    Scrambled Eggs - So Good
    Nessa R.

After a quick staycation in Baltimore my honey said I didn't have to drive to BMore for crab cake egg rolls, (I LOVE those things). He talked up Kitchen Savages and said they had them too and that I could go to DC for them. Keeping his title as the "BEST" to do all things, he brought me here to immediately try them out. Whoa! Okay, okay, so let's be honest, Kitchen Savages is in the hood and it's NOT giving "hood" vibes. Inside the restaurant, it's quite impressive. They have IKEA plates (which are super cute) and the ambiance gives an allure of upscale. Employees hands down, professional and on point! Service is fantastic. Let's get into it! Chicken and Red Velvet Waffle - Alexa play, Can't get enough by Tamia. Oooooooooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeee! You all see the picture, it was delicious! Eggs - Yummy! Signature Seafood Deviled Eggs - Alexa play, Yes by Beyoncé. Ermahgerd, can you love food this way? I'm guilty! Cleans my drool as I'm writing this. Crab cake egg rolls - Alexa play, Faithfully by Journey. I'm going to give them kudos but not sure they beat my beloved BMore staple. Maybe I need more and another go round. Good but not the best I've ever had. Overall my handsome partner in crime does it again, "food", a love language that only taste buds could share! Yelpies, this place gets my stamp of approval but use caution and go during the day. Ladies you can dim your lights on attire. So badly want to give them 5 stars but the price for the area, I'm not sure I'd come back just for the food at this price point. Worth every penny just not in this location.

Was torn between soul food and jamaican food...yelped nearest soul food restaurants and this spot came up! Establishment was clean..cozy/intimate vibe only has 1 large table and and i thnk like 6 medium or small tables ... staff was great, all male which was cool ..different .. food eh...crab stuffed salmon was good...crab egg rolls good...build your own lacked flavor but presented well..catfish dinner eh, the mac n cheese was missing something A CHEESE FLAVOR..FLAVOR in general but it looked good...collards i enjoyed however my mom said she tasted too much sugar /sweetener...and the catfish looked good however it lacked FLAVOR the batter was off... i wouldnt count this spot out regardless of my experience bc it appears to be fairly new and when we arrived it seems as if everyone in the restaurant was putting in orders at the same time so the chef was probably just overwhelmed...

Our server recommended The Chicken Dinner and it was a 10/10! Literally the best wings I've ever eaten. They were cooked to perfection - crispy and saucy. Mac & cheese was also very tasty. Took a little time to come out but it was well worth the wait. For dessert I had the peach cobbler cheesecake and it was fresh and delicious! I was worried it might be too sweet, but it wasn't. Can't wait to go back!

I work in the area and decided to try this place for lunch. The inside is small and intimate so if you have a big party I recommend making a reservation. The bar area has about seating for 6 people, again, not a big inside space. However, the decor is nice with a nice ambiance. The bartender who took my order was very inviting, friendly, and engaging, based on him alone, I am coming back. I just loved the vibes he gave off. Now to the food. I ordered the burger with fries. The burger didn't have any type of seasoning whatsoever. The fries were seasoned with Old Bay seasoning which made them ok. I see that they do have HH, so if I'm ever working late in the area I'll try the HH drinks, not entirely convinced about the food.

Kitchen Savages is hands down one of the best culinary experiences I've had in a long time. The Catfish Mac and Cheese is next-level comfort food - perfectly seasoned, crispy catfish laid over creamy, rich mac and cheese that hits all the right notes. It's indulgent in the best way possible. The Oyster Rockefeller was a showstopper - fresh, flavorful, and baked to perfection with just the right balance of herbs and butter. You can tell real care goes into every dish here. And I can't say enough good things about the owner, Darrell. His passion for food and community shines through the menu and the atmosphere. He's welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly puts his heart into every plate that leaves the kitchen. If you haven't been to Kitchen Savages yet, you're missing out. This place is a true treasure!

Ugh...I wanna love it so much but I simply don't. A relatively new restaurant in the area with very cute decor, great staff but the food is not the best. The crab cake eggrolls are delicious but that's all. I've been for brunch and dinner by myself and with friends and neither time was I impressed. The staff is super nice, but service is slow, even without a crowd. As they're continuing to grow, I hope they're able to work through operational challenges to continue to add to the vibrancy of the community,

Went with the penne alla vodka and I really liked it. The sauce was rich with a little bit of spice and the pasta was cooked well. I added sausage and it paired perfectly. Everything came out hot and fresh. The vibe of the place was cozy, not too loud. Staff checked in just enough without hovering. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes creamy pasta with a kick.

A nice place to dine in southeast DC! I will admit that parking might be a challenge. We did have reservations and we were seated immediately. Our server was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations about the menu. For starters, we tried the Savage Sampler, which consisted of lamb chops, garlic wings and crab cake rolls. Very good! There were so many menu options! I decided to go with the Ultimate Seafood Pasta, and I was not disappointed! Dessert was the cheesecake sampler, and all were really good. They do have a nice cocktail menu as well. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and we were seated near the window, so it made for bright lighting. Overall, I was very pleased with Kitchen Savages and I look forward to a return visit.

This place is amazing! Darrell and the staff were so attentive, gave the perfect recommendations and the service was top notice. The food was excellent. Everything was seasoned to perfection. I cannot say enough about this restaurant it s a hidden gem but not for long. If you are visiting be sure to add them to a must visit. If you are local you are blessed to have this place at your disposal. Looking forward to coming back as the music, service, drinks, and vibes are unmatched.

My friends and I celebrated our birthdays here and it was a great time. The menu selections were unique and delicious. We loved the crab egg rolls.

I visited Kitchen Savages on a random Sunday @ 8:30 and I was surprised to see that it was relatively empty. We definitely didn't need our reservation but who knew?!? I'm always a little skeptical when a place is empty especially a newer establishment so we ordered with our antennas up! We got the crab cake eggrolls for an appetizer, the salmon topped with jumbo shrimp and jerk lamb chops for entrees. Kudos to the "Savage" that was in the "Kitchen" cooking our food. Absolutely delicious! Seasoned to perfection, I cannot wait to come back and order the same damn thing!! The interior is small but has a lot of character. Just think of a mini Busboys and Poets. It does have a nice size bar, where most of the patrons were. The music was a little loud and they were playing the "uncut" versions of the most popular rap songs! Maybe I'm showing my age, but I could have lived without that playlist while eating..LOL! Our server was attentive and pleasant. I'm not sure if it was her or the cook who put the shrimp on top of the salmon instead of the crab that we ordered, but hey, it all worked out because it was great :) Being a native of the DMV, I'm loving that business owners are pouring into the Anacostia area, which is having somewhat of a renaissance. Hey, if Harlem can do it, so can Anacostia..LOL!

The atmosphere is extremely vibrant and filled with positive energy ( I came in for a takeout order and ended up staying for over two hours... ) I had the honey hot sauce Salmon bites... and I would call them mini bites of perfection ( absolutely delicious ) seasoned just right and the HH serving definitely outshines its $8 tab... I also ordered the 1/2 chicken with seafood fried rice and cabbage ( that's for dinner.. but I couldn't wait to put the spot light on their super live HH ! ) The customer service is cool ( they can seem a little overwhelmed at times ) shoutout to Tae the bartender for doing an amazing job at keeping everyone happy and grooving ( Hennessy side-car was no less than an 8 1/2 ) And I want to give BIG props to the manager ( Kelvin I believe his name is ) he went above and beyond to ensure that every soul in his restaurant was pleased and took care of on a high level from beginning to end... definitely should be up for restaurant manager of the year !!! FYI: Now, my biggest gripe ( and what had me close to putting 3-stars... but the Vibe kept it at 4-stars ) was the fact that I ordered a dozen of raw oysters and they served them on a plate ( not on ice ) the oysters were warm, which made them stick to the shell entirely too much. Kelvin, one word of advice... no high end or reputable establishment ever serves their oysters on a ice less plate ( NEVER ) I know you'll correct that in the very near future... The Breakdown: Fried Green Tomatoes: Overcomplicated and heavy. The crab meat on top came in huge chunks...almost like chicken nuggets...and sat in a very thick cream sauce over corn. It was underseasoned, and the combination of textures and flavors just didn't come together for me. Fried Pork Chops: I'm so glad I got the gravy on the side because it was extremely salty. I had to use hot sauce to give the pork chops some actual flavor. Sides (Greens & Fried Rice): Very average. Cornbread: If you like cornbread that tastes like actual dessert, you might enjoy this. But for me, it was super-duper sweet...put caramel on it and it could pass for a cake. Maybe it was just an off day for the kitchen or I ordered the wrong items, but for all the hype, it fell flat Maybe I'm just a tough critic because Chicago has me spoiled with great food! Service was friendly. The restaurant was an older facility with decor saying we're trying to be modern. I was a little let down spending almost $100 for average.

We ended up ordering two large, different boil bags for six people which ended up being too much food. One thing to note is that the crawfish (1 pound) is a ton of crawfish. That may be obvious to some, but if you are not versed in eating it, there's a lot of little guys that come. We opted to do one hot bag and one medium bag both with the mixed flavoring option. The hot one was the perfect level of spice. I prefer very spicy, so if that is not your avenue, I'd probably go with one of the lesser spice levels. Two of my friends who were eating the non-spicy bag commented that they thought that was too hot, so take that for what it's worth. I enjoyed the sides of rice, it was cooked perfectly. They also provided you sides of extra sauce, but it was a little difficult to use without a spoon, and it felt awkward just dunkink our hands in... we were already grabbing so much stuff with our hands, so that would've been nice to have some type of apparatus to be able to spoon it into our desired bowls easily. I thought the shrimp was excellent. I don't eat crawfish so I can't comment on those, but those that did seem to enjoy it. The mussels weren't my favorite, but other others enjoyed them. I loved the potatoes, and I thought there should've been more. I also love the idea of the boiled eggs, those were delicious. And hands-down, my absolute favorite was the corn. It was cooked so perfectly, and so moist, and delicious. This is definitely experience. They give you bibs and they cover the table with a mat. They also give you a bag to be able to dispose of shells easily. It's kind of messy when you actually have a full table of people, but if you have a smaller table, it's actually better to be able to spread out a bit and then have your bag on one side. The restaurant was pretty bumping when we were there, not every table is filled, but I would say probably 70% of the restaurant was. I recommend getting there early if you're planning to go as they do not take reservations. Overall, this is a cool experience and would recommend if you are interested in trying a crab boil.

The inside is small with only 4 stools, but it's a great upgrade from the interior of Rhode Island Ave Express. Dessert options don't look that great. Service was also friendly. It definitely wins on proximity for me and I would order from here again.

I was in DC for birthday celebration search yelp and voila Hen Quarter was the first option; so…read morehere we are. The restaurant is so beautiful and inviting. So much attention to detail from the front door lighting to the soft seating; beautiful plates, flowers pink napkins and forks. Thé service was hostess was just okay; however our server Marque was awesome. He made great suggestions knew the menu and verified menu items requested. He did not miss anything. I appreciated him checking in timely. There was also a woman-manager maybe who was also friendly and checked on our satisfaction while eating. The food and drinks; I came for seafood. We ordered fried lobster pasta- which included shrimp; spicy goodness! So flavorful; my only minus was a bit oil at the bottom of the pasta(curious about that. The jerk bites were delicious seasoned but a little chewy. The deviled eggs; so good I forgot to get a full presentation lol. The lemon was made to perfection and my passion fruit margarita was tasty. Overall I was very satisfied with my first side quest adventure. I'll be back with more friends or family.

I was excited to finally get a reservation at Hen Quarter. The restaurant is beautiful, and the…read morewaterfront location makes for a great atmosphere. Surprisingly, it wasn't very busy for a Friday night near Navy Yard, which, in hindsight, may have been a sign. The service got off to a rough start. Valet parking was advertised, but no valet was present when we arrived. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone showed up. Once seated, it took quite a while for our server to introduce himself, check on us, and even offer water. We opted for the $30 unlimited drinks, which sounded like a great deal. Unfortunately, the bartender struggled with an Old Fashioned multiple times. The first drink had the wrong liquor, incorrect ingredients, and even the wrong ice. After another attempt, our server explained that the bartender was new, so he ended up making and pouring the drink himself. The food was a mixed bag. The jerk steak bites were disappointing, several of the six pieces were mostly fat, making the appetizer feel like a waste. The Brussels sprouts, which are cooked with okra, were anything but crispy. Instead, they were extremely slimy. The lobster pasta had good flavor, but it was swimming in so much oil you could have fried a batch of chicken. On the positive side, the chicken and waffles were delicious and easily the best dish we ordered. The sea bass, however, was just mediocre. To end the evening, we experienced another long wait. It took about 15 minutes for the valet to return, and then another 10 minutes to bring the car. Overall, Hen Quarter has a beautiful location and a lot of potential, but the inconsistent service and hit-or-miss food made for a disappointing experience. I really wanted to love it, but based on this visit, I wasn't impressed. I hope they can work through these issues because the restaurant truly has the potential to be something special.
