Okay, the branch looks run down and the employees aren't the most chipper but they had plenty of staff there to help and I was able to walk in sign docs, get my vehicle and leave in under 10 minutes. On top of that, they gave me a stellar vehicle...thought I signed up for a Nissan Pathfinder and they pulled out front with a 2020 Armada, very loaded. I hope this branch stays open and hopefully add some paint, flooring and dimmer lighting...thought I stepped into a 1970's K-Mart when i first walked in, lol. PS. I reserved a car online only for them to leave a message the morning that I was going to pick up the car saying they were out of cars and had been for the past week. What a waste of everyone's time and my money! It's negligent and rude to allow customers to reserve cars you don't have available. When I called to verify that the message was not a scam, they confirmed it, but their only solution was to go to another Hertz 1hr and 45mins away. I asked if they had any agreements in place with local rental companies for when these events occur since their closest sister company was so far away and he said "No, on account of that I work for Hertz." Unhelpful, sassy, rude, and a waste of everyone's time. Now I have 5 hours to rent elsewhere and just accept whatever price is available. Then I realized I could hear the car beeping from the street. I walked back to the street and found the car. Drove off and got it home. I noticed paper receipt in the window. I rent a decent amount of cars... I'm "president's circle" in their little membership rewards program... so I'm familiar with hertz. I don't know what is happening, but I made a reservation and scheduled pickup at the body shop (my truck was hit and was scheduled to be repaired). Foolishly instead of using enterprise where the car would be waiting for me, I chose to use what I know... hertz. I asked that I get a callback to confirm it would in fact be possible to get picked up (because on the booking line they were unable to reach this office). I tried for days to call and confirm and never once got through. On the day of the appointment I got a text with a number to call when I was at the body shop and ready for pickup, so I did. It does to the corporate line and as you select prompts it slowly navigated me to the local office where it rings for about 20 seconds and then disconnects. So here I sit, a 75 min drive from home, unable to drop my truck off for repairs due to hertz gross incompetence. Do I now cancel my scheduled upcoming rentals with hertz for work travel starting in 4 days and laid on for the next couple months and start over with enterprise or another company? It is literally impossible to get a single member of the company on the phone right now. Wildly unacceptable. read more

Terrible experience. I was forced to use Hertz because of a car accident--this was the only option the other party's insurance gave me. I picked up the rental, and it had an empty gas tank. I went back inside and reported it right away. The staff said they already knew and that it was "documented." Fast forward to today--I find out they charged my card $48 for a full tank of gas I never used. I contacted corporate and thankfully got a refund, but this never should've happened. The local Hertz office is shady, the employees have an attitude, and they will try to cheat you if you're not careful. Before the owner replies with his standard "we're so sorry" template, spare me the BS and start being ethical. If you rent from here, document EVERYTHING--take photos of the gas gauge, mileage, and every inch of the car. I won't be using Hertz again, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Dropped off a car and they said they would get me a lift back to my hotel. Unfortunately they got my phone number wrong and I sat there for 20 minutes until they asked me if I got a ride text and I told them no. So they said they would fix it but they were closing so they asked me to wait outside. I stood in the 90° weather for a half hour waiting for the car, and then I went back and they we're closed and I had to bang on the window and they invited me back in and then they disappeared into the place and didn't come out for almost 10 minutes so I just walked out and got my own Uber. DON'T RENT HERE- THEY LIE! I saw the negative reviews and thought they must be isolated incidents. So, I rented. When I went in, there were a few frustrated people waiting for cars they reserved that were not there. The gentleman (nice kid) told me my car would be there soon. I rented a mid-size SUV. What appeared was a vehicle much smaller than my crossover. I looked at the car- which was incredible basic in features (rod to pull seat forward on driver's side- knobs for radio- very plastic) and there was no other choice. That or a make-shift pickup. I agreed to take the vehicle and immediately upon getting it home, my son (21) insisted that I take a video of all the hail damage on the car. Thank GOD I did. The 'check oil soon' lights were on, as were the low washer fluid. fine. I found a parking ticket underneath the windshield wiper from 2 days before I rented the vehicle. I put it in the glove box. It was obvious this car had been not taken care of. Whatever. I use it for the week and am eager to return it. When I return it- same thing- room full of upset people- workers standing in the back talking to someone in the back room- laughing and having a great time. I mention to the same kid that there is a parking ticket from July 7 in glovebox and there was damage before I took the car. He agrees. Says it was noted when returned by previous retner. I leave the keys and am happy the experience is over. A week later- they send me a questionnaire about the damage to the vehicle. The vehicle that I confirmed - twice- was damaged before I got it- and that I have video proof of being present when I drove off site. This is a sham of a site and should be investigated by Hertz. The entire experience is shady. I rent cars very often- 10+ times per year and have for 20 years. I have never, ever had the experience of a damaged car, of complete lack of care for the vehicle, or of a parking ticket sitting for 3 days before I picked up the car. Hertz has tied its name to something terrible here. Rent at your own risk, and, whatever you do- video everything! read more

DO NOT USE THEM AS A RENTAL SERVICE Multiple charges on my account after it was settled with my insurance and no call on notice from them pertaining to the charges. Elijah the manager lied directly to us and contradicted almost all the reasons he listed why we were charged and our account was closed without notice to us. I was told that we would get a call from the district manager and after asking for their information to make a complaint Elijah said their information was private and we would be receiving a call from the district manager within a few days. They gave me a loner until it comes in, later that day I find out they don't even have what I reserved and they are " trying to find one " the whole time trying to talk me into a different vehicle . Then I was called and said they found one and it would be faster to have it brought to the location instead of me going to get it . I show up at the time I was told only to find out it's not here yet . My original reservation was for 730 am it's now 430 and still no vehicle . This is unacceptable. Well, it seems everyone has had the same experience we had at this place. We booked a car over the phone with a Hertz agent and confirmed a car was available at that location. When we arrived, the front desk told us they didn't have a car and to drive 40 min to DFW. She also said, the system can't tell how many cars a location has. Uhhh... what? How do you run a rental car company and have no idea how many cars your satellites have? So, I guess the computers are just for looks? Perhaps we should go back to telling time with sun dials if that's the case? This was 100% BS, because we just listened to her give the customer in front of us several different options. i looked at various car rentals before deciding on Hertz. Their price was approximately $225 online. By the time I left the rent counter it was over $600! I was assured $200 was a refundable damage deposit that wou be credited if vehicle was returned with no damage. Vehicle was filthy inside & out. No credit was ever applied. My previous experience with Hertz made my future rental experiences that much simpler. Don't go to Hertz in the first place- no problems! I will say that the only part that wasn't a total disappointment would be that the actual rental vehicle I received was a newer make and model Mustang. Even had the 'new car smell'. No damage on interior nor exterior. THAT BEING SAID... the standard of cleanliness and in general is what I as a customer EXPECT every time I spend the money that I do on a rental vehicle. Hertz effortlessly dropped the ball completely in every other possible way. I'm not sure how their employees are able to maintain employment because not a single Hertz personnel I spoke to treated me or carried themselves as a professional. Zero customer service. Not my problem. The lady who helped me get a rental and the gentleman who drove me to pick it up were virtually model employees. The man who took my call the other day was completely unhelpful though: unable to reach the insurance adjuster authorizing my rental, I called the local hertz location, as hertz had suggested if I found myself in this situation. The man who answered was unabashedly unhelpful, like it wasn't his problem to try to help a customer. The absolute worst experience in my car rental history with anyone! I made a reservation online at the HERTZ Downtown Fort Worth, Texas location. Upon arrival, I was told they didn't have the car I rented available. I had to cancel my trip. This was last Friday, September 13, 2024. I called today to try to make a reservation for this weekend and to ask if they would offer me a discount since I had to cancel my trip the week before since THEY didn't have my car. The lady said I would need a discount code to get a discount. How can I give a discount code that I do not have? I felt they owed me some kind of discount so I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said that he would only tell me the same thing and refused to connect me to him. I have not seen my son since 2018 and was very disappointed that I could not go. Yeah this place needs some major improvements. It all started with me booking a car online and pre-paying for it online so all i had to do was check-in and sign some papers and done. Well that did not go well. I schedule the car pick up for 1.30pm and i ended up arriving around 1.50pm(whatever no big deal). When i got to the location there was only one person working the counter and she was helping a customer at the time i arrived. She was able to help me 10 minutes after arriving. First off she was not dressed for the job, she was wearing sweat pants, flip flops and a t-shirt with a stain on it. It looked like she just rolled out of bed. Ok so we get the paperwork going and she asked for my credit card to put down a deposit.. ok sure so i give her my debit card. She swipes it and it gets decline... i am in shocked because there is more than enough to cover the deposit for the rental. So she tries again and it gets a decline, so at this point, i get on the phone with my bank to try and figure out what is going on. As i am on the phone there are 2 more customers that come into the office trying to get their rentals picked up. At the same time, the lady helping me gets a phone call from a customer who is asking what time his complimentary pick-up driver will pick him up from home. I remember seeing that online, when you rent a car from them they have complimentary pick up service and i was like 'oh that nice of them and it must be convenient for those with no time to waste' but the lady responded poorly and kinda rude to the guy on the other side of the phone. She was the only person working and could not leave the desk and therefor the complimentary pick-up service was not available. This is where the problems with them started, the lady from my bank told me my card was approved for the deposit from the car place but the lady who was helping me at the car place said her computer was not showing my card as being approved. This was frustrating because it went on for 45 minutes! At this point, i was not even sure i was gonna get my rental for the day and it would put me behind schedule for my entire trip! Then the lady at the car placed decided to try and call the corporate number that overviews the security deposit transactions to see what could be done. Well, they had her on hold for about 30 minutes and another 15 minutes bouncing here around from person to person till they finally found someone to help with this issue. At this point, the lobby has about 8 total customers who have been waiting to be helped, the longest about an hour now! The rep who was helping the lady over the phone had a code that would bypass this whole situation and allow me to finish the paperwork and get my rental. When the lady behind the desk tried to put in this code it would not let her! It seems the computer system that they were using is out of date and would not let her input it. After almost an hour she ended up swiping my card again and therefore being charged again. It went thru and i was able to finish my paperwork to get my car rental. She did mention that it would all be refunded after i return the car so that was good but still... it should not have been like that. I went on another location to drop off the car and this experience was a lot shorter compared to the first one. This time there was a different lady behind the desk who dress more appropriatly for the job. She was nice but once again she was the only one working the location and it took me about 20 minutes to just return my keys and get my closing paperwork. Overall I would go with another location if possible but this is the only location opened on sunday. read more

Unfortunately when I arrived their systems were down, but they kept their professionalism and were able to get it resolved right away. Got me equipped with the nicest Tahoe!! The camp bowie location is running me around. They charge me $150 a week after I returned my car. I asked them what happened, said I return on the 31st of December. Funny thing me and my wife dropped off on the 30th together. They Charged me for that and on top of that. Hertz at 917 Taylor St Fort Worth is the absolute worst! The lack of professionalism of the team members and the wait time to rent and return vehicles is unacceptable. There was one lady who appeared to know what she was doing and came out of the office to help. The young man who sits in the first station is rude and will talk down to customers and will mumble about his coworkers. This is definitely not a good reflection of Fort Worth. I would like to give 0 stars. THEY BREACHED THE RENTAL AGREEMENT CONTRACT. I booked a car at 9am on-line for a good rate. I normally don't like to rent from this office because they are super slow. But the rate was good. I showed up at 1.30pm to pick up the midsize car and the rude person at the counter told me they did not have my preferred size cars. Apparently all had been rented a week ago. They had a suv and pickup cars. They offered them to me for 30-40$ extra. When I said that I would not pay more, they told me they don't honor reservations unless they are done 24h in advance. This condition is nowhere found in the reservation documents, she made it up. Hertz customer service talked to them but nobody fixed the problem. So beware: don't make your reservations online or make them with at least a week ahead. Apparently hertz is not capable of updating their availability. The rudeness of the staff at Taylor street was unbelievable. read more

This specific location was great. Chastitye was an amazing help sorting credit card info out when I came in to pick up the car, and she remembered me by name when I dropped it off a week later! That being said, I DESPISE Hertz, and I will NEVER EVER rent from them again. I would rather walk barefoot, in the dark, down a back alley with used syringes laying on the ground, rather than depend on Hertz for my transportation needs. I have used them twice in my life, and both times have been absolutely terrible. The first time, I was literally in route, to pick up my already reserved rental, when they called and told me they didn't have any cars! They sent me to another location with the promise of plenty of vehicles, only to arrive, and no cars to be had. Two hours of my life wasted, and Enterprise ended up saving the day. This time, due it being picked up on a Saturday at closing time (12:00pm?!), I was handed the keys and the employees locked up and left. The electronic switch to move the driver seat forward was broken, so, being 5 ft tall on a good day, I literally had to drive home sitting at the edge of the seat, and driving with my foot pointed at all times, since it was raining and I couldn't use cruise control. The van was also dirty, had broken plastic in the back that snagged several of our bags, and it smelled like a vintage ash tray. I spent HOURS on the phone with "customer service" (who was located in the Philippines) and they kept apologizing but literally offering no help or resolutions at all! I explained I could not drive 13 hours for vacation without being able to comfortably reach the accelerator, on top of the other complaints. The only choice they gave me was to drive to the airport (over an hour away 1 way, in rush hour, Friday evening traffic) and SEE if the Hertz there had anything available, but the rates would be doubled!! Could never get Hertz at the airport to answer the phone, and we were leaving at 2:30am, so literally a few hours from when this was happening. In the end, my brother in law came over,and messed with the seat enough to get me to reach the accelerator without having to tie a brick to the bottom of my foot. If negative stars were available, that is what I would give Hertz. They and their "customer service" are terrible!! Don't waste your time or money....go somewhere else. Or, walk barefoot! read more

I usually don't write reviews BUT. Hertz is the absolute worst company of any kind that I have ever dealt with. Two reservations, no cars. When I finally did get a car, it was so filthy I literally could not see out of the windows. At the end of my rental, I was told the office was opened until 6:00 PM. After leaving work early I arrived to turn the car in and was met by a sign on the door stating we close at 4:30 PM. After this fiasco I made arrangements to drop the car off at the shop where my car was fixed at. Almost two weeks later the car still sat there, and the owner of the shop actually called them numerous times saying he needed the parking space and threatened to charge them storage. I got numerous calls from the corporate office saying the car was past due and each time I explained to them what happened, and I had been trying to contact the Fort Worth office on numerous occasions, about them picking up the car. Even when I was standing in the office getting my rental I stood there and listened to the phone ring, and they wouldn't answer it. They continued to charge my card after the car was turned in and I am still trying to get this straightened out. Word of advice use Enterprise. I will walk before I use Hertz again! read more

I will unfortunately have to echo other yelp reviewers that renting a car from this Hertz is usually a sub par experience. I have rented multiple cars from this location and the issues are numerous... dirty car (not vacuumed), tank not full of gas, trying to get someone to answer the phone, car is not ready, late picking me up from a nearby body shop. Most employees have been fairly friendly so I am adding one star for that. read more
