I was waiting on a friend and decided to try out this place. I was surprised to see they had both indoor and outdoor seating. I was happy to see all the employees practicing COVID safety as most people are not now that the "pandemic is over". I don't eat Mexican often so the photos on their menu came in handy. Their menu has nice pictures to show what to order. I ordered a chicken burrito with black beans. It was pretty good. The price was a little under $10 which is a little high for a burrito. I've been coming here for about a decade now, and this place has gone downhill. Since the quarantine started, I have bought food from this location at least four times now. Every time, I order the exact same thing. A spicy Cajun burrito bowl with chicken, no onions and no sour cream. There is no consistency with the food, and I can always expect something different each time. Some times, the bowl will be missing lettuce. Other times, they will forget the rice or beans. The amount of chicken is different every time, and some times it looks like they didn't put any meat in there at all. It would be nice if the food came out the exact same way every time you order it, but unfortunately it does not. Although this place is close by and convenient, I think I'll be looking elsewhere for my burrito fix in this future. I like their food, the service to me always leaves me just north of uneasy. They do not have the skill set for a welcoming environment. They take your order. That's it. I've seen them snap at a delivery guy. Apparently it's not teachable. They used to have one in Walnut Creek. I get to it less frequently now that it's Alamo. Not worth even wasting this much time, but feel obligated to share, spread the word and be done with this place. The short version- Place a phone order, looked at menu online, order food for the whole family, the burrito pack at $49.99. Get there to grab my order(which took 45 minutes, place was empty) and he tells me its $70. We go back and forth, I show him the price on their menu online he could care less. Says, "we couldn't change online price for website, but this is the price and hands me a paper copy in the store that says $65.00. So after going back and forth, he said, "well do you want it or not?" Then says, "just don't buy it then!" I have multiple people at home waiting for food, later in the evening, so had no choice. A delightful little restaurant in Alamo. They offer up a great selection of delicious food. My go to is their grilled steak bowl. Try it with black beans instead of the pinto beans. It comes with a cilantro lime topping that is delicious. They are quick and the food is really good. The guacamole and chips is a good side order. Bought 2 take out burritos last night with my husband and they were hot, tasty and big enough to share! The cashier person ( "J") we ordered from pulled a "fast one" on us and I didn't figure it out until I left the restaurant. There is a growing controversy about tipping in fast food establishments like high Tech Burrito, Starbucks, pastry places when the servers do not always go out of the way (which is ok) but merely give you the items you ordered. When I went to high tech Burrito I used my credit card and chose not to tip. However the Cashier "J" quickly pressed the button for a "$3.52" tip without my knowledge and it went thru my credit card. He was surprised when I asked for a Receipt. Lesson learned: pay cash or pay attention to charges made on your credit without your knowledge when you are in the restaurant before you leave! Has anyone experience this before? I was also at a danville restaurant and the server entered a 20% tip without my authorization and still pointed out more for the final tip!! We've been coming to high tech burrito for a very long time. It's been great. Tonight I ordered from my car and the connection wasn't great and I should've just gone in and ordered it in person but I ordered over the phone. When I got there to pick up the food there was a discrepancy. I ordered one chicken and one shrimp taco, but the young man said that I ordered one chicken and one shrimp burrito. He was extremely rude. It was upsetting. I said no and that I had ordered tacos not burritos, but he was adamant that I had ordered incorrectly and said since it was already made, I should take it. I told him I didn't order it and he just glared at me. I told him we've been coming there for many years and we love this place and we're very good customers. It didn't seem to make much of an impact. I got tired of arguing and I couldn't take the abuse and I walked out. HTB has been our go-to burrito place locally for nearly 20 years, with typically great food and generous servings! Sadly, this may have changed. Yesterday was a huge disappointment. The food was not at all good, and we were grossly overcharged and not provided a recept. This has never happened in the past -- this was a first. Not only were the Godzilla bowls mediocre: beef and chicken were both tasteless and bland (eg. not marinated), the bowls were half full instead of the typically generously filled bowls. 1 tablespoon of guacamole instead of a generous portion. We ordered: 2 Godzilla Bowls, 1 large chip/guacamole which should have been: 2 x $11.50 = $23.00 1 x $13.00 = $13.00 TOTAL should have been $36.00 We asked to redeem our HTB credit from Thanx of $7.25, which WAS NOT APPLIED. We should have been charged a TOTAL of $28.75 after applying the HTB Thanx credit. INSTEAD, TODAY WE FOUND THAT OUR CREDIT CARD HAD BEEN CHARGED: $46.67, NEARLY $18 MORE THAN WE SHOULD HAVE PAID. After 20 years, we'll need to watch the staff like hawks to ensure proper billing -- and we'll continue as customers only if the food is back to being great the next time we try the place. read more

The place serves burritos for a bit more expensive than other foods, and does a good job of it most of the time. Sometimes, it's a bit salty, and other times it's a bit bland, but on the whole, they do a pretty good job. The staff is polite, and they are able to make the burrito within 10-15 minutes of ordering, so I don't normally have to wait long. I typically get vegetarian/fajita burritos, so your experience may be different than mine. read more

I have given this place a number of tries, and now I have decided to never go back again. Unfortunately, the meats are not at all fresh. They are tough, they are pre-cooked (as in maybe a day or two ago), and if there's any flavor at all it's more of a spoiled taste than a fresh taste. We went to pick it up, and after 45 minutes it was still not ready. They asked if it was for doordash. They completely confused the order and then after almost an hour of waiting we finally got our food, but the order was missing items and 2 of the items we did receive were incorrect. After doing something terribly mortifying in High-Tech Burrito's parking lot that occurred as a result of said motion sickness (lol) my beau and I ordered grilled chicken burritos here. We were both pretty ravenous and the other options on this strip didn't look particularly exciting. High Tech Burrito (made me chuckle with their name) doesn't have a lot of "high tech" things going on, but their decor and ambience is like a slightly campier/rustic Chipotle and their food was fantastic. Not just fantastic because we were starving, but actually quite a good burrito in its own right. Very good portion size too! They have a great selection of healthy salads and burritos. I stuck to this list and ended up choosing the braised tofu burrito. I had never had a tofu burrito and decided it was a good day to try something new. The burrito consists of tofu, black beans, brown rice and salsa all wrapped up in a low fat tortilla. It was so good and I am now a tofu burrito fan. Although it was on the healthier side it did not lack anything in the way of flavor. Jac C also seemed pleased with his burrito choice. I ordered a vegan burrito with shrimp and some tacos. The ingredients taste flavorful and fresh! I'm giving a three because the burrito was so watery! The burrito came in the spinach wrap and by the time it got to me in WC and I cut the burrito open, it was just leaking water like the vegetables weren't drained. So the food is soggy which is disappointing. I am getting past the sogginess but I think if it weren't this wet, I'd really enjoy the food. read more

Let's start with the reheated chicken they use, it's just like that foster farms crap you buy at the super market. Clearly processed, not fresh, and utterly disgusting. I have lived in Alamo for years and am shocked this place is still in business. Not to mention how rude and slow the service is, it's a disgrace.
