We all ordered burgers, but I had onion rings with mine. Disappointed the Hot Damn! wasn't spicy, but regardless still delicious and same goes for their onion rings. My friends loved their seasoned fries. The reviewer saying they fry things well here was on the money. If you're a typical Minnesotan and can't handle spice... do NOT go off my review saying the Hot Damn! isn't spicy. It's probably going to make you sweat. I think the Hideaway has the best food on St Anthony Main. I really like getting their Main St burger with ghost pepper cheese, it is so tasty! Would also recommend their wings, onion rings, and seasonal walleye sandwich. Curds are good but I miss when they used to have the Cry Baby Craigs curds with the spicy batter. I guess what I'm trying to say is they know how to fry things here I've been going to their patio lately and it has a great view of downtown. Service is good and they have a wide variety of drinks. Very nice patio! Decided to have dinner/happy hour here after work around 5pm. Inside the restaurant was completely empty, everyone was sitting on the patio, which is big. Shorty after our food came it did start to rain and they were prompt and nice about moving us inside. The food was okay. Not sure I'd go out of my way to eat here again. I ordered the 2 chicken wings from the happy hour menu, they we're a little over cooked, therefore I couldn't fully enjoy the flavor of the seasoning. What a great spot for a burger and a beer! Great people watching, near the water, dog friendly patio, and close to home. The only thing missing was better bike parking. We chose the classic burger with cheese and a bacon burger. Both had great flavor and were served on a freshly toasted bun along with toppings; the dill pickles were on the side. We ordered a small fry with sauce and onion rings. The onion rings are breaded, served with ranch dip, and were really good! Fries were good too although I would order the onion rings only next time. Stopped by the new St. Anthony Main joint on opening day for HH. I had to see what the bar offering a sub-$10 burger on the strip was all about! Service: They had plenty of servers on staff, but it took about 15 minutes for them to take our drink order. They were friendly and once we did get our orders in, the drinks and food came pretty quickly. There was an overcharge on the tab that had to be corrected too. I'd chalk most of the issues up to opening day jitters, but the service put a damper on my first experience. Food: Between us, my buddy and I got the Main Street Burger which was adequate (note: the burgers don't come with chips/fries), the HH chicken wings that had delicious flavor, but the size left us a tad disappointed, as well as the chili, the highlight of my meal. Drinks: Gone are the beer towers of Tuggs :( their beer list was about average and the prices are on par with the rest of the bars on SAM. The well drinks were a bit small. Atmosphere: Gotta love the patio! Any patio with that view and people-watching perch you really can't go wrong with! Inside is darker and more for winter hibernation. All-in-all, The Hideaway left me with what I expected. Nothing to write home about, but definitely a place I'll grab a seat on the sunny patio for the cheapest burger you can find on St Anthony Main. I was out for a jog and spontaneously decided to have a drink at their patio. I ordered what they had for cider beer *see the picture, it wasn't bad, but not Angry Orchard or Stella cider. Service was pleasant and courteous. They're located at a really good spot on St. Anthony Main. It's next to down town but much more low key. Sitting on the patio provided a beautiful scenery with the river, city buildings, people walking their dogs, and relaxing music. I'll do another review when I'm back for a burger. read more

I met 2 friends here for our very first patio of the "summer". OK it's May, but let me have this! It was super nice out, and although we did wait about 30 mins we were seated along the walkway which I loved bc the people watching was prime. We had an awesome waitress, I can't remember her name but she was VERY prompt. My friend and I tried the frose'(frozen rose) and I personally loved it. On a hot day this would be the best thing ever(I had 2). I also had the Main Street burger and it came with fries. Our food came out super fast and I thought the burger was near perfect. This place is definitely only good at burgers. I went with a group to capitalize on the January happy hour that is $10 pizza pies and $5 beers. The pizzas were more like $4 pies, but the beer selection is solid. We got the hideaway deluxe, sausage, and buffalo chicken pizzas. None of them were repeat worthy, but the buffalo was the best if you're hankering for this deal. The TV placement is haphazard. But, if you have "Burger" in your name, you better be able to deliver a strong product. That, they did not do. This was an unexpectedly fun find! A friend and I went here before a fundraiser and since it was a block away from the venue, we thought we'd try it! Super casual, laid back vibe. Awesome burger selection (any of which can be made in to turkey or veggie options)! Decent beer selection though for wine they only had one white and one red option, and only a few cocktails listed. Hideaway is in a fantastic location on St Anthony Main and a marked improvement to Tuggs in terms of food and drink offerings. Menu was good for burger offerings but lacking in any other variety so make sure you are up for a burger if you go! The one drawback was that the food was incredibly salty. To be honest, I really wasn't expecting much. I thought it would be a solid cheeseburger, but nothing to write home about. I was pleasantly surprised! The bun, burger, sauce, cheese and bacon ratio was incredible. I gobbled that thing up so fast and at the end of our meal we all looked around at each other and were extremely impressed. The fried you order on the side are big and potatoey - just how I like them! The only thing I wish was a little different about Hideaway Burger Bar was the price. They say that they are an affordable option, but if you are paying $12 and up for a burger I wish it came with fries as well instead of having or order extras on the side. This was my first time at Hideaway Burger Bar and I had an incredible experience! I met a friend for Happy Hour after work and we got $3 off all burgers. I tried the "Bad and Bougie" (Nueske's bacon, caramelized onion & garlic, gorgonzola dolce, cherry aioli, arugula, tomato) and my friend got the "Return of the Mac" (French fried onions, mac 'n' cheese, bacon bits, lettuce, tomato). They had a unique flavor, meat was tender, juicy and crispy. My man said he'd order the hot damn burger again. It had good flavor but wasn't too spicy. The meat was juicy and the bun had a great butter toasted flavor and texture. The garlic aioli was a little overpowering. I wasn't a huge fan of the bourgeois burger. I agree the meat was juicy and the bun was awesomely toasted, but the bacon was a little too smoky flavored and the other ingredients didn't have much personality. The fries had great seasoning and we would order them again but might ask for them to be "extra crispy" next time! We had about a 30 minute wait which was fine because it was a gorgeous evening so we were able to walk down to the river and St. Anthony Bridge, totally gorgeous! Our food took a bit longer than expected and when it did come out, my burger came out 5 minutes before my boyfriends... I hate when that happens because I don't start eating until he has his food and I was watching mine get cold. Both of us were impressed with our burgers; portions, flavors, everything was on point. The fries I loved the seasoning, however I'm not a big 'thick fry' fan, I'd prefer a bit smaller cut. Overall I'd give the fries an 8/10. Ok so I decided to stop around 8:30 for dinner. It was dark so apologies for flash photos. The server was fun and pleasant however being on the patio in the dark (it was really dark) we were kind of left alone. As for the food: the Hot Damn burger was much more cohesive in flavor and lived up to expectations of a slightly spicier burger but definitely not too spicy. The Philly burger was meh. The fries weren't as crispy as I was hoping for but the special sauce (kinda like BigMac sauce) saved it. The star of the meal were the wings. They were big, meaty, juicy and had a really nice crispy skin to it. They were probably one of my favorite wings this year. With just a hint of cinnamon in the seasoning, the wings tasted great after pouring on the buffalo sauce and dipping it in ranch (I wasn't a huge fan of the blue cheese).
