High Tech Car Care has been great. A while back, I went to another place for an oil change, and they gave me a list of like four or five serious problems with my car that needed to be fixed urgently. I was skeptical, so I went to High Tech Car Care for a second opinion. They saw one real concern, and politely explained that the other "fixes" were unnecessary and unwarranted. Then, they took care of my brakes for a really reasonable price. I live in San Diego now, but I still try to come here as often as I can for oil changes and any other work that needs to be done. Great service, fast and always polite. Jonathan and Jared helped me and my mom with her transmission four months ago, they were honest and helpful with their diagnosis. Most important fair with what they charged. Considering another shop near by wanted to charge for a complete rebuild that wasn't necessary. Today I took our VW Passat in to get a smog check based on my past experience. It took all but 10 minutes and I they were done, I also was in 10 minutes after they opened which helped as I know they're busy. Jonathan remembered me and asked how my Mom was doing. The first time I went to High Tech I was new in town, and they were a shop AAA recommended. I had a really good experience there, and I've been going back ever since. It's been almost 15 years now - I've taken them old cars and new cars, a Chevy, a Pontiac, a couple Toyotas and a Honda. They've never done anything underhanded. I've never had a problem with anything they've fixed. When I've taken cars elsewhere for second opinions, I've gotten similar diagnoses and recommendations. They've been consistently professional, respectful, and fair. As to the negative reviews, I imagine some people might take offense at bad news. But I can't see Jared or his guys making up stories or giving bad diagnoses. That just doesn't match anything I've seen in more than a decade of doing business with them. I first went to High Tech for a minor repair over 15 years ago and have been coming back ever since. They have worked on 5 cars of mine and a couple my friends cars and we have never been let down. On the contrary, I have been impressed on numerous visits with their attention to detail and willingness to do all the little things the right way without Nickel and Dime-ing me like other shops do. The important things to me in an Auto repair shop are 1) Quality Work: CHECK, 2) Fair Price: CHECK, 3) Good customer service with a professional attitude: CHECK. I cannot confirm this but it seems to me that all the guys that work there have been there for many years. That kind of loyalty does not happen by accident. Also, I'm guessing they have the philosophy of under promising and over delivering and I like that because I hate surprises (of the Auto Shop bill variety). These days it's not easy to find a place you can trust to take care of your baby even if it's just transportation. I will continue to bring my machines to High Tech. read more

I want to thank Jonathan at High Tech for taking care of my elderly mother, Denise. They only serviced what needed to be done on her vehicle. Prior to going to High Tech she had gone to another nearby mechanic that told her she basically needed a new front end. If your in need of mechanical work done I highly recommend going to see Jonathan at High Tech. They are honest and run their business with the utmost integrity. Jared & his son Jon have always treated me right. I have been using them for over 25 years. Today the metal fuel filler neck assembly leading to my gas tank caused the smog check to fail, due to a leak caused by a hairline crack in the metal. They had replaced that part 2 years ago which cost me $380. Without me prodding or even questioning, they sent out and replaced the defective part, even though it had been 2 years & certainly out of warranty. It was my Home Depot trip truck & I probably put on less then 1000 miles over the last two years. This time no additional charge! I did not have to question it, or confront them. High Tech Car Care did the right thing on their own & have high moral character. No question about it...they deserve FIVE STARS for this one alone, not to mention they are consistently trustworthy. read more

Stay away from this shop from now on! I don't normally write negative reviews but this would be my first one. I'm a very considerate customer. I had my 07 toyota 4runner v8 due for a timing belt change but running fine. Went there for the fix 1 1/2 yr ago. After an overnight, drove the car and I noticed a huge coolant leak and If my wife driving it could have blown the engine. In short back job after a $950 cost repair. But they try to fix it and been patient with JON's blah blah but still there was a little leak that I have to add coolant every week. Traded that vehicle though. They fixed my toyota avalon for a left hub bearing which was the only problem but they replaced both per explanation of Jon, fine, since it was charge thru extended warranty. Repair cost $1,000+. They made money of all the vehicles I have plus my family and friends I recommended. Here's one that's unacceptable to me! I have my 04 f150 for a smog test and it failed for performance modification that was installed by the previous owner and I explained to them that I'm not aware of that since I bought it used. Jon said they can remove it for $55 plus the test fee which is $28. I said I'll remove it myself and come back for a retest without charge. And Jon said no you have to pay the test again. B___ls___t!! Guys, go to west valley smog or to other smog test shop and they'll give you at least three tries for the smog check. My family, friends and guys I recommended don't go back to this shop. Doesn't have good customer service that guy named Jon by the front desk. He was worried more of the $29 retest fee. I finally found an honest reliable auto shop! The mechanics at High Tech truly care about their customers. Plus, their prices are the best in town. A few months ago, I went in for a routine oil change and as soon as I left the parking lot, my car started making a weird noise and something smelled like it was burning. I immediately pulled over and called the shop. A few minutes later, the manager and a mechanic pulled up. They let me know that the new filter they had just installed was defective, so they replaced it right on the spot and topped off my oil. My car was fine after that and when I went in for my next oil change, they wouldn't let me pay! I won't go anywhere else now. read more

Made the mistake of letting a couple family members take their cars here. These dudes are jokes, first they don't know how to install an oil filter, they crank it down like it's the last one you'll ever buy, I had to buy a tool to remove the oil filter they installed and the tool broke, so after that I had to hammer a screwdriver into the oil filter and hit the screwdriver with a hammer to loosen it. I can teach these beginner mechanics how to install an oil filter, $50 for a ten minute class on how to change oil if they want. Another thing, my girlfriends AC was going out intermittently, it was making a clanking noise, I'm 90% sure it was the AC clutch bearing, her dad took it to these clowns and they said that the AC needed to be recharged and that's what the problem was, if the AC was working intermittently that should tell you it wasn't the amount of r134 that was the problem because if that was the case the AC would not get cold at all. I'm currently screwed at the moment, changing the oil on a car that previously had it's oil changed at hi tech, the oil filter will not come off, so what do I do, break some more tools trying to get it off? Refill the car with brand new oil (with a dirty oil filter) so I can drive it there and have them fix their mistake and possibly have them try to charge me for it. I should film myself removing the filter with a torque wrench to show everyone how much they over tighten them. Long story short, if you don't wanna do the work yourself or don't know how to, take it to someone who k owe what they're doing. read more

This is by far the best auto care I've been to. I've been going here for some time now, so I think it's about time to write my personal review. I've been to 3 other places in Simi in which I had horrible experiences and later found out that I either over-paid or had services done that I didn't need. Simi's High Tech Car Care has been nothing but honest, nice, and respectful of my decisions to either wait or take care of what needs to be done to my vehicle. Last time I came in, they told me that I was in need of new brakes soon, but I was strict on money at the time and didn't really drive too often. Jonathan was very helpful with explaining a service as simple as that and recommended the time frame in which they needed to be replaced. I've also have never felt pressured into doing any other major service to my car here, whereas other car places I have (but didn't need the service). They are great with their work and have clear knowledge about anything I ask about. I've been here over 5 times now for oil changes, a brake replacement, and other services and they have an incredible team. Their prices are incredibly fair, considering the time they spend on your car and customer service they offer (I think they also offer AAA discounts on higher services). So far, I've had nothing but good experiences! read more

The guys here are AMAZING. You always hear cases of girls going to get their car fixed and getting ripped off but that is NOT the case here!!! I wouldn't trust my car with anyone else! They are always so kind and friendly here and give the best most honest service. The last time I was here the mechanic took the time to explain what was wrong with my car, show me the broken part and explain why I needed to replace it. The service here is amazing. They have always been such a huge help with my beat-up car. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It's nice to be able to have a mechanic you can trust.
