I had a great experience here at this dealership this past weekend and was finally able to close on a beautiful 2025 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Premium Edition in Rhodium White. After performing countless hours of research and watching a TON of POV videos on YouTube, I strongly settled on a Mazda even though I had bad experiences with this brand in the past. 90s Mazda's were horrendous due to their ill-fated partnership with Ford Motors (bad transmissions, etc.) so I stayed away from Mazda for over 30 years. Mazda has become a brand of its own in the last decade after it's separation from Ford restoring quality back to its lineup. CX-5 is no exception. Due to its Japanese-built reliability, quality materials chosen, simplistic design and ownership satisfaction, I went with this model over its other Japanese-branded rivals. I contacted many dealerships around the greater Portland area as well as dealerships as far down as Eugene and none of those places had the color and model I was looking for in their inventories. The current introduction of the 2026 models were soon approaching so the trim level I was looking for in particular were becoming scarce. The video reviews of the 2026 model were a big disappointment and practical turn-off due to the new design changes. I continued to check dealer inventories and that's when I discovered the trim I was looking for was still in stock at Herzog-Meier. They had 2 turbo's in white left in stock. After my inquiry, I was contacted by a young man by the name of Brody Heath. Brody was quick to respond through text messages followed up by some emails. What impressed me the most was the personal video that Brody created for me first introducing himself, the vehicle I was interested in and summarizing some of the important features of the vehicle. Brody went outside in the cold and shot the video for me on the same day I contacted him which I found to be commendable. The short video he created for me was quite impressive. 2 days or so later I made arrangements to visit Brody and test drive the vehicle. Upon our arrival at the dealership, the vehicle was parked waiting for me in their customer parking space and on the dashboard my name was printed on a bright-green placard. Immediately I felt welcomed to the dealership. Brody came out to meet us and we soon were off on the test drive and answered all my questions along with my daughters questions who happened to be tagging along with me. This all happened past sunset and we did a night test drive. Brody is the coolest guy you will ever meet. Very polite and respectful and always called me sir, very positive and always smiling! I told Brody that I would think about the car for a few days. After a few days go by, I decided to go back and re-test drive the car but this time during the daytime. After the test drive, I settled all my doubts on the vehicle and decided to move forward with the deal. I ended up with a little more than the deal that I wanted partly because I opted for the additional 7yr, 100K mile warranty which everyone knows is the dealerships way of recouping but nonethless the warranty is pro-rated if I decide to sell the vehicle. I found the price to be reasonable given that I've had to spending out of my own pocket on vehicle repairs in the past. This provided a little peace of mind but to each their own. (I do want to point out that my only negative was the $299 'vehicle theft' charge on my paperwork that seemed to be just tacked on there without any explanation that I didn't see until I was signing papers to pay for the car. I should have made them take that charge off as I didn't ask for it and it wasn't disclosed before signing. Still a little peeved about that in an otherwise great experience--this was not from Tyson in sales but in another department.) I purchased my first ever new car after many years of only buying used cars. My son had such a great experience with his Mazda2 Hatchback - with the dealership and its service department and with the car itself, as it's been a great car - that I decided on a Mazda3 Hatchback too. When I entered the dealership, Tyson greeted me with a smile and offer to help, and I felt immediately at ease. I didn't have that feeling that he was going to be a high pressure sales person and to my relief, I was right! After looking at the cars there and doing a couple of test drives, I actually decided on a color that wasn't available at Herzog - however, they found my red Mazda3 Hatchback Preferred trim at another dealership and had it transported there. It's beautiful! During all the process of trying to decide, then finding the car and waiting for it to arrive, Tyson kept me updated via text. He quickly answered any question or concern I had. Day of purchase, he showed me everything in the car and how it works so I'm be familiar. Tyson's calm, friendly but professional demeanor helped a lot to take away my nerves. I'm very pleased with the entire process. I will also say that the dealership is very clean, bright, and everyone I had contact with was friendly, professional, and helpful. I've been a loyal customer at this dealership for years--bought my last car here and always brought it in for service. Greg in the service department has always been amazing, and he's the reason I'm giving even one star. He's professional, trustworthy, and someone I've always appreciated working with. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Renze, on the sales team, was deeply disappointing. I was in the market for a new vehicle (seriously considering a 2020 Subaru Outback they had for sale), and after some back-and-forth, it became clear that transparency and customer loyalty don't seem to mean much here. The sales process felt like a game. Among other things, they tacked on a $250 "processing fee" that felt completely bogus, and their offer on my trade-in was $500 less than what CarMax offered me. This was frustrating, considering I've been a long-time customer who's spent years trusting this dealership for my automotive needs. On top of that, Renze refused to budge on the price of the vehicle I was interested in, even after I made a fair counteroffer. I left feeling like my loyalty and history with the dealership didn't matter to them at all. I won't be returning here for future purchases, which is disappointing given the positive experiences I've had in the past with the service department. Greg deserves all the praise, but the sales team has lost my trust. Updated response to Sean T. below (for clarity): The Subaru was originally listed at $1,000 over market value (per Edmunds, a widely trusted industry resource). Then it was reduced by that same $1,000, and I was told it was "just reduced" -- when in reality, it was simply brought down to where it should have been all along. Next, my offer -- according to Edmunds -- was a great offer and well within the car's actual worth. And let's talk about processing fees. It's no secret in the industry that these are just another way to squeeze extra money from customers. Just because they're "legal" doesn't mean you should tack them on for a loyal customer buying a used car. Then there's the trade-in offer. CarMax offered me $21,000. You claimed to work directly with CarMax-- yet somehow, your offer was $500 less? How does that make sense? Not a trustworthy dealership - they increased the price AFTER we had agreed on one and I put down a deposit for a car that was in transit. The Sales Consultant (Layal Maysi) also tried to slip the price increase into the paperwork without telling me, presumably hoping I wouldn't notice. We had agreed to an "out the door" price in writing via email, on a specific VIN number, before I put down a deposit. The price we agreed to was itemized and included the sale price, DMV fees, doc fees, and taxes based on the address where I would be registering the car (I provided my home address prior to getting this quote). When the car arrived on the lot approximately 2 weeks later, I drove 3.5 hours to pick it up. After I arrived, they refused to honor the price, claiming there were additional taxes I had to pay. I paid cash for the car and did not trade one in, so the price increase was not related to financing fees, trade-in values, or any other subjective items. They simply increased the price. This dealership also glued the temporary plate to the rear window rather than tape it. The glue ripped off the rear window defroster lines when I tried to remove it, so I will have to get that repaired. read more

I bought my CX-5 here a few years back (gotta love that heads-up display!), but for the last month, the numbers on my dash have slowly been counting down the miles, telling me that it's to take it back in for one of the scheduled routine services that's due. Fortunately it was the lovely Miss Angela who answered the phone, and she graciously and expertly addressed all 152 of my questions without hesitation or the even a hint of irritation in her voice. Note: if she was if fact irritated, she didn't let on in the slightest and is certainly missing her calling in Hollywood - so in that case, someone book this gal a one way ticket to LA and sign her with an agent, stat! But long story short, Angela took a call that I have been dreading for weeks, and made it completely painless. She even helped to talk me through what steps would be involved in securing a potential loner vehicle while my car is being worked on as well. So thank you, for all your help (and patience), Angela. Wade Norris was a fabulous salesperson. I tested the CX30 (which felt too small) and CO50 (which felt bigger than I wanted). Wade sensed my hesitation and suggested the CX5 which turned out to be just right. There was never any pressure to get me to buy or to upsell me with features I didn't want, which was not true of other dealerships I visited. Wade just wanted me to have the car I wanted. He answered all my questions before I bought the car and has continued to answer them either by text on in person since I've bought the car. We negotiated a trade in very smoothly. He also showed me some of the features when I picked up my car. The heavy Asian guy working at the front desk needs some training on how to greet and interact with customers. When I walked in I was greeted in the most aggressive way by him and he didn't even smile. I ask if I could get my car serviced and he was overall rude with the way he replied and talked to me in the most condescending way. It is not enjoyable to be greeted by someone who seems like they dont really want to help at you and is just there to get paid. The lady who I was on the phone with to make an appointment to come in and get my car serviced was also rude. Everyone else though seemed very friendly and helpful. read more

I went here after having a horrible experience at Toyota of Wilsonville. This place has the most used vehicles, which odd what I was looking for. I'd been though a lot the past couple of weeks so I knew what I wanted and was looking for by this point. I text drove the Mazda CX-5 and loved it!! I wasn't looking too but a new car but the price of the new car was $2k more than a used car. What that says is that they do hold their value!! boyfriend has a Mazda MPV van with over 220k miles on it and it still runs, so don't let anyone tell you Mazda's don't hold their value!! Thomas was the sales guy and he was a low key guy. I really liked his approach and care that he gave to me. He was busy with other folks, and I had No problem waiting. I loved how the Mazda cat drove, all the features that the Rav 4 didn't have, and I just felt overall more comfortable in the vehicle. I love Mazda's though!! Thomas was the sales guy and there was a finance guy as well. I preferred that because the finance guy went line by line over what I was signing. Thomas took great care to show me the features of the car, and both of them were friendly, thoughtful, detail oriented, patient, and made me feel confident in my purchase there. I felt taken care of. Their level of customer service far exceeds anywhere else that I've been to. Mazda has an amazing 10-year service agreement you can opt into as well. I also added an optional maintenance agreement. They gave me time to think on it for it adds on to the overall price. The maintenance agreement was 3 years, but when they saw my hesitancy they were kind and added in a4th Year because they wanted me to feel like it was worth it. So I have no worries for ten years. For the price of the new vehicle and service, it was the same price as they used Rav 4 I has gotten it of at a Toyota dealership. I was not looking to buy a new car, but in the end it made sense. I'd highly recommend this place in particular! No Bull!!! I love right near Mazda of Gladstone, and I'd had a horrible experience there, but this place was awesome! I have visited many dealerships all over the area for buying, selling, and service. Experiences can range from utter shock and disbelief, "Did they just say that? and that? and what the ...really...?" to unyielding apathy (cue gray cloud soliloquy) to stepping-in-poo-would-have-been-better gross negligence to key hostage situations (yes, people still do that) to never coming out of the building unless its a not a drill service. With all that said, I cannot comment on all aspects of the Herog-Meier Mazda experience, only the car buying experience with 1 sales professional. Let's continue. His straightforward and open dialog helped me talk through and understand all my options, which included candid feedback on other brands. There was no pressure from start to finish. He wanted to ensure I was making the right choice, for me. All interactions were light-hearted and comfortable yet professional. And, the icing on the cake, he always came back with answers to my plethora (read with extra emphasis) of questions. Our family visited this location today knowing we needed a car, what we wanted and what we could spend. We were paired with Brody, he mentioned only working there for a year but has been around the business his entire life, and it shows. He made our experience great and quick while still catering to all our needs, and providing some activities for our 2 year old to keep occupied. I had over $2,100 in service and after doing the work, when I went to pay the bill, Herzog Meier Mazda charged me an extra 3% on top of the bill for using a Visa credit card... the tech at the counter said there was nothing he could do about it since it was Corporate policy... Buyer beware. They won't tell you upfront. Pay cash, or pay 3% more on credit card. read more
