This review is from my first time at the place on a Friday night. 6.25 for an okay Guinness. Didn't seem to have too much on tap. Blue Moon was good though. Bar tender was nice and attentive. People were typically 30-45. Good mix of native Californians and transplants. Everyone was in pretty good spirits. Didn't feel as irish as I'd thought/hoped it would. A few HDTVs showing football/baseball. Bottom line is that I got pretty drunk and had fun at the bar talking to people. read more

I used to love "The Hen", but will not continue to go there. The drinks are not that good anymore. I ordered a tuna melt and for ten dollars got a too crispy sandwich slammed on plate with potatoe chips, no garnish, no nothing, no tomatore and lettuce - I had to ask. Probably the WORST SANDWICH I've had lately AND OVERPRICED LIKE THEIR DRINKS. Ridiculously, no liquor drinks can be served on the outside patio, which is part of the beach athmosphere that should be enjoyed. Stupid RB laws. Great local spot if you live locally in the village or Hollywood Riviera. Henneseys serves all three meals of the day. You can have a night out shutting the bar down until 2am then come back at 9am for breakfast. The nightly crowd can vary from your blue collar crowd having some fun on the weekend or a rowdy 21st birthday party. Sunday nights is beer and a shot night, Monday's is karaoke night which is always a blast. Henneseys really captures the local South Bay feeling of going out with some buds for some beers. The one bartender who is a middle age white man usually wearing a visor is not the most friendly gentleman. It's very straight forward and business. Went in yesterday to have a drink with a friend.... Sat at the bar... Ordered a glass of pino noir... Bogle..it was ok... Our bartender said Do you not like it? I said its meh.. he said you can get a different one... So he gave me a sample of Rodney Strong's pino... Very good! So he took back my other wine and got me a glass of the Rodney Strong.... My friend had four bud lights... Our bill was $50 bucks! . . . Not only was I charged for the glass of wine I did not drink, $8.75 I was charged $3.00 also for the sample AND the other wine $11.75. And bud lights here are $5.75 ea.. needless to say I was disappointed at this kind of service... No wonder it was empty... . . I will not be back. Went for breakfast on a Sunday. Sat outside due to having a dog with us, after sitting for about ten minutes, the waitress had come outside, delivered menu's to others, and not even acknowledged us. We left, and for some reason, decided to come back after about 30 minutes. We were greeted quickly this time, by another waitress. The blue cheese bacon burger comes with bacon bits. I don't understand that. How hard is it to grill up some bacon? It makes the burger taste better, and definitely look better. Expensive everything, and just not that good. But the best is Hennessy's Riveria Village because you've also got GM RIich Feldhuhn who is AWESOME. We are Sunday football regulars now. Rich has our game on ready for us so we don't miss any of it, very important since we are Browns fans & gotta call dibs on one of the TVs before the place fills up. Came here for a late night cocktail on a Friday night and it was a good time! They had a cover band playing that livened up the place -playing a mix of 70s and 90s stuff. The prices matched the scene for drinks and the seating was comfortable. All the servers and bartenders were very friendly and welcoming. Great place for a round or two while you listen to the tunes and watch folks dancing like no one is watching. Fun late night alternative for folks that don't take themselves too seriously. read more

Service is good, food is real good. This is a very locals type of place. Came in for the anniversary part on a beer tube. Good selection of beer. Good food specials, Tuesdays is by one get one burgers. Out door patio in the back. It a nice casual place to grab some drinks and food, without dealing with a "bar" type of place, and without to a place that had a identity problem thinking they can be a sit down family place and a night club. We came here after eating at the Rockefeller and we were not disappointed. This is your typical neighborhood bar that most are locals from the area. As we entered the bar we noticed off to the right, there is a seating area with some tables and chairs and a few T.Vs so you don't miss your sports game if you prefer not to sit at the bar We ordered a bottle of there champagne and cranberry and had several mimosas. We noticed that in the back of the bar, there are some stairs that lead up to the 2nd floor smoking section where there's a big screen t.v and more tables and chairs, this was the spot to be and to hang out because such rowdy, crazy and fun people hang out here. We met several people and chit chatted for hours and in the middle of it we got hungry so we decided to check out there menu. We ordered the potatoes smothered in cheese and omg, they were the best cheese potatoes I have ever had. The service was great here even though I thought it wouldn't be since we were upstairs and I thought we would be forgotten but I was wrong. I will definitely continue coming back to Hennessy's to try there other food they have on the menu and continue ordering there champagne at there wonderful happy hour prices read more

My favorite spot in Redondo Beach!!! Food is fantastic = from breakfast, lunch and dinner you can't go wrong with your selection. The Gaelic chicken salad is amazing. The burgers rock. I would recommend the Spicy lass. They have 2 for 1 burgers on Tuesday (bring a friend). Happy hour has a great selection of food and drinks reasonably priced from $4 to $6. Above all, their entire staff (Tam, Ashley, Dan and Amber) is super friendly and attentive. I come in weekly and Tam takes great care of me. We recently had a large party together to watch a soccer game on the back patio and Tam managed our group (30 people total) like a champ. She rocks. I keep coming back because Christian (general manager) and their entire staff make me feel at home. Love this place!!! read more

Used to like Hennessey's a lot. I moved out of state and came back for a visit after three years to find a Coors light draft is $6. WTF?! It's a Fn Coors and not even a true 16oz glass. Did ot taste any diffetent tnan the one I get from tje store? No. Is the service any better than it was three years ago? Not a bad place for a big group. This Hennessey's is the smallest of the 3 in the South Bay (Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan). This one is located in the beautiful Redondo Beach Riviera. I've been here a few times, but most recently was the best time yet. I found out they have an outdoor patio in the back that you can reserve for private parties. My company reserved this for a happy hour. This back area had about 9 tables, heat lamps overhead, and a big 55in flat screen high up in the corner. This back area is covered, but there is a small gap between the covering and the walls, so it can get cold (hence the heat lamps). We had around 17 people in our party and it didn't feel cramped at all. I would say no more that 25 people in your group though, or else it will feel a little cramped. We had a dedicated waitress to bring out our drink orders and happy hour food. They have really good spinach dip and roast beef sliders! I'm going to give this place 3 stars because it doesn't blow your socks off, but it's a decent place to bring a group. read more

This last Sunday my wife and I decided to stop in for some dinner in one of my old hangouts. When I was a Redondo Beach local, we used to always find our way down here. The food was reasonable, the booze was cold and place had a great upstairs patio. At least I can say that the atmosphere has not changed much. The food on the other hand has gone downhill (way way down hill). The Sheppard's pie I ordered tasted like it came out of a cardboard factory. It was served cold and the portion was tiny, maybe 6 bites. My wife ordered the Chicken Pasta, very unimpressive was the best adjective she could come up with. She was just being nice. The worst part about it was the fact that for our two dinners and two glasses of ice tea, the check was $45. Forty-Five dollars for cold bar food, I am sure you would pass too. There are better bets around Riviera Village, I suggest you find one. read more

Do not eat here until the health inspector has come to clean up their pest problem! I went there recently and my boyfriend saw a ROACH wandering around the floor. The bartender must had seen it too because he immediately smashed it with his foot and covered up the evidence with a bar stool. That is so gross! If you are going to kill the bug, at least clean up the blood and guts! Now I know pests can get in once in a while, but I saw a second one that was huge and I nearly threw up. Cracks me up when people post one star reviews because they show up without id or order breakfast after breakfast hours and get denied. This is a good place to go grab a pint or two and eat some bar fare. They also give you a free meal on thursday, the week of your birthday. Yes, you will have to show your id, so dont leave it in your work pants. Oh and when you order a double shot, be prepared to pay for a double. Live music here on the weekend. read more

Breakfast, lunch or dinner...can't go wrong at Hennessey's. Redondo location is usually not too packed, and street seating is nice on a warm day. As always the burgers are delicious, but for breakfast I recommend the corned beef. $4 bloody Mary's on weekends is nice too... read more

Old school Irish Pub w/ tasty salmon! Went to Hennessey's on a Monday night and discovered through a brief conversation with the bartender Kristen that they were running a $5 "shot and beer" special. Who am I to deny an establishment from offering a loss leader. I sipped on my beer and stared at my shot while thinking (and feeling), "I'm really hungry". So, I moved to a table and looked at the menu. I was about to leave and check out a crepe place a few doors down, because I have overcome my preoccupation with eating "dude food" at bars. I don't need to waste calories on wings and potato skins! I'm just sayin'. Then the waitress, Chelsea, suggested I try their salmon. I'm thinking, is that shoe sole salmon or hockey puck salmon or even leather salmon. There was no way I was going to enjoy salmon from an Irish Pub with green carpet and an industrial warehouse style heater hanging from the ceiling. She seemed honest enough and down to earth, so I rolled the proverbial dice and ordered salmon. I could not have been more wrong!! The salmon was delicious! It was not over cooked and soooo flavorful. It reminded me of the salmon at the Watergrill in DTLA and at a third of the price. What a find! Thank you $5 loss leader deals and nice waitresses like Chelsea suggesting tasty eats!!! I will return and hopefully this is not a one-off culinary experience. read more
