In the 3 months I have spent on the mountain at the new house only 3 places have become MUST visit places...this is at the top of the list. The coffee at Higher Grounds is among the best cups of coffee I have ever had. Their coffee beans are of just incredible quality and their service is always top notch. Their regular latte alone will make you a believer. You don't need any sweeteners or any gimmicks to make this cup of coffee amazing. It will be the smoothest, most balanced, tastiest cup you've had in a while...guaranteed. If siren brand corporate coffee is your standard, prepare to have a new standard made. First time here we each got a drink and we took a couple of pastries. Kids had a chai and a hot chocolate. Both were very tasty. Wife had a latte that made her eyes close and had her making "mmmmmm" sounds at first taste. I had just a regular cup of drip that tasted like it was made in an aero press, superb and rich flavor, no bitter undertones. The turnovers we had were excellent as well. Every time since that, I've had the latte with oat milk and it is just insanely delicious I recommend it whether you need non-dairy milk or not, it is just so good this way. read more

The two girls running the front counter were very nice and got our drinks quickly. The older man working in back who made our sandwiches though decided to make it his mission to spend the entire 30 minutes we were in there discussing his disgust for queer folk and their "lifestyles". As a gay man trying to enjoy my lunch with his boyfriend it fueled me with gay rage. I want to support local businesses but I probably won't be back even though the sandwich and drinks were good. Can't support a business that can't be bothered to at least teach their employees to keep their bigoted opinions to themselves. Kudos to the cashier for sticking up for her trans sibling though! In addition to the coffee they have great home baked goods including vegan brownies, maple walnut scones, some awesome ham and cheese puff pastry, cinnamon rolls on the weekends, and more. Also, their sandwiches are simple but huge and off-the-charts good, made with Boar's Head meats and cheeses and some incredible breads. Higher Grounds is a good spot if you're looking for cheap cafe-type breakfast items. A bagel will run you $3 and the breakfast sandwich is $6. Though the breakfast sandwich wasn't the most flavorful I've had, I appreciated the good value. read more

My fiancé and I came to the lake arrowhead area for Easter weekend to get out of the city and relax for a few days. We went to Higher Grounds Coffee two days in a row. Love their lavender vanilla iced latte with oatmilk. The pastries, bagels and sandwiches are equally as good. Patio is nice and open. read more

It is extremely hard to find a good (and by good I mean 3rd/4th wave good) coffee shop in the San Bernardino mountains. Enter Higher Grounds! Drinks -- their coffee is the best on the mountain. They have all the usual suspects, espresso, coffee, lattes, etc. and some even feature excellent flavors (I believe I heard talk of a lavender latte?) Food -- they've got a nice little selection of baked goods at a killer price (I think we got a cookie for a dollar) Ambiance -- the place is in what looks to be an old vintage gas station and it's cute as could be. Seating indoor and outside as well makes it the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Parking & misc. -- lots of parking and the prices are excellent. It's located right in the cute little downtown-y area of Crestline. If you're a hipster (like me) and you're craving a great cup of joe (and let's face it, who isn't?) go here. I love stopping by Higher Grounds when visiting the Crestline area. The breakfast sandwiches on bagels are tasty and the coffee is too. Prices are reasonable and the service is good. We have never had an issue getting a parking spot or finding a seat at one of their outdoor patio tables to enjoy our breakfast. Though I haven't indulged yet, everything in the pastry case looks amazing. What a cute little coffee shop! I always drive past this shop when on my way home or in my way to work. I haven't had time to stop in till last week. It was during the week at about 10a, so it wasn't busy. I was greeted by a young lady who was eager to help me choose the perfect drink for myself. I ended choosing the vanilla latte and it was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet, not bitter, just right. I also ordered a slice of banana bread and it was very good. Might I add that it seemed like the banana bread was homemade? Yum! The decor inside is very nice. It definitely gives you the coffee shop vibes. Their coffee isn't good. They don't have a good variety of flavors and sugar free choices in syrups. The coffee shop in Goodwin's is better by far. Their coffee is up there with the coffee bean and they have more choices including smoothies and pastries. I would love to say it was a great coffeehouse (since we only really have 2 in town), but unfortunately I can't. I've only gone there twice (the second time just to give them a second chance) months ago, but both times were sub-par. As soon as you walk in, there is not much room inside, and both times I never felt very welcomed. Their drinks and food were super expensive. And both times I ordered some type of sandwich and was let down. The first time I ordered a sandwich that was made to order, I was a) surprised how much they charged, and b) the bread was stale! The second time I was excited to try a breakfast bagel...but unfortunately was let down again. Not only did they have only 2 types of bagels, but they didn't even toast my bagel when they made the sandwich! Who does that?? Anyway, needless to say I was SUPER disappointed as I REALLY wanted to have a coffee shop I loved and went to all the time out here, but I've never been back after those times. read more

While in town, I was super excited to try this place considering the great reviews. I got an iced hazelnut americano with oat milk and a muffin/cake. The drink was so sour and the muffin was very dry. I honestly didn't feel comfortable asking for the drink to be re-made because the employees weren't friendly and I felt uncomfortable going back in. I ended up throwing it away because I couldn't drink it :/ also, I'm not sure if they make their baked goods or purchase them, but I found a hair or thread baked into my muffin.... again, no idea if they bake them or purchase them but... Higher Grounds serves exceptional coffee with friendly attitudes. The beans are from Arcade, which roasts some of the tastiest craft coffee that can be had. The attention to detail is easy to identify in the cup. Their maple latte is to die for. Even though they're fairly new, they offer a lot of pastry and drink options. I'm partial to the luxurious, fill texture of their cappuccino foam in particular, but I usually get a capp for here and then a large drip to go. 20oz drip, y'all. No one pours such a generous cup of the good stuff for this price. read more

Being from LA, we have some of the most incredible options, and admittedly are a little spoiled. So, I decided to look around on Yelp. Liked what I saw and gave it a try...perfect, absolutely wonderful. The flavor was on point, the girls were super friendly, location was right on the main drag (a block down from where we stayed), and they even had Vegan Brownies!!!
