    Cafe de Olla

On a weekday afternoon, HI NRG was crowded with people studying/working and other customers enjoying free coffee samples from a visiting distributor. After waiting around five minutes in line, I tried their cafe de olla, and it was excellent! It was warm, comforting, and perfectly spiced. The cinnamon flavor came through without being overpowering, and the drinks were on the smaller size served in unique glass cups. Even though the cups were small, the quality of the drink showed. Would definitely come back to try this strong caffeinated drink again along with some of their other unique offerings!

Loved the vibes here and how spacious the interior is with high ceilings and a ton of natural lighting! I've been wanting to check out Hi NRG after seeing it being praised on a lot of top coffee shop in SF lists and came by close to closing time on a Saturday. Luckily since people were filing out we were able to order quickly and grabbed a seat for a bit. The menu is simple as they really let their beans speak for themselves. I opted for an oat cappuccino which was super smooth and well-balanced. The baristas are so nice as well and the overall experience was exceptional! I'll definitely need to find time to come on a weekday so I can enjoy the space for longer! Also, I didn't realize walking in that in the evenings, the space turns into High Treason which I've actually been to before for after dinner drinks.

Visited HI NRG while I was in the area and had a great experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the cafe itself is super cute with a really cozy ambience. I ordered an iced latte and thought the coffee quality was excellent, though the drink size was a bit small. Overall, definitely a cute spot to check out if you're in the Richmond area!

    | Friday March 13, 2026 | I love the name of the place so we decided to come and check it out; plus my bf needed coffee It's @hightreasonsf at night but @hinrg_sf by day! Biscuit by @vinegary_personality I got the cafe de olla cinnamon cappuccino for $6 and Steve got the pour over for $8. There was only like 2 people ahead of us luckily and grateful that they went over the options i.e background info and a sample despite the handful of people behind us. The baristas were hella chill and friendly. Walking distance from our spot but drove just in case there was a long line and luckily we're able to score a parking spot right out front! We got our drinks togo since I had a busy morning of emails but we were able to enjoy our drinks for a little bit and this yummy biscuit that was the last one while they prepared the pour over. The drinks only come in one size so I do wish they came bigger. It was cool that they had vinyl for sale which luckily for our piggy bank we didn't see anything.

10/10 amazing. This is your place if you don't like sugar drinks and instead let the coffee shine through for you. I have been coming since they opened this permanent pop-up. I find myself here everyday if not every week. I usually get an Americano as of late but my usual drink is a cortado, the batch coffee is also great. The owners are great as well and will help guide you to the right coffee.

I'm here for the vibes. The aesthetics are nice with music and high ceilings. The decor is pretty cool. I appreciate the thought that went into designing the art and what I mean by that are the wine crates posted against the wall. They're pretty nifty to look at. The coffee was standard, but not special. Overall, it was a chill experience and I recommend dropping in.

Olla coffee: 5/5 smooth espresso, perfectly sweet just to wish it came with more Iced latte: 5/5 so smooooth perfect roast. I'm salivating rn Beautiful wine bar with open seating--even during cafe hours. the baristas are so fun to talk to and live DJ was sick. Had a great time here. Tip: come on a Sunday late morning early afternoon and walk through the Richmond farmers market. It's huge!

Coffee is amazing! Baristas are so friendly and knowledgeable! If you're not sure about the flavor profile of the roast or have any q's don't hesitate to ask. Space is beautiful and full of light. They have someone playing records and there's lots of seating. It can definitely get crowded on the weekends. Lines are long but it moves quick.

Walking in San Francisco you are bound to run into a coffee shop. There is always an establishment with different types of coffees from all over the world. Whether it's the International Coffee Festival or the local mom and pops coffee shop it seems coffee brings people together throughout the day. One place which helps energize people during the day and brings a different vibe and different type of energy is HI NRG. Back on a San Francisco Summer stroll also known as early Autumn there is a place which has a unique vibe for a coffee shop in the area. Step in Hi NRG during the day ( High Treason in the evening)and it feels you are stepped into day club without the dancing and people are just vibing among themselves. You will see lots of wine bottles and wine crates along with turntables ,vinyl records , and art pieces on the wall. It feels like an art gallery opening .They have a minimalist coffee menu so I tried the Iced Cafe de Olla. It was strong coffee and it was tasty. I only wished they offered a bigger cup because after I drank it I thought I had a hole in my cup because it was gone after three sips. Overall a good place to enjoy a coffee or some wine. Come alone or come with your "tribe "which you feel the "vibe" which is kind of hard to "describe"they have a wine club via High Treason which on a month to month basis you can "subscribe" On Clement street you will see a HI NRG "sign " inside where they "combine " and "intertwine " both both offerings of coffee and " wine"

THE best in the bay. Period. I could wax on and on truly, but it really is up to you. If you are truly a coffee connoisseur this is the place to go. No question.

They always have unique and tasty food options: today cheddar and chive scone and an almond cake The coffee menu remains the same, with my favorite being the cafe de olla: their only sweetened drink. It's not very sweet which is why I love it because I don't have to modify it to half sweet because it's already perfect. IF YOU'RE NOT A COFFEE ELITE, AND ADD HALF & HALF AND SUGAR TO YOUR COFFEE: DO NOT COME HERE. They serve serious coffee, with coffee being the flavor which I so enjoy. The also have some beans for sale in the space. I've never been to high treason at night and love the sunlights in the space. Luis and Nathan always provide the best of service. I've been following these cats since their days at the coffee movement and they've done such an amazing job with their business and clientele so far. Today I came in for a cupping experience and loved meeting other coffee nerds. 10/10 would bring everyone and their mamas here.

You can tell they take their coffee very seriously here. I got an iced Cafe de Olla and the flavor was insane! It was $6. The cups are all quite flat and fat (less milk?) The music is VERY loud, so it's not too conducive to working. The interior is very cool though and beautiful! Super long line the whole morning and afternoon.

I quite like what High Treason has done with their versatile wine bar space. I was here a while ago for the tasty kimchi fried rice they continue to serve in the afternoons as a Hawaiian pop-up called Unco Frank's (review: https://yelp.to/yVSLLvexLN). I was only in the neighborhood early Saturday morning because I was having my car serviced nearby and had time to stroll a mostly shuttered Clement Street. I just happened to walk by when the young staff was putting out their signage and setting up for business. I guess I was their first customer. The friendly barista had time to explain their menu and a bit of their back story. Delectable baked goods were being put out on display, but I had the wherewithal to avoid them and order the $6 Cafe de Olla, a genuine treat in a small clay cup with cinnamon and piloncillo (Photo 7). It had a nice, mellow Latin vibe. I was amazed how quickly the space filled up. In about 15 minutes, all the tables and counters were occupied, and there was a growing queue of obvious regulars. Gee, did I accidentally land upon the morning 'it' spot in the Richmond? Sure felt like it. COFFEE - 5 stars...the Cafe de Olla was a soothing cappuccino AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...the stylish High Treason vibe worked well with their menu SERVICE - 5 stars...friendly...I think he was one of the owners TOTAL - 5 stars...a great reason to come back early in the morning RELATED - Exploring the Richmond? It is tucked away and a bit inconspicuous, so be sure to keep an eye out if you decide to come over here. Since it is near the park, parking is difficult, and taking Muni would be best. The store itself is small, with two tightly packed tables for seating, and the order counter is surrounded by delicious-looking pastries, giving it a homey vibe. I went in the afternoon on a weekend, and there was no line at the time. I really needed a caffeine boost, saw this place on Yelp, and decided to try it out. I try my best to order coffees/drinks that are unique to the place so I can try their signatures and form my best judgment. I decided to order the Thai Caffe Banana Latte and saw that it was labeled as blended with bananas. When I went up to the counter, I asked about the consistency of the latte to ensure it was not a creamy blended drink (like a smoothie) but still liquid, like a typical latte. I am unsure if my question was confusing, but it seemed to bother the person serving me that I was asking questions, and they seemed to be getting impatient with me. When they rang me up, I paid, but I forgot to ask for almond milk since I felt rushed while ordering (even though no one else was in the store at the time). I asked if I could still add it in and pay the upcharge or separate fee. They ended up telling me to just tip them the extra $1 in cash or add it to the Square payment as a tip (I gave $2 in cash because I felt bad for inconveniencing them). When I got the drink, the coffee was strong, bold, and not as sweet as I thought it was going to be (which was fine!). Since the original coffee without banana says it has condensed milk, I thought it was going to have more of that sweet note with the banana, but I could be incorrect in assuming it would be sweeter. That said, the banana itself was mashed into the drink, and unfortunately, I did not taste it very much, though I did sip up some banana pieces. Based on the drinks and the service, perhaps this place just is not for me, but I would not tell you to avoid it either. I would recommend trying it yourself to formulate your own thoughts, since maybe my experience was a one-off and the drink I got was not the one that best represents this cafe!

After 2 appointments this morning, I made good on my intention to walk out earlier and get lunch for my father and myself. As I approached, I noticed a group of young men having a friendly gathering after placing their orders. I noticed later that they shared the famous Kaya toast among other things. Poll workers were also enjoying their lunches. Upon entering, I was directed to the menu to the right of the register which had explanations of the bunwiches. Because of a coconut allergy, I asked if the pandesal bun had any coconut. My server asked a coworker, but to be sure he could ask the chef. I decided to order the featured Asparagus Egg Salad Bunwich and the Shrimpwich that a few of the Yelp reviewers said was a must. I found my server to be friendly and respectful which I appreciated. It made me glad that I had paid a visit. While waiting on my bunwiches, I placed an online order through Toast local for the Food for the Gods and Almond Jam Cookies. It said that it would be 15-19 minutes about the time my bunwiches would be ready. My server brought my order in a paper bag with a handle out to me as I was waiting on the bench and even checked a second time that the desserts were packed in the bag. He wished me a good day. I would have to say that I enjoyed the featured Asparagus Egg Salad Bunwich more than the Shrimpwich. The Shrimpwich had a little spice to it that I could not appreciate which my father did. The Shrimpwich has a panko fried shrimp patty, coleslaw with shredded carrots, takuan remoulade, and avocado sauce. I found out that takuan is a Japanese pickle made from Sun-dried and fermented daikon radish and is used as a palate cleanser. The Asparagus Egg Salad Bunwich had asparagus and mushroom kakiage which is a crispy Japanese fritter made by tossing the asparagus, thinly sliced mushrooms, and shredded onions in light tempura batter and deep-frying them together to give an airy fritter with lots of flavor. The Bunwich also has miso mustard sauce, sliced cucumber, and mizuna. I had to look up what mizuna was, too. Mizuna is Japanese mustard greens full of vitamins A, C, and K and the antioxidant lutein (an antioxidant taken in a supplement for age-related macular degeneration). The mizuna was very fresh and green used as baby greens for the Bunwich. The Food for the Gods was food for Dad. It was moist with the ingredients of Medjool dates found in Mediterranean cuisines, toasted walnuts with omega-3 fats, and molasses. I had never had cookies containing umeboshi which I discovered to be a salt-pickled fruit related to the apricot. Umeboshi is salted, often dyed with red perilla leaves, and dried yielding a wrinkled texture. Umeboshi is a superfood in Japanese culture that is used to help digestion and bloating. It contains vitamins A and C and iron. My father loves strawberries and the cookies have a strawberry plum jam. We thoroughly enjoyed having these cookies with our green tea. I would buy these almond jam cookies to share with a friend. I was introduced to a lot of foods that have health benefits. I would be happy to come again.
