FINALLY some decent boba around work. PARKING: Limited in a shared lot. There's some street parking as well, but I'd go for the lot if possible. There's a ton of construction on Carson! FOOD: -popcorn chicken: one of my go-to favs. They offer it in a lunch combo, but I prefer the salad because you're basically tricking yourself that you're eating a healthy meal. -tom yum: I'd pass on this as you can find better elsewhere. Chicken portion is a good size, but the broth flavor is subpar. Bonus points for serving in a hotpot minipot! DRINKS: -Overall, they do a great job. It's slightly higher quality than something like Tapioc Express and far better than anything that has previously catered to the Carson crowd (I'm looking at you Honeyboba). My favorite go-to is the jasmine milk tea, but I also love their fruit flavored teas. SERVICE: Slow at times because the line builds like crazy when people ask a lot of questions about the menu. Called in my order since other reviews had said that service was slow and when I got there at Noon it wasn't very packed. The flavor is super sweet and syrupy and doesn't have much tea flavor but, it's not bad. The flavor is kind of like a juice and if you've got a sweet tooth then I'd recommend it. But, if you're like me and prefer a fruit tea with a bit more tea flavor then it's probably best to try another drink. Their boba is really good, it's chewy with the perfect amount of sweetness. We got there ten minutes before their lunch specials ended and they were able to still honor the special. I'm pregnant, I can't drink sodas and I'm not a huge tea person so you can only pick the drinks from the lunch special menu, you can't substitute. Its been a while since returning to Hiccups in Carson and for good reason too. The last time I came here I ordered two bobba milk teas and I requested no ice to be in the cup. When my drinks arrived about 1/3 of the drink was missing . I spoke with the supervisor at the time and she was completely rude about the whole situation. She explained that the drinks are measured and thats why we were shorted on both drinks. The supervisor with the pierced nose a wanna be Kim Kardashian look alike thinks shes too Ms.Important to help customers, she just doesnt have time for being nice. Well i came back six months later and guess whos working the register the same lady who ticked me off the first time. She didnt remember who I was but I definitely remembered her. And yup not a thing has changed about the customer service here. She was completely cold and rude at the register. 3.5 stars. I'll give it 4 stars because I want to support local businesses. Carson is finally going through a change where new businesses & homes are being built. The city is slowly going through a nice makeover & it's great to finally have spots like this available locally. This establishment is located along Carson Street between Grace Avenue and Avalon Boulevard in the newly built luxury condominium/apartment complexes. It is neighbor to Crawfish Corner, another new business to the area. There is parking available along the street but limited. There is a small lot behind the building with decent parking spots. I ordered the lychee breeze slushy. Flavor was okay - first sip & it already tasted watered down. My husband ordered the mangoberry bliss slushie. His wasn't so watered down so that's a plus. Boba did not have a very good consistency - in fact - it's the same quality as the one from the other location. Not so chewy - more oval shaped than round. I usually get the chamoy so maybe I'll just stick to that next time. Overall, it is a nice location with ample seating inside. There is also community seating in the outdoor patio between businesses. I do think the design of the space is a bit inconvenient. I'm sure they knew before opening this location that it would receive the same attention as the Long Beach one - with that in mind, they should have made accommodations for how long the lines would get. There is only ~ 12-18 ft between register & door - only allowing for 6 people to be in line inside. Gets pretty crowded next to the register if you're only waiting for a drink. Also, the servers have to constantly cut through the crowd to bring out food and/or drinks for patrons dining in. All in all - clean & spacious. read more

Driving through Carson and this place looked really promising, great atmosphere. Pretty much downhill from there. Wanted to order a jasmine milk tea with passion fruit (literally adding passion fruit syrup instead of sugar syrup to a jasmine milk tea) and the cashier had to check with one of the drink makers to see if that's possible. I've previously worked at a boba place and it's an incredibly simple request. The lady who had responded was rude and said they were strict about not altering the drinks - isn't that what Boba's about tho?! She said they couldn't make it as it was too hard and I explained that she could just use passionfruit syrup instead of sugar syrup, but no, she again rudely said no and walked away. (The jasmine milk tea itself was 3-4 stars). Boba was overcooked and very soft. I've been to Hiccups several times because I live in the townhomes behind it. Expect a 3-star experience. Here's the deal: If you're just after decent boba in the area, Hiccups is a good option. If you're looking for great food & outstanding customer service, Hiccups isn't where you'll find this. Aside from the popcorn chicken, the rest of the food is really inconsistent in terms of taste--you never know if your food is going to taste like a plate of salt or be super bland, so good luck :P During one of my visits there, I saw THREE separate tables of dissatisfied customers who either complained about receiving an incorrect order or needed to remind the staff about something they asked for a few minutes prior. You can tell that half of the staff there DGAF about their job & they don't seem to have anyone around to whip them into shape. So I've been waiting for this location to open for some time now! I was pretty excited to finally try this place out. The service was great but the food was mediocre. I bought the dynamite wings, popcorn chicken and a chamoy mango smoothie w/ boba. The reason I give this place 3 stars is because the dynamite wings were NOT good. 1st off, the smell made me queasy. These wings smelled like dog food, and I didn't pay for dog food. 2nd, I ordered the dynamite because I wanted something spicy... The cashier said that the dynamite was spicy.... WRONG. It was sweet and I didn't want sweet. I ate one wing and decided I was done with that. The popcorn chicken was really good! The sweet and sour topped it off really well. I give that a thumbs up. Came here after shopping at Ikea for a quick bite to go. Ordered the garlic noodles with shaken beef. Haven't been to Hiccups location in about 2 years (last time was at the Magnolia location in Anaheim.) Opened my container and saw mostly noodles and veggies (bell pepper and onions) making up a bulk of the dish. For $18 plus tip, I don't feel like the contents can justify the price. I understand there's overhead and store space to account for, but this feel at most like a $12-14 dish. It's not bad but the portions don't command that price point. read more

Went here for the third time on October 28 right before we went to Ikea. We got our usual... an iced green tea with boba and an iced black tea with boba. Initially, the tea and the boba tasted fine as usual. However, as we got closer to Ikea (5 minute drive), I was having trouble getting the boba through the straw. I didn't think much of it until we were in Ikea itself, where i had even more trouble. I then looked into the cup through the ice, and I saw a huge clump of boba stuck together, and it looked like mold collecting on the bottom of the clump. I cheer need my wife's tea, and, sure enough, same clump. Needless to say, I wont be back. Tbh there's not a lot of good boba hangout places around the South Bay area compared to 626 area and the OC area. If I had to choose a decent boba place to hangout, most likely it would have to be Hiccups. They offer food food like a typical restaurant and they also serve the usual boba and snacks. There's a lot of variety/options at Hiccups. I've only had their garlic noodles once in the Long Beach location and it was alright. I've had better garlic noodles elsewhere. The boba here isn't too bad either. Today I got the golden milk tea and the jasmine milk tea. The golden milk tea was actually not that bad. The jasmine milk tea had too much flower essence taste to it so it didn't really taste like real tea compared to other boba places. I wasn't too fond of that flower essence. What I really like is their popcorn chicken. I think their popcorn chicken is pretty good because the chicken pieces are actually pretty big/decently sized and it's not overly fried or battered. Plus, there's not a lot of random bits of fried batter so you're actually getting popcorn chicken. We got the spicy level but it wasn't really that spicy tbh. It comes with ranch and sweet & sour chili but you can also ask for sriracha as well. Parking is in the back but it can be crowded at times. The WiFi is the Churroholic place LOL. read more

I use to drive all the way to Cerritos just for this but I'm so glad that they opened one not far from where I live. Through out the past couple visits their service has terribly gone down compared to when they had first opened. I go here because its convenient for me and what I'm craving for. But whenever I've gone here it would take about 35-40 min just for me to get my order. and I always order the same thing because my fiance and I usually just come here for lunch or dinner. There combination fried rice is the best!! And we usually get Jasmine green tea and popcorn chicken. We would change it up and sometimes order the Chamoy Mango or Fruity Booty. Parking: Parking is small. They have a few spots in front but the lot is small due to other business that they had opened.
