The Classic Stuffed Mushroom and Mixed Greens Salad
    Cassondra C.

The hideaway is my favorite restaurant and has been for the last 12 years. Their open steak sandwich is my favorite steak ANYWHERE. Their stuffed mushrooms are sooooooo delicious and their sweet potato with walnuts, brown sugar and butter is basically dessert. I'd recommend a lot on their menu even for someone who's pretty picky. The artichoke dip is amaaaazing. And if you dine at a table rather than the bar you get home made bread with their home made flavored butters Their service is always great and the ambiance is too!! The owners Ed and Lori are regularly there and are so personable and make sure you have the best dining experience for your night out.

The Fish fry is excellent. The haddock is thick and fluffy with just enough crispy beer batter and cooked to perfection. NO over greasy rock hard fish here. There are multiple sides available. I was able to skip the mayonnaise based sides and get a baked potato and green beans for no extra charge. They have Smithwicks beer too!

Review is from December 2023. Server was Macey. She was pleasant and attentive. Artichoke Francaise 8/10 Creamy lemon garlic sauce was delicious. Not huge fan of the batter, it was kinda cakey. Would rather have a breaded artichoke. French Onion Soup - cup 7/10 Pretty good. The broth looked like it was oily but didn't taste it. Flavor was good. Could use one less chunk of bread, and definitely needed way more cheese. Pasta brandel 9/10 Added shrimp. Good and simple. I liked the amount of tomatoes in there. Just needed a tiny bit of salt and could have had more Parmesan on top too. Shrimp was cooked good!

Never would have found this place without a friend's repeated recommendations. I'm glad we finally drove up and gave it a try. Very clean comfortable atmosphere. Stuffed peppers were excellent, and the meal was great. Staff was friendly and prices were reasonable. Will not be out last trip here....

Is this Rare prime rib or is it WHAT??????? for 43.00$

Ordered a 16 oz Prime Rib Center cut and received a boiled piece of some kind of meat for 43.00$. Called the manager after opening my to go order and told her I specified Rare center cut and took a picture and texted her the product and she said to bring it back. She was rude and she said I could try another piece or be lucky to get a refund of 43.00$. Why would I want any piece of that rib roast after getting a overcooked piece of meat!!! Someone there does not know how to cook prime rib roast or was this leftover from some other time ! I am from Texas and know a lot about beef so no excuse for this! She would not even compensate for me not having my meal and acted like the refund was a favor to me ,really. Also they charged me 5.00 for a Caesar salad that went with my meal? Horrible customer service and food has gone down the tubes!!! So as you can see in the picture is this what I ordered or is this mystery meat!

    Whole rack of ribs.

I saw the Yelp reviews for ribs so I decided to give them a try. The ribs were fall of the bone delicious with a little kick. They were served with bread, coleslaw and baked beans. I wasn't a fan of their coleslaw. We split a Greek Salad which was great. The waitress stated that everything is homemade in the kitchen. Service was terrific and the restaurant is kept very clean. They also give you a free glass of wine for checking in with Yelp. We definitely will be returning.

    How's the fish fry here?

I don't like fish so can't personally attest to the fish fry, but my husband loves it here and we have other friends who like it as well. If I remember correctly, the portions are pretty generous. The food in general at the Hideaway is pretty good.

There were still tables available inside, so don't let a full parking lot scare you away. Do not skip the fried green tomato appetizer- to die for! I ordered the Sunday prime rib special with a loaded baked potato and asparagus, and it was absolutely to die for. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and such a great portion. My husband had the chicken risotto and loved every bite. We heard regulars talking about how amazing the desserts are. We were too full this time but next time I'm excited to try the bread pudding! The bartender/manager was incredibly kind and knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. The whole place has such a cozy, welcoming vibe. We enjoyed every part of our meal and can't wait to come back!

Their food quality was amazing, absolutely delicious and full of flavor!! The only reason we gave it four stars was because our food took forever. They either accidentally forgot about us or lost the ticket? The manager noticed and tried to remedy the situation so that was good customer service on her part. Other tables got their food pretty quickly so it just seemed to be a fluke and I wouldn't hold that against them. Mistakes happen. Overall, would eat here again and recommend it!

Sides: Mac and Cheese very good. Creamy and also with a nice kick. Sweet potato fries perfect. The honey dipping sauce very tasty. Tried the "sweet corn pudding". Interesting. Cornbread stuffing and corn. Might make for Thanksgiving. Cornbread a bit too smooth, more cakey than coarse. Wife had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and Honey Poppyseed Coleslaw. Our server checked my ID when I ordered a drink, which was perfectly fine, but didn't even acknowledge that it was my birthday. Not a huge issue, but it would have been a nice touch. Service was also inconsistent. My mom's Diet Pepsi was forgotten when our drinks were brought out, although the server did bring water for the table, which I appreciated. The appetizer was delicious and was honestly the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, my entrée was where things went downhill. I ordered the twin filets cooked medium, but both arrived very well done. I mentioned it to our server, who took them back for a remake. When the replacement came out, it was served on a piece of lettuce for presentation, but the steaks were still not cooked correctly. One was medium rare, which I was willing to accept at that point, but the other was once again well done. I brought it to the server's attention a second time, and I was told a manager would be stopping by our table. That never happened. Instead, the entrée was simply removed from the bill. While I appreciate not being charged for a meal that wasn't prepared correctly, I was disappointed that no one came to speak with me or offered an alternative entrée so I could actually have dinner. The impression I was left with was, "We'll take it off the bill and move on," rather than making an effort to fix the situation. It's unfortunate because the two guests dining with me thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Sadly, I ended up leaving hungry on my own birthday. That's not the experience I was hoping for, and it's why I can't recommend Dockside Bar & Grill based on this visit. To make matters worse, after sharing my experience in a comment on the restaurant's Facebook page, my comment was deleted and I was blocked from their business page. Rather than addressing customer concerns or attempting to resolve issues, they chose to silence feedback. In my opinion, that's not good business practice and only added to my disappointment with the overall experience. Constructive criticism should be an opportunity to improve, not something to hide from potential customers. EDIT TO ADD AFTER MANAGEMENT RESPONSE: If you truly wanted to take full ownership of the situation, then either you or a member of your management team would have come to my table last night to speak with me, as our server advised would happen. Simply removing an item from the bill does not constitute fully taking ownership of what you referred to as a "human mistake." As for being blocked from your Facebook page, that's fine. Based on both my experience at your restaurant and your response afterward, I have no intention of returning. What is particularly disappointing is that after I posted my initial comment about my experience, no one from management attempted to contact me privately. You could have easily sent a Facebook message to discuss what happened and address my concerns. Instead, my comment was deleted and I was blocked from your business page. Your handling of customer feedback demonstrates a lack of hospitality and professionalism. Had there been better communication when the issue occurred, I likely would not have felt compelled to leave a negative review in the first place. The problem was never just the food or the mistake itself--it was how the situation was handled afterward. I can now better understand why other reviewers have commented on management's reactions to criticism. Word-of-mouth remains one of the most powerful forms of advertising. Unfortunately, negative experiences and poor customer service tend to spread much faster than positive ones. Since you chose to remove my feedback, block me from your page, fail to follow up after I had already attempted to address the issue while still in your establishment, and suggest that simply taking an item off the bill was "taking ownership," I will be sharing my experience with others and recommending that they think twice before choosing your "on the water" dining experience. You asked why I wouldn't call you to discuss making things right. The answer is simple: you had the opportunity to do that last night. I was already there, willing to discuss the issue, and was told that management would speak with me. That conversation never happened.
