Quickly came out to fix the problem in order so that another worker I had there could continue the job they were working on. Brian and Eddy diagnosed the issue and fixed it. Although one of three shower stems in the kit I had didn't work Brian did his best to puzzle the final stem together so I didn't have to spend more time and money. In the end it just wouldn't work but he recommended a solution and that will be the next step for me. He did however fix the problem called out for so that the other worker I had there could continue. read more

My plumbing was deemed defective back in the 90s. Unfortunately no one informed me of this when I purchased the mobile home. I finally decided to get a quote on a complete repiping of the home. Herk Jr. came out right away and gave me an affordable quote for the repipe and a new water heater and put me on the schedule for the following week. He and his crew did a great job. They were respectful and conscientious of my home and my dogs. Because it was such a huge project, there were some follow ups needed, which they responded to immediately. I have a pet peeve about any service organization. If it's voicemail and they might get back to you, I move to the next. Herk's has a wonderful lady answering the phone, gave me an estimate over the phone and told me when they could be there. Mitch and one other guy (sorry I didn't get his name) showed up on time on the day. I had purchased a garbage disposal off Amazon and they told me it was a cheap unit, they could install it but pointed out that it didn't have certain features. Their unit with a 3 year warranty was only $40 more. Price included all plumbing and installation. I gladly paid the $40 dollars extra. The guys did a perfect job in about an hours time. I would highly suggest you don't bother calling anybody else. If you need a plumber, this is the company to call. Don't waste your time and money on anybody else. read more

I've used Herks for years and have always been happy with them. Fair rates and good work. I've had Herk Sr and others replace water heater, sinks, toilets, disposals, dishwashers etc. The office lady and service people have been great. Never a complaint until now. I had a water softener replaced. I was told $125 for replacement in existing system. When service arrived they said that was the cost to come look and said $300 for the job and that they wouldn't take away the old one and they didn't like doing water softeners. After 2 stops to go to the store for parts it leaked. They had it good before they left but the fittings are mismatched and my old pipe clamps are broken. In the process of turning the water back on they turned a faucet on full blast that was connected to a hose running to the backyard sprinkler. We were unaware until my daughter went into the backyard and found it flooding the garden, some new lighting fixtures about to be installed even sprayed the windows and roof. They replaced the water supply lines so i removed the brass lines on my old softener with the plastic manifold and placed them on a shelf. Before they left they put them in their van. I asked for them back because they are fine and brass. They took my check but left without giving me a receipt. After speaking with the lady in the office she apologized and sent us a receipt. Friendly and helpful as always. It is the actual work that left me disappointed. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company! They arrive on time. They are super knowledgeable and kind. They explain repairs and give options. The quality of their work is excellent! We had a toilet (40+ years old) that needed replacing, another one (25+ years old) that needed repairs, and then the morning of the appointment our water heater (8 years old) stopped working! Talk about frustrating and inconvenient! We called the morning of the appointment to let them know about the water heater. They came prepared for a replacement (which we did need). Additional issues popped up when trying to replace the toilet and they had to make an additional run for more parts. When the second toilet decided not to work well with the new repairs, they went out, picked up a new toilet, and installed it for us instead of requiring us to pick one up and make an additional appointment for it. When we panicked a bit about the estimated cost, they talked us through it in a kind, empathetic, patient and non-pushy way. The final cost was fair and below the estimate. All work was done efficiently and in a timely manner. The guys went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that repairs were done well, done right, and everything was running properly before they left. I had started that morning in tears of frustration. I ended the day in tears of thankfulness! Long story short, I had a different plumber say my gas pipe to my water heater was blocked and it would cost (a lot), to reroute the gas pipes. I called Herk's plumbing because one of our facility bathrooms was clogged. They told me that they could get someone out between 1-3 which was fine with me. Apparently the guy who was supposed to come out to my house for the in home quote called in sick. So Mr. Herk's son came out to my house. He came in, was quick professional, told me he could fix the problem that day in just a few minutes. He ran to the local hardware store near my house, fixed the issue quickly and was on his way. My main line between the house and the street was clogged. They came out and used this amazing jetting system to cut the roots that were causing the blockage. This was not a jet and run operation. This is now my second time using Herk's plumbing and I can't say enough good things about these guys. PGE shut my gas off on a Saturday afternoon due to a small gas leak. Herks showed up 10 min after PGE left to get an overview of the job and were back here bright and early SUNDAY morning to get it done. YIKES - MY 35+ Y.O. FEMALE TENANT MADE THE PLUMBER UNCOMFORTABLE! - Minus Stars if possible and this is probably the only bad review this guy has received. Just goes to show... I had a problem in Turlock in early July, they did go out that same day, but apparently my tenant who has PTSD scared the plumber, he told her the leak had to do with the tile not being caulked. The tenant asked him to put some plastic over it till I could get someone else out. We caulked the tile and there was no problem until this morning, apparently the water leaking UNDER the tub from the drain did not build up again for 3 weeks! When I called "Herk" he told me that the tenant was upset and scared his plumber, that he "Felt Uncomfortable" and would not be able to stay there. All he had to do was go outside AWAY from her and check the access hole (2' x 2') and see the standing water under the tub. I wish I could post the photo my plumber who was on a well-deserved vacation sent today - there is about 3" of Standing WATER under the tub. read more

Friendly guys, quick service and potentially reasonable prices. So why not more stars? Two reasons: 1) they installed a wall mounted sink for us and the end result is a sink that is not quite level. Admittedly I have never installed a wall mounted sink, but it seems that the backing they added behind the sheetrock wasn't done properly. 2) after we'd accepted their bid and they started working (indeed, they were nearly done) they had us sign that they'd warned us against using a wall mount with children. I don't have a problem with signing such a thing, but the timing was wrong - it should have been done upfront. As it happened it felt like it didn't turn out how they wanted and they decided to absolve themselves of responsibility. In short, I'd consider using them again, but not to install a wall mounted sink. read more

We called Herk's Plumbing because we had water and other residue coming out of our walk-in shower, kitchen sink and leaking behind the washer. They were a little late, but spent more time at another job site. They apologized for being late and we accepted and moved forward. The guy arrived and he was friendly and provided great customer service. He knew exactly what was wrong and went to work right away. It ended up being out clean out line being backed up. This was the worst experience my husband And I have ever had. We have used Herks in the past. We were happy. We had them Install a water filter and water softener for our house. That was fine. When we called them after ordering new filters (we order them). They installed the softener in the filter and the filter in the softener.Backwards . (At $125 for them to install them). We didn't notice this until we went to order Again 6 months later we ordered new filters for both. Explained what we noticed. No comment was made. Well it was after the fact so we just paid closer attention when this time. Before the filters were put in they mentioned it would be $400.00. what I can't pay that for 15 minutes of work so he picked up his tools and left. My husband called the office they said yes. Due to rising gas costs. WHAT. $275.00 more for gas I don't think so. They did not tell us the cost went up. read more
