I made reservations about 4 months in advance. Upon arrival, one of the hostesses opened the door for us, and asked us to wait in a very ornate waiting area. We only waited a couple of minutes before another hostess seated us at the main seating area. The space is very dark, and only lit with candles while the rest of the diners trickled in. During that time they take drink orders, which is limited to sake, wine, beer and a few non-alcoholic drinks. Of note, they don't provide a drink menu, so we were a little surprised by the cost - the yuzu sake and the plum wine were $30 each. My non-alcoholic drink was $12, but a fair size. The theatrical portion started a few minutes later than the official start time - closer to 6pm. The shades lifted, the lights turned on, and the chefs introduced themselves. And from that moment on, they immediately went to work preparing our meal. They operate like clockwork to show the ingredients whole to the diners, and then preparing them, and serving them. Soon as the one dish was completed by all the diners, the next round came shortly after. Over 20+ dishes, there was very little wait time in between each. Each time a dish was served, a hostess was there to describe the dish and provided tips on how best to eat it. The food was overall was very good. I thought a few items were very average, most of them were very good, and a select few were truly outstanding. Most of the ingredients are imported from Japan, so I would imagine that it's part of the reason it's so expensive. This is definitely a splurge meal. Hello Nori in downtown Vancouver is a fantastic Japanese restaurant that specializes in hand rolls. If you're looking for something similar to KazuNori in LA, this is definitely the place to go. The nori was crispy, the rice was the perfect temperature, and the fish was incredibly fresh. I went to this place and it's a joke.. My girlfriend and I wanted to share some rolls and they wouldn't cut the sushi rolls. I have never heard of a restaurant wouldn't cut food and I asked to have a knife and they wouldn't do that as well..This has to be the worse business practice I have ever seen. Who wouldn't cut food for their customers or provide a knife to do so????????????? I explained to the manager and he agrees with me but the chef will not let him do his job and have customer satisfaction. What a idiot of a chef. FIRE HIM BECAUSE HE WILL RUNE THE RESTAUNT.... And this guy calls his self a chef..... A real sushi would be so disappointed with this guy. So sad.. This is a big fat Zero for a rating. read more

Her favourites were Ora King Salmon, Hokkaido Scallop and Truffle Lobster. Mine were the last two plus the Unagi And White Peach Juice . Sat at the sushi bar and had interaction with chef throughout our dinner. This place is definitely going down as one of our favorites while traveling. The Foie Gras was seriously top of our picks for the night.....a must. We actually ordered it twice. Lol-

I've some TO friends who are briefly in town and they had a hankering for sushi. The concierge at their downtown hotel recommended this place so we all met here. Thankfully, they had made a reservation, as the restaurant was quite busy when I arrived (6:30pm on a Thursday night. Go figure!). I was impressed by the layout of the restaurant interior, with recessed table/booths or smaller rooms with only 1-2 tables, all sectioned off by bamboo room dividers or curtains. It felt very private, despite the busyness, liveliness and vibrancy of the place. We ordered to share assorted tempura, agadashi tofu, the "Vancouver sashimi" platter, a few individual miso soups. Everything was super fresh and delicious. For dessert my friends ordered a fried ice cream dish with chocolate sauce drizzled on top and they loved it. We all felt that the portions and sizes of the dishes were on a par with most other restaurants. I have to give a shout-out to all our servers. Despite how busy the restaurant was, we had the most attentive servers, and they were all so friendly and nice, too. I think this restaurant has changed its menu since some of the last Yelp reviews were posted, as I saw some discrepancies in dishes reviewed. For example, the meat skewers dish offers three (3) skewers for $11. (I see a review mentioning only two skewers), and other discrepancies. So if you are considering visiting this place, I recommend you checking out their menu on their website, as some of the reviews here have outdated information. I really liked this place, as did my friends. The ambiance is lovely, the food is fresh and delicious, the prices are average (I bet they have some excellent lunch specials), and the food comes out quite quickly.

Very crunchy shrimp and delicious eel. The aburi hamachi oshi roll was also good although a bit more fish on top would have been even better. The nigiri's were also excellent, very fresh, I recommend the hamachi, salmon and bluefin chutoro. Very kind staff as well.

Our server was super nice and helped us order a variety of things she thought would be a good meal. The sushi chef also asked us about our preference and tailored the nigiri to what we wanted. The Chirashi Royale was amazing! The portion size was actually quite big and with all the fatty meats and fish, it was pretty filling. The portions of wagyu, foie gras, and tuna were generous and I had some in every bite. We added uni and caviar which added extra pops of seafood flavor and depth. We also got a bluefin roll and nigiri set and both were delicious. The bluefin roll had different cuts of tuna which all contributed different textures and flavors. The shiso added a nice freshness and the roll itself was quite big. The nigiri combo was amazing. We got pieces of seared fish and fatty cuts which I loved. I also liked that the chef specifically made pieces that we hadn't tried and were different from everything else we ordered.
