Superbly spectacular light fixtures and ceiling height was high. I loved it. The food was deliciously scrumptious. I will definitely return to Hello Betty.

Fun place to get drinks. The truffle fries were the highlight. Scallop crudo didn't really feel like a crudo but still good. Will definitely be back.

Now the aesthetics and the ambiance of this place is amazing . For an happy hour spot this place would be amazing because they randomly have a boat as a bar on the rooftop. Now unfortunately the service of this place is severely lacking. There was no reason that it took so long for us to get our second carafe of water and they forgot about it initially. The restaurant was far from packed and the waitress did apologize for the long wait times because of the short staffing but it was at the end after the damage was done. The pancakes were not great and they fell apart as you cut into them. For the price point of this place I recommend many more well placed places with lower to similar prices and way better food and service. Unfortunately this is a one and done for me. But I still enjoyed trying this place because it was new to me. If you're going for drinks this place could work. But for food there are better options.

    Jazz for bunch

Well the space is pretty and the jazz is stellar. However, even through there were empty tables it took a few minutes to be seat me. I sat for 20 minutes enjoying the music, before any took my order. Then my food came when I finally got a second check in like 10 minutes later, but no coffee showed up. I ordered a vanilla latte, but was given a regular latte. They comped my latte. I got the farmers hash which was delicious and very filling. At the end I asked for my bill was given a bill just for the latte, but then my card was charged just for the hash. I paid and left. The staff seemed nice but definitely didn't have their act together it was definitely a bit chaotic.

    Sweet Potato Biscuits

I went to Hello Betty for brunch on a Sunday. It wasn't too packed, but they definitely could have benefited from another waiter because service was a little slow and therefore the mimosas didn't seem truly bottomless. I ordered the sweet potato biscuits, which were delicious but definitely needed the apple butter. The crawfish mac and cheese was also pretty good, but I realized that I am simply not a crawfish person. However as for restaurant mac and cheese goes I won't complain. I wish they gave me a little more, but they didn't skimp on the crawfish. I also tasted my friend's praline pancakes, which were perfectly fluffy and melt in your mouth. However, the kitchen forgot her whipped butter and tried to tell her that it didn't come with any. However, we knew what we saw in the photo. Eventually they brought it out and apologized for the mistake.

    Tea

A friend and I have been to several teas in the area and we decided to give this one a try. It was.....very meh. The cost is listed as $65 but note that there is for some reasons a 4% charge on top of it. These restaurant charges became common during COVID and I guess restaurants decided to leave them there and think we won't notice. I did. They also automatically add 20% gratuity. I'd have paid that that anyway but honestly the server did very little so the presumption to include it was a little unexpected, and probably based on the fact that the server doesn't really much and they need to ensure people tip. The menu is pre-set and she just handed us a plate. In any case, the food tasted good enough but the service was slow, the tea was never refreshed as it typically is at tea houses, and the bread in literally every item was incredibly dry. It was weird it took so long for the food to arrive, considering it was likely made ahead and just placed on the tiered server. The best part was the cake on the top tier. The tea itself was very good. They refused to seat my friend until I came and kicked us out after 90 minutes. It's in Pike & Rose, inside the Canopy Hotel across from LL Bean, separate from the Hello Betty boat bar entrance in the Main Street of the shopping area. Parking is typical planned community lot parking. The atmosphere is nice, as the tea is in a separate area filled with fake flowers and cute tables in a bright space with a lot of natural light. Overall, I wasn't mad at it but I'd likely not return.

Went here for a quick lunch after a pedicure and was super impressed! The ambiance is very cool and u pique and the music sets a great vibe. At lunch it was pretty empty so I hope they get fuller. The waitress I had was so warm and kind and made everything feel personal. They had also just dropped a new menu and the items I had were sooo delicious! Shout out to the chef! I got the sweet potato biscuits and the crab cake sandwich. The biscuits were smaller than I anticipated but packed a lot of flavor! And we're filling. The crab cake was full of juicy lump crab and the fries were some of the best I w had in ages. The seasoning!!! Anyway, I wish I lived here because I'd definitely be back often though my wallet would suffer.

The wait staff was extremely attentive. Food was incredible. The kids menu was limited but my daughter enjoyed it!

Very friendly service and a shout out to my server Miquel. Food was decent. I ordered the halibut. Entree seemed kind of high but the restaurant is located in a hotel.

    Betty's Betty's Breakfast
    Merri D.

Came here for brunch with a friend as it had been on her list for a while. This restaurant is located inside the canopy hotel, so in terms of parking, it's best to park at the lot by the Pinstripes, especially if you have guests that have mobility issues otherwise there are several flights of steps to enter through a doorway next to Uniqlo. We made reservations but it wasn't necessary, there were only a handful of other parties there, it may be because it was close to the holidays and folks might have been traveling elsewhere. We were looking forward to trying the "crab deviled eggs" only to discover there was no actual crab in this dish; instead the whites are heavily coated in Old Bay and the filling was basic deviled egg. It was a bit acidic going down and my Forbes didn't care for them at all. We went to order lattes but they only had whole milk at the time. I got the pancakes, which were fine, and my friend got the Betty's Breakfast. If you are nearby it's a fine spot for breakfast but I don't think it's worth going out of your way. The outdoor space looked nice so I imagine this would be a nice spot in the summer for a casual meetup with friends.

What I love about California Fish Grill is that the food isn't overwhelmingly expensive, and with it being a casual spot, the wait wasn't long either. They also serve chicken, for the folks who are not in the seafood mood. I've been here a couple times and got the chance to try a few menu selections. On this visit, I ordered tacos: one cajun shrimp and one cajun fish. It came with two sides: rosemary zucchini and beans. I really loved my meal. Other menu items I've tried include the lobster roll, the branzino with Brussels sprouts and Mexican corn, and the Mediterranean shrimp bowl. I loved everything, but I'll probably vote for the lobster roll and Mexican corn as my favorites!

Finally got to try Chef Tony's on a super hot Friday evening. We actually had trouble deciding…read morewhat to try because there were so many dishes that sounded amazing, but there is only so much that we can eat at once. After negotiations, we ended up with the following: Goat cheese stuffed fig appetizer White lasagna w/ shrimp and crab (one of the specials) w/ roasted veggies. Italian style paella For drinks, my husband got the blueberry margarita and I followed instructions to "ask about our creative mocktails", and ended up with a superlative strawberry no-jito. (It was REALLY good. I want another one. Now. Hub's drink was also tasty but I liked mine better.) Of all the dishes, my favorite was the Italian style paella. Tons of perfectly cooked seafood in a delicious broth with angel hair. Liht and delicious. The white lasagna was also delish but the dominant flavor was the mozzarella; the seafood didn't come through as much with this one. But I absolutely loved the roasted vegetables it came with. Sometimes the simple dishes are the best. The figs were quite tasty, it's hard to go wrong with goat cheese. I think I get dates and figs confused because they weren't quite what I expected but I enjoyed them. The service was friendly and pretty fast. There are still a bunch of dishes there I want to try so I will try to get back on another date night before too long and order something different. Small negatives - it was a tad warm in the restaurant but given that it was HOT A.F. outside, I will cut them slack on that. Also, I wouldn't have minded a small amount of bread with the meal, maybe you have to order it and I just didn't notice? I'm used to a little bit of bread with Italian food so it didn't occur to me to do so but I would have loved to sop up some of the delicious broth from the paella with it.

While the service was friendly, the timing of the food was slower than expected. Our CT's Famous Grilled Caesar Salad arrived about 20 minutes after ordering, and our Crispy Thin White Pizza didn't arrive until about 45 minutes after we placed our order. I was also disappointed to learn that the Tri Color Cheese Tortellini had been removed from the menu, as it had always been one of my favorite dishes here. The CT's Famous Grilled Caesar Salad is still a solid starter. We also enjoyed the Crispy Thin White Pizza, and I liked that it was presented flat rather than stacked, unlike the version at Amalfi Ristorante. That presentation allowed the toppings and crust to shine, while still offering its own distinct flavor. I'd also love to see the Tortoni dessert make a return, even if it's only offered as an occasional special. It was a memorable way to end a meal and would be a nice nostalgic addition to the menu. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but between the longer wait despite mentioning our schedule and the removal of a couple of favorite menu items, this visit didn't quite match the experiences I've had here in the past.

Wild Thai Banana ($6.50) - This was not bad. It tasted like an ideal banana bread. I am not sure what made it Thai as I was unable to figure that out. Coconut Chocolate Chunk ($5.50) - The coconut was not too overpowering, and I liked that combination with the chocolate. This was noticeably heavy too. It feels like a little slice of California in Bethesda, making it a great spot for a casual lunch, brunch, or dinner with friends. We started with the Potato Salad Deviled Eggs and Jalapeño Cornbread. Both were excellent, with the cornbread being a standout. Warm, flavorful, and served with a generous dollop of butter. For my entrée, I ordered the Herbed Chicken Breast Paillard, which was light, fresh, and well-seasoned. The arugula and lemon complemented the dish nicely without overpowering it. Of course, we couldn't leave without trying the cookies for dessert. They definitely lived up to the hype and were the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The only area that fell short was the service. Our server was incredibly friendly, personable, and pleasant throughout the meal, but service felt inconsistent. There were several stretches where we didn't see our server for an extended period, which resulted in longer waits for our entrées and even getting a dessert menu. One example that stood out was when I asked for a to-go sleeve for one of my cookies. Unfortunately, it never arrived, and after waiting for a while, I ended up walking over to the bakery counter myself to request one. It was a little awkward because I was questioned about whether the cookie was actually mine before I could get the sleeve. While I understand the need to verify purchases, the situation likely could have been avoided had the original request been fulfilled. None of these issues were major enough to ruin the experience, but they did take away from what otherwise would have been a seamless visit. Overall, I'd still recommend Summer House Santa Monica for the atmosphere, quality food, and dessert selection. With a little more attentiveness on the service side, this could easily be a five-star experience.
