This place is super cute! It has a small but sufficient parking lot, and the place is definitely homey and spacious. The owner is just the nicest and most hospitable woman you'll meet. She is friendly and a true delight. Also, the whole experience is just friendly and warm. NICE. There were 13 of us in a group which I DO NOT RECOMMEND because it'll take 5 ever to get your food because there's not a lot of people making sandwiches. Whoops. Our mistake. That being said, the sandwiches are tasty and a pretty reasonable price for what it is, and the bread is QUITE good. About half the people got the Mongolian beef sandwich, which looked GREAT, and the rest of us got things like the pastrami, the Ruben, turkey cranberry, and chicken salad. We were all very happy and content, after realizing it might take a while to get stuff out. Overall, a rock solid choice if you're in the area. I love this place. The kindest couple works and runs the little gem and they're simply delightful to talk to. I love the eclectic look to the place since there is plenty of history within those walls The food alone is amazing! They bake their own bread and it's all from scratch, it's that good! I work at a camp up the mountain and when I'm on my way home I grab a hot sandwhich from them on my way ( get the Reuben! It's my favorite!). Plus they have musical instruments to play while you're waiting! All in all this place is a favorite of mine! Go check it out! read more

I came with my girlfriend and her dog on our way back to LA from palm springs. They were very inviting and friendly. They brought us out water for our dog without even asking. I love coming to Heska's. The place is definitely a hole in the wall, but those are the best! They have really good sandwiches. Their tuna melt is mouth wateringly delightful. I've lived nearby this cute hole in the wall for quite some time but just recently decided to try it out. I walked in and immediately felt welcomed. That was until I noticed a Trump 2020 sticker and a recall Gavin Newsom petition on the table. The customer service was good and they wore masks but I was completely thrown off by political affiliation of this place. I want to like this place so badly and I was hoping to have found a new coffee spot, but I just can't support a business that stands for hate. Truly sad. read more

I can't vouch for the food here because I've only been for coffee and hanging out, but it's an adorable little place to chill with some friends and games. I want to go back for a live music night. My only real issue with Heska's is that I forget that it's there unless I'm heading up 38. It's a tucked-away little spot in a tucked-away little part of the IE (which is part of it's charm, but also why I haven't been back often). I actually like their food and their drinks. They are getting 2 stars because 1. They are way too expensive for a little hole-in-the-wall place in mentone,CA. Are you the most expensive place to eat in MENTONE? I mean I paid $9 for a tiny baby muffin and a large chai tea. What?! Starbucks is cheaper then that. A half a sandwich/iced tea/small salad is going to be $10. And it's not like the portions are big. 2. I'm sorry but my biggest pet peeve is when people open late or close early when online it says their hours. When you google heskas it says they are open at 6am. I got there at 645 and they were closed today. That is horrible costumer service and I woke up early for nothing. Thank goodness Starbucks is opening a block away that will be my new place from now on. read more

I've been going to Heskas for years. They recently moved to this location and I am very impressed. Only problem is that I don't live in Redlands any more! The new "Sugar Shack" location is fantastic. They did a great job decorating the interior, and there is no lack of seating inside. The food is as good as it always was, and now they make breakfast sandwiches, which are some of the best I've ever had. Heska is a sweetheart - Even though its several months between visits, she always remembers my name and that i went to U of R. I make a point to always visit when I'm in town for Alumni events. Whenever I have driven by this place, it never looked appealing, but after reading the Yelp reviews... I had to give it a try. I am beyond happy I did! The interior is clean, warm, and inviting. It makes you feel like you are at a family member's house. Service matches the experience. We were treated like honored guests and really loved all the employees. We ordered the soup of the day (cream of broccoli), Greek salad with chicken, and a blt sandwich. There wasn't a morsel left! Their bread is AMAZING! Baked fresh daily, and perfection. Soup was fresh, creamy and full of flavor. Greek salad was made with crisp mixed greens, high quality meat, fresh olives, perfectly dressed with dressing and feta cheese. My guest said the BLT was the best she had ever tasted! I couldn't have asked for a better lunch on a rainy day. We will surely come here again ( especially when they have the potato cheese soup on Tuesdays). read more
