    Pork cutlet sandwich with fries
    Mei C.

Was in the mood for HK style snack and decided to drop in for a bite. Was able to grab a table for dine-in; Ordered the fried pork cutlet sandwich combo (comes with fries and HK milk tea), and square HK style French toast. Food came out promptly and warm- I especially liked the one bite french toast (peanut butter and condense milk drizzle)-tasted decadent. I also liked the sandwich, though the fries tasted just alright. The HK style Milk tea is a must (customers adjust the sweetness). Menu also has a varieties of breakfast combo deals and brunch menu as well. This is a popular spot in the area-expect a bit of a wait during the morning.

Came here after coming back from HK. We got here around 5:55PM, good amount of time before they closed at 7pm. We got seated as it wasn't busy and got to ordering! We got the mixed sauce rice rolls with fish balls, curry pork cutlet rice, imitation shark fin soup, and the French toast. The cutlet was pretty good, nice flavor and kick for a cold night. The fresh toast looked crispy, but was actually quite soggy with ok flavor. The soup was too thick, but good taste. The food was generally ok but we were turned off by the experience there. Before we got seated, we asked if they were still open to not intrude on them closing and they assured us they were. As we were ordering and eating, there were staff cleaning up and mopping the floor. Cleaning up made us felt rushed as if we were holding them from leaving, and mopping the floor near us with a bleach product was not the best in terms of scent mixed with food. I felt they could've waited till we left (we ate quickly and left at 6:35, prior to their closing time).

Instant Noodle Soup with Satay Beef (Beef in Peanut Sauce), which did not have much peanut flavor and didn't taste that great.

Overall a 3.75/5. Let's start with the good. The noodle soup where you can choose your own soup base was quite delicious and jam packed with a generous portion of ingredients! My wife also really liked the sharkfin soup, which she said was more flavorful than the one from Kowloon. The seating was spacious and comfortable, and the interior design was reflective of your typical cha chan tang. Now onto the not so great. The corned beef egg sandwich had plenty of egg but very little corned beef, which basically made it taste like just an egg sandwich unfortunately. The satay beef was also not that great and lacked the nutty and creaminess that classic satay beef often has, which was the most disappointing for me for that dish was what I looked forward to the most. The red bean ice drink was quite heavy on the ice and since the red bean wasn't blended, most of the ice trapped the red bean and made the drink less than average. The staff weren't that sociable and seemed to keep to themselves in the back area. Water is self-served so there's really minimal interaction with staff, but their lack of smile just made the atmosphere less enjoyable than it could have been. Overall I believe High Five has potential of being another good HK style cha chan tang in Brooklyn, so I hope they can continue to improve certain selections while maintaining consistency on the items that they are doing so well in. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes nonetheless. Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

After my recent trip to Hong Kong, I was really missing the food and came in with high hopes. Unfortunately, the food ended up being just average and the atmosphere made the overall experience disappointing. We ordered the steamed rice noodles with fish balls, imitation shark fin soup, French toast, and the fried pork cutlet with curry sauce. Imitation shark fin soup 3/5 - The flavor was good, but it was much thicker than expected. French toast 2/5 - It looked like it would be crispy on the outside, but it turned out soft and slightly soggy. Fried pork cutlet with curry sauce 3.5/5 - The pork was not very crispy and had a very thick starch coating, though the curry sauce itself tasted good. This dish could have been great if the pork was crispier. The meal also came with a Hong Kong milk tea, which was pretty solid. Steamed rice noodles with fish balls 4/5 - My favorite dish of the night. The flavor was great and the fish balls had a nice texture. I just wish the sauce was a bit thicker so it would cling better to the noodles. As for the service, I know tips are optional and everything like utensils and water is self serve so I did not expect much. That said, the staff started cleaning while we were still eating. They close at 7 pm and we arrived at 6 pm, but by 6:05 they were already mopping and moving chairs around us. The strong bleach smell and the rushed feeling really killed my appetite. Overall, this was not a great experience and I will not be coming back.

French Toast / Steamed Rice Noodle in House Special Sauce / Instant Noodle Soup with Satay Beef / Toast and Scrambled Egg
    Ally L.

Quality: 9/10 everything was piping hot and cooked well. Instant noodles were not soggy, beef was tender, and the rice noodles were the best I've had since visiting HK. Variety: 9/10 a lot traditional HK dishes to choose from which is why we got so many dishes for just the two of us. Atmosphere/Cleanliness: 8/10 clean restaurant with Cha Chan Tang style seating so if it gets busy it might be hard to seat big groups of 4 or more. Service: N/A they have a sign stating tipping is optional which is similar to cafes in Hong Kong, but they did seat us and take our order almost immediately. Food came out within 10-15 minutes. Price: $30 including tax and tip

We are always looking for Hong Kong style tea cafes that serve our favorite type of brunch, Cha Chan Tang style. And we think the taste of High Five was close to the places we love in Hong Kong. The stuffed vegetables reminded me of the ones you find at street stalls in Kwun Tong. The mixed sauce rice rolls were similar to the ones I had in Cheung Chau. The French Toast bites were such a highlight and had to order my childhood favorite, red bean ice!

    Chin T.

Staffs were friendly. There is a lot of seating, however, I had to wait a little bit because the place was packed for brunch on Thursday morning. The breakfast set was $8.25. The satay beef tasted good however it was only a couple of pieces. It came with a hot drink, toast and eggs which definitely fills you up. Also, double check the bill when it comes; the waitress ended up giving us the wrong bill which was our neighbor's. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

Came here for an early dinner / late lunch type of thing with friends and grandma. Approved by grandma! There is an extensive menu and the prices are really good! If you come for morning, there's breakfast sets. We tried a couple items but highlights: the Hong Kong milk tea was good, the curry fish balls not bad, the cherng fun with peanut and soy sauce was good, fried Shu Mai, and the baked spaghetti with the chicken cutlet. I would definitely come again.

Came by for lunch with my sister. Food was decent. Ambiance is bright and spacious. We ordered some food to share. One thing i should warn u in advance is do NOT order the "curry triple delight". For $6, its NOT worth what your getting. Its literally 4 fishballs, 1 piece of tripe and 1 piece of pork skin. I wish i ordered something else instead had i known how little i was getting. Rice noodles with house special sauce- pretty good! Rice noodles in Dry mala sauce with beef slices- delicious! We really enjoyed this one. Hot HK tea- my sister enjoyed it Red bean ice- it was ok! Overall, we had a decent lunch. Service was ok, nothing particularly stood out on service.

I live in the area and discovered High Five recently. I think I found my new favorite HK spot! I was greeted by Fion and she was so welcoming. She recommended their best dishes and I got the set meals that come with a drink. Everything here is fairly priced and the portions were pretty generous. The HK Milk tea was so good and woke me right up. The baked spaghetti was next level and I had leftovers to take home. The satay beef instant noodle was also pretty tasty as well. For apps, the peanut sauce fish ball rice noodle was bomb and condensed milk french toast was perfectly sweet. I'll definitely come back with my family.

No bells, no whistles, you get what you pay for, and hopefully you'll enjoy what you ordered. There's a big TV that's always running news in Cantonese, a self-help water station if you want to call it that, and many diners that zoom in and out. You'll find yourself almost rubbing elbows no matter where you sit unless you're at a booth. It can get a bit tight and you might bump into the other patrons and/or their food. I sincerely wish they have coat hooks considering how cramped spaces can be; we were holding onto our winter coats on our laps while we ate. The HK canteen menu items makes us want to return; the tea is a yay, the coffee is a pass, and the food is a thanks. See you when we see you!

If you're planning to come here for a quick rice plate lunch, you might want to look elsewhere. The beef was tough and chewy, which is surprising since most Chinese spots use the velveting technique that keeps their proteins super tender. The green scallion sauce was fine but overly salty. You can get the rice plate combo with a drink for $12, which seems reasonable until you realize the drinks are just canned sodas, and options like coffee or milk tea cost extra. I went with a cold honey lemon drink that was about 60% ice, and it added another $2.25 to the combo. I also added an egg for another $2, bringing the total to $17 2!which was not worth it. Maybe most people come for the Hong Kong breakfast combos, but for lunch, the rice plates just don't hit. The only bright side is that it's a no-tip establishment, and the food comes out quickly.

    Pork chop sandwich
    Holly C.

A quick serviced Hong Kong style cafe that offers comfort food. We ordered their satay beef instant noodle set, pork chop sandwich, baked pork chop rice and baked spaghetti with meat sauce. The satay beef instant noodle was flavorful and legit and had peanut chunks from the peanut butter. However, the sunny side egg still had some uncooked egg whites and one of the yolk was broken. Their pork chop sandwich was my favorite. The pork chop was marinated well and tasty. It was also crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The bun, although a little burnt, was nicely toasted in which the outside was crispy yet chewy on the inside while also absorbing all the juice from the pork. I was however disappointed with their baked dishes. The baked spaghetti with meat sauce hardly had any meat in it. The spaghetti was a little over cooked, and the sauce had no depth to it and felt like it was just ketchup mixed with water. The cheese was as also extremely overpowering. The same sauce was used for pork chop rice except it had a little more flavor to it from the veggies and the pork chop, which was also nicely done as I assume it's the same pork chop as the sandwich. Cheese was also overpowering so we ended up scraping them off. We also ordered iced lemon tea and salted lemon 7 up. Their lemon tea tasted legit. The tea flavor was strong and it was wasn't too sweet. Their salted lemon however, was a little weird as the lemon came in slices versus the smaller whole salted brined lemon that were used to. The staffed assured us the lemon is salted but I didn't taste it at all. The restaurant was clean, spacious and comfortable for Hong Kong style cafe standards. Service was quick and the staff were attentive. They do take credit or debit cards but there is a $20 minimum. There is no extra service charge. Overall, I think it's a good place to go to their snacks and breakfast options. I would stay away from their baked dishes.

I eyed the low star rating with some trepidation, because many of the criticism was coming from Cantonese people who know what they're talking about and as far as I could tell, judging the place plainly and not on an unreasonably strict curve. Perhaps because my expectations were level set and because the 3 items I had were decent, my normally critical self is going to round up what I would consider a 3.5 star experience to 4 stars. My partner and I biked here on our fancy bikes that we didn't feel comfortable locking outside, and they very kindly allowed us to keep our bikes in the front area. Some tables were occupied, but it was pretty chill on the Saturday afternoon I visited so this might be why they were so relaxed about it. We got the horlick french toast, rice noodles with fish balls, and HK milk tea. It's true that I'm used to Manhattan and north Brooklyn prices but wow things were shockingly cheap on this menu. I didn't expect the best food but the horlick french toast and HK milk tea were particularly good. I think the fish balls and noodles tasted like they were either rehydrated or defrosted and absolutely not made fresh, but again I think this dish was like 5 or 6 bucks? So I'm fine with a little reheated noodle action. What I really came here was for the ambience, and even the haters in the reviews can't deny this place is cute. If I were here with a group I would love to sit in one of their plush booths. They didn't rush us at all and didn't mind me walking around taking dozens of videos. I'd recommend a visit!

The prices are really good, but to be honest we were disappointed with the baked spaghetti dishes. The sauces were not flavourful and the texture of the pasta wasn't right - too soggy and soft. To be fair, there is no one place in NYC that does Hong Kong style baked spaghetti right. I was very happy with the curry beef rice dish though.

It is rich in body and smooth in texture. However, the aroma of the tea was slight covered by the milk choice. Typically, HK milk tea usually comes with evaporated milks or condensed milk by request. Using regular milk will covered the aroma of the tea and pushed the texture to a smoother but lost its taste of the traditional HK Milk Tea favor. This is still good for a regular craving though. I also tried this French Toast with Cream of Mushroom. The French Toast in HK should be paired with Syrup and butter with jam/peanut butter within the toast. This one at Like Cafe was fusion with Cream of Mushroom and cheese inside the toast. It made this devilish afternoon tea item a savory meal itself. It's amazing. I enjoyed this dish a lot, but could've enjoyed it more if there had been AC because it came out piping hot! - Assorted Combination Bowl: I ordered this thinking it was 煎讓三寶, but I was very wrong. It was a mixture of pork skin, fish balls, radish, and squid. I would not get this again because it was extremely bland. If you do decide to get it, go for the one with curry sauce, as I'm sure that would be at least tastier. - Rice Noodles w/ Mix Sauce: very bouncy and chewy rice noodles with a lot of sauce, which is right up my alley. I would order this again if I'm ever back. Overall, my experience here was just okay. There were a few hits and misses. They can do better with a renovation (the booth cushions were damaged) and brighter lighting. Too many competitors in the area with better food make it hard for me to want to come back. I'll consider ordering the baked pork chop rice for takeout in the future.

Ordered Hong Kong styled instant noodles with spam and eggs, veggies, gyozas and crunchy seafood noodles. When I think of spam, it is rectangular shaped, however, the spam was circular! It still tastes the same though. The gyozas was an appetizer but also can be a personal dish. majority of their dishes are family style which means they are big in portion and are meant to be shared. So keep in mind when ordering! Staff were so nice, feels so nostalgic that there were Cantonese conversations every where. The restaurant also sells a variety of sushis. Many people were coming in to pick up their take out and to order take out! The booth where I sat has a tv above and it was playing Chinese music with lyrics so you can kind of sing along like a karaoke.Restaurant has restrooms for customers.

The quality of this restaurant has plummeted drastically over the last couple of months. For starters, the staff answers reluctantly; when I asked for the address, the person on the line stopped to talk to someone else, then proceeded to ask me to repeat myself three separate times. I do not recommend this place; it is terrible--terrible customer service, terrible quality:((( crispy pork , , . . , , - , . , , , .
