4.5/5 I've had my eye on this place for awhile because it's only a few blocks away from home. I was hesitant due to other reviews and decided to take a leap of faith on my own. The space is really cool once you walk in. I felt like I was somewhere else and not in the Richmond District. Very chill and cozy. It's slightly loud, but not to the point where you couldn't work or hold a conversation with someone. There's a decent amount of seating for a small space. Service was awesome. The staff member at the register was helpful in giving his opinion on whether or not my drink should be sweetened and if I should go with the burrito or sandwich. The other staff member who gave me my food later was also very friendly. I love their vibe of making people feel welcomed. I got the Manila Sky with matcha. After discussing with the staff member about sweetness, I got an unsweetened matcha. This drink was okay. The matcha was okay. The ube cream didn't have too much flavor, like the ube was so subtle that I had to try and find it. I was expecting the cream top to have more flavor and sweetness but it actually wasn't sweet making the entire drink taste slightly bland. I want to go back to get this drink sweetened as well as try other drinks to compare. As a side note, I'm very sensitive to sweetness so when I say it's not sweet, there's like no sweetness at all. The star of the show was the Frisco Shorty aka the breakfast burrito. I normally get sausage breakfast burritos so getting bacon is out of the ordinary for me, but this burrito was so delicious. The simplicity and execution of every part just makes it so great. The bacon inside was pretty crispy. The hot sauce that comes with it is a perfect pairing. I normally don't like hot sauce, but the feeling of being adventurous today ended up in my favor. I also want to add that it was still good after taking it to go and eating it at home. The only con was that it leaked a decent amount of grease, but I'm assuming it was from the cheese and not the bacon. Overall, I really like this place and I hope they continue to improve. This was our second visit to Hologram. The first time was during their soft opening. While we didn't particularly enjoy the coffee on that visit, we loved the breakfast burrito. This time, we came back specifically for the breakfast burrito and to see if our palates had changed when it came to their coffee. The burrito was just as good as we remembered. It has simple, straightforward ingredients--eggs, bacon, cheese, and tater tots--but everything comes together so deliciously. We also gave the coffee another shot and ordered the Manila Sky and the Kona Gold once again. Unfortunately, they still weren't for us. Maybe I'll try something different next time. Overall, Hologram is a nice neighborhood coffee shop with a welcoming atmosphere. While the coffee may not be my favorite, I'd happily come back for the breakfast burrito alone. read more

Inside you will see some interesting art and feels like I stepped into sometime in the past . It's a Filipino theme cafe. You can also enjoy a Senorita inside. They have lots of coffee available. I got the purple colored Ube cream top with milk espresso topped with macadamia nut called the Manila Sky. It was tasty and not too sweet. This is a good place to enjoy a drink in the city streets of San Francisco in the outer Richmond District. There's been so many new coffee/matcha cafes popping up in the Richmond area so I was excited to try Hologram. We stopped by in the afternoon shortly before closing and luckily there wasn't a line when we went. We were originally just going to try one drink but had to get the Manila Sky and Kona Gold to try. I really enjoyed the Manila Sky which I got with oat milk. The ube cream top was rich and luscious without being too sweet and the latte itself is great with the espresso flavor coming through. The cold brew was a little watered down for my taste but I enjoyed the flavor of the coconut foam. I did think the coconut foam could have been richer like the ube foam but overall it was nice for a lighter drink. We were super tempted by the breakfast sandwich and burrito after seeing a ton of people in the cafe eating them. I've only visited once so far, but overall I had a positive experience and am excited to come back and try more of the menu especially since Hologram is owned by Snowbird Coffee! I ordered an iced vanilla latte with almond milk, which came out quickly. It was good, though not quite as flavorful as I was expecting given that Hologram uses Snowbird beans, which I typically love. That said, it may have just been my drink choice, and I'm looking forward to trying some other options. I also ordered the breakfast sandwich. The bacon was much fattier than I personally prefer, so I ended up not eating most of it. I know that's a matter of taste and some people may enjoy it more than I did. What stood out most was the space itself. The aesthetic and vibe are vibrant, welcoming, and a great addition to the neighborhood. I had the Kona Gold Coffee espresso with sweet cream on top, and it was absolutely delicious! The sweet cream paired perfectly with the rich espresso, making it smooth and flavorful. I also tried their new burger, and it was easily the highlight of my meal. The beef patty was thin and crispy, giving it a wonderful crunch and flavor. This is another spot that was trending on IG recently and I think it's one of the better new spots. There's quite a bit of seating inside and a couple outside. They give you a number for your order so be on the lookout when it's busy to get your food/beverage. I got the Manila sky latte with ube. Instantly got my taro coffee fix. It was busy but the quality didn't dip. We got the plate, sandwich, and burrito to try. All relatively the same price and all really good. Just go with what you vibing for. You gona chill for a bit, get the kine plate and crack the egg over the rice. On the go - get one of the others. They come in nice compact wrapping which I liked. Also saw some big ass spoon and fork on the wall as decorations, and instantly figured this spot was Filipino owned lmao. UY PILLIPPINES Honestly I probably wouldn't get the kine plate again cuz the value isn't there for me cuz I feel like I could make it at home. But the sandwich and burrito, I'm too lazy to compile that and would pay $13 for it. They also got senorita bread which I highly recommend. It's sweet Spanish bread. You can get it south city for $15 for like 2 dozen but you're essentially paying for the convenience here. This coffee shop was crowded on a weekday morning. While there were people working and having sit down conversations in the shop, there was a good amount of nonstop customers coming in and out of the shop. I tried their Malama Matcha, which tasted of quality and had a good blend of matcha and milk. My friends tried their Manila Sky: one tried a coffee version and one tried a matcha version. Very cute new cafe for coffee and matcha. The customer service was great. But I am hoping for some improvements. First thing I noticed was that there were no descriptions available for the drinks on the main menu. Many of their drink items are not straightforward by name. There is a small menu with descriptions on the table of the register but that is only visible when you're already at the cashier, which is not ideal. Second thing is the matcha. We got one with and without coconut cream. The matcha had a very faint taste. Honestly it tasted more like water to me and I didn't enjoy the drink. A cute clean cafe west of 25th Avenue just opened and it's a nice place to meet a friend or go solo. I ordered a Brekkie sandwich, which contains fluffy scrambled eggs and crispy bacon on fresh white toast, as well as a hot matcha with oat milk. Service is friendly and the vibe is chilled. Cute cafe with nostalgic vibes. It was already a little busy at 8:15am on a weekend. The Frisco Shorty (breakfast burrito) and Gold Coast Brekkie were both really good, as was the americano. This was one of the rare times I tried a new trendy place, probably because I heard it had Filipino inspired dishes and drinks. If I went back I'd try the coconut drink instead of the ube one because there wasn't any ube flavor, it was too subtle. Saw they have Portuguese sausage in the rice plate, why not serve longanisa? A soft opening is basically a dress rehearsal with real customers. It lets the business test their products, find their flow, identify bottlenecks, train staff, collect feedback, and generate buzz before the official opening. We shouldn't expect things to be perfect in these circumstances. It's not a grand opening. With that being said, I think Hologram is doing a great job already. I was lucky enough to come in at a time on Easter Sunday before a large crowd came through, so I didn't wait that long. The owners also own Snowbird, so I already expected that the coffee was going to be good. And it was. They ran out of matcha for the Manila Sky, so it was a latte instead. No complaints about that, they serve great coffee. Despite the addition of ube cream and macapuno cream in the Manila Sky and Kona Gold, these flavors complement the drinks very well without being overpowering so that the flavor of coffee itself is prioritized, instead of being sugar-forward. The food was our breakfast for the day. Both the Gold Coast brekkie and Frisco shorty hit the spot. I remember telling my partner that either of these could go really well with some longganisa. Lo and behold, a few days later, they posted some new items--silog with Portuguese sausage!!! And Senorita bread. So I guess we have to come back again to try these too! The staff & owners are very friendly and I love the aesthetics. I do expect there to be a wait next time, but I see that as a good sign. Interior is cute - retail interior planning though is lacking with drink descriptions being by the counter - possibly creating a bottleneck should it be busy when patrons are contemplating drinks that aren't the usual; drinks are a**. Another note from what he relayed was that he wasn't easily to spot the 'special drinks' on the wall - it did take me a good moment. From a design/science standpoint the interior planning is lacking as stated. Spainard was overtly sweet - not sure what codensed milk they used; condensed milk is something I grew up with. It was straight up bad - tasted like an odd simple syrup. The Manila Sky was sad - didn't taste great. I am willing to try something different on the menu but wouldn't recommend the speciality drinks at this time. From our drinks we ordered, it didn't seem to be well-thought out/crafted/created drinks. I've been wanting to try Hologram out for a while and I'm glad I was able to stop by! There was a line out the door when I came around 1pm on a Sunday. I got the Manila Sky--I think previously this drink was made with matcha instead of espresso, and so I was a bit disappointed that the menu item changed, but it still tasted good! Saw this new cafe popping off on socials and thought it looked so fun and wanted to try! We came right before it closed and there were still plenty of people inside. The ambiance was very cute and the menu looked so fun since it's filipino inspired drinks. I wish the menus were a bit more descriptive since I was a bit unclear what the different drink items were until we got to the front. I'm pretty picky with my matcha, but the photos and reviews on social media looked promising, so I got a matcha latte. It tasted very light to me, almost like sweetened milk (I also got it half sweet). I was a bit disappointed, but maybe that is personal preference. This is a cute little coffee shop in the richmond district. A bit of a trek to get to if you aren't from the city but nonetheless worth a try!! Very hipster vibes, almost as comparable to Kissaten Hifi which is also in the same area, however a bit bigger with more seating/tables to enjoy your drink/food. They are known for their breakfast sandwiches and burritos, as well as their specialty drinks, such as the Manila Sky which has ube, matcha and espresso. I actually really liked this drink but did find that the espresso overpowered the ube and matcha flavor. I also liked the Kona gold which was their cold brew topped with a makapuno cream. The cream was very thick and cloud like with some coconut shavings. But the best deal of them all was their spanish bread (cinnamon-y/sugary rolls) as they were having a 3 for $5 deal! VERYYYY cute inside, and so glad that something like hologram opened up in the outer richmond because I feel like everywhere in the city deserves levels of a a cute coffee shop that is also trendy. also shout out to the folks who who worked on the design and the lettering (done by signs by meng!!) I got the shakerato which was pretty good (could benefit from more coffee flavor). all of the food was sold out at this point so I couldn't really order anything else but I've heard they have wifi, so could be a really good spot to camp out at! read more

Profoundly disappointed. Unfortunately, the espresso was burnt and flavor of the cold foam was non-existent. As filipinos who love seeing familiar flavors on the menu we are devastated at the quality and flavor of the coffees. read more

Hologram is a very welcome addition to the Central/Outer Richmond neighborhood! We stopped by during their soft opening this week and enjoyed the ambiance as well as the coffee (they currently serve Snowbird espresso). There is some Hawaiian influence in the drinks and food, which probably contributes to the relaxed vibe. It was encouraging to see how busy the place was in its first week. Despite the busyness, the baristas were super friendly and provided great service. We will definitely be back! read more
