Had a group of 7 when we visited here recently. It was a Wednesday and we did have a reservation, but the place seemed almost empty. Our server Amanda was great and she was training someone that helped out as well. They were very attentive and got refills on drinks and waters as much as we needed them. We spend quite a bit of time talking after we ate, and they were very kind to let us hang out and do so, as it wasn't busy. The food was very good and they had a specials menu in addition to the regular menu. One of the specials that night was short rib and three of us ordered that, and we were not disappointed. It came with soup or salad and side. I chose to upgrade to the seafood bisque and so happy that I did. It was chalked full of seafood and had a great flavor. We opted not to get dessert, but they all sounded amazing and may need to save room for one next time. All in all, it was a great evening, with great service, food and friends! read more

Place is cute - not a lot of places with a good vibe in the area. Love local spot. We didn't get far on the menu - ordered the stuffed mushrooms crab cakes, a side salad with chicken and the artichokes fricassee. They altered the artichokes to accommodate my allergies. The crab cakes were creamy and the remoulade was super good - not sure they were lump though. Honestly the service was good. The food was underwhelming. The hideaway is a cute spot nestled in North Tonawanda. I visited for the first time last week with a coworker. Their drink menu is impressive and fun. The cocktails are creative and delicious. My coworker ordered the cinnamon whiskey. It arrived garnished with a full cinnamon stick and hollowed orange slice. For my entree, I ordered the chicken française, which was perfect. Thin breading and tender chicken. I ordered garlic steamed broccoli and a side salad. The side salad and steamed broccoli were nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed them. I wish I had chosen a different side for the chicken. Next time! The parking situation was a bit sparse. There are only a few spots out front, and most other spots (for the surrounding businesses) were filled, as well. My coworker had to park in the Rite Aid parking lot, and I parked near a nail salon on the other side of the building. The tables were very nicely spaced to properly socially distance. The service was speedy and attentive. The crowd looked like regulars. It was fairly busy for a Thursday night. Nearly all tables were filled (around 6/7pm) All in all, this restaurant experience was nice. I will definitely consider revisiting! read more

Should you try The Hideaway? It far exceeded my expectations! Incredibly friendly staff, excellent service, and the food for this first time lunch here was delicious. Can a "sandwich" be memorable? This one certainly was. Known as the Hideaway Supermelt, and described on their menu as grilled cajun chicken breast, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and frizzled onions served on toasted French bread and a side of cajun Mayo was truly amazing. Will definitely be back to try additional items. Clean and comfortable surroundings. Not being familiar with this part of town, and the odd convergence of one-way roads in the immediate area, made for a bit of a challenge getting here. The parking comments made by others are accurate. I did although learn that they own the lot next door where there is a furniture store for parking (next time). Enjoyed a fabulous dinner last night at Hideaway Grille, it was our first time back since the renovations. I like that there's more seating now, must be a good sign that they're getting lots of business! Since they don't take reservations on Friday, we were nervous and almost didn't go but ended up figuring if we came later there wouldn't be that much of a wait, we were right. We waited 10 minutes at the bar and ordered drinks in the meantime, I got a Moscow Mule, yum. We didn't see the craft drafts on the other side so my bf was sad that he missed out on that. I wanted to use the wine check in offer but saw that it said with entree purchase so I'll save it for next time. After we were seated we were greeted right away by our waitress, who was very attentive. We both got Chicken Alaska... so good! He got it with a large baked potato and I got it with the German potato salad which was really tasty. The entree also comes with soup or salad. Overall service was good, food came out in a timely manner, and drinks were really good. Looking forward to coming here again... and eating my leftovers. :) read more

Baby don't hurt me Don't hurt me No more "Hideaway" is named after the owner, singer "Haddaway", who moved us all with that beautiful, poignant, philosophical song in his second language, in the mid-1990s. I have never seen him at the restaurant but my word, I feel the power in his lyrics and 90s dance beats every time I eat food here. What to order: Stuffed Peppers What else: everything. I've only tried the Stuffed Peppers here off the regular menu, and they tasted good. Came back the other day to get a full order. Very gorgonzola heavy but still enjoyable. A little overpriced but filling and still good as leftovers. You get four big ones and some yummy toast. Four big ones is just how she likes it in her hideaway grille. The other time I came here was for an expensive tasting menu with 5 courses and lots of wines. Unfortunately I missed the first few courses, and apparently some of the best food. But what I had, was delicious. I also should say that the service was lovely, the owners are incredibly nice, the place is very popular in the Tonawandas and brings lots of happiness to the community, the portion sizes are excellent, and the decor is very cosy and WNY. My only service complaint was that I had to ask three different waitstaff if they had any of the courses that I missed left over. The first one said they would check but never returned. The second one did not seem happy about the question. By the time I asked the third one, the chefs had already left, and she said "the chefs might have known where some was." But that's my own fault because I was so late, so I'm not going to downgrade them for it. Anyway, try the stuffed peppers! And if you want a banquet-style feast that is heavy on the alcohol, come to their annual 5-course dinner, which I think costs 50 or so per person, but is full of fun and socializing and all kinds of treats! Went here tonight for restaurant week. They were out of the flat iron steak (we got there at 6:45pm) which was very disappointing. We came here once a few years ago and weren't that impressed, but after some advice from a coworker, talking about the new ownership and remodeling, I decided to try it again. Everything was phenomenal. I loved the strawberry butter with olive bread (definitely different, but food!) Italian wedding soup, and chicken Milanese. With my Yelp check in, I was able to get a free glass of wine... they were nice enough to honor it for me during restaurant week. The service was great, and I'm happy to say I will be back again, we live just a few blocks away too. read more

I took me over a decade to finally try this place, and we were not disappointed. This restaurant quietly hides along the Twin Cities Highway at the border of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. This was the first restaurant we've dined in during covid-19 since the summer. We felt comfortable eating here as thie tables were spaced out properly and all staff were wearing masks. We did go early so it wasn't as busy; it got busy around 6:15pm on a Saturday. We are greeted nicely by the greeter and then led to our reserved table quickly. Service was great the entire time. We decided to order a bunch of items to share. The meal began with fresh bread served with garlic butter, olive oil, and whipped butter. That was tasty. We ordered crab cakes. That came with two medium sized crab cakes and we each had one, there were very full of crab and not lots of breading and it came with a really nice sauce that was unique. The waitress told us that all of the sauces, dressings, etc are made in house! I love that. I ordered the crock of French Onion soup and it was tasty with loads of cheese. My partner ordered the seafood bisque which was also very tasty and full of seafood. He also ordered a house salad which was nicely topped with croutons and cheese and came with a side of homemade ranch dressing which was thick and creamy. Our last item, which we were basically stuffed by then was the steak sliders which came with two sliders, and a garlic aioli. The sliders were fantastic, unfortunately I didn't have much room in my belly for them. We brought one home. We did not listen to the dessert menu as we were too full, but I definitely heard the waitress tell another table some of the options and they sounded great. Highly recommend! read more

Food is excellent. Server was very nice and accommodating. We had a funeral brunch at the Hideaway and the meal was fabulous . Chicken cutlets, breaded pork chops and beef tips with mashed potatoes was all great. And the deserts were delish. The small banquet room was very accommodating for 35 people. My husband and I were both amazed by this place. Me for the quality of the food, and him because we found a local place that doesn't bring out my inner Gordon Ramsay. First off, from the reviews I was picturing this place as a little hole in the wall dive. That is definitely not the case. If you use the Twin City Hwy, you have passed this little gem without even knowing it--tucked in next to the Mattress store across from Dollar General. :-) The dining room area is nicely done with warm tones and nice patterns. The seating is comfortable and can be rearranged to accommodate larger groups. The bar area is separate, and not overly loud, though it was pretty busy while we were there. The overall feel is upscale casual. Our waitress Lisa was very friendly and attentive--and most of all gracious when dealing with my husband's sense of humor (lol). She came over to check on us several times and refill waters, etc. The food was simply amazing. We ordered the stuffed hot peppers because everyone raves about them, and they did not disappoint. Cheesy, filled to the brim, and not too hot. The French Onion soup was excellent. Tons of melty cheese, and not too salty. The Spinach Salad (with hot bacon dressing!! Omg) was so delicious, and once I saw the size, I took Lisa up on her suggestion to box half immediately. (So now I have lunch too! Check out the picture!) My husband ordered the burger with bacon, egg, and cheese on it. He marveled over how everything was cooked perfectly. The burger was medium rare and the egg a perfect over-medium. The first 5 minutes of our dinner were outstanding and then it just went downhill from there. 15-20 min for our drinks to come My friend still wasn't quite ready but she said she would be in one minute. I stopped the server to throw in my app order. Thankfully, because we didn't see her again for another 15 min.Anyway, she was super nice so I ignored all of this still! My friend ordered first, a medium well filet. The server then suggested that HER filet be "butterflied" so that the inside was cooked because "sometimes it's hard to get the inside of our filet cooked." I asked about their "walnut crusted filet." I wanted her to explain the dish because I was deciding between that and just a regular filet. She told me it had a blue cheese/walnut crust with a drizzle on top like a black & blue burger. She said it was almost sweet but the strong blue cheese taste mixed well with it. I got mine medium rare. Sounded right up my alley, that's my favorite combo on a burger. However, the menu said demi-glace which typically isn't sweet but I'm open to trying new things. After that I got my stuffed peppers which were very good. Our server disappeared though so my mouth was burning and our drinks were empty. Our dinner arrived shortly after. My friend received a completely burnt to a crisp filet & freezing cold INSTANT potatoes. My meal just tasted awful. It actually made my stomach sick. It had NO flavor at all. It was medium not medium rare but that was fine. There was no walnut crust, it looked like someone stuck their hand in a bag of walnut halves and sprinkled them on my steak. I couldn't taste the blue cheese at all. Have you ever heard of completely flavorless blue cheese? And the sauce was a thick gravy. Not a demi-glace OR a balsamic sweet flavor, either of which I would have been fine with. I couldn't believe what we were served. And the waitress was nowhere to be found, again. She never asked how our meals were, and we waited 25 mins. We were really hungry so we ate bread & potatoes. But had no drinks to wash it down, again. So finally my friend went up to the hostess and asked if she'd mind finding our server but she couldn't. We showed her the burnt steak first and she made a disgusted face and went to grab the manager/owner instead. This was just the icing on the cake. She comes over and asks if there's a problem. Doesn't introduce herself. My friend shows her the steak that you can't even get a knife or fork through and she says "Well it looks like you ordered it butterflied and it tends to dry out the steak when you do that." They went back and forth until finally she agreed the steak was overcooked! The server came over at this point apologizing and I saw the manager/owner turning away with her plate so I said "excuse me..." and anyone who knows me knows I have a soft voice lol but this woman held her hand up and said "I can't talk to two people at once" as if I was bombarding her. I just sat there. Then she turned to me and said "And what's going on with yours??" I explained to her how it had no flavor and it was nothing like it was described to me, it just tasted like walnuts on a bland steak. She said "Well you ordered a walnut steak *chuckle*" I know what I ordered and it's nothing like it was described to me.I replied, "I can't taste the blue cheese or even tell if it's on there, the sweet sauce the waitress described is actually flavorless thick gravy which doesn't taste like anything and theres no seasoning at all. It just tastes like a pile of walnuts on a steak with flavorless gravy. It tastes like it may be off from the way your server described it." Her reply was, "There's definitely blue cheese, I can see it, and that's one of our popular dishes." Also I had to use my phone to see the menu, how on earth did you see the blue cheese from 3 ft across the table. She then grabs my plate, starts walking away, and says you won't be eating this then right? And I replied no. Are you kidding me? This is how this woman speaks to her customers? Was it a full moon? She came over to US...we didn't ask for her, we asked for our server. Then she acts annoyed and gives us attitude for not wanting burnt filet and stomach turning walnut gravy?? I'm sorry but if it were me I would have apologized right away and taken the plates to the kitchen to show the cook who we found out from the server wasn't their regular which then made a little more sense why my "popular dish" maybe was off that night. I'd also make sure my servers were describing menu items correctly because IF that's how your food is meant to taste it was described incorrectly. Even though my server was missing most of the night she was so nice that I never would have left a 1 star had it not been for the way this owner/manager talked to me.HORRIBLE experience and would not return or support this business. My wife and I are big fans of your food. Wife normally gets the chicken francaise. Their variation of it is good. Always consistent. I've been getting the pot pie lately and you make a good one. Had that the other day with some beans and greens soup. Good stuff. Prices are fair. Service has always been good. Only negative is the parking. Just a rough spot. I dont mind the walk, especially after filling my face but I do wish it was more convenient for some customers that may need to park closer. read more

This resturant was surprisingly large with separate rooms and a bar. People were eating lunch in the one with booths and wood flooring and then it opened up to one with fancier tables with a buffet table set up for events I'm assuming. Parking was limited and full half an hour after they opened, but tables weren't full at all. When we came in, 2 different sets of music were playing with a Josh Groban esque opera song going over our booth, and lady Gaga in the bar area. Thankfully they turned off the one above our heads. Food was okay. It's a good sandwich place but the rest of the food is simple. The mashed potatoes had no flavor at all... Even salt or pepper would be good if they didn't want to try garlic or cheese. On the other hand the fries were fantastic and crispy like a fish fry. We have now visited the Hideaway for lunch and for dinner on a number of occasions. It has always been clean and well appointed. The food and the service are always consistently great. Sometimes the line is long to get in, but it moves rather quickly and well worth the wait! We especially enjoy the Friday night fish fry because it doesn't have to be fried! The soups are wonderful - we only wish they would make the roasted red pepper soup more often...we would go just for that! read more

Second time back tonight for dinner and once again, blown away. They have a peach sangria right now and I had 3 of them, they were so good! Started off with bbq bacon wrapped shrimp. This is my second time getting it because that's how much I loved it the first time. The bacon is cooked perfectly - a little soft in the middle but crispy on the edges. The shrimp are a good size and the bbq sauce is a great compliment. I also ordered the French onion soup and this was my second time having it as well. The cheese to soup ratio is perfect, the soup itself is salty but not overly salty, and has the right amount of onions without being overwhelming. For an entree I chose the burger and added cheddar and bacon. The cheddar cheese was sharp and fresh, something you could taste in the cheese. The burger cooked medium as I requested and was moist and flavorful. The fries were good but I barley touched them given the rest of the meal! Lastly, the lemon berry mascarpone cheese cake - wow!! It was sweet but had a zing to it and was very indulgent. My only disappointment tonight was forgetting to take photos!! Guess that just shows how great my company was and how good the food was that we couldn't wait to take a pic! read more

You might not expect much from just a neighborhood bar and grille, but in this case you would be wrong... The staff has to be one of the friendliest out there and is truly cares about you having the best possible dining experience possible. The menu may not seem overly creative, but everything is homemade and executed in a way that leaves you feeling like you just had that home cooked meal your grandmother would prepare for the family on special occasions. Hideaway Grille is another one of those gems that doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside it's spacious yet cozy. No local wines on the wine list, but I enjoyed my moscato. I had the 8 oz burger. It starts at $9. You can add cheese for a dollar. I had cheddar. I also substituted fresh cut fries for the fresh cut potato chips for $1.50. It came to $11.50, which seems pretty standard, if not on the cheaper end for a quality burger. The kobe burger starts at $11. The best thing about the burger is they actually cooked mine medium rare to order. Winfield's Pub in Buffalo still has the best burger I've tried so far, but the burger at Hideaway Grille is a close second. I usually try to save half my burger, but I had to clean my plate.
