This place rises to the top of good Chinese food spots in EG. The menu is simple. Place is small, cute and clean. Food came out fast and the service and cooks were friendly. Singapore Noodles - really tasty and nice and spicy. Noodles are slightly thicker than other places, but has a nice springy texture. XLB - flavor was good, hot and soupy. More skin and thicker than we usually like and didn't care for the sauce, but does the job when you need to satisfy your 小笼包 craving. Our kiddo ate most of the basket himself. Spicy Green Beans - these were good too. Slightly saucier and saltier than other places but tasty nonetheless. Chili Oil - was really good. I put it in everything. May have a little sichuan pepper corn in it too. Great flavor. Not too spicy. Price point is a little high, but cost for everything has gone up everywhere. The portions are big. WOW. This place is AMAZING!!! The moment you walk in the door you get a whiff of all the fragrant flavors. A meld of garlic and spices. You can only imagine how good your food is about to taste ! This was my first time trying dumplings. And it did not disappoint. I placed my order over the phone. And the guy who was taking my order was very helpful in giving me his recommendations. He said the pork, shrimp, chive dumplings were the most popular. So of course, that's what I ordered. I also ordered the dinner combo plate with general tso's chicken, chow mein, fried rice, and an egg roll. Hands down THE BEST generals chicken I've ever had. I usually find fried rice lacking in taste. But this rice was packed with flavor I didn't even need to add soy sauce. The chow mein was equally as delicious. The dumplings were to die for. Obviously, I don't have anything to compare them to (yet) but they were very good. I also got the Singapore rice noodles. Yum yum yum. Have always seen this place in Elk Grove but never had the chance to go until my boyfriend and I decided to try something new. We got in about a hour and a half before closing and it was surprisingly empty. The waiter was super sweet and very attentive. The food was actually amazing which we weren't expecting. I also ordered a black milk tea with boba and the soup dumplings which we also enjoyed so much. We had the fried spicy wontons; the meat was undercooked inside and lacked flavor along with a "chili oil" that only tasted like pure soy sauce with chili flakes. We just ate here. Most of the food was generic. The Xiao long bao is terrible. Some had no meat in it. I recommend the owner to just remove it from the menu. It is pretty embarrassing xlb. The normal dumpling is better and probably was their specialty. All the other noodle dishes were is OK. Probably won't be returning. There are plenty of other places that specialize in their type of food and taste better. ---- Just want to respond to the Mgr. To clarify, we understand that meat is an ingredient in xlb. Went in yesterday on a Saturday a little bit before noon and got seated quickly with my bf. We ordered way too much food and my server kindly and promptly bagged everything to go as we weren't able to finish not one single plate! I couldn't believe how much i liked the honey walnut shrimp!! The wonton soup is delicious and reheats well! The only thing I wouldn't order again is the steamed pork buns just because it was ground beef and I'm used to more of a shredded pork type (personal preference). This is a slightly above average Szechuan place. I had shrimp/pork dumplings, which were good, extremely lean, but not great. I also had the Szechuan beef stir-fry, which was also good, but not great. I'm at the point in my cooking where I could definitely make as good a stir-fry for my household, but most people aren't. Hidden Dumpling is above your average Elk Grove Chinese food, and this place seems worth visiting repeated times, especially if you prefer takeout more often than assembling dinner. Not much to make this place stand out as a Szechuan or dumpling restaurant, but the variety, craftsman-like preparation and quick service make it one of the better places for a return visit. read more

Pork/shrimp/chive dumpling was filled with mostly chives and didn't see any shrimp inside. What a cheat! Place is cute, but tables were sticky, had to go to the bathroom and get paper towels to wipe it again, AC wasn't really working felt more humid than anything. And IT'S SUPER LOUD!!! Came here around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. We were a group of 5 and we ordered a lot not knowing the portion size. Guys Eveything here is family style so I would order maybe 3 items at a time to see how full you feel. The best item we had was the house deluxe fried rice. The wok flavor from the rice is so favorable and lots of umami. We regret not ordering more of the fried rice. I do not recommend getting the xiao long bao because it tasted funny. Usually xiao long are always a hit for me in most places but not here. It tasted sour and we ordered two portion (each portion is 8 baos) and were struggling to finish it. Potstickers were really good too but the wraps are a bit thick but it was still very tasty. The milk tea price is reason since it's 4.99 per cup and it was better than I expected! There are about three chefs in the kitchen so the food came out really quick! Parking here is spacious so you don't need to worry about parking. I would definitely come back here once I'm back in Elk Grove except not getting the xiao long bao . read more

Was excited to see a new dumpling spot pop up in Elk Grove. Hidden Dumpling House is cute place that took over the old Sea bowl location. The day we stopped in was over 95 degrees and the restaurant didn't have AC, they had some fans blowing in the restaurant but it was still pretty toasty inside since the kitchen is open to the dining area. The menu is simple, no description to the food. But our server was very friendly and answered any questions we had on the menu. For a dumpling house, the dumplings didn't feel like it was the star of the menu, they do have a good selection of Chinese food. We tried several items, my favorite was the garlic eggplant, it was a good portion and good flavor. The chili oil wonton was deep fried and was pretty good, it's not the traditional kind. The pork shrimp chive dumplings was very chive forward and was a bit bland. Overall, the food and service was good but wish they offer more dumpling options. read more

Received a Yelp notification of a new "Dumpling" spot and wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, I admit I went in having higher expectations than I should have. They do have a nice selection of dumplings but nothing that particularly stands out. We also tried their special of the day: Xiao Long Bao. Thick wrappers and not a lot of soup inside. Average at best. Other dishes we had: Ma Po Tofu - Meatless and not a lot of flavor. Combo plates - General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken plates. Again, average. But the portion size is pretty big. Good enough to share between 2 people (if not 3). Probably not a place we will back to for awhile. read more
