Mala Tang restaurant at Cupertino. It's not the type that you choose the ingredients and put it on scale for pricing. They have the menu with ingredients picked for you, I like it this way. I had the lazy guy dry pot, it has all the ingredients I wanted. We also ordered the mala tang spicy soup with udon, sliced beef and lamb, quail egg, pork belly and many others. It's all good.

Delicious and love how you can customize! The price is reasonable and the serving size is filling. The interior was clean and the service was quick.

The best dry pot in Bay. I will die on this hill! Favorite toppings: sliced beef, fish filet, potato (basically fries), wide noodles, eggplant. Their eggplant string bean stir fry (not listed on the menu) is also to die for. So sad to see them go.

Hi Pot is one of my favorite place where you can customize your sizzling pot with various ingredients. I ordered lamb, beef and fatty beef slices in large size #10 DIY pot, with appetizers of popcorn chicken and fried intestine. The service is fast and food taste great. There are plenty of seating in the restaurant. There are reasonable number of parking spots in the strip mall.

First time trying dry pot, which is essentially hot pot ingredients stir fried and served in a fragrant blend of bloomed spices. I'm not a fan of mala hot pot because of the prevalence of Szechuan peppercorns, so this was a welcome variation. The flavor is definitely pronounced, and there's a good amount of oil in there so I'd recommend rice on the side to help absorb the grease. It is a bit pricy for even a small if you decide to add a few things per the add on menu (I added beef tendon meatballs, fish tofu, and lotus root) and rice isn't free at dinner time. However, the portion they serve you even with the small is really big, and I think 2 people could easily split one. Unfortunately, they forgot to add the fish tofu in mine. I'd definitely come back though! It's a unique dish that I feel they execute well.

Fast service and massive portions. This is a size large which it says feeds 2-3 people but could easily feed 4 if you add on a couple more ingredients. We got the #1 House Special Dry Pot with eggplant, quail eggs, and enoki mushrooms. It's on the oilier side but that's expected for dry pot so just keep that in mind. We took half of it home for leftovers and after overnight and adding in more veggies, it's a lot less oily.

3.5/5 Stars! First time having dry pot and I'll admit I prefer regular hotpot over it. It suck's that they don't put that much food in the base and most stuff are additional add-ons that cost extra. It's a tactic for you to pay more because if you don't include add-ons there's not much to eat. Flavor wise it was pretty good. Very spicy and flavorful and goes amazing with rice. There's a lot of food that with two of us we could barely finish it. It's a good option for large groups or those that don't mind sharing.

I've been looking for a solid reasonably priced dry malaxiangguo place in the bay. There were a few parties inside on a late weekend evening, so the ambience was calm and people were still eating together. Service was reasonably fast. We ordered the Lazy Guy Spice Pot for two which came out sizzling hot and sizable enough with room to share with leftovers. For those who haven't tried before, dry hot pot (malaxiangguo) is a stir-fried fragrant mix of meats, vegetables, tofu, and spices. Everything in the dry mix was seasoned perfectly and went well with the side of rice. Hi Pot is now my new go-to Chinese spot in Cupertino. Prices were reasonable too around $20-25 per person. Will have to check them out again for lunch when they serve complimentary rice and tea!

Food (4.65/5): The dry spice pot is so yummy! If you come during lunch, there's a special that includes plum tea and rice with your order. The plum tea is a bit sweet, but hey it's free. And the rice complements the flavorful spice pot well. The food is about $20, but it's so much food and well worth the price. Service (4.3/5): The staff take your order and bring food to you. They seem nice and refill your water if you ask. Ambiance (4.35/5): There is a good amount of indoor seating and Chinese decor on the walls. The restaurant and bathroom were clean. There's a fish tank in the front

Who knew you could amp use the taste of king bean sprouts. Ordered the vegetarian with lamb added as extra, beef, and a custom made one. The large is shareable with 2 with leftovers. Probably the regular size is good for two without leftovers. Moderate spicy is almost not spicy at all. Could definitely go higher without worrying. Comes with sweetened tea and rice during lunch, but no refills on it. Service was fast for most of the groups orders except the vegetarian one. After the group was halfway finished we asked for our other order, it came out right after that. So it doesn't hurt to ask after a few minutes instead of waiting until near the end like we did. Good little lunch spot. Ample seating and some bustling in a modern setting.

Diy pot with beef, fish and taiwanese sausage

If there is something I crave weekly, it's hi pot! This is the place that I will take my friends if they're coming from socal because i've never been to any other dry pot place that makes it like they do here. If you're looking for the numbing spice, this is not the place, but I am so thankful they don't make their pots mala spicy. I always opt for the large diy pot to share with my boyfriend and choose beef, fish and taiwanese sausage for the three selections and add instant noodles so it can help soak up the oil. The large is more than enough for dinner and we typically save half for the next days lunch and add our own veggies and ramen. It's almost as delicious as eating in! Pro tip: if you're ordering to go for a group of friends, boil some ramen and add it into the tray so it helps soak up the oil. It's so much better than just having rice on the side!

Came back again to give it another shot and was more disappointed than before. The stinky fried tofu had no actual tofu in the middle. It just tasted like fried batter. From the presentation, the tofu did not smell, but as you start chewing it, the smell started to kick in. I got a dry pot with medium spicy level and it was not spicy at all. It's suppose to be a dry pot, but the bottom of the pot had at least 1 inch layer of oil/ water.

First time trying this place out. Starting with location: average size inside. Parking can be a bit difficult since it's not a huge parking lot. Service was not too bad. We waited a while to get our order taken, and to get our check, as well. Couldn't even find them to get refills on water. It was hard to flag down our server, and it wasn't overly busy at the time we went, so that knocked down one star. Food was delicious, however. I opted for the diy pot and added beef tendon, lamb, and Napa cabbage in it. I decided to go for medium spicy, but I think I could have gone a little spicier. But flavor profile was amazing! Portion size was just enough. I would come back again, maybe try out the hot pot to see how that tastes. Overall, I would recommend trying out the food here! Rating: 8.5/10

Are they open during COVID19? YES THEY ARE :) diff hours though. Call and ask

Is their vegetarian dry pot vegan? I've been craving this.

You can customize it to be vegan. From what I taste, the sauce that they use doesn't have meat or eggs or dairy in it. But I would call and make sure though.

What's in their secret sauce that they put in every pot?

Is it all You can eat?

No, but the portions are pretty big, so you won't leave hungry.

What keeps us coming back is how well they balance heat and flavor. The spice here never feels like a stunt -- it builds alongside real depth and seasoning. The Qiao Jiao Niu Rou (跷脚牛肉) is a standout -- a Sichuan-style boiled beef dish served in a rich, aromatic broth that somehow lands the spice-to-savory ratio perfectly every time. The Shui Zhu Yu (水煮鱼) is also worth ordering; the fish is decent quality, silky in texture, and the numbing chili oil broth does its job well. The restaurant ambient environment is ok and does get crowded often, but honestly that's just a symptom of being good - this place has built a real following in the South Bay. The name is also really misleading because many Taiwanese restaurant use Grandma as the name. As a foodie this restaurant is legit. It's in a small plaza shared with another Taiwanese restaurant so parking can be difficult but there are plenty of street parking right next to the restaurant. The interior is clean and well organized. The service is prompt and good enough. They ask for reviews but didn't promise some freebie for a semi fake 5 star review which is great. I never leave a good review just for a freebie because my integrity is way more expensive than freebies. The food is phenomenal and authentic in every way. The frogs are tender and the spices are not overwhelming and brings out the flavor of the frog meat just right. The cured pork (pig face meat) is very rare in the states. It's also cured properly to give the authentic hunan flavor. They also mix it with raddish slices which is also rare in most Chinese restaurants here in the states. Even the conch with bamboo shots surprised me in how thin the slices of the conches are. It's also flavored without being too spicy nor too salty. Everything is on point. I do wish they used better white rice but that alone is not enough for me to take off any stars. This is just a wonderful restaurant that's on par with my favorite hunan restaurant in San Gabriel and I'm so glad I found it because I'm sure going to go back every week now.

The potato was so crispy with a soft interior. It came with slices of what looked like pork belly too. The dish was so tasty we devoured it and ordered a second order! The sautéed lotus root with chili peppers were flavorful, mildly spicy, and has the best texture from the lotus root. Most people come here for the Spicy Chicken. This is a very forward spice but it's very addicting. Don't forget to order a side of steamed rice to help offset the spice!
