that the button was missing, and I hadn't touched the suit since it was returned to me. I emailed them and asked them to fix it, and they agreed to do so. They fixed it in one day because I had a event the following night. They replaced my remaining buttons and the missing button with the cheapest plastic buttons I could imagine (this is an $900 suit), one of which had a white scratch on the surface (black buttons). I emailed back a little unhappy, and they (Will) basically told me they did me a favor by replacing the buttons on such short notice, and couldn't get new buttons fast enough even if they wanted. This is fine and understandable, but they never communicated this to me when I asked for the repair, or before they returned it to me. If they had told me they couldn't replace with similar buttons in the time frame I had asked, I would have been ok with just waiting and wearing something else for my event. Will, who I was communicating with, clearly didn't care that they did a shit job and was happy to leave it at that and be done with me. He seems like kind of a dick who doesn't really care whether his customers are happy, which is weird considering how much business he does in our building. And I'm not the crazy customer that sends raging emails when I get poor service - I'm unhappy but reasonable, and he kind of just brushed it off. tldr; They do not do a great job cleaning spots on clothes (no attention to detail), and if they screw something up, they won't charge you but they'll do a half-assed job fixing their mistake. This is a big business that doesn't care about their customers. Send your clothes elsewhere. read more

I was dry cleaning my delicate bridesmaid's dress. The dress came out looking very bright and clean I was very pleased. And I like the fact that the receptionist ask me if I was the first customer and gave me a discount without me even asking. Gave this spot a shot since it was nearby my place, yeah...I will NOT be returning to this location. I've paid extra for dry cleaning, and upon pickup it looks like it was never ironed. They apologize and said they'll give me a free redo, and upon return the result was no different, then the black male employee blames it on my clothes' materials and claims nobody else ever had this issue...I will be disputing my charges and would NOT recommend this place to anybody. read more

Rude, ruthless and incompetent! I brought in 8 dress shirts, a pair of slacks and a sweater to have cleaned. I was pleased to see that their prices were fairly reasonable and the person i spoke with seemed very reliable. I returned a few days later to pick up my shirts and realized there were only 6 (i started with 8). I mentioned it to the person working the desk, however, i had lost my original ticket that noted the amount of shirts i dropped off (this made me nervous since i had no proof). The person working the front desk was unable to speak English (lady in her 50s). She then brought out a younger guy to communicate and he stated that i only brought in 6 shirts. After i called BS on the guy i was speaking with the lady in her 50s started speaking English and screaming at me (she must've had Rosetta stone in the back room) that i only brought 6 shirts in. I started swearing because i was obviously upset and her response was that she would give me free dry cleaning on the next visit. I told her i didn't want her to touch my clothes ever again and left without my two missing shirts, my slacks and sweater...short story long... I get home put everything in the closet as i normally do and: 1. two days later i was getting ready for my dads 60th surprise birthday party at the Sheraton. I decided to wear one of my freshly dry cleaned shirts. So i took out my shirt and put it on, threw my sport coat on and walked to the hotel (3blocks from my house). I walk in and meet with the event coordinator before people started showing up, we met in her office and it was hot so i took off my coat. As i turned around to hang my jacket in her office i hear a HUGE SIGH. The coordinator says "OMG what happened to your shirt?" I said "what do you mean?". She went on to point out the huge rip from seam-to-seam in the center of my back (I'm not over weight and i walked 3 - blocks so i know immediately what this is from). No kidding folks from from the top to the bottom of my shirt! The shirt was a total loss (BTW it was hugo-boss that i got on sale for $120) I was glad i showed up early since it gave me time to run home and grab another shirt. While at home i did a once-over on all the shirts to make sure there were no more rips and i couldn't find ANY! woo hoo! 2- Cousins engagement party the next night: Throw on another dress shirt from Helenas, start getting ready in the mirror, my girlfriend says "oh wow, there is a huge mark on the back of your shirt"...i take the shirt off and we both examine it. The mark was a ENORMOUS burn mark from an iron...need i say more? This is a rip off. They made me pay $21 for 1 pants, 3 t-shirts and some socks for wash dry and fold. 5 times the price I pay in New York. They took three days to do it which is completely ridiculous. It would have been much cheaper having it done in my hotel. read more

Helena's Cleaners is a gem of service - on top of the reliable dry cleaning and the convenient pick-up/drop-off setup, the customer service they provide is impeccable. I judge a brand by the way they respond to a poor customer experience. Recently, I moved from an apartment where Helena's picked up on a regular schedule to a new house where I had to begin using Helena's pick-up/drop-off service. For my first scheduled pickup, my information in their system did not update quickly enough which resulted in Helena's not coming at all to grab my clothing (and to be fair, I immediately scheduled the pick-up upon updating my address information online) -- I left the dry cleaning bag on my doorstep in the morning, and upon returning home in the evening, the bag was still there, and my clothes inside were soaked from heavy all day rainfall (though very fortunately not damaged). After emailing Helena's Cleaners about the incident, they responded promptly and ensured my information was updated. When I gave the scheduled pick-up feature another try, they picked up successfully and not only did they deliver the entire dry cleaning load within 2 days but also left a hanger on my door to leave the clothing (and only after first texting me if I would prefer for them to come back when I was home) and didn't charge me for a single piece. Talk about making things right by the customer. These guys are the real deal. read more

Took a couple suits there to get altered...They couldn't do a 2 day turn around so I took 1 suit to a place near my work and left the other with them. The place by my work took only 1 day to do everything and it was spot on. I would have used them for both suits but it's far from home. Anyway my suit at Helenas took over 2 weeks. I even emailed them after about 10 days. And they sent no response. I sent them a second one 3 days later and nothing. 2 day after that email they called me saying my suit was done. FINALLY...sadly when I got home I noticed that the buttons on my sleeves were all gone...this was a brand new suit from Banana Republic...not a fan of this place...I give them 2 stars because they were nice...that's about it. read more

Many reviewers have noted that Helena's does good dry cleaning. What should also be noted is that they offer a great alteration service. The owner, Helena, used to do alterations herself, but with age, she has hired seamstresses to help. She does, however, look over each piece prior to and after the work. I'm quite petite, so I need every pair of pants hemmed and every coat sleeve taken up -- so I know their services well! Besides that kind of run-of-the-mill alterations, I've also had the bodice of an expensive ballgown adjusted. That's more complicated than hemming, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality there too. Other places, notably professional alteration shops, would do the same but Helena's does it for a fraction of the price. I almost wish I weren't telling the secret -- hopefully their prices won't go up, haha! read more

What could have been a very bad experience saved by the staff at Helena's! A few weeks ago, I dropped off my then-fiancé's tuxedo in the leasing office of our building to be picked up. When it wasn't returned on time, I checked in with the folks at Helena's and they said they had no record of even receiving it. I let them know it was important it be found ASAP as he needed the tuxedo for our wedding about a week and a half later. Right off the bat they gave me a few places in our building to check and said they'd also send someone out to our building to check a few more places it may have ended up. They also called our leasing office, worked with them to review security tapes, and kept me in the loop with each step. 4 days before the wedding, they called to tell me the tuxedo had been located, cleaned, and that they wanted to overnight it to us (we were married out of town) so that it would get there in time! In the end, my husband looked great in his (well-cleaned, I might add!) tux- Thank you to the folks at Helena's! read more

The comments here guided me down the same path; I tried them on "one tough garment" and now I love the service and have been very happy with how everything comes back from there. The tough shirt stain came back almost gone...the slightest memory of it still lingers and to the untrained eye would probably not be noticed, but they apologized for not being able to get it out; most places would have declared victory, but clearly the attention to detail and apparent "prefectionist" work ethic at Helena's is something special. The most positive attitude I've come across in a long time from the staff. I have been going to Helena's for a number of months now, out of convenience, but will not be returning. I had two items damaged from the last order I received. First item: dress with shell buttons. When I dropped the dress off, I specifically asked that the shell buttons be covered because I have had other buttons crack during the dry cleaning process (at other dry cleaners). I stated that I could take the dress elsewhere if they were not able to cover the buttons but the woman assured me that they would take care of it. I received the dress and several of the buttons are chipped. My request was very specific and they clearly chose not to honor it. I was told this happens over time and that they take no responsibility for this. How is it all the buttons cracked, all at once from wear and tear? Second item: cashmere Theory sweater. I received this sweater back and it was about one size smaller. In fact, I have the same sweater that is brand spakin' new, never cleaned, and I compared them and it was clearly one size smaller. I spoke with the owner or manager who proceeded to lecture me for quite some time on the logistics of dry cleaning. He said the item shrinking was simply the manufacturers fault. He then took the sweater back to some stretching block and, in fact, succeeded in stretching the sweater into a floppy oblivion! I guess this was supposed to solve the problem. We went back and forth a bit and I could see that he would not take responsibility (everything was the garments fault, literally he said this to be). I asked for a refund for the cleaning of the two items and he obliged. If you have nice things that require extra care, Helena's cannot be trusted to take care of them. I read about Helena's dry cleaning by the pound last year and tried it out. I was very satisfied and the clothes turned out great. I went back this year with a big load of dry cleaning to do by the pound. Yikes!! My clothes are ruined and hardly even look like they were cleaned. I brought them in on Aug 28th. Since the Labor Day weekend was coming up, Helena's asked if I could pick them up after the weekend. I said that was fine and I received an email that the clothes would be ready by 5 pm on Sept 4th, (that was 8 days to get 25 lbs of clothes cleaned - 15 pieces - $83 total). That's about $5.50 per piece of clothing. That was a little later than I wanted the clothes but the 4th worked out for me. The clothes weren't ready for pick up 8 days later, and 9 days later (Sept 5th) Helena's said they might get them done by 5 pm. I was leaving town and needed them yesterday and they said they could possibly get them done by 3:45 pm, - which is the time I showed up - and my clothes still weren't done!! After a 20 minute wait, I finally received my clothes. When you get clothes done by the pound, they do not come back to you on a hangar (as expected - they make this clear). They come folded in a nice plastic bag. However, unlike last year, this year's pile of clothes was a mess with creases and wrinkles all over the clothes - not just at the folds. You expect a crease on the folded part of the clothing but not the other parts of the clothing. It looked like they didn't even clean them - it looked like they just laundered them and shoved them into the plastic bag - with tons of wrinkles. So - beware - the quality control at Helena's is lacking as of today - Sept 5th, 2013. There must be a different manager supervising the place from last year because the product difference is night and day from the I service I received last year. I just wasted $83 of my money for clothes that I am going to have to have re-cleaned. For $5.50 per piece of dry cleaning, one would expect A LOT BETTER service. Especially after they had my clothes for 9 DAYS!! This was a disaster. read more
