Went in for brunch, it's a little pricey for brunch but I get it because they have a raw bar - crab legs, oysters, shrimp, fish ceviche and mussels. The best waffle I've ever had, fried chicken cooked to perfection, breakfast potatoes well seasoned. Unfortunately I couldn't eat everything due to the expansive variety of food they offer but what I did have it was good. Bottomless mimosas, always a favorite! Our waitress LaLa was a little not so cool in the beginning but afterwards we all warmed up and was absolutely awesome. Maybe something happened before we got there and we got the residual, or what happened when we arrived may have had us in a not so cool mood, either way, she was awesome. I came here for brunch on Sunday. The food was good. I enjoyed almost everything that I got. The restaurant is cute inside and the vibe was cool. The price was a bit high for me especially since I didn't eat a lot of the seafood. My server was ok. She was really nice but could've came around to check on us more frequently. The rest of the staff were very friendly and attentive if something was needed. The main issue I had was with valet. They were unprofessional and disorganized. I pulled up to the valet attendant cussing someone from the neighborhood out. I wait 3-5 minutes to valet while they went back and forth with each other. When I finished brunch and tried to retrieve my car, that's when the real issue started. There were 4 people "working" but only two actually getting cars. One guy just stopped working all together and stood in the condo building next door and I not sure what happened to the other guy. They had a hard time locating patrons keys and they took too long to bring cars around. One valet guy was going to park another car for someone who pulled up, and another patron that had been waiting as long as me got in the car with the valet to retrieve his own car. How are you using someone else's car as shuttle to the valet lot?? The professionalism with valet was lacking. After standing for around 30 minutes I had to find my own key, and walk with the valet guy to get my car. It was ridiculous and ruined the experience for me. Overall, I likely will not return. The cost of brunch is too high since I didn't eat a lot of the seafood, and also have to deal with the hassle of valet. read more

Two stars only for ambience. My friend and I got the $35 bubbles and birds deal. When I tell you the chicken lacked serious flavor. It was so bad that my friend and I could only eat it when we sprinkled salt on every bite. Mac and cheese was watery and lacked flavor as well. Lala was our server this past Sunday 10/6. We had the private room w/ the Tv in it. From a fellow restauranteur, Lala hands down is one of the best I have experienced including myself. I have been to a lot of places in dc and managed a lot of places in the city and I rarely see ones like her, she really made the entire day and bday. She is knowledgeable, fun, personable but not to much and super accommodating. I will comeback JUST for her. All my friends know if they go there to ask for her specifically. We were excited because the establishment itself is overall pretty, hype music, we were jamming until the food came. "Here's your chicken" um is cooked chicken supposed to be pink and squishy?" I utter to my friends "'no." Um ok so it's RAWWWWWWWW. Not ok at all unacceptable. Do you want to give children diseases. You have one job, cook the chicken and they failed. We had a fairly decent experience when visiting Hen Quarter Prime for brunch. To begin, the restaurant itself is nice! It's new and has modern style decor which I found to be comfortable. The restaurant is located on the water on a quiet back street which seems like it would be very nice for outdoor dining during the warmer months. We visited on a Saturday with a reservation and had been seated immediately. Some time had passed before a waitress came over but she was very friendly. During brunch they offer a bottomless buffet for $70 per person and you can add on bottomless drinks (mimosas, old fashioneds, wine, and beer) for $29. I found the drinks to be tasty and they are generous with the sparkling wine! As for the food, I wish all of the items weren't served buffet style because of the back and forth and the temperature of the food. For example, the oysters were on ice but they tasted room temperature. You have the option to order omelet's but everything else on the menu is at the buffet. Most items that I tried were good like the deviled eggs, macaroni & cheese, crab legs, and shrimp. The prime rib and fried chicken are decent. I was told that the waffles are good too. The biscuits are dry but the whipped honey butter is delicious! Unfortunately, I wasn't really impressed by this restaurant. However, if you're celebrating a birthday or have a large party where a flat price is easier, this may be a decent option. read more

Food was good, crab legs are really small and although they do offer a cracker, they don't have picks for the crab. Shrimp was tasty, desert was good, chicken was excellent. Mimosas are made with cheap Brut champagne. AND, the parking will absolutely rip you off! Costs $50 to park in the garage--there is no street parking available because it is always full. Although they offer parking validation, it is useless if you stay past two hours. Not recommended! read more

The restautanwas clean and very inviting. Crystal, the hostess was very pleasant and friendly qnd accomodating. The food options were plentiful, and appealing to the eye, while being absolutely delicious. The fried chicken was especially flavorful, through and through. The skin remained crunchy while the flavor was dancing on my pallette. I had one small issue with the taste of a dish. LaLa was kind enough to convey this information to the chef. Chef Vi came to our table and we discussed the issue. He was very open to suggestions and and ideas. We had a great dinner at the new Hen Quarter southern eatery near Nationals Park last night. The restaurant has a great water view and valet parking. Servers were attentive and offered great suggestions. We loved the creative cocktails, particularly the espresso martini with edible glitter. The entrées were decadent. I had the butterflied Bronzino with caper sauce. It was a great dish with perfectly cooked broccolini and mashed potatoes. Others enjoyed the filet with lobster tail. The sides were delicious! Gourmet Mac & cheese with layers of flavor and perfectly seasoned Old Bay fries. The ambiance and menu make for a fun night out. I highly recommend it for your next trip to DC! This was my first visit at Hen Quarter Prime. Upon entering the restaurant, my party was greeted quickly with a smile, my reservation was acknowledged, and we were seated at once. The overall ambiance, cleanliness, food, and attentive staff, especially Tijuana L, at Hen Quarter Prime, were all great! We were not rushed during our meal, and multiple staff stopped to make sure we were ok. A bonus to our overall experience was the valet parking, who explained the process on arrival and did not keep me waiting when it was time to depart.
