purchased a used vehicle from Herb Chambers Lexus one year ago (not a brand they sell new). At the time of purchase, both the salesperson and finance manager told me the extended warranty I bought could be used at any mechanic. Recently, when my local shop contacted the warranty company, they were told the vehicle must be serviced at the selling dealer unless that dealer declines the repair. When I contacted Herb Chambers Lexus, I was told they would not decline it and that the work had to be done through them -- which contradicts what I was told at purchase. I was then told that "any Herb Chambers location" could service it. However, my local Herb Chambers dealership informed me they do not have the equipment to diagnose this brand and referred me back to Lexus. To add to the frustration, I was initially told I would receive a loaner vehicle for the inconvenience, only to be called back 10 minutes later and told that was a mistake. This has been a disappointing experience due to inconsistent information and lack of clarity about the warranty terms. Stay away. Bought a car and after purchase detailing the car was damaged while being driven for delivery. The salesman and sales manager downplayed the damage as "not much'. I refused to take possession of the vehicle, and was inconvenienced for nine days while the car was repaired. No genuine apologies. No financial reimbursement. A discussion with the Corp. Prepare for 5 hours of sitting in lobby. Only way you can go here, is if you have everything set before you step in, vehicle, price, everything ready to go. Every task, add 35-45 minutes to it. Totally understand some of the paperwork takes time and they design it that way to squeeze you on extra's but this is hall of fame territory. The experience was like getting off a cross country flight and then waiting at baggage claim for 6 hours while everyone just walked around with no answers. Had my car serviced and under 24 hours my tire exploded .... The whole car was supposedly inspected and tires rotated with new brakes. When I called dealership, the receptionist said I would get a call back in 2-3 minutes but that never happened. read more

They provided exceptional Customer Service which included a seamless trade-in process and an extremely fair valuation for my "old" car. In addition, they made sure the "new" car was up to "Lexus" standards which included, 2 new (front) tires, a new Lexus battery, an alignment, oil change and a full tank of gas. I had to replace my car recently due to an accident (not my fault!) so I headed back to Herb Chambers, based on my family prior purchasing and service experiences there. What a disappointing experience. From the sales to the service, things have changed at Herb Chambers, in my experience, and not for the better. Sales: It started fairly straightforward- just show me a previously owned car with low mileage and I'll buy it. I mean, I was driving a rental and I needed to replace my car. By my second conversation with the salesperson, I was so sure he was trying to gaslight me, I nearly cancelled my deposit and went elsewhere. But, red flags be damned, I wanted the car with the low mileage, the not-especially good purchase price and supposed quick availability, so . . . Every single time I had a conversation with the salesperson, I had questions about the existing options, the payment process - the usual. Every time I asked questions, I received conflicting answers and when I questioned the answers, I was met with a guileless gaze and some eye-rolling. This continued right up until the day I handed over the money and finally picked up the car. I guess I should have been thankful he showed me where the CD player was in the car, because he seemed to think that would matter to me. Other than that? That's all I got, plus a "good luck" and a goodbye wave. A huge difference from the time I sat behind the wheel in my first car and the Herb Chambers salesperson spent 45 minutes showing me the technology and how to use it. This salesman clearly wanted me gone and done! Service: I brought the car in for service about 6 weeks after pickup, as (1) I just couldn't figure out how to install the cargo net that the prior owner left in the factory packaging, It should have been easy to figure out, but wasn't and (2) one of the side mirrors was being weird. After a couple hours I was sent on my way, being told I just needed to fix the setting on the mirror and that the net was installed. Actually the net was only partially installed (I still haven't figured out how to fasten it completely!) and after watching somewhere between 6 and 14 YouTube videos tossed online by other, more helpful dealers, I've concluded the mirror is haunted, because no matter what I do, just one mirror is acting weird! Again, a long way down from prior service visits when things were explained, fixed, adjusted- worked on until completed. I wouldn't have returned to Herb Chambers Hingham if I'd known what buying a car there would now entail, and experience has shown me to definitely have a much lower bar set for service expectations. Bought a used car 17 explorer had a few cosmetic issues that they promised to fix and after 18 days of them keeping it to fix it right so it was safe for the road they give it back with the same tire on it that was new but had a bad side wall gouge in it .... Just bought my used car, finally took it home today after the management was dicking around refusing to fix/schedule a repair that should've been done before it was on the lot for sale. Cannot speak highly enough about Caren for selling me the car, she was above the bar when it came to professionalism and putting the customer first. Go to her if you wanna buy new or used from this dealer. When it comes to the financing and anything past the sales person, go to Marcus, do NOT go to Jano Letaif. It's been 8 days since payment for the vehicle, it was being "sold as is" and Jano kept withholding the car, blaming everyone else but herself for her not listening when issues were made aware of. I only had my work van to drive, which anyone knows you can't use them for personal use. Very unsatisfied with Jano and her unprofessionalism and zero consideration for the customer. Honestly, I should have known better, since this IS a car dealership; a good reminder to make sure you get everything in writing. I put a refundable down payment on a SUV, came to terms on the disposal of my current lease, and waited three weeks for the SUV to come into the dealership (there is a wait). Clearly the terms they offered me were too good (for me) and I was told that if I couldn't produce the terms in writing, then they could not honor them. Mind you, this was the same sales person, who incidentally recalled nearly everything else about our conversation. Shame on me for expecting integrity. I ended up walking away, no harm no foul, but would have really loved that car. My assumption is that it went to the highest bidder, even though I put a down payment on it. read more

Had a great experience at the service department of Herb Chambers Lexus of Hingham. It was my first complimentary service and I found it thorough. The video explanation of service was a nice touch. They also linked the second key fob ( yes it took a while to get ) I did not receive at purchase. I found the waiting room comfortable and enjoyed the free coffee and cookies. The staff was friendly and accommodating. A free car wash was included and just in time to have my RX looking sharp for Thanksgiving. The service did take a bit longer than what was quoted and they apologized for any inconvenience. The price of extra service I requested was fair. I brought my car in for an advertised maintenance special. The service advisor tried to upsell me spark plugs for $487. This is my 4th Lexus and I've never replaced spark plugs. The Lexus warranty and service guide says to replace at 120000 miles. My parking assist light was on and the service advisor tried to upsell me a diagnostic for $ 199. The sensors just needed to be wiped clean which I did and it works fine. Very disappointed with your dealership! When my car was ready it was never brought back into the garage and I had to go looking for it. All of my setting were altered and I had to reset every thing. A mini detail was supposed to be included with the maintenance package but all they did was wash the car. When I came home I had to wash the windows to get rid of the water spots and I had to vacuum because they didn't. I won't be returning to this dealership!!!! read more

I have posted the review on Google but I think I should also copy this review on Yelp to let more people know about this dealership. I came in to Lexus of Hingham for annual inspection today. The service advisor Kevin Chan tried to upsell me a new pair of windshield wipers. I rarely drive this car and seldom use the wipers and it was still in good condition if not excellent(attached pictures). He told me that I must replace the wipers to pass the inspection and there are cameras everywhere. This is totally ridiculous way to make more money! Also, it took another 30 minutes wait to receive my car after he told me I needed a new wipers. I will never be back to this dealership PERIOD. read more

Hubz and I test drove two certified pre-owned vehicles here. We liked one vehicle in particular and sat down with the salesperson Dave (slightly older gentlemen who originally seemed trustworthy). He tried to add a $1,300 cost of the certification to the listed price online when no other dealership, not even another Herb Chambers, does that. It was made even worse when we questioned it and the cost was immediately removed. The explanation given by the manager Joe Sullivan was a special from Lexus when you finance with them. That was also proven not to be true when they still took away the false $1,300 cost even when not financed. I was appalled by how untrustworthy the sales team at this dealership were! In addition, they said prices were firm and non-negotiable. So overall, the vehicle was good but the sales experience was really poor. Fortunately, we found a significantly better deal with another Lexus dealership the next day that also allowed for wiggle room on the listed price online. The only reason I gave two stars is the receptionist was awesome about keeping us hydrated with water on an exceptionally humid and hot day. If you don't want to be played by untrustworthy salespeople, I would suggest avoiding this dealership in your search for a Lexus. read more

After all, I spoke to the general manager Jason Herndon, and he took care of everything very promptly and smoothly. I got my check delivered to my place 3 hours after I spoke to Jason. He said he would call me back in 5 mins and he really did. I'm only going back to Herb Chamber hingham because of his professional manner. Let me just say, the team over at HC Lexus sure knows how to make a gal feel good about getting a car! From the very first time I set foot into the dealership to the very last minute when they had the final run-through on how everything worked in the car, I was thrilled at the thought of driving off with my brand new car :) Starting with Kevin, he just made the experience absolutely seamless and wonderful (Is there such a thing?). He knew the budget I had to work with and also understood the kind of quality I was looking for and as most of you know, those two things don't usually see eye to eye. He was so patient though and at the end, we were able to work out an arrangement that worked amazingly. When I came in to sign the papers, Joel walked me through all the steps involved and made sure I understood the many options available to me. Then finally, when the car was ready for pickup, Marcus was there to greet us with smiles and to make sure we had everything we needed before he bade us farewell. My mother and I went to this dealership b/c it was close to our home, what a big mistake! I scheduled my visit in advance and gave them the stock numbers for 5 car I was interested in test driving. I was told everything would be ready for my arrival... NOT! 1. When I mention the chaos observed getting the first car ready the Agent stated he only was notified 40 minutes before my arrival. 2. After we test drove the first car, I was ready to test drive the next, instead he kept telling me the cars pretty much drove the same. I told him I wanted to test drive ALL the cars on my list, especially since I had taken time off from work for this anticipated appointment. He truly didn't want to test drive another car from his demeanor. 3. It was over 80 degrees and scorching hot and he had me look in the lot with him for the cars. He had me walk across the lot to where they wash the cars while he looked for the second car. I was dripping sweat and overheating, then he then had us walk back across the lot to show me another car in the very hot sun. Mind you my elderly mom was still sitting in the first car we drove. She was baffled as to why a luxury car dealership would have a buying customer running across the lot in the heat looking for cars to drive!!!! 4. I told the agent I was ready to test drive the next car and he proceeded to walk me around the another car telling me it drives pretty much the same as the first car. I again, told him I wanted to test drive the cars on my list!!!!! He clearly didn't want to take me on the road again, which I found odd. At this point, I was starting to get very aggravated . As far as I'm concerned he didn't have to test drive anything with me, we could have driven the car alone. 5. I only got to test drive 3 of the five cars , and at this point I was upset and the customer experience was ruined 6. Negotiations was another horrible experience as they decided to use the "tag team" approach for one female customer. I started the process with Ryan and then he went and got his condescending general manager who thought his offensive jokes were funny. And he had the nerve to shake my hand to seal the deal to only tell me he was just playing and that he couldn't sale me the car. It took everything in me not to give him a few choice words, but I decided not to waste my breath or time as I knew they had unknowingly just lost TWO sales. My mom was with me not for support but because she wanted to lease a Lexus but wanted to see how we would be treated and received by the Hingham dealership . We read reviews that this dealership isn't the friendliest to People of color, but we wanted to have our own experience. What I can say is this...my neighbor is white, and when I shared this entire story with her, she was appalled because she and her mother didn't have the same experience. In fact she said, she was NEVER asked to locate cars in the lot and that the Agent encouraged her to drive several cars to get the feel of each car. Also, she didn't have two men to deal with her during negotiation; In fact, she said they were very accommodating in trying to close the deal by adding free items and services to make the deal more appealing . I told her that wasn't my experience with the Agent and GM who I found to be arrogant and condescending with a warp sense of humor, I found offensive at times. I'm done with Herb Chambers, specifically this location!!! I plan to shop where ALL customers are treated the same ; and don't have to deal with fake handshakes that end with "thank you but we can't sale you the car have a nice day" ... with a smirk on his face, NOT funny!!!! This is a public service message. I own 2 Lexus and everyone in my family owns a Toyota or Lexus. I have bought many Lexus over the years from Herb Chambers and had a very bad experience and went to IRA Lexus (which is excellent). I am helping a friend buy a used RX and we saw one at Herb Chambers that was priced right and was what they were looking for. I called the dealer and asked if the car was available and it was, I said I will be there in an hour to view it and hopefully buy it. We arrived at the dealership and found the car and looked it over. The car looked great and we were ready to buy. Went into the sales office and waited. Then the manager comes and tells us the car has been sold. It wasn't sold 5 minutes prior when they called me to see where I was. They were all so sorry but more than happy to show us other RX's with a lot less options for $2000 more. What's really interesting is I waited 24 hours and the car is still available and posted on line for sale. This is CLASSIC bait and switch. PLEASE USE CAUSTION. I had an unethical interaction with this dealer. This might be an "exception" considering the amount of good reviews it has. However, all it takes is 1 "exception" to know what this dealer is capable of. Mike, the Finance manager of Herb Chambers Hingham asked me to provide a check with the full value of a vehicle whose title was NOT in its possession. Furthermore, HC cashed check WITHOUT any concrete date to obtain the title. My only communication from the dealer in the course of 2 weeks was limited to "we still do not have the title." I immediately asked for a refund of the check once I realized that HC has cashed the check without the title in its possession. Despite repeat emphasis of the need for an overnight delivery in order to purchase a new car, the dealer chose the cheaper delivery option that did not include weekend delivery. Really Herb Chambers? How much money do you make from selling cars that you can't pay a couple of extra dollars to get an overnight delivery? Because of this, I will have spent 5 days working with/waiting for HC to provide my refund for something that it ILLEGALLY requested/cashed. Buyers beware. This dealer may have nice shinning rooms and friendly receptionists, but those do not mask their willingness to cross the legal and ethical line. read more

Don't go here unless you want to be totally disregarded after your purchase. Bought a 5 series BMW used. After about 6 weeks engine light came on. We checked with our local guy who scanned for the codes,told us what it was and said it was too complex fir them to fix. Looked through service receipts in the glovebox and saw this problem had already been attempted to fix with the car history. Went back to Lexus fir help and they lied about the codes and told us too bad. They said according to lemon law they were only responsible up until about 2 weeks before we brought it in. So, in a nutshell if you want to deal with people who don't care about you once the deal is done, this is your place! What a great experience! From the first inquiry, I spoke with Kayla who was very attentive and was constantly communicating. We then walked into the dealership with a lease and vehicle to trade in. My wife and I bought a vehicle from Evison Tili at Herb Chambers Lexus of Hingham. We drove it home to Peabody on June 4th. The very next day, June 5th, it unexpectedly shut down while driving on Route 1 in Saugus. It would not restart. We called Herb Chambers and were told we had to have it towed back to Hingham in order for it to be repaired under warranty. We asked if we could instead have it repaired at a one of the many Herb Chambers dealerships closer to home. We were told we couldn't, however, they would reimburse the towing fees. It took until June 18th (13 days) to diagnose and repair a faulty fuel pump. We drove down to Hingham to collect it. They told us they would sort out the towing, but didn't. On July 6, the car unexpectedly shut down again while driving through Salem. Again, we called Herb Chambers and were told we had to have it towed back to Hingham. It took until July 26 (20 days) to diagnose and repair a faulty air intake hose that connected to the turbo unit. They told us they would sort out the towing, but didn't. Herb Chambers had our car in their shop nearly five of the seven weeks we owned it. It's deceptive and unjust that they promised to reimburse nearly $300 in towing fees, yet as of August 31, still haven't. I'm afraid we won't be dealing with Herb Chambers again. read more

No hype, no false claims, just straight, honest and clear communication through the entire process, which required his dealership to take 6 separate drives of 40+ miles each way in order to complete the transaction. So many sales people step off after the front end is completed. Johnny Saghbini and James Alteus have proven themselves to be notable exceptions. *James braved Friday evening rush hour traffic just to deliver my WeatherTech floor mats. *Service Advisor Sean Lunny had a 2019 RX 350 delivered to my house while speakers were replaced in my car. Absolutely peerless customer attention. This dealership has earned my complete trust in confidence now and for all future vehicle purchases. read more

I traded in my RX350 lease for a pre-owned NX200t F-sport at Lexus Hingham on 9/7 and took delivery of the car 2 weeks later. During those 2 weeks where they promised to buff out the scratches/dents and replaced the melted plastic piece near the AC vent, I have received no follow up emails or calls from the salesman Chris. It took 2 phone calls from me to Chris to finally get the car on 9/21. When I got the car, the scratches and dents were still there. I was told the that was the best they could do with the scratches and forgot about the dents. I don't think they did anything to the scratches because they looked the same to me. Chris promised me to call to schedule a day when I could come in for the dents to be pulled out, but I have not heard from him. It took another 2 phone calls on my part in the last month for him to schedule an appointment on for 10/30 to get the dents taken care of. Now, I reserve the right to change the rating after 10/30 based on my satisfaction but as of now, I am extremely frustrated that i have not gotten any follow up by the dealership. It has always been me calling them and they failed to call me back as promised, until today when I specifically said I would escalate this issue to a sales manager that I finally have gotten an appointment for 10/30. I am very doubtful when promises are not fulfilled. I've paid to have the car simonized and after all this, I am doubtful if it was even done, or that they conveniently 'forgot' about it as they did with the dents/scratches. read more

Awful attitude, I will never come back to this place. NEVER! The salesman is too noble for us. I respect privacy so I won't write the sales's name here, but I have to express my feeling towards this experience. The sales never introduced himself or asked me or my husband's name, never smile. As a customer, didn't I deserve some respect? The atmosphere was awkward and weird. He asked me what car I am looking for and what's my budget. Ok, that's fine, those are all reasonable questions. I answered those then he said he need to check if there is any available car in stock so we don't waste our time. Oh wow, he really go straight forward to filter his buyer immediately and kick away those ppl who want to know more about the car. Am I supposed to know all the detailed features before coming here? Why should I chose Lexus and get myself being treated like an idiot? If you are busy and do not have time for us, just let us know. We can just walk around and take care of ourselves. That would be better since I don't have to bear your attitude. To be honest, me and my husband wants to buy Lexus SUV for a while and recently it's perfect timing. It seems this place has had a lot of mixed reviews. I am in the process of acquiring a new car and have been to Audi, BMW, Nissan, Toyota, and other dealers. Appearance: This dealership i very well equipped, beautifully decorated and very clean. Immediately you get the sense that you are in a luxury dealership. This place has complementary espresso machine snacks and a decor that has yet to rival any other dealership. Costumer service: I can understand that there are many employees and ones experience is circumstantial on the sales rep you get. Marcus Karam is by far the best sales rep I have worked with. He was attentive to my family and dedicated a lot of time with me going over numbers, car comparisons, and explaining the differences between Lexus and other brands. He was not assertive nor did he besmirch the competition. The manager was also very nice and sat down with us at the end of the test drive (RX350 and IS300 f sport). The cars speak for themselves. they are beautiful. As a Buyer I have to try and remain objective although the costumer service component is important as it could indicate the experience you have after the fact. Although I haven't decided on a car nor a brand I was so impressed with this dealership that I took it upon myself to write a review. The definitely set the bar high. read more
